Hello all.  I am still hanging out in KY.  I am doing not so well on the food - this weekend was an all time record high calories, I'm sure.  But...........this week will be better and I'll just have to put it all behind me.

The carpet is being installed in our house right now.  I am taking today and tomorrow off work to coordinate it and so is my husband.  He's doing great on helping and actually heading up the project.

I am hoping that with the carpet project being done that can be the signal for the return of normalcy around our house to be returning soon.  It will take so much time to get everything put back.  If we thought our house was a wreck before - well, you should just see it now!

Still working the other job at the Deli.  It's "interesting".  I have a lead on another full-time job that I think I really want!  Keep me in prayers for this situation, please and thank you!

More later.  Hope to catch up with everyone soon.

OK if I'm going to post and comment it's going to have to be fast so you all will probably just have to excuse some of the typos, etc.   Oh, is my perfectionism showing?  Well, what a perfect opportunity to give it up!

Yesterday was ok.  Ate moderately and didn't exercise.  I am scheduled to work at the Deli tonight - you all may remember I have taken a 2nd part-time job.  It's OK - I don't like washing the pans, though.  We take turns doing it and most of the other Deli workers are nice.  I will only work there until I get the carpet paid for.  I'd like to find a full-time, better salaried job going forward.  Remember I was offered the a job back in April?  Great pay, great benefits, but I couldn't make up my mind to take it?  Well, I have started to wonder if that was the correct decision. Nevertheless, if I keep my eyes and ears open I should be able to find sometbing in the next year.  I am grateful to have the 2 pt jobs I have.  The one has just been ideal for 4 years almost andGod lead me to it - so why should I think he won't lead me to the next one?  I just hope the one I turned down wasn't the last one he had in mind for awhile!!  (That's a joke,  I'm only human, right?)

Tomorrow we will go out with family for Thanksgiving since I have a house that is still close to disaster stage.  That should change in the next month.  We probably won't be able to do much decorating for Christmas, but if we don't get all that stuff out, we won't havae to put it up, either!  See the flip side to many situations is so positive!

Have a great holiday everyone.  Wishing you eating success - think eat well - not don't eat!  God bless!

your DD Pal, Holly

Hey, thanks for the comment on my diary. The larger looking handbag (not the evening bag) is felted wool. I have no idea how she does it, lol. She told me she has developed an allergy to wool now and can't work with it anymore, and she only had two left. Lucky me, I got one. The smallish ones go for $25-35 in stores where she placed them, and the larger for around $75. But knowing her, she probably underestimated the value of her own work. Ha! Don't we all.

Greetings, no I have not fallen off the face of the earth....I'm still here.  Doing "OK" for othe most part, but sad because I can't get on this site as much as I want.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and say I hope we all enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday with as healthy as possible eating and do not worry about it.  This is not supposed to be a day of deprivation, but of joy and thanksgiving and being with as many of our family as possible and enjoying each other.  It is not about the food - although it may seem like that in some of our families especially -  But the food is to be enjoyed.  Hang in there - prepare to be with family and prepare to be healthy.

God Bless - "see" you soon!

Hey, glad to hear from you again! Seems like you're doing good too. As for your question, I ask myself that too. I do think the answer is yes and here's why: i never met anyone i had such an amazing rapport with and with whom everything seemed to be more fun, you know little details and things in life that are just normal, like having a cup of coffee, when w'ere together they feel like they're a huge deal and something to be looking fwd to.. he and i have so much in common that it makes us laugh, we are 100% comfortable around each other, our friends love each other, he has a similar life style as mine, and i feel 100% comfortable about who he is, i can introduce them to anyone in my life in any situation and never be even a little worried that he will embarass me in anyway or act inapproprietely. on top of it all, i never felt as happy with myself as i do when i am with him. and i do feel he feels that too, so it's hard to accept that its just his fear of relationship and insecurities that will keep us from being happy together. tough one, no?

lots of misspellings here, sorry dear. hehe.

Where is thininsidedout?  I can't find recent entries.....???

Yesterday was OK.  I didn't over eat and I guess my exercise was working at the deli.  Dear DD friends.

Menus were:

B:  Banana and coffee 175

L:  potato dill soup, saltines, mayo and ham, fruit cup 450

D:  Two small chicken chunks, banana, vitamin water, taste of bologna/roast beef   475

Total = 1100  Wow pretty good.  I see a potential to "graze" at the delli, but mostly I just tasted some things I was curious about so i could tell customers, etc.  For the most part I am absolutely NOT tempted by fried foods - YUCK!  Thank goodness I didn't get a second job in a BAKERY, though!   LOL!

Today I will walk after work with my friend. I am feeling pretty down because that old "female" issue has reared it's head and I am having difficulties again.  Not the same as last time.  Guess a visit to the doctor is in order and I want a second opinion, too.  I want to know if less aggressive measures besides hysterectomy might fix the problem.  I'd hate to go thru a bunch of stuff and then haea to have a hysterectomy in the end, though.  SIGH!  What to do.......any words of encouragement or shared experience would be appreciated.

God bless, all......hollybelle

Hiya Holly,Sorry you are feeling down cos of 'down below'.I can't remember what symptoms you where having now.I had trouble if you remember a couple of years back, bleeding really heavy in the end i had a hormonal coil fitted although it does'nt work for some people.it's the best thing i did,i have no periods at all now just the odd ache downstairs!!!The doc told me if this did'nt work that i would have to have a hysterectomy which i did'nt want.Replying to your questions in the comment you left me re-liver.Some medications (codiene)can alter the result and i was taking painkillers for my earache but not excessive.I have had trouble previous in that region with having my gallbladder out, then getting an infection in my pancreas.I can see going for more scans, see what the doc says.Hey you've got a good memory, yes i did used to keep all the christmas goodies in the car,BUT now i have Alfie who would have a field day for sure and loves riding in the car. What i will have to do is wrap them up and put them in the spare room and hope for the best???Hey and not too much taste testing good excuse for customer research!!!Have yourself a great day,Julie

I have worked in a deli for many years and soon you won't be that tempted to eat. The other item you mentioned was about the fried chicken and I found out one night the reason why my dogs got excited to see me when I got home was because after I took my shoes off they were licking them due to all the chicken breading...gross! Hope you feel better!

WI3 on 11/14/2008:
Sorry to read that you are having those issues again. I was scared to death of having the hysterectomy. And when I had my uterus removed, I asked to keep my ovaries. Yeah, well we all know how that worked *sigh*. I read a bunch of stuff about different procedures as well as a lot of horror stories about hysterectomies. And like you, I didn't want to do a bunch of stuff (none of which is cheap) just to end up having the hysto anyway. My only regret is wishing I had the oopherectomy (ovaries removed) at the same time I had my uterus removed. As you know I had endo throughout my abdominal cavity as well as in my scar tissue. The only way to kill the endo once and for all, is to have the ovaries removed. Even then, it isn't a total guarantee because female hormones (natural or synthetic) can cause the little nodules to sprout and grow again. So if you take estrogen after, there is a risk that the endo that hasn't died yet will grow again. So, after I had the ovaries removed, I decided not to go on hormones because I want to make sure the stuff doesn't grow back. Yes, it has been hard going through menopause at an early age, but honestly, the best decision I made was to end up having it all removed. I don't have all that horrid bloating, pelvic pain, bleeding, spotting, and did I mention I am happy to be rid of that pain?

The surgery isn't everyone's cup of tea and I was petrified but I knew I didn't want this to come back and as I was done having kids and didn't have the issues of feeling less female after having it all taken out, I figured that while I had the insurance and comp time coming to me, I would just get it done and over with.

A really really good website to visit, and one that helped me, was hystersisters.com the forum is full of women who have had these exact same problems and they offer so much insight on their personal experiences. It was a life saver after that final surgery when I was having all those freaky things happening, and I saw that other women had the same experience. And it also helped me think it through prior to the surgery.

Everyone always wants to give their horror stories, but seriously, for me personally, I fully believe that the total hysterectomy/oopherectomy, was the best decision I made for my personal health. The hot flashes, skin changes, lower metabolism and all that is kind of a bummer...but we all have to go through it sometime anyway. And I'd rather go through it now than be struggling with endo at the age of 50. And, as you can see, it is possible to lose weight even after menopause. My um, most personal life *blush*, is fantastic. Really fantastic lol. And it is sooooooooooooo NICE not to have cycles anymore.

But mostly, it is nice not to have the pain and down time that the endo was creating.

Whatever you decide, I will support you 100%. And I will also understand. Feel free to ask me any questions about my personal experience. The only way we can make a difference in the world of female health is to help each other out. I'm here for ya!

Have a great weekend!

Good morning. Well, I couldn't follow through with my idea to post on the Forum for CHEAP and HEALTHY recipes!! It wouldn't let me or I wasn't doing it correctly or something! I'll try again later.

Yesterday wound up and OK day. The rest of my menu was:

Snack: Small (really) piece of cake with icing - darn those co-workers - they just keep having birthdays!

D: Corn, Kale, Cornbread w/ butter

Snack: Popcorn, Chex Mix and 2 pieces of toast with jam

Total was about 1625 - not too bad, but no exercise.

Am working at the Deli tonight. See you tomorrow.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Hello everyone. Hope you had a grat weekend. I did OK on the weekend food-wise - considering my second job is in a DELI - that is really saying something!

Seriously they mostly do fried foods and that does NOT tempt me AT ALL. I smelled so much fried chicken by the time I left I smelled like fried chicken! It wasn't bad work and the "cast of characters" was pretty entertaining. It's not a bad part-time job, I think. We'll see.

Went out to eat at Bonefish Grill on Sat night with another couple and the food was good. I got Bang-Bang Shrimp appetizer, which I couldn't eat all of and a small salad, some bread - not bad - but I had a martini - a real occasion for me (as I've said before I am almost a tee-totaler). It was a very good drink and I only had the ONE. The flavor was Pomegranate/Mango!!

I exercised on Sunday, did laundry, got together with a friend for fellowship and a little shopping and went to my daughter's dance exhibition in the evening. She and her partner looked wonderful and got lots of applause. There were no awards given, but I was very proud of her.

Today has been OK day, so far. I have had the following and will update later:

B: Coffee, Banana

L: Pretzel crackers, ham, lite mayo, 1 C home-made (lite)potato soup, diet coke

Look for my full menu later........

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Hello everyone. It's me using my old hollybelle name again. I decided I don't have to be a new anything to have the behavior I need to have to be healthy.

Yeterday was a disaster. I over-ate and didn't exercise. Today will be better. I am going to begin to work part-time in the grocery store in my neighborhood to have some extra income for awhile. As you know I'm looking for full-time employment, too. I am really at a point where I don't know where I am going, but we have all been there before. Something will work out.

In the meantime, I want to be ready for my future by being as healthy as I can be.

It's raining here today. We have had a beautiful and warm autumn so far. I want to ride bike/walk this weekend, but I think it is going to be wet. Also, I think I may be scheduled to work on Saturday or Sunday.

So far today I've had:

B: Tea with splenda Banana

Lunch will be left-over Chinese - yum planning pork chops and vegetables for dinner. Goal - just to be reasonable and exercise a bit

Have a blessed day everyone.

I don't have the password for my new nickname - anewhb or ANEWHB - not sure if it's going to be in all caps or not! The password is at work, so won't start using that until tomorrow. Don't forget to look for me there.

Yesterday was good! I got on the Mt. Bike!!! I rode by myself for about 45-50 minutes - not quite sure the exact time I left the house. it was good. I took an easy route and didn't go up the steep hills for now. My shoulder hurts a little, but it was such good exercise. As far as eating. Not too bad. No real big desserts yesterday. Although I did eat a lot of the special grapes I get this time of year. I had dinner with friends last night - we had hamburgers, but I could only eat 1/2 of mine, and corn on the cob and grilled vegetables. I was glad to have somewhere to go.

Plan to ride again today. Also want to do at least 15 min on ET. I have a lot of laundry and house work inside and outside to do.

God bless.

LOOK FOR ME UNDER A NEW NAME TOMORROW - LOOK FOR me under: ANEWHB - get it? "A NEW HB" (A New HollyBelle)

*******************************************

Instead of stating what I DON'T like about my life right now - I think I will focus on what I DO like. I am just making myself sick (in more ways than one) by focusing so much on the chaos. This too shall pass. This includes the house situation and my weight loss/health issues!! So here goes.....

We were able to meet with the contractor yesterday morning and get some things set for the next phase of the house restoration. The bathroom will be next - I wish they would go ahead and get the den and kitchen finished completely so I could at least move everything back in there, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen as soon as I want - oh well, we are gettingi used to eating on the counter - standing up or on the couch or in the floor. Ha! I am excited about the tile work they are going to do. I am excited to have a new look in there. I am excited to have new carpet almost all over the whole house - even if that's on us - not the insurance company. I am excited to have fresh paint all over most of the house. I am excited and looking forward to having my friends over again when this is all done - I think I'll have a "toast the new bathroom party" when it's all done. I miss having people over to the house. I like to entertain. It will be a fun night when I can get everyone over for the "blessing of the bath" night!!!

Anyway - yesterday I decided to take a vacation day from work since we spent so much time with the contractor. I just hung out with the dogs and puttered around the house and rested. Later I went for 1.5 hour walk in the woods. Just me and doggies. It was fun. They have cut a big gas line easment in part of the park where I ride mt. bike. It's so much wider. I think tonight I'll try to ride through there a little. It should be easier than the very narrow path that was there.

I ate just OK - a little too much. We had BLT's again and green beans and corn. I fixed a diet ginger ale and sherbet float afterwards. Gotta cut back on those things soon.

Hope everyone is having a good one - God bless.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!
