B:  Coffee, one ancient grains toast with honey

EARLY lunch - same as yesterday exactly!

S:  Small Dairy Queen cone

Not hungry at all right now!  4:30.  Husband had to have minor surgery today so I took off work.  We had to get up early and he didn't eat before hand so I grabbed coffee and toast.  We had early lunch at same restaurant I ate lunch in yesterday and then he wanted Dairy Queen treat.  I could have done worse.  I will eat really light tonight and update here.

thinkpositive on 09/16/2015:
Not bad really and yes your husband probably enjoyed sharing the cone with you.

Umpqua on 09/17/2015:
I hope all went well with the surgery. Good job with the consistent eating!

livinglight on 09/17/2015:
Its great you got to spend some quality time with your husband.

Ate too much today - but it was healthy and mindfully eaten and I walked two miles.  Food was:

B:  1 piece of Ancient Grain Toast with 1t peach jam / 1 cup coffee

L:  @Good Foods Café - 1/2 C red beans and rice / 1-1/2 C spinach salad with 1/2 boiled egg, peas, goat cheese and balsamic vinegarette

S:  1/2 C maple yogurt and 1/4 C hemp and flax seed granola

D:  Meatballs and sauce / cabbage, carrots and tea

Drank 40ish oz of water - pretty good for me.

Tomorrow will be better but I give myself some points for water and exercise today.

livinglight on 09/15/2015:
Well done :)

ohioraven on 09/15/2015:
A pretty good day.

Umpqua on 09/15/2015:
Excellent clean foods and walking, well done! And I just saw a recipe with goat cheese, need to pick some up since it's soooo good.

OK, so I haven't been doing all that well with food or exercise.  Lots going on that I will post about at some point, but I read all the comments about eating high fat and sugar related to not getting the signal that I am full!  How soon we forget!  I think that is why.  Getting back on better eating habits tomorrow.  Starting tomorrow out with a long walk and some healthy oatmeal for breakfast.

I am making spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tomorrow, but I can have a big salad and small serving of spaghetti and meatballs and make it work OK. This week will be better.

More later.....

horn_of_plenty on 09/13/2015:
Sorry to hear it's been a little struggle at your end. Hopefully you can find the time to relax and write more about it...

And as for your dinner, that's how I do things too. Lots of veggies and usually smaller portions of everything else :)

ohioraven on 09/13/2015:
Hi, Holly. Sometimes it's hard to find time for ourselves. We are SO busy. Spaghetti is My monster in my closet. I used to eat it all the time. Now I can't go near it. Maybe if I was on death row I'd eat it again. But it's a habit I can't have a little of. It would be like giving a drink to an alcoholic. I just wouldn't be able to stop. Anyway sorry to rant on your dinner. I don't mean it that way. I'm always glad to see your posts. Enjoy your walk today. Hang in there KentuckyGirl.

puddles on 09/13/2015:
I also have a hard time having spaghetti - I think actually I must be Italian because anything pasta and tomatoe is right up my alley of comfort. I turn into a bottomless pit. Have a great day.

Umpqua on 09/14/2015:
Good attitude Holly, and I know how tough this battle can be, especially when other stuff in life complicates things. I hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend!

It's not why I haven't posted all week - I've been so busy or tired or BOTH!  But this week has not been a good food week.  Not absolutely awful, but just not that good.  I have a question for all my DD buddies.....I have been experiencing an odd thing.  I don't feel full when I eat.  Now, although I have struggles with weight maintenance - my issue is not food volume - I actually don't like to feel full at all, but my issue is more around what I eat - sweets, fats,  et., but all week - I haven't gotten that "too full" feeling which usually stops me from eating when I know I have eaten enough.  Anyone else have this?

Walks X 2 only.  Taking off work today!  Yay!  Will catch up on your diaries.  More later......

thinkpositive on 09/04/2015:
I think I missed that gene- the one that tells me that I have had enough to eat. I do feel more satisfied when I don't eat sugar & flour- fewer cravings & I stay more in control.

puddles on 09/04/2015:
I can also be a bottomless pit but I find that without sugar and the white stuff totally illiminated from my food choices I do not get the bottomless pit as much actually hardly.

biscottibody59 on 09/04/2015:
It may just be the choices if the higher calorie things have been taking over. Just a guess:-)

Maybe emphasize some simply prepared vegetables for a couple of meals and see if that feeling persists?

Enjoy your weekend!

Umpqua on 09/08/2015:
I agree with the above advice, when I eat foods that are higher in fat and sugar I don't get the signal that I need to stop. This never happens with veggies and lean protein, the bad carbs are often the culprit. I hope you had a nice weekend!

Maria7 on 09/11/2015:
Yes...I find that the more starchy carbs I eat (breads, sweets, etc.), the less I feel full but when I do a more low-carb diet I not only feel better I feel fuller. Fats help one feel fuller, too. But breads, sweets, etc. seem to make me want more and more of them. Hope you are having a good day. :-D

Two hour long walks today!  Food - not too bad - a little over.  Baby girl came for a short visit today and will go out of town with her Mom and Dad to visit her Aunt, Uncle and 1st cousin in Louisville tomorrow. So I will have time for catching up on my housework and returning some things to the Mall!  I didn't get around to my weights, but we stopped by daughter's house and I picked up 3-4 exercise videos and will do one tomorrow that includes weights.  Want to get a early morning (short) bike ride in, too!

Sweet dreams, all.  Sayonara!

Umpqua on 08/30/2015:
Excellent work on the walks, and I hope you're having a great and healthy day today!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/30/2015:

Happy Friday everyone.  Hectic week so no posts for last few days.  I have done very well on food this week - but exercise not so well.  I will have only 3 walks in this week.  Better than nothing.  I am going to do a walk and weights tomorrow morning.

I have just about come to a big decision.  By Spring 2016 I plan to quit work.  This week has about done me in.  I took this job to make a change and have a job that I could enjoy and perhaps eventually take my bosses job when she retires. I enjoy the work, but I do not care for the culture of the company and I sincerely do not care for my coworkers - I have always gotten along well with coworkers everywhere I have worked but these are unlike any people I have EVER met.  I do not need to surround myself with an atmosphere like this at this point in my life.  Also having an aging mother who may need more care over the next few year and having no siblings and a desire to be there for my granddaughter more in the future are driving forces in this decision.  So, that said, I am going to make plans to exit in April or May!

Tomorrow morning I am planning a small session with my weights an an early walk with a friend and catching up on housework that has gone undone since husband was out of town - oh, and a pedicure!  Need the toes done!  Will probably babysit at some point, too! I will have the Friday before Labor Day off work and we are going to a family get together on Saturday of Labor Day weekend in Cincinnati.

Baby girls first week in daycare/school has gone pretty well and son in law has one week at his new job!  Praise God for the good things and thank Him for the harder ones that provide us with those opportunities to grow in our faith.  The hotter the fire the stronger the steel!

livinglight on 08/29/2015:
Enjoy the weekend!

thinkpositive on 08/29/2015:
That's quite a decision. Maybe it will make your work life more tolerable knowing that you have an exit paln. Sounds like a busy weekend- have fun.

hollybelle on 08/29/2015:
I hope so, TP!

ohioraven on 08/29/2015:
Good post today, Holly.

Umpqua on 08/29/2015:
Congratulations on this decision, I'm sure it didn't come easily! I absolutely agree that you don't need to be in a negative or toxic environment at this stage of your career or life. I did that for 6 years, when I was younger and at an important stage in my career, and it did a number on my self esteem. So you are wise to make this choice - life is too short for that nonsense!

It sounds like you have a nice weekend planned, enjoy it!

hollybelle on 08/29/2015:
Yes, self-esteem suffered initially and I kept thinking somehow I could influence it for the better and overcome the nastiness an negativity- bit now I am just plain disgusted and ticked off!

Well,, I am feeling better, thank goodness.  Daughter and I wound up not going to the food fair - it is going on today again - noon until 7:00.  It is a fair of local vendors featuring locally sourced foods - you can sample them for $$$ and they have music by local bands, etc.  I may go for awhile today.

Babysat for Rosalie for about 4 hours.

I did really well on the food and walked yesterday.

Will do better than that today.  More on that later..........

thinkpositive on 08/23/2015:
I wouldn't do well at a food fair- too many temptations & it would be a struggle not to indulge. I do love them though- lots of good community feeling. How old is Rosalie?

ohioraven on 08/23/2015:
I would NOT do too well at the fair either, Holly. Way too much temptations. Unless there were pickles and sauerkraut.

puddles on 08/23/2015:
I am really starting to think that we can go anywhere we want as long as we are aware of our limitations and are willing to stick to them. Enjoy your day.

Very busy week and have not felt very well the last 3 days.  Stomach has been off. Sometimes nuts make me ill and I may have eaten too many in conjunction with other foods that don't mix well.  I will eat lightly the next few days and take zantac to calm it down.  Husband has last business trip of the year. Leaves tomorrow and comes home Thurs night.  Daughter and granddaughter and I are supposed to go to food festival tomorrow night.  Hope my tummy calms down by then.  Samples of food from local restaurants and stuff.  It's at a city park.  Weather is supposed to be good.

I have eaten OK this week, but only walked one day.  I want to get a bike ride in tomorrow morning.

Son in Law begins new job Monday!  Yay!  Baby girl starts daycare/preschool too - they have chosen an excellent place - Montessori School - but it's not practical - it's far away from daughter's house and work and although it's close to SIL's work - they don't open early enough for him to transport her.  Daughter has rearranged her schedule to be able to take and pick her up.....we'll see.  It's their choice.  I am feeling like I want to quit work and keep her - but I would only want to 2-3 days week - not every day!  Maybe in the Spring!

puddles on 08/22/2015:
Sounds like everybody's routine will be change with the new schedule. Hope you feel better soon. Have a great day.

livinglight on 08/22/2015:
Feel better soon Hollybelle, hope you are well enough to enjoy the festival! Enjoy the day :)

grannyannie on 08/22/2015:
Hope you feel better and have a nice time tomorrow. My husband gets sick when he eats too many nuts.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/22/2015:
yep, I've heard of the Montessori school! Best of luck to everyone in your family on their new experiences. I hope you feel better...usually I shy away from fairs and things where there's "crap" food because I know I will have a hard time choosing food, etc., because it gets me all anxious to not know what i'll be eating / save calories for that kinda thing lol. ugh...sometimes I wish I had a more normal relationship with diet & exercise but really I wouldn't be me if I did! anyways, feel better.

maybe you are anxious about your husband being away and that's part of the stomach issues? you never know...

hollybelle on 08/23/2015:
We wound up not going to the fair - but it wasn't that type of fair - it was vendors who were sampling their locally sourced food. Pretty healthy things. Local meat, other organic canned and bottled products and local music etc.

Busy weekend!  Babysat from 6:00-1:00 am on Friday night-Saturday morning - yes they actually picked that baby up at 1:00 a.m.  Miraculously she didn't wake up!  Saturday got up EARLY and went to breakfast with a friend and to an Art Fair downtown - walked around a lot and bought a couple of things.  This Art Fair has been produced for 40 years here.  Then got haircut and went to the grocery for a few thing.  Sunday did some house cleaning and babysat for a couple of hours in the morning, went to Sam's Club and to the Mall for a quick return of some things I bought last week that I tried on at home and didn't work.  Then to the grocery and home to make Greek salad - yum and grilled chicken - then the kids came back for dinner and I went to my Mom's to take her some of the dinner and get gas for her car.

Over all I have been very active, but no real exercise.  I over ate Saturday, but stayed in goals on Sunday - I will do well this week - busy week at work and I am motivated to stay on track.  I have lots of Fall and Winter clothes I want to fit in!  I need some energy.

puddles on 08/17/2015:
