Well HELLOOOO all you in DD-land. I'm back from CATSville!

The play was absolutely wonderful. The theatre staff thought we had rented professional costumes they had no idea we made them outselves. Just a tribute to all the hard work that went into the play by not only the actors, but the "behind the scenes" folks, too. I am so proud of my daughter. She had the only spoken lines in the play as well as singing about 6 lines of a song or two by herself - no small feat for a DANCER. She is just multi-talented, I guess! LOL LOL LOL!

Anyway - I have done OK on the food, but not spectacular. Ate some good food, some bad food and not enough food from time to time and no exercise except running up and down the backstage steps at the theatre - that is work. BUT......there is light at the end of the tunnel - I am going for a walk in a couple of hours with my friend (daughter's boyfriend's mother)and that will be just the beginning of getting back into the routine. Have a roast beef in the oven with dry Lipton's Onion Soup mix - yum. Will have carrots and mashed potatoes, green beans for dinner. Family hasn't had a decent meal at home for some time.

Greengirl (Anne) - thanks for the comments and I briefly read your post, but left no comments. So glad to see you back posting.

McWoo (Julie) - Here I am girl - I plan to get back in the swing. Thanks for not forgettng me and leaving those "keep in touch" messages. You know it does help to know that I would be missed if I didn't come back. Makes me remember we are all in this together and the success we have had AND WILL HAVE together!!!

I am still thinking about full-time work and don't know what will happen with husband's job. I have two leads for jobs that I think I have a pretty good chance at. Both would probably pay about $15,000 more a year but would require a minimum 10 more hours a week and probably even MORE. I have decided to just investigate and let God to the rest!

Love and Kisses to all - God Bless Holly

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

mmuraro on 03/16/2008:
Hey Holly, that's so great about the play. Congrats to you and your daughter. What kind of dance was it? And I am sure you got more than enough exercise! And OF COURSE we'd miss you if you didn't come abck. So don't even think about that. :)

Enjoy your walk!

thinnsidenotout on 03/16/2008:
Holly, glad to hear you had a successful play (costume wise and daughter)....

Looking forward to hearing more from you and seeing you continue on the road to your goal....

Updated my menu from yesterday just now. I didn't eat much at all. Amazing. Couldn't do this every day and wouldn't. I'm so stressed right now. In a big delimma on what to do about my job situation. There are two people I'm talking to about job - both are full time and lots more money-but do I want to do that now? Am I ready to go full time now, would either of these jobs work for me and family? Husband's job situation ( you will remember he got a new one after 19 years in November) is not so great right now. Not his fault - he walked into a terrible situation and it isn't really getting any better. So this and the fact that I don't know how secure my situation in this job is right now is making me feel like I "should" look for fulltime opportunity while these two opening are out there. For those of you who don't know - and that's most of you - 3 years ago I went from working 60-70 hours a week (for years) to being unemployed for 6 months, my daughter going through a serious illness and beginning to work part time (30 hours per wk). I know I let my job (what I did for a living) define me too much for a healthy attitude. I "think" I have learned that and grown in some ways in my life, but I have some fear leaving my safe little environment and venturing out again.

So anyway - that's where I am now. Sorry for any ranting I have done, but it does feel better to get it out! At least temporarily!

So far today I have had coffee only but just ordered a tuna sandwich from subway for lunch. More later - I'll be at the theatre most of the night tonight. Ah, I loe the smell of the place. Can't wait to see the show on stage!

B: Coffee w cream and splenda

L: Subway 6" tuna, bakes chips, cookie 630

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Beth201P on 03/11/2008:
That is a hard one. You have to follow your heart and take the road that you feel is the best choice for you. I have had a lot of choices in my life and afterward I wanted to kick my butt, because I took the wrong route. However, that is how we learn from our mistakes in our lives. I wish everything would just fall in place like a puzzle, but lifes not like that. Plus if it where we would get really bored. LOL Well I hope it comes clear on what you need to do, I wish you the best of luck and will keep you in my prayers. Have a good Tuesday. Beth :)

workingit2 on 03/11/2008:
Welcome back! I wish I could find a job with more money right now. We all have to do what we have to do in order to preserve our family situation. If it were ONLY about money, it would be easy. I wish you the best =)

thinnsidenotout on 03/11/2008:
You have put so much work into preparing this "show"...Tiring, but has it's rewards I am sure...

I have tossed around the idea of getting a job outside of the home for the last 2 years (been doing childcare for 14 years almost) and I still have at least another year commitment to fulfill (actually, the baby I commited to watching may be born today/tomorrow) and then reaccess my situation and desires to venture out in the BIG world... Pharmacy is my field of choice...did that for 9 years and almost went to train for pharmacist (8-9 years of schooling), but couldn't get passed the human cadavers (sp?) and basically disecting a human body to get through to getting a license...maybe tech again....

You will make your choice and I just hope that it all works out well for you in whatever you decide.

Have a Fun Day! :}

thinnsidenotout on 03/11/2008:
Pharmacy Tech Info:) I never imagined I would go into anything that dealt with the medical field. I had filled out an application for a cashier position and had to take an ap test @ ShopKo when I was 18. Not to brag, but truth is, I had made a grade higher than anybody else had in the history of their hiring...{I'm not that smart anymore:} They put my job app. on the head pharmacist desk. They were looking for someone to be a tech at that time....So I got that job and loved every minute of my learning there the next 3 years to move onto another place for another 6 years, til starting a family........In the State of Wa. you don't have to have any training to be a level "B" tech, bout you do have to have a notorized certificate filled out, saying that you swear that you have never been convicted of any drug related infractions. You have to have some training & pass some sort of test to be an "A" tech, because you are allowed to label & fill the prescription bottles, then the pharmacist checks all of it before being given to the patient... My cousin took my place where I worked 14 years ago and she is still there (Bi-Mart/ Employee Owned Discount Store) filling nursing home prescription orders and I think she is making around $12-$13/hr.... Not positive, but that seems about right...I was making journeyman wage @ $9/hr and that was when the minimum wage was like $5.75. I am sure it has increased substantially. I was only a level "B", but getting ready to train for "A" and get compensated accordingly when licensed... Fast paced work and makes the day go by fast, plus it is a mentally challenging job. That is what I liked about it.. I made myself learn all the reasons for a medication being prescribed, etc..just to educate myself if I ever did go to Pharmacist school, I would of been that much more ahead of the learning process....I would look at the pills and know what they were suppose to look like and would check the bottles before putting them on the shelf. If I caught a mistake that may have been made (wrong meds in the bottle)....etc... Just something I chose to do, but not a prerequesit of the job title.. Saved a couple Pharmacist "behinds" that way too...... Didin't mean to ramble on, but you could probably google Pharmacy technician for your sate and it would give you the requirements..

Hi Holly, sorry to here you have a dilema on your hands.I think you have to decide what is right for your family, and how much you need coming in.Would you like to go back full -time??You seem to of enjoyed doing 'stuffs' at the theatre could'nt you start doing a job behind the scenes.I hate my job now(up early mornings) but it fits in with homelife, and i thought i would find something else when the girls are a little older.I was in the caring proffession for 15yrs,but i don't think i would like to back to that. The top and bottom of it it's just having the confidence to get yourself out there.Don't let it stress you out too much, take your time and think it through with hubby.GOOD LUCK and keep us posted,Julie

greengirl on 03/12/2008:
Oh dear Holly , I'm sorry to hear that your hubbys job isnt what he was hoping it would be, and that you are going through uncertainty with yours. There is nothing worse than uncertainty for stressing you out, is there? Try to keep positive, and take care of yourself and your family. I hope you find a way to resolve your problems soon .

Hello all. I'm back. I plan to start writing down all my menus this week. I must do this to see any results.

We didn't get as much snow as we thought we would about 4.5 inches. Just enough for them to call of play rehearsals - I didn't think they should have and for us all to go sledding with daughter and her boyfriend. We had a ball.

Worked on costumes and wig yesterday and still have two wigs that need a little work to go.

Julie - you are right I need to put something in the crock pot to cook so that my dinner is ready when I get home. I did make some chili this week end that we will be able to eat a few nights. Going to be a long week, but play will be over after this week.

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping up the food success. Thanks for your comments. I'll check on a couple of you later. If you are new and I haven't commented yet - I will when life slows down a bit. This is a great site and I'm going to be hanging around.

B: Corn cake and syrup, small 1% milk 350

L; Got too late to eat so ate early dinner

D: Ham sandwich with honey mustard Pineapple Fruit Parfait

OK I really didn't eat much yesterday - unbelievable!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

mmuraro on 03/10/2008:
I am still very excited about this costumes and wigs. I love any arts and crafts! So good for the mind too! And how fun to play on the snow!

Thanks for your comment. it's hard for me to think he and I are not meant to be because of too many signs. For example, one day I was home watching a movie on DVD we both like and thinking of him. Half way through the movie I get a text message from him saying he's watching that same movie and thought of me!!! Isn't that crazy? Anyway, I try not to think there's no hope, but at the same time i am not counting on anything else happening there other than friendship, because I don't want to just hold myself back from other things and plans that don't include him. Thanks for the advice. Xo.

Hello all. Just popping in to say hello. I have been working on costunes and this week was my professional association's big annual symposium. I am Education Chair so lots to do. It was a success. The costumes are coming along - we load into the theatre on Monday and then it will be over on 3/15.

Food and exercise - not bad - not great. I've been having some great days and I've been having some not so great (but not really bad) days with food. I have not been exercising much at all - walking some and at lunch I've gone up and down the stairs at work several times for exercise.

Weather here is still hit and miss. It's beautiful today, but is supposed to snow 3 inches on Saturday. Yikes!

I've been reading diaries some and posting a little. Thanks for checking in with me. I'll get more regular again soon, I promise. I'm not gone forever. I'll be back. Have a blessed day - Holly

Hey its me again. Thanks for coming by and keeping up with me. I am doing OK on the diet front. Eating mostly light breakfast and big lunch - light dinner. Costumes coming along - now on to the wigs! More weather delays for rehearsals, though.

I'll probably have a lot to tell once I do post regularly again. Miss you all.

Hi everyone! SORRY I haven't posted in a few days. I miss you all and will be checking in briefly on how everyone has been doing but probably WON'T be able to comment much - figure you won't miss my 2 cents much!

I have been working on costumes for the CATS production. They look so great! I have done 4 and have 8 more to go. Also - couple of wigs!!! but that's another story.

I have been doing pretty well on the eating front - exercise, not so much, but have managed to sneak a couple of walks in as well as washing BOTH dogs yesterday! I don't think I have lost but have maintained and migh be down a pound or maybe even two.

More later.....

mmuraro on 02/25/2008:
that's so cool about the costumes. is that a second job you have? Oh no worries on answering that, you can do it when you have more time. I think when you're busy, you have to use your extra time for your walks, a nice and quiet meal and rest. :)

workingit2 on 02/25/2008:
Hey Holly!

CritterMom on 02/26/2008:
Washing dogs is a workout in itself. Sounds like you're "up to your eyeballs" in the costume-making. When will the production be?

Good luck with the CATS costumes. That has to be a chore. My son is in the final 7 weeks of rehersal for Joseph. Almost crunch time. We are still waiting on the information to do the program. Our drama coach waits till the last minute to hand us anything.

Tuesday wasn't so great if you see my entry below you will see 1560 calories for the day. Kind of got ambushed and let it get to me. I came home at night and daughter had made BIG pan of brownies. I was hungry and ate 4. Normally I could resist, but just didn't :( I had planned for lasagne with mostly low fat ingredients and did eat a smaller portion than I'd planned but still did not counter act the brownies.

Today not too bad so far

B: 1/2 bagel with cream cheese sm coffee 275

L: Big bowl of homemade vegetable beef soup and pretzels 400 will update later.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Get back up, dust yourself off and try try again..... What else can you do? NOT eat ANYMORE brownies? YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

mmuraro on 02/20/2008:
I learned that if I start my day with some fresh fruit I am less likely to crave sweets throughout the day. Now it's time for super sweet oranges and delicious pineapples. Also tell your family to keep sweets away from you and give you a mean look whenever you start having more than a bite. :)

Monday was a better day. 1430 in calories but no exercise. Hope to make today even better - maybe around 1300 - but 1400 is OK, too. Working on costumes took up a lot of time and didn't have time to eat in the late afternoon. Meeting with my friends at Panera (accountability group) was hungry - made choice of bagel and cream cheese. Next time may consider soup. Since we will be meeting there every week I might check out the Panera info on calorieking.com to come up with what I know to be some of the better choices for the future.

Anyway so far today: more bread!!

B: Toast and jam, coffee 200

L: 2 McD Grilled chix wrps - NO sauce 480

S: Brownies 4 - 480

D: Lasagne - homemade with low fat stuff - so not too bad. will update later. 400

Total Cal: 1560

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

RE: Consistent time to yourself...I hear you loud an clear...I have done childcare for 13 years and oh, how I look forward to the day that our daughter (8) is a bit older and I will look for a job outside of the home... I think maybe the last time I had the house to myself was when I was sick a couple Sunday's ago..Quality time huh? and that was the first in over 2 years I think... I enjoy & love the kids alot, but there are just those times I wish I had just a couple hours to crank up the music & do what I want AT HOME....

Sounds as your Monday went pretty successful....Keep up the positive thinking and check out that calorieking.... GOOD DAY!

CritterMom on 02/19/2008:
Been so long since I had bread that I'm not even sure I remember what it tastes like. I usually get a nice salad at Panera. They had one that had dried apples, nuts, and a nice vinegar-based dressing.

Nice to have another support group. Will have to look up calorieking.com. We go there now and then. I had to stop the carbs with the bread and all. I found that I would just not lose. Maybe it is an age thing for me. Good luck.

mcwoo40 on 02/19/2008:
Hiya Holly, thanks for your comment. It just shows if you have a hiccup on your diet just put it behind you and you will eventually see results.I've just had the curry, did'nt enjoy it really i think i've had it so many times i'm bored of it.I do like mango chutney with popadoms with an Indian curry but it has to be a mild one.I'm a sucker for bread it's my worse downfall more than sweet stuff.I just have 3 medium slices of brown aday instead of about 15 slices of white(in the old days)I'm not joking either. What i do is keep the loaf in the freezer and take it out when i need it for toasting mainly.Just have no bread tomorrow if you have gone OTT with it,do you have rice cakes where you are?We have them with a cheese powder on them, and i put low-fat garlic and herb soft cheese for an alternative to bread. They do a chocolate one which i have'nt had or a caramel one, it's like pop corn. They are ok if you want something sweet i think they are about 30cals each??Till tomorrow,Julie

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/19/2008:
those wraps are heaven. I believe i had one once! LOL. I might be mistaken and just had the fried chicken without the wrap. McDonalds sure knows how to provide flavor, or maybe i mean SODIUM! LOL. No, i do like there food, too!

Sunday was not a good day on calories. Husband brough home ice cream - which I can usually ignore because I really prefer ice cream parlors to the supermarket kind, but I ate a big sundae of all things!! I also went for an hour walk with husband and both dogs. We all had a good time.

Menus were:

B: Coffee, 2 pieces of toast with jam 330

L: Pear, chocolate, ice cream sundae 700

D: 1/2 + 2 bites of Cheeseburger w/everything except mayo/5 Onion Rings 700

At least I didn't eat between meals?????!!!!!! No, I don't think I get points for that - LOL!

I think the total was about 1730 - maybe 1800.

Today will be better. I will post another entry to start counting for today.
