Didn't get to update last night. Made homemade chicken soup. It was really good and had that for supper. Had a bowl of cereal late, too. Also made salad and pimento cheese and crackers for supper for Husband and daughter, but I didn't have that - just the soup. The soup was vry low fat as I used chicken breasts which didn't yield much fat 98% fat free broth from a can! Additionally I walked 35 minutes yesterday afternoon and I walked this morning at 5:30 I might add with my neighbor for 50 minutes!

I am excited because someone I have worked with in my industry (insurance) has recently moved to my neighborhood and we are planning some walks together. She is a little heavier than she needs to be (I think she said her goal weight loss is 25 lbs), younger than me and very motivated. We are going to start tonight.

So, things are looking up on the exercise front and I find that I am more motivataed to eat better things. I am planning to go to lunch with friend (former co-worker) so we'll see how that goes!

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

Have'nt you been good Holly, keep it up.It sure is soup weather here.I used to make loads of soup,i used to cook at the old peoples home for 3yrs.I like the chicken and sweetcorn soup that the chinese do I'm sure that would be low-fatish.Keep motivated,it's great that you have found an exercise buddy you can spur each other on,have a brilliant day,Julie

greengirl on 11/29/2007:
Hi Hollybelle :o) How I wish I had an exercise buddy to give me a bit of motivation. I have been seriously slacking on the exercise front and my fledgeling muscles are turning back to flabby!!!! Hope you have a great walk with your new buddy :o)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/29/2007:
it's great to have a walking buddy! enjoy your walks! i'm crossing my fingers that my date will go pretty well. It seems that this guy is pretty charismatic and very positive from the conversations i have had over the phone. :)

fritters on 11/29/2007:
That is really nice that you will have a neighbor to walk with. It is a good motivator. You have been doing really well at maintaining.

Teriyaki on 11/29/2007:
Homemade chicken soup....mmmm......sounds good. Hope you enjoy the walk tonight

workingit2 on 11/30/2007:
How nice to have a buddy!

Thank you for the comments on stress, I agree 100%. And oooohhh you know I was glad to find out that I really still do have STD LOL. Oh I almost passed out thinking that I wouldn't have any income at all! Finances are tight right now, and will be tighter..but it is better than having nothing. I see a lot of tuna and soup in my diet lol.

Great job on the walking and returned motivation!

Did great yesterday until.......I have noticed that I have been doing that alot lately - I have been having "until" days! Yesterday it was "until" chocolate chip cookies with my daughter at our favorite bakery after school. They were good, but I have gone in there when I was "in the zone" and not had a thing! I need to just skip the "until"s and I can get this done.

Will update later...........

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

workingit2 on 11/28/2007:
I just got caught up on your last entry, sorry to hear about the doggie! Happy to hear that your daughter is recovered and I am with you on the teenage issues. I just found out some heavy stuff about my second oldest son and it breaks my heart. There isn't enough money in the world to make me want to be a teenager again in this evil world. It is so difficult for them.

Chocolate chip cookies, home made...doesn't matter, if they are around I WILL eat them. *sigh*

The ballroom dancing sounds fun! I have two left feet which is why I stopped considering doing it myself LOL. And as far as the tight clothes, Oh man do I know where you are coming from with that! I woke up last night in pain and my stomach was so swollen..it still is today as these idiotic fibroids are swelling and killing me. SO I put on my 14's and they barely zipped up. It reminded me of getting into those 10's and having to lay on the bed to zip them...it is so heartbreaking right now..but it does keep me from pigging out and making the problem worse. I seriously look like I am 4 or 5 months pregnant. I cannot wait until the surgery is over and I have recovered and then I can join you in the weight loss/exercise thing again! ((((((Hug))))))

mcwoo40 on 11/28/2007:
Hi Holly, how yummy do they sound.By your progress chart you seem to be maintaining so take that as your treat for the week.My clothes are so uncomfortable, anything i put on i look awful in them.My work trousers if i bend i think i am going to rip them,But i am not going to buy a bigger size i vow not to.I used to go ballroom dancing when i was about ten years old.1,2 cha-cha -char.I did'nt do it for long don't know why i gave up.Good for you to start lessons. When i get slimmer i would like to take up salsa dancing supposed to be good exercise sexy moves too Woo-Hoo Too!!Take care,Julie

Yesterday was not so bad. Very busy - first day back from 5 days off. Thanks for all your comments, everyone - it's good to know I am not forgotten!

I have not been writing down my menus as I vowed to do. I did it for several days and then didn't. Even though I am not eating in a way to lose weight I am not out of control totally or even a little. I would only have to cut down calories by 200-300 to see some results. My clothes are a little too tight. Just enough that I am self-conscience in them and I don't like that. I will get it together.

I haven't been riding bike in woods as it's too cold or rainy most days lately, or I don't have time. Time is in short supply right now. I haven't been doing ET or anything else, either! I got up early this a.m. and walked the younger dog for 30 minutes since he has to stay in kennel all day due to his stitches - did I tell you Elle bit him? What a mess. Very expensive, too.

Then - news - daughter has been taking ballroom dancing lessons and I decided that since I am there to take her and have to wait around for her -I am going to take a few lessons, too. We set up the first lesson for next Monday. Woo-Hoo! I'll be sure to report on my progress.

So far so good today. I may go to lunch out, but will keep it reasonable. have Banquet Crock Pot Meatballs Stroganoff cooking for dinner. This was daughter's choice. Oh, dear diary pals - I am so grateful for her recovery. Now if we could just get some of these "teenage" issues behind us - Ha-Ha-Ha! How wonderful to have "normal" problems.

Until next time all - Love, Holly

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

You will have to keep me in the loop on the ballroom dancing. this is great exercise and is something that a friend and i talked about doing in 2008. Thank you for your wonderful motivating comments!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/27/2007:
i know what you mean by being self conscious in your clothes. eesh. i've been that way for a few months now...since october :( It's so hard to change...to change my outlook on this whole dieting thing...

Hello all. It's been awhile since I have posted on my diary although I have been reading all of yours and making a few comments. Things are OK here in KY. Cold and rainy today. I have been so busy with Thanksgiving and beginning to get ready for Christmas. I need to make some ME time. I am going to get burned out big time if I don't.

Thanksgiving was OK here. Nice family gathering and I ate "OK" over the long weekend-a little bit too much, but overall reasonable. I am holding my own weight-wise probably around 158 - not too bad, but I SO want to be around 140-145. To do that I really need to ramp up exercise and get focused like I was in the Fall of 06. I am thinking that when daughter gets her driver's license she will need me less and I will have more time for exercise. We'll see.......

Keep on keeping all, everyone. Later.......Holly

Thanks for your comments, hollybelle. As soon as you told me that my post made you sigh, I re-read it and realized that it was making ME sigh too. I guess I was venting and just needed to get it all out. Sometimes, it's hard to get myself out of the -crazy-person-that-has-to-do-everything-and-do-it-right- phase, but you made it clear that I could. Thanks for pointing it out!

workingit2 on 11/26/2007:
Hey (((((((Holly)))))))))) So very happy to see you posting, thank you for ALL your encouragement and support. It means an awful lot to me! I agree, ME time is so very very important. I have to remind myself of that every day. Some days I get it, some days i don't. Even to take a nice, hot ten minute bath is a treat!

Hey all - I have been very busy with a professional project I am in charge of - event date is this coming Wednesday. I have been ill - sinus stuff, I think, and just haven't posted lately. I'm doing OK although have endulged in too many sweets last 3 days! Must CUT THAT OUT! And no exercise due to illness.

Anyway - I am concerned that we haven't been hearing from Workingit2!!! She was to go to doctor last Monday and find out some things regardng her conditions. I have left her a couple of notes - like "where are you", etc......let's all remember her in prayer. I am hopeful all is OK, but concerned why no hear from her. As you all know she is a long-term posrer here and has had an impact on all of us.

I'll post more later - in the meantime, God Bless!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 155.6

Day 3 of the new beginning went OK.

Could have been better - could have been worse.

I didn't get the extra 30 minutes of ET in - I did go over on calories - but just a little. Today is another day and I am re-committed to my goal of healthier eating and exercise.

Menus were:

B: Coffee, 1/2 cookie (pumpkin), 120

S: Activia 70

L: Chili, Chips, Cheese 400

S: Candy 100

D: Goulash, 1/2 PBH sand 250

S: Candy 500

As you can see I went way over my 200 calorie candy budget!! Oh, well - Rome wasn't built in a day! Total calories were 1500.

Total Exercise was 30 minutes ET.

The rest of the candy went to school with my daughter - at least I hope it did. To tell you the truth - I am kind of burned out on candy now. Mostly I ate mini kitkats (Not even my Favorite) and some malted milk balls. Good Luck today everyone.

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

rae_regenbogen on 11/01/2007:
Even with going over your candy "budget" you still didn't do too bad! You also exercised which is major on Halloween day. I can't believe you found time for that! Good job! :)

I just noticed how close you are to your goal (which is also mine BTW)! I'm excited for you! :)

rae_regenbogen on 11/01/2007:
Ugh. I can't believe I just wrote major. lol. I'm officially spending too much time with kids who are heavily invested in pop culture.

fritters on 11/01/2007:
Thanks for the encourging words. Even with the extra candy, you still came out pretty good!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/02/2007:
i think my favorite calorie total is 1500. I feel like its the easiest to maintain for a few days, without feeling deprived.

Maria7 on 11/09/2007:
HEYYYY!!! 1500 calories looks fantastic to me! I think you still did real well! Big Smile to you over there in Kentucky!

mcwoo40 on 11/10/2007:
Hi Holly,Where are you?hope you are well,update soon,Julie

greengirl on 11/10/2007:
1500 is OK as total cals. I wish I could manage to stick to that!! Keep it up Hollybelle :0)

Day two of my new beginning was good.

Very hectic, but good. I didn't get to do the ET yesterday, but I already did 30 minutes this a.m. and may get to ride bike tonight!

Calories were good. Menus were:

B: Oatmeal/BS Splenda/Milk/Coffee 325

S: Activia 70

L: Tortilla Soup, Chips, Salsa 200

S: Bits and pieces of stuff at Fresh Market 150

D: Sandwich 350

S: (1)Hershey Kiss, 1/2 PB Honey Sandwich 225

The Tortilla Soup was provided by coworker and was almost fat free and the chips were few I was very hungry about bedtime so I ate the PB Honey Sandwich. Total for the day was 1290. Not bad!

I am budgeting 200 calories for candy tonight. I haven't bought any candy yet - will go to Walmart at lunch and get some. I will try to get kind I don't like so it will be easier to resist. I just keep telling myself that candy IS tasty, BUT it won't do a thing toward meeting my health goals! How true, how true!

Happy Halloween everyone.

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

fritters on 10/31/2007:
You have had a good day! It is probably smart planning for a treat tonight. I am trying to go cold turkey!!!!

hollybelle - Tuesday Oct 30, 2007
(Healthy Eating and Exercise)

Yesterday was my new Day One:

Menus were:

B: Coffee w/SF Van Creamer/Banana 165

L: Chili, 4 Ritz Crackers w/Pnut Butter/Van Activia Yogurt 525

S: Granola Bars 180

D: Goulash, 1/2 Apple 400

Grand total = 1270!!!! Woo-Hoo - My first day under 1200 in MONTHS I can do this!!!

Exercise could have been more - I really would have liked to ride the bike, but couldn't - time wise (ARGGGGHH) so I did 20 minutes on the ET. Would like to have made it 30-40, but had to take daughter to dance lesson.

Today is shaping up well, too. I believe I am mentally motivated again to do what i need to do to take care of myself. Is anybody with me??? Let's rally!!! Let's get ready to RUMBLE!!!!

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

rae_regenbogen on 10/30/2007:
Today I told a girl that I was trying to lose weight. She said, "This is the wrong time of year for that!" I completely disagree with her! What better time than now? Hooray for motivation! :)

after reading your entry, i need to reacquaint myself with Goulash! haha. you are doing nicely. I find those days of 1200 too hard to come by lately!

Greetings fellow DD'ers.

Was away all weekend. Time to get back on the program!!! I am writing all menus down again - yes - I will stick to it this time. That is how I did the best and I am ready to get going again.

I have not exercised much because of schedule and weather. It has been over a week since rode bike!!! I hate that! I did get a walk in for about 45 minutes on Saturday at the retreat I went to. But it rained alot Saturday. It was beautiful Sunday but had so much to get caught up on when I got home. The retreat was wonderful.

I expect to have many good things to report in the next few days on the lifestyle front - so look out!

Love, Holly

It's been a while since I posted - but I have taken a few minutes this week to read others entries - usually leaving no comments, though.

OK week considering it is my birthday week. Birthday was yesterday and I managed to get through without too much oveating. Co-workers made choc cupcakes and penut butter cookies. Family ordered in dinner since it was nasty weather and a week night with homework, etc. It has been very cold pouring rain and WINDY here all week so haven't been able to ride bike! Boo-Hoo!

Not too much else to say right now - going on retreat weekend this weekend - so will try to catch up on everyone's dirry before I go - or when I return on Sunday.

In the meantime - watch your food choices and get some exercise! (ME TOO.)
