Today took Mark to the airport - he'll be back Thursday.  Went shopping - found lots of stuff for my new job - some sweaters and tops.....needed some as dress will be more formal than current job - should be about all set - except need some new shoes.

B:  Iced vanilla coffee, 2 squares of chili dark chocolate

L:  Pretzel dog with mustard and 2 squares of dark chili chocolate

D:  Large bowl of salad with goat cheese, mixed greens and baby spinach, craisins, pecans, crispy won tons, poppy seed dressing

S:  1/4 C cottage cheese and 1 peach

May have a snack later,......feeet hurt form all the Mall walking!!!  Ran into my cousin whom I haven't seen in years and years - we had a nice chat in the food court!  LOL!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Didn't do too badly at dinner last night -another dinner out!!   1/2 of Singapore Noodles at PF Chang and 1 Godiva chocolate - free at the Mall afterwards. 

Off work today.  Vacation day - has been pretty stressful getting things ready for me to leave current employer.  One more week.

B:  Iced Vanilla Coffee, boiled egg

L:  small Schlotsky's original

S:  Big piece of zucchini bread  

D:  34 degree wafers and thin slice of swiss cheese, smoothie with strawberries and yogurt

Going to boil a few eggs for snacks and probably put something in the crock pot for dinner.

Saw your comments on your coffee and I always make mine at home too. Hubby has breakfast (with decaf) out every day and it really adds up. But it's a comfort thing for him since he has to leave the house and go to an office every day, and I don't. So the occasional Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts is a treat for me. I hope you have a fantastic day off!

I am so picky that hardly any coffee "suits" me. I just got some new coffee today at the local "coffee emporium" - Coffee Times - It's called 30 Blend and it's great. I was so curious that I made a pressed pot full and iced it down. I used to make pressed pot coffee all the time, but went to auto drip and I really hate it. I found a way to clean the pressed pot better. I don't like the little grounds you inevitably get with the press pot, though. I saw these per CUP little presses at the coffee place and they said they do not leave grounds at all - but they are about $35! Without KNOWING for SURE that I'd like it I'm not springing for that. I drink too much to make it one cup at a time, I think!

Yesterday was not bad on calories, really all in all, but didn't eat the best nutritionally.  Today should be more able to eat good nutrition, unless I hit a landmine on the food front.  I should be able to stick to good foods because no eating out is planned.  Yay!

I am trying to get things wrapped up for when I have my last day at current job.  I am taking a vacation day on Friday - tomorrow.  So far so good.  

B:  Iced vanilla coffee,

L:  Baby Spring Greens with 2 T poppy seed dressing and pecans, cranberries, 2 T crispy wontons, 1/2 a peach and 4 T cottage cheese - YUM!

D:  PF Changs!!!!!  1/2 Singapore Street Noodles (Gluten Free even) and 1 piece of Godiva Candy - free at the Mall

S;  Medium piece of zucchini bread

UPDATE:  For those wondering about my Iced vanilla coffee every morning - it is strong coffee + 3-4 T Natural Bliss creamer and stevia - so about 75 - 100 calories.  I dont recommend only having coffee for breakfast, and you'll notice I have a piece of fruit most days and a few bites of cottage cheese, and right now this is working for me....LOL!   It is homemade so it's not the fancy coffee shop EXPENSIVE kind either!  I added up what my friends spend on coffee "out" and it's CRAZY!  I am a cheap-skate!  You gotta figure if you got the Mickey D's version of my drink at around $2.00 for a medium sized one like I drink X 5 days a week X 50-ish weeks per year = $500 per year!!  OK Economy lesson over!

Yep and guess what? Husband wants to go to PF Chang's tonight bc we have a $10 girft card that expires end of the month! Yikes! I'll try to stick with something 1/2 way healthy!

RYC I agree about Bonefish's side dishes and unless they have an interesting enough entree special, I normally order apps for dinner..They are pretty pricy but they have really good happy hour deals :)

Yes. Wednesday nights you get $5.00 martinis and $5.00 Bang Bang Shrimp here. Problem is church is on Wed nights and I usually can't go on Wednesdays!! Dang!

Yesterday was interesting.  I went out with friends and over indulged in the evening after having lunch with a friend.

L:  1/2 turkey Cuban pannini 1/2 spinach power salad, baked Lays potato chips

D: Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer ceasar salad, peach martini, crème brulee  

Today is another day!

I am going back to Pannera for lunch AGAIN today!

B:  Iced vanilla coffee, 2 bites of cottage cheese

L:   Regular spinach salad with baguette and butter 

D:  2 bites of cottage cheese, nuts, moderate hunk of zucchini bread

Creme Brulee is about the most delicious think you have ever eaten for dessert in your life! I am NOT a pudding or custard fan BUT it's like the most delicious custard stuff topped by a caramelized layer of sugar, usually served with real, thick whipped cream and a few berries on top. It can come in different flavors, although vanilla is most usual. My favorite, however, it maple. I have also had pumpkin, peanut butter and chocolate!

YEAH, suprisingly, my boss is a GREAT cook! He prefers to use lots of sauces & spices and oil. I prefer light, sometimes even washing/rinsing food if he cooks it in heavy sauce. But there is not doubt, the food is natural, healthy, and TASTY! i throw some out when he gives too much...lol...or when it isn't as healthy, like noodle dishes...i work in quite an "alternative" environment, i guess you could say!

Went for dinner Tuesday night! I so love that Bang Bang shrimp! Their fish is good, but except for salads, I don't care of their sides. I hadn't had any for a year or so-only eat there 1-2 times a year. I think they are overpriced, so only an occasional trip!

Since I am so late getting on here today I won't update Saturday and Sunday, etc.  I did OK this weekend.  Had an indulgent dessert at lunch Saturday, but that is only thing off the radar.  I ate a little too much cornbread Sunday.....otherwise two good days.  Not too much activity because of my back, but as a result of resting it - it is much better.  Going to get on the inversion table tonight, again, and hope that puts me over the top of it's recovery!

Today I took 1/2 day off work and went over and helped daughter fold and organize about 4 shopping bags of baby clothes people have given her.  There were some really nice things.  Some still had tags and many looked like they were never worn.  Good head start on baby clothes.  It was kind of fun.  They go to their first "birthing" classes tonight - that is what they called it when we did it - but they call it something else now-days.  Can't remember, though.....LOL!  I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

B:  Iced vanilla coffee

L:  Wedge Salad, 2 mini burgers - no cheese

D:  6   34 degree wafers (if you haven't had these - get them)  1 slice of Havarti cheese, smoothie

S:  1/4 C cherry vanilla granola

Love to all - hope you Monday was good!

I'm glad your back is feeling better! I liked our birthing classes, if nothing else they were educational and helped me not to stress too much about the actual birth.

Yesterday was a bigger food day again-mostly cornbread for snacks and to add bulk to the meals.  Oh well, all good stuff and I was hungry.  I also tried to drink a beer, but wasted it.  Today I am going to a historical restaurant about an hour away with 5 friends.  There is an antique gallery there, too.  I won't buy anything, but it's fun to look.  The food is very good and it's a cute place.  You can check it out if you want to by searching on google:  The Glitz Irish Acres Nonesuch, K if you are interested in seeing the unique décor.

D:  Something on the lighter side

Back is a little better today - took it easy yesterday.  Yesterday was a pretty hungry day.  But I haven't had one in a long time.  Still trying to think of someone for my job......I would like to take some time off before I start the other one, but I am in a fine balance - I don't want to tick the current employer off and give them any reason NOT to give me my last commission check.  SIGH

B:  Iced vanilla coffee, 1/2 plain bagel and RF strawberry cream cheese 

L:  vegetable soup

S:  Cornbread

D:  Grilled chicken, green beans, 2 small new potatoes, cornbread

S:  Cornbread

OH, and last night I worked in the yard about 45 minutes.

Yesterday was another good food day & night, but no exercise.  I had a pulled muscle in my lower back.  I think it maybe a left-over injury from the dog-pulling injury at the concert last week.  It is better today, but uncomfortable enough that I don't want to walk any distance or ride my bike.  Will probably be better still by tomorrow.

B:  Iced vanilla coffee, 1/2 plain bagel with blueberry cream cheese

L:  Vegetable soup, peach, pear  

S:  4 crackers with chicken salad,

D:  Peach, cottage cheese

S:  Ice Cream drumstick 

Hope to do some exercise tonight - at least a little!

Oh my gosh!  For all my griping about the hot humid weather I am happy to report that it has cooled off here on August 14th for heaven sake!  High today of 74 degrees!  I can't believe it.  

We didn't go to concert last night because husband mowed the yard.  We just kind of munched around on left overs for dinner.  It's nice not to have to cook dinner if we don't want to.    I put a lot of pressure on myself to provide food for everyone when we were family.  Probably too much emphasis on food.  I do love to cook when I have time and I love to bake when time allows.  I love food, but it must hold only it's proper place in my life if I am going to remain healthy!

I gave my notice yesterday at current job.  It went pretty well.  Especially when I told them I had a recommendation for my replacement.  She is coming in to talk this morning at 10:30 - so hope that goes well.  I will begin my new job on 9/3 - the Tues after Labor Day holiday.  I don't mind the longer hours, but I do mind no time off at all for a year (except what I have negotiated for grandchild's birth).  But with the salary negotiation and all I guess that's going to have to do. 

When begin my new job, I won't be able to post during the day going forward - but I hope to be able to update and comment on everyone's diary in the mornings and the evenings.

UPDATE:  ate the scone at work - per above.....odd - didn't enjoy it as much as I thought.  YAY!  Not so good news - person I had in mind to replace me doesn't want to now.  Have been thinking about who can do it.  My employers don't seem that concerned about right now.  They said they hate to lose me, but understand my reasons and said they were lucky to have me over 8 years!  So, pressure is somewhat off.

I'm so happy for you on the new job, that's fantastic that everything worked out! Also great attitude about food - leftovers or piecing something together is sometimes nice. And you're right, food should not always be at the center and there are other priorities!

I also struggle with trying not to make food a centerpiece of my life. While I'm not a big fan of cooking or baking, I find myself thinking and obsessing about it all day... you've been doing a great job at it... and yes it's great to just munch and not feel the need to always cook.

As for the new job, yes no time off for a year is definitely frustrating but I do think this is a really good move forward for you and soon the first year will be a distant memory.

GRANDCHILD!!! How exciting!! And a new job too! It signifies a change for you with family structure and everything else going on. I REALLY identify with the cooking for the family need but honestly it was my own need. I just used the family for the cover up. But it was OK, because they really enjoyed it. I also needed the compliments for accomplishing another mind blowing meal. It somehow gave me purpose...But we too are enjoying just simple cold plates in the evening especially with the weather so hot. I have been riding but last night was honestly the first night I enjoyed. The temps had dropped and we were under a cloud cover. I have ridden every night except the actual surgery days and coming home for my dad. I wouldn't have done it, but hubby had bikes not only in foyer ready to go, but when I would come home, he was sitting on the sofa WEARING HIS HELMET! Sometimes I wanted to laugh, others I wanted to cry because I was really exhausted. Good Luck with your bathrooms too my cyber twin!

40% chance of showers, my eye!  It poured for over an hour in the middle of the day and was just downright drizzling the rest of the day...so humid - nasty!  Everyone's grass (except those who have very flexible schedules ) is so high it looks so funny because our neighborhood usually has nicely kept yards.

Anyway, yesterday was a good day for food, no exercise. I have been doing some upper body weights - 5 lbs about 3 days a week and not even noting it on DDs because it is so minimal, but I know it's better than nothing, so mentioning it here now.  

Will most likely give notice at my current job today.  Then to get my replacement in and see if the owners like her an she likes them....

B:  Iced vanilla coffee,  peach

L:  Beef Chaplupa no sour cream

S:  Tiny piece of birthday cake 2" square - icing on top only, and 1/4 cup choc ice cream- (work celebration-no they weren't celebrating me leaving! LOL)

D:  Cottage Cheese and peach, sm piece of plain cornbread

S:  1/4 c plain granola

I have my notice at work today.  It went better once I told them I had someone in mind for my replacement.  Big load off my mind.  The replacement candidate is coming in tomorrow at 10:30 to talk.

It's raining her too, but it has cooled things down a bit. Good work with the weights - any type of strength/toning work is worth mentioning. If R can get you the Shakeology workout it's worth checking it out. The 30-minute one is quick and a nice way to ease back into weights. I hope all goes well with giving notice today! xx
