Weight: 164.4

I did well again yesterday!  So happy about that.

Although I ate out twice yesterday I didn't overdo it and I had some foods I really enjoy - 3 BBQ ribs - small ones - and a wedge salad at Johnny Carino's.  I did have a small dessert 140 calories - a Mini Ice Cream Drumstick at home later.  All in all, though good day -

I can tell I have lost a little weight. I have developed some patience about it - instead of wanting to get back to where I was a year ago in three weeks, I can see it is just going to take time, but, I can do it.  I hope the rain stops today - it's supposed to have some splash and dash rain today and then be much better tomorrow.

B:  Iced vanilla coffee, smoothie

L:  Cottage Cheese, med tomato, 1/2 small cucumber and 3 small plums which were delicious!!!

S:  1 peach - never get tired of them

D:  Well, didn't go the healthy route for dinner at the outdoor concert, but not too too bad.....2 beef tacos, 1 small piece of bakalava - had we known there would be a greek food vendor at the concert we would have opted for salads and bakalava !  Not a bad day all in all, though

Couple of personal things...I am concerned about the girl dog - Elle - think she may have a bladder infection.  She is so sweet and I love her so.  Husband is taking her to the vet today - it's only fair - I did all the pediatrician appts for Rachel back in the day - it's his turn!!  LOL  Also - I think we have lost one of the pretty cherry trees out front by our driveway - in a weeks time all its leaves turned yellow then brown and it looks like it has been burned.  Researching this I think it may be what is called "Scorch" which is actually an "evil" fungus that there is no cure or prevention for.  Makes me sad.  Those type of trees only have a life span of around 20 years and those are about 15, but what is bad about this disease is that you have to be choosey about what you replant there as the fungus is in the soil and you need to make sure it is something that is "resistant" and there is no guarantee the bad stuff won't get the next plant!  Also the tree that is affected is one of a matching pair!

Still haven't heard about the job thing.....

UPDATE:  Elle is fine......she must be having a hard time waking husband up at night when she wants OUT!!  LOL!  She's 8 now, so can't be as patient as she used to be!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

skinnygrlwithin on 07/23/2013:
I think your outlook about taking the time to lose weight is a positive one... it'll come off with time and dedication, which you surely have.

I'm sorry to hear about Elle, pets are like family and it's even harder because they just can't speak and tell you what's wrong. I hope she is ok, and you figure out what is going on with the tree.

Umpqua on 07/23/2013:
Very good approach to being patient about your weightloss. It sounds like things are going very well on that front! I hope Elle is OK and they're able to easily treat the infection if she has one. We lost a giant viburnum to beetles a couple of years ago. We tried limbing it and cutting it way back but they kept returning so we pulled out the whole thing. I hope yours can be saved!

OhioRaven on 07/23/2013:
Mornin' Holly. Good post today.

legcramps on 07/23/2013:
I'm sorry about Elle; I hope the vet finds a simple infection that can be cleared up without any further problems for her. Wierd about the tree!

V on 07/23/2013:
I hope all will be well with Elle <3

Had a good weekend, for the most part.  Saturday I didn't post rest of food - but it was an OK day - I ate a big lunch (which actually was breakfast food) at a cute restaurant (Shakespeare and Co) with two of my friends - made some zucchini bread and had a big piece, but didn't eat dinner, otherwise.  Sunday was good - had regular breakfast not much lunch and medium dinner.....so good food both days for the most part, over all.  I walked on Sat and Sunday 2 miles or more each day.  Rained a lot so no bike.

Today - back to work -

B:  cottage cheese and peach, iced vanilla coffee

L:  BBQ ribs - 3, green beans

D:  YIKES - I have to go out to dinner again!!  Will be sensible!!!  UPDATE - I was sensible - I had a wedge salad and one small piece of bread

S:  Mini ice cream drumstick at home 140 calories - worth it!

Rained all day - just broke - hope it dries up for awhile, anyway!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Updated yesterday with the last of food.  I am happy with the food for yesterday and planning a good eating day today.  I continue to be able to tell that I have made a difference on my body with the eating I have been doing the last 3 weeks.  I am wearing a pair of WHITE shorts that are size 10.  They are tighter than I usually wear my clothes in the waist only- but not uncomfortably so and a size medium knit top.  I would have have worn either of these items in public last month-for one thing the waist wouldn't close!

On the product recommendation side of things - If anyone is looking for a good pair of walking sandals you may want to check out Clark's In Motion Jump sandal.  I liked them SO MUCH that I bought two pairs yesterday - black and pewter.  To make sure I wore them around the house all last night - sometimes, with my silly feet shoes feel comfortable at first but after an hour or so they rub somewhere or pinch somewhere or something is not quite right and comfortable shoes are my passion at this stage in life.  So that said - I think I'll be walking this weekend in these shoes!  I got a really good deal on them with buy one get one 1/2 off, but I discovered just as good a deal on the web at:           6pm.com.            OK Public service announcement over and out!

B:  Iced Vanilla Coffee, oatmeal with almonds and br sugar splenda and cinnamon

L:  I think will be a smoothie - no 1 beef chalipa - no sour cream

D:  Will be out at new-ish Italian restaurant with daugher and SIL, husband and my mother - I'll try to be sensible, but I "may" have tiramisu - my favorite if it's good.

DINNER UPDATE:  Restaurant was very expensive and average food.  I had 2 small, small small pieces of bread, salad that had basically no dressing on it just a little parmesan cheese, lobster  ravioli (5 pieces - enough) and split tiramisu with husband.

S:  2 crackers and pnb - 1/4 C milk

Good enough day!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 07/19/2013:

Good job on the body changes! Have an amazing day.

legcramps on 07/19/2013:
Hey Holly! Have you heard anything from your job interview yet?

hollybelle on 07/19/2013:
Thanks for asking - no, I haven't heard yet, but they let me know I was interviewed early in the process and that the wheels of progress turn slowly there. If I don't hear something next week I will be concerned. I think I have peace whatever happens. There are pros and cons to whatever happens. :-)

Maria7 on 07/19/2013:
Wow, sounds like you are doing real well! Congrats! :-)

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 164.4

Yesterday food was ok.  Stayed within calories, I think (not really counting and seeing how that does).  I REALLY REALLY wanted a candy bar around 5:00 yesterday afternoon as I was walking thru grocery store, old habits and old "thinking"  BUT got pretzels and grapes and ate those in the car on way to church as I ate a very light lunch.  YAY for me.  I can resist the junk.  Just have to make up my mind!

Exercise was 10 minutes of very light weights.  Taking it easy on my right triceps as I strained it slightly on the BMX trail Saturday - It is fine - no pain this a.m. so I'll challenge it a bit more today.

B:  Ice vanilla coffee, oatmeal with br sugar splenda and pecans, cinnamon, two bites of cottage cheese

L:  Going to Applebees for lunch - will TRY to keep it reasonable.  I want to stay on this roll that I have started and done well so far for about 3 weeks.

Lunch was 1 homemade pretzel and a little cheese - wow - my guest ordered them and I am glad I stopped at one!  I wish I didn't know they existed.  Then I had one small oriental chicken salad - nothing else.

D: VERY small Taco salad with lettuce, beef taco meat, fresh tomatos a little shredded cheese and a teaspoon of sour cream.  I may eat a peach and some cottage cheese later.

I can tell that I have lost a pound or two, but you know I don't want to weigh, going by my clothes, the bermuda shorts that I have on today were slightly tight and this a.m. they were slightly loose.  Good sign.  :-)  More later.

UPDATE:  I did eat cottage cheese and 2 peaches to finish the night off......

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

selina on 07/18/2013:
Good job on resisting the candy bar!

hollybelle on 07/18/2013:
I thought so, too! Thanks.

OhioRaven on 07/18/2013:
Hey, Holly. the wind was in my face through the whole ride. It was the hottest day so far this year but I couldn't tell it. I did sweat a lot but I'm really well hydrated after work. You made some Great food choices before church. See ya.

hollybelle on 07/18/2013:
You do a great job drinking your water. I am getting better some days. It really makes a difference. I also freeze water bottles to take on my bike rides.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/18/2013:
HEY LADY! i see you are enjoying the iced coffees too...how much i love them! i wrote the full story for your reading pleasure...

hollybelle on 07/18/2013:
Yes, I love iced coffee. I make a big pot of STRONG coffee and keep it in the frig when it cools and have it on hand. I add ice, truvia, and vanilla BLISS creamer. It's not too bad calorie wise, kind of my treat to start the day. I read your post and commented on your diary.... :-)

V on 07/18/2013:
Awesome work avoiding the junk! hope that the rest of your day was stellar <3

hollybelle on 07/18/2013:
Thank you - it was pretty good. No word on the job at this time, yet. I really wasn't counting on hearing back until next week. We'll see...last night I had a dream that one of my references didn't give me a good word and they crossed me off the list!!!

OhioRaven on 07/17/2013:
Sorry, Holly. I can't get too excited over the heat. I can still remember how freakin' cold it was this last winter. Ha-ha !

hollybelle on 07/17/2013:
I hear ya, but I would rather have cold than heat. Of course 75 degrees year round with rain only on Monday Wed and Thursdays would be fine!

V on 07/17/2013:
Stay cool Holly! RYC geez 4 hours before and you can't go back to sleep? Oh my I don't know how you do it :( Hope you have a good day and perhaps a nap <3

hollybelle on 07/17/2013:
Nah, it's not quite that bad. What I mean is - I wake up after about 4 hours sleep and can't go back to sleep for about 1-2 hours. :-) But even that is hard. I am so used to it I don't really think about it too much. I need to take medication, but I don't like to....I also don't want to do sleep study if I can avoid. Alteril helps, and things like unisom and tylenol PM but.....Have a good one!

Didn't make the bike ride last night.  I did some weights for upper body and food was good.  Busy day today.  May go to concert in the park again, but may go to a town about 25 miles away.  A woman I worked with for about 10 years passed away Saturday of a massive heart attack.  Her visitation is tonight and funeral tomorrow.  I will go to one of the other.

L: Chalupa w/o sour cream (gotta make that the last one this week)

Odd food today, but not too bad.....calorie wise or over all.  I will eat a cottage cheese and something else later....

hollybelle on 07/16/2013:
I was really into it a few years ago, but then got into road cycling and did really well last year. Have been slacking this year, but maybe the BMX riding will get me fired up again. It's fun.

skinnygrlwithin on 07/15/2013:
Woohoo on all your bike riding!!

michgal on 07/15/2013:
i have to start using my weights again. i was doing good using them and somehow put them down and have not picked them back up, ugh! you asked how tall i am, i'm 5'6 1/2".

hollybelle on 07/15/2013:
Yeah, it really helps. I just use two 5 lb weights or 8 lb kettle bell for upper body while I watch some tv.

V on 07/15/2013:
Way to go with your BMX ride!! Yeah girl :)

hollybelle on 07/15/2013:

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 164.4

Was up really early this morning.  I went out to get the paper and a glass of (you guessed it) iced vanilla coffee and a little (old) Boston Terrier trotted right up to me.  He was exhausted and upset.  He did have a ID tag on his collar, though and I called his owners who had let him out in the middle of the night (fenced yard but he had escaped) and had been looking for him for 2 hours.  They came and got him.  In the meantime the three hundred (almost) pounds of dogs that are at our house right now (my two and daughter's big German Shepherd) were all trying to check the little "invader" out.  I had picked him up and they were all pushing and shoving each other to get a sniff.  I can only imagine what in the world HE thought of it all.

B:  Iced vanilla coffee, waffle with maple syrup

L:  Smoothie

D:  Home made hamburger on light wheat bun - Yum, Peach

S:  Chex Cereal and 1/2 banana with dash of FF Half n Half

Missionary dinner when well last night.  We served about 30 people and they spent the night at the church-Taco Buffet and cookies and ice cream for dessert.

Another busy day planned.

UPDATE:   Got out on the BMX trail this afternoon - very hot!  Rode about 4.5 miles  + two miles there and back - great upper body workout - over all, really - use lots of muscles.  I rode kind of slow so I didn't KILL myself the first time off road in 3 years, but that's OK - it's still fun and active and killer workout!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 07/14/2013:
Sounds like a pretty good weekend, Holly.

Aww that's so cool that you were able to find the owner of the dog, I am sure they appreciated it..Hope you had a good weekend Holly :)

hollybelle on 07/15/2013:
It was a good one. I actually rode BMX last night! Did pretty well on an easy trail, but that is OK. I will get back into it. It was FUN! My arms are feeling it a little but, I am surprised not more so!

hollybelle - Saturday Jul 13, 2013
(Healthy Eating and Exercise)

Exciting day.  LOL!  Going to have new lights installed on the front of the house.  After 19 or so years the old ones are not only outdated, but falling apart in places as well.  I hope they will look good.  I have been looking at different styles locally and on line for about 3 years, again LOL!  The place I purchased them wanted $195 for their guy to install but I found a guy thru one of my customers (electrician) who will do it for $75!  If he does a good job and is easy to work with I will even pay him $100!  We'll see.  I can't believe the difference in the price.

Then later on I am taking chips and bean dip to church.  My Wednesday night ladies group is preparing a meal for some traveling missionaries who are  passing through town.  We are doing a Mexican meal.  The chips and bean dip were the only things left on the list by the time it got to me.....

Then I hope to catch up on laundry and get a bike ride.  I hope the humidity will not be high today.  I also need to check on the blackberries in the park and see if they can be pcked.  They ought to be close.....My coworker may want to pick some, too.  They are FREE!

AND, we are BLITZ sitting today and tomorrow.  Rachel and Will are going out of town for a wedding and spending time with his family.  She will wear the maternity dress I got her last week.  :-)

B:  Vanilla Iced Coffee, peach and smoothie

L:  1 an 1/2 BLT sandwiches, tea

D:  one taco, a little dab or bean dip and a few (10 chips), 1 very small oatmeal cookie

Husband and I walked the THREE dogs for a short distance.  My heel is killing me!

UPDATE - the outside lights look good.  I'll try to take a picture and post on FB.  I think there are already some pics of the front of the house that show the old brass ones.  They will work but need some cosmetic repair on the little plastic tubes that hold the candlelabra bulbs so will probably donate to Habitat for Humanity Restore..

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 07/13/2013:
Good deal on the lights! Have a great day, Holly!

hollybelle on 07/13/2013:
Yeah and they look good. So glad to save $95. I paid him $100 instead of $75 he was so quick, efficient an helped me clean up the boxes and move giant flower pots!!

Umpqua on 07/13/2013:
Sounds like you have a busy but fun day planned, enjoy!

hollybelle on 07/13/2013:
Yay!

OhioRaven on 07/13/2013:
Good luck with the berries. Beets taste like dirt. I juice mine together with a cucumber, a carrot, and an apple. Oh, I also put in a shot of pure lemon juice. I gotta tell you though, it really wrecks my singing voice. I try to skip it the days that I sing.

hollybelle on 07/13/2013:
I love beets fresh ones - not canned, bottled or pickled ones. I can eat them cooked or raw, hot or cold. BUT I do understand how you taste "dirt" in them. They taste very "earthy" to me. If the juice ruins your voice, why drink it Is there another vegetable juice recipe that you could drink? Sorry to be so nosey. Just curious, I guess! :-)
