OMG!  It is 60 dergrees in KY in January!  I RODE MY BIKE!!!

I had to ride the old blue one because the rear tire tube stem on the new one was somehow BROKEN, but it was all good.  I rode about 35 minutes and probably 7.5-8 ish miles.  The blue bike does not have an odometer on it. It felt wonderful.  I chose 3 of my favorite HILLS and didn't ride enough that my bum will be sore, I don't think.  Tomorrow it is supposed to be warm again, but it is supposed to rain.  I purchased some wicking tights and long sleeve top today at Marshalls that I think will work OK.  I wore the tights tonight since it had gotten a little cooler and they seemed to do OK.  I really didn't need the top under the fleece I wore.  We shall see how they translate in really cooler weather.  I am going to get my bike worked on and try to ride a little - seriously.  Local cycling club is having training on how to clean chain and gears and tune up yourself, but it is going to be held the week before the wedding, so that won't work.  Maybe I can attend next year.  

I also did pretty well with FOOD today - first time in many many days.  AT least so far - the night is still young.  I am planning liver and onions - I know - most don't, but I LOVEit.

Supposed to go shopping with my Mom tomorrow.  She wants to try to find something to wear to the wedding.  I still need shoes and jewelry. 

Rachel had a fitting for her dress yesterday and I went.  I can't say I like the dress any better.  I am just going to tell people it's "Vintage".  That should cover it.  LOL

Glad you could enjoy the incredible weather. It hit 53 in Chicago today so I'm thrilled with that. (Snow on Sunday but it's supposed to be light.) I hear ya on the liver and onions; it's actually one of my absolute favorite meals. Enjoy!

Yesterday wasn't a great first day back "on it", but it wasn't terrible, either  Today will be better.

B:  Coffee w natural creamer

L:  Chips and salsa, diet coke

D:  Small piece of chicken, 1/4 C mashed potatoes, roll with butter, acorn squash, 4 asparagus

S:  two piees of toast with butter and jam

S:  1/4 C choc chips - Really????

no exercise

Yes, I know the nutrition is screwed up - had to eat with client at lunch - mexican and had to heat at really southern restaurant (translat - fat and unhealthy food) with church group.  But today have better foods planned - delicious steamed vegetables for lunch and lean meat and vegetables for dinner.  Also going to get on ET!  I'll have a better report later.  

Wanted to mention I discovered a wonderful item for cooking vegetables - Pampered Chef rice cooker/steamer -  works perfectly!  Friend brought hers to my house and I bought one on line the next day!

Happy New Year!!!! I missed you!!! I've managed to keep riding at least 12 miles a couple times a week until Christmas Eve. Then the cooking took over and the weather was a little inclement. My hubby gave me a "safety yellow" windbreaker to make the cold a little more tolerable. I'm ready to ride! Hope you had great holidays. We are having the engagement party tomorrow night so it is the first of the many functions preparing for the wedding. You must be getting wedding excited too! Have a great weekend!

I love my rice cooker/steamer. I usually use it for rice, but have occasionally steamed some fish and veggies in it. Yum!!

Hey Holly!! It's good to hear from you! I guess I need a back up plan because I really didn't foresee the weather stopping me. I knew I could dress for cold, but I forgot about the rains. And I really didn't think a cheat here or there would be this destructive. It amazes me why it's so easy to put on and soooo hard to take off! Oh, well, are you excited about the upcoming wedding?

A BELATED Merry Christmas to everyone and a Joyous New Year to all!

Quick updates:

Daughter's Wedding:  Things are moving along - March 9th will be here before you know it.  She and her fiance closed on a house just about 7 miles away this week.  They also adopted a German Shepherd which I am in love with - he's about 2 years old and very sweet!  Now they must fence their yard!

Mother-in-Law:  She has completed 4 of 5 weeks of chemo and radiation and after next week she will have a scan and we should know more.  Please pray for her healing.

Me:  I have been doing fairly badly on food and exercise, but the good news is - I am sick of being this way.  I am going to take better care of myself in 2013 and I don't mean maybe!  I already started this week with better eating and a walk or two.  Work is really stressing me out and that is on top of wedding, mother and mother in law issues, burdened by the illness of two close friends and - I really didn't realize how things had kind of piled up this last year until lately.  So goal is to cope better and take care of myself!

I will look forward to catching up with everyone soon.  In the meantime - God bless and Love!

well, since you posted, welcome back now! In 2012! well, just like yours, my haircut came out OK. the good thing is, it is semi-permanently straightened/relaxed. so, it's easy to manage. :-) Maybe when I blow-dry it for New Years, I will like it. For now, I'm satisfied, but he's done better! That's what I get for trusting a man on a Friday night before a holiday weekend to do my hair! haha

Thank you so much Holly, your words of wisdom helps <3 Feeling really guilty for being so far away :( My Nana is 90, she can retest but I think by her failing the test has knocked the winds out of her sail and she is second guessing herself..It has alot to do with everyone discouraging her to try again, especially my Dad.We joked around about me going in disguise as her and taking the test for her, LOL Dad didn't think that was funny but we sure did ;) Hope that the New Year sill be better for all of us..I am so sorry, I am sure you really miss your Dad <3

Just stopping by to say hello and tell everyone how glad I am to see comments on my last post even when I have not been here in so long.  So nice to be remembered and I will be a regular part of this community again soon.  Things are just so hectic right now.  Mom is having her second cataract surgery Monday and Mother in Law having first chemo and radiation on the same day.  Work is very stressful in the face of Healthcare Reform there is so much going on in the industry.

I am doing OK on eating after vacation.  I am not exercising very much.  Had a very bad virus and cough and hurt my back coughing of all things!  It is getting MUCH better now.  

Daughter's wedding is 3/9/2013 and plans for that are rolling along.  She is FL with fiance's family going to Disney World. 

Hope to catch up with everyone soon.  I think of you all often!

RYC: Yeah, the longer I'm coffee-free the better off I seem to be. Green tea ain't no sub for it, but it's a hot drink early in the morning. That's about all I can say. And it makes a difference to have a good, smooth green tea. I had many fits and starts with this, and I can't say it'll be forever, but the god of great sleep gives it a big ol' "thumbs up!"

Miss you girl!! I told you before that you sound like my twin - my hecticness is just coming to a calm spot again. MIL had 2 hip replacements since July and I know you read about my parents trials and tribulations! Hang in there, it WILL get better!! I can't believe the wedding is this close!!! I thought about you Sunday as I rode in 80 degree weather and realized that we really are lucky to have extended outdoor time! Our wedding is March too, but 2014 so I have a little time to dress shop (and hopefully save some more money!!) Look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hey everyone!  Long time no post - I know - and this will have to quick.  Stopping by to say I miss you all and although I think of you often, I just don't have much extra time to post right now!

We got back from our vacation to California last night and I am vowing to get on better eating track after that.  I didn't do too badly, and we walked A LOT every day, but still off my usual eating habits, times, etc.  We had a good time, although was pre-occupied with thoughts of mother-in-law.

Friday I am taking my mom back to the eye doc in Cincinnati to see how her eye (after cataract surgery) is progressing.

More later.  I hope everyone has a spooky Halloween!

Hi guys - I have not  jumped ship.  My mother in law is very ill and I am taking a break from DDs for a little while.  I am OK, but very very sad. My MIL is the BEST MIL! I can't believe the ugle cancer monster has struck again MIL's case is very advanced and it is tragic.  My husband is working from the hospital and trying to keep everything (including my FiL) together.  His brother lives 3.5 hours away and can't stay as much.  Please remember us all in prayer.  Especially MIL, husband, FIL and BIL.

Hey guys - stopping by to say hi.  Veru sad week.  My mother in law has becoe very ill.  She is in hospital while the docs plan what to do.  I am holding my own on food and exercise, but wanted to ask for prayer for mother in law - the power of prayer is a wonderful thing and  am calling on all prayer resources.  She is a neat lady and I just can't believe how this has just popped up out of no where for her.  She is only 72 years old and daughtr is very very close eto her.

Hi guys - just dropping by for a quick post.  I am back to about 3 walks per week and that's about it.  Complications with my Mom and increased workload at the office have kept me busy..  I am eating "OK" .  I am holding my own, although I know I'm up a few pounds from my low this Summer!

Yay for carrot soup and getting some walks in! I should make some of that soup soon, I'm thinking the boys might actually try it now. Thanks for your support on everything....MIL is hopefully moving to a much lower maintenance condo or townhouse which will be easier for her than the big house she's been taking care of.

Hey guys...catching up here.  Mom had cataract surgery Monday in Cincinnati and we had to go up on Sunday night (she and I) and it was rather traumatic for her.  Her Blood Pressure stayed quite high during the surgery and then is is apparently having a reaction to the eye drops she has to use for the next month. She is a worry wart and I kind of think the reaction  may be related to her high level of anxiety that is persisting even after the surgery.  But I can't be sure.

Anyway,  I am very tired.  Doing OK on food and not much exercise since last week. 

Storms here.  Kind of weird weather for end of September, but who knows what October will be like.  We have our trip to California all planned out.  Leavingi 10/23 andback on 10/31.

OK - bike ride - possibly the Legacy Trail tonight.  Low key - 18 miles. 

Going to fry up some banana peppers tonight or tomorrow night.  This is something we do ONE TIME a year.  Always enjoy it.  I picked up a mix of sweet and hot peppers.
