I updated yesterday's post - pretty good day - 20 min with  new friend on slow bike ride and 40 minutes on the Mountain Bike Trail in the park.  FUN, FUN, FUN.  I remarked to my new friend that I found the slow bike ride around the neighborhood so relaxing after work and she said "I know, I LOVE it!".  She also says that she thinks it is helping her knee as the day after she rides she has no pain, but the days after the days she does not ride she has some pain.  

B:  roll with honey, Iced Van coffee

L:  Took bike tire to be repaired, ate Arby's RB sandwich in the car on the wway back,

S:  1.5 boiled egg

D:  Hot Dog at Sam's with Diet Coke 

Not a good nutrition day - on the run all day and junked it up

No exercise - tired.  Didn't get home until 8:00 p.m.

I took the Alteril last night and lo and behold I slept completely THRU the night!  I took it about 10:00 thinking if I went to bed about 10:30-11:00 it would be fine.  I have no trouble going to sleep - it's staying asleep that is my issue.  I woke up around 6:00 when husband got up - so that's 7 hours of uninterruped sleep!  Wow!   I didn't have any trouble waking up and don't have any sleep "hangover".  I vaguely remember becoming half awake around 5:00 because I thought I needed to make a trip to the bathroom, but I drifted back off to sleep!  I am going to keep taking this stuff.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

thats great news on your friend's knee! that would be motivation for me to keep the biking up!

And yay for good sleep!!!! I sometimes pop an Alteril right after gym to help me relax during the afterburn. Most of the time it works, I just have to make sure I drive straight home (10 minute drive) so I dont fall asleep at the wheel. :)

I bought it a while ago, but never really talked about it on here. Its the only one that seems to do the trick for me. Sometimes I forget to take it on time so I just go without. Im so glad it works for you.

Congrats on getting a full night's sleep..At least once a week I wake up around 2ish and now instead of getting up and roaming about, I lie there and eventually drift back off..I hope you had a good day :)

I updated yesterday - not my best day - but my first really high sugar one in a long time.  It was really not that terrible, though.  Husband had a nice birthday evening.  Daughter made him a cake that was Junior Mint inspired and it was delcious.  Those are his favorite candies.  I was hoping he would take it to work with him today.  Maybe tomorrow.

I spoke with the docotor's office about my latest lab work and it was decided to increase the thyroid supplement as I am still tired, not sleeping well through the night (although some better) and I have not been able to lose much weight at all without cutting calories severely, which as we know does not work out for you in the long run!  I am also going to start taking Alteril - a natural sleep aid that has L-triptfan, melatonin and valerian in it.  Then I will have blood work in 4 weeks, instead of 6 to make sure levels are still high and I will probably get more pellets sooner than scheduled, so that levels do not drop at all.  Sometimes levels drop as the pellets dissolve completely a bit before the next pellets are scheduled to be installed and they want to make sure that doesn't happen so that I keep reaping the benefits all together.  

B:  Roll with honey and Iced Van coffee

L:  BK Grilled chicken salad and honey mustard dressing

S:  4 squares dark choc

D:  Roll with honey - too many carbs again and (guess what?) grilled chicken again

Exercise:  25 minutes easy riding with my new friend.  40 minutes on the Mt bike riding more new trails.  They have really done a nice job on the trails up there!  Half way there I realized I forgot to put on my HELMET!!!  The new part of the trail was really open and steep on one side so I rodoe very carefully and slowly on that part.  It was so much fun!

Oh, Holly, I hope they get your balance right soon. I hate that fatigued feeling from lack of sleep. I've done so much changes in my diet and exercise since January that I don't know what to really attribute it to, but I am finally (after 4 years) sleeping much better. The night sweats are gone and I get up usually only once to pee. But my lifestyle had a total overhaul and I may have just naturally reached the balance in the hormonal game. I'm not questioning any of it, but I just wish I could share my sleeping success to help someone else improve theirs!! That Junior Mint cake sounds great! Have a great day!

Hope you get the medication at the right dose. It's awful not getting enough sleep. And, yes, cutting calories too much has the opposite effect.

I take thyroid tablets not sure it help with the sleep though. It is four thirty a.m. now and I have been awake since two!!! I shall have to go back to bed shortly!!! Love the story about Leon's hat, how wonderful, I bet he never threw that away!! You know that having an occasional fun food day is better for you in the long run because you don't feel deprived:)

Updated yesterday.  I did ok, but not as much exercise.  My new cyclist friend showed up again and we rode about 20 minutes this time.  She did really well.  I could tell she was more confident.  She still wants to keep coming about 3 times a week.  We'll see.  I told her I'd ride with her if she would keep coming over.

B:  Iced Van Coffee

L:  Will be at professinal association meeting - I hope the dessert is something I do not like! UPDATE:  Tiny Spinach Salad, Roll, Pork Chop and tiny strawberry shortcake  

D:  Today is husband's B'day - he doesn't want to go out to eat until maybe the weekend.  He is 54 years old today-just a baby!  I am 3.5 years older ;-) 

Hope to have the energy to ride on the street and/or the dirk tonight!  It's HOT here - 85 degrees yesterday and same predicted all week.  Showers rolling in and out making it humid already! 

UPDATE:  Had a little bit of leftover grilled chicken, 2 pieces of corn on the cob and 1/2 small acorn squash with butter and brown sugar (terrible I know) then had a medium sized piece of birthday cake daughter made husband.  It was Junior Mint (his favorite candy) inspired and it WAS really good.  We only walked for about 40 minutes in the evening.  Everyone was tired.

In addition to you getting a riding buddy, it's nice that you are helping her strengthen her confidence and also reaping the benefits of exercise too! Happy Birthday to your Hubby! Your weather is mimicking mine - almost to humid to walk last night so we are looking for a quick evening ride tonight too. We are trying to beat the incoming rain. I think Wednesday is expected to be nasty so we are pushing hard until then. Have a great day!!

Cradle snatcher!! Nice that you have a toy boy! It would be nice to ride with someone as long as you don't have to wait for her and if she doesn't hold you up:) She will have to learn to do some low flying really quickly:) Do you remember that really high top hat that Leon Russel used to wear with his Joe Cocker stuff? I have been youtubing lots of old stuff, like living my teenage years again:) I have written down those I loved to download!

Well, I updated yesterday's good for dinner - I ate too many pumkin cookies!  I am glad at least that they were healthy ones.  I think I'm still OK as I cut way back on starchy carbs all week, I need the carbs on the weekend for the exerise I did on Sunday - check out all my activity below!  I can't believe I did all that in one day!  AND....I am not even sore today!  I feel like I could stretch a bit - but no real muscle soreness!  My legs and shoulders feel a little stiff is all!

B:  Boiled egg, Iced Van coffee

L:  Restaurant with a carrier to review some renewal rates - I'll have grilled salmon, green beans and carrots, rice - no bread!:  

Tonight for dinner - grilled chicken breast.  They tuyrned out really well.  I marinated them in FF Italian dressing - cheapest I can find - and they were good.  Husband grilled them while I made the healthy greens last night. 

Tonight my newbie bike friend is supposed to come and ride for a few minutes with me.  She reported that her knee did ok on Friday and she wants to go again.  I am excited for her.  Everyone has to start somewhere and I am pround of her for sticking with a 10-15 minute ride on flatter road. 

Leon Russell concert - well, it's not often we get a Rock n Roll Hall of Famer in out town and I am so glad I saw him.  He is in good voice (he's 60 years old now) and he can play the heck out of the piano still.  BUT....I was very dissappointed in the selection of songs.  A bunch of old time rock n roll (as in Chuck Berry) - not my favorite kind of music.  I would have much rather heard his songs like Big Boss Man ("you ain't so big - you just tall, that's all")  and Return to the Island, some of the stuff he played back in the day with JJ Cale, etc.  But it was good to see him and we talked to a couple of nice couples from out of town. 

UPDATE::  Dinner was 1/2 chicken breast and a piece of Genisis bread toast with peach jam.

Exercise - 20 minute bike ride with my newbie cyclist friend.  She did really well.  I HOPE her knee is OK. She want to do this 3 times a week.  We'll see......

Yeah for the ride AND no soreness AND a friend to go with you!!! Sounds like a great weekend. Your foods sound great. Marinating chicken breast add a lot of flavor. Just don't over cook them, because dry will over rule flavor!!! I read about your new mountain bike trail and that sounds like fun. (And I'm glad your joints don't hurt too!!!) Have a wonderful day!

I think some of these old timers pick the tunes that will appeal to the biggest crowd, but it's not always their best stuff. I'm still glad you enjoyed yourself and yahoo on getting all that exercise in!

Thanks for the suggestions on how to fight boredom. I do walk but usually at night with the hubby and after the temp has gone down a little. Already we're in the upper 80s in Central FL and I'm still adjusting to that considering it's only April/May. Love the idea of marinating the chicken breast with the FF Italian dressing. I've also done that on occasion and it just adds a nice flavor to the meat. Have fun biking with your new friend.

Wow, excellent work on the exercise!

I thought about you this weekend. The family and I decided to go on a hike and we had to drive 5 miles deep into the Chattahoochee National Forest and it felt very similar to that drive we did on the retreat. However, this time we ended up finding the trail head. It was a gorgeous hike that went parallel to a long creek that had two beautiful waterfalls. We bookmarked the location in our GPS for future reference!!

I didn't update yesterday because I couldn't remember everything I ate.  Although I did ok I didn't eat healthy at dinner because we wanted to go to a movie and it got late and we had to grab something fast - husband wanted to go to (wait for it) Burger King!  I had 3/4 of a Whopper JUNIOR and Diet Coke - oh well, it's not like we eat there every day.  The BK in our neighborhood has remodeled and now has really good management - like that matters as far as healthy stuff goes....ha!  Anyway we say The Raven - it was gorey - but good.

Today I made healthy version of pumpkin cookies and so far I have eaten 4! 

B:  Egg and iced coffee

L:  4 pumpkin cookies, unsweetened iced tea

S  Oven Roasted Turkey - 2 oz

D:  1/2 grilled chicken breast, big helping of kale with boiled egg and a little vinegar - YUM

At the concert - TWO gin and tonics with lemon (not lime people!)

S:  2 more pumpkin cookies!!

I walked for one hour this morning in the park with husband and dogs.

Rode about 13 miles on old bike with friend from across the creek.

Rode on the Mt Bke Trail for the first time this afternoon!  Can you say:  AWESOME!  It was SO MUCH fun!  I loved it. Rode one hour. Big hill to get there and I did the whole thing easily!  I couldn't have done this - no way - a few months ago.  My joints just wouldn't take it.  I think the hormones are helping my joints - the testosterone that is.  Well, at least my voice is no lower and I do not have chin hairs yet so I like this stuff!

I ate a little more than I would have wanted yesterday.  All good food, though.  Would have been fine except for cereal and 1/2 banana at the end of the day.  

I had a customer/friend over last night that was interested in riding bikes.  She has some challenges: smoker - knee surgery fairly recently - hasn't eercised in a long time.  We decided to see if she could ride for 10-15 minutes very carefully and on the flattest ground we could find (and that's very hard around here). My back tire was flat on my new bike - so I pumped up the tires on Mark's Mt Bike and adjusted the seat on that an rode that while she rode my hybird old bike.  It's fairly easy to adjust to.  She liked it!  She will see how her knee feels this weekend and if all goes well she wants to try again (10-15 minutes) on Monday night.  She lives close so can come to my house easily.  It is exciting to see someone try something new and I hope she is able to do it.  Pray for her knees and that it works out so she can start to make improvements in her health!

After riding Mark's Mt bike on the street last night I decided to take it up to the park this morning and ride the new mt bike trails up there!  I can't wait.  It's cool, but rain is holding off for now....fingers crossed.

Updated yesterday.  Basically I have had a good week, although I haven't been as active as I would have wanted.  I have been very busy with work this week and I have a big work day again today.  I will keep at it and do my best each day.  I am a little tired, but I think it is supposed to warm up today so maybe I can ride bike tonight and tomrrow!  If it rains I can go to Zumba.  I need to have two good weekend days to get where I want to go.  I like my clothes feeling looser!  Yay! 

Sorry I haven't been able to comment as much on everyone's diary - not much time.  I'll try to catch up with everyone this weekend.

B:  Iced Coffee

L:  Salmon, rice, green beans, carrots, water

S:  Stevia Sweetened iced tea!  banana and 1T PNB

No exercise yesterday - except for running around all over creation doing erands for personal and work.  Mark came home after a successful trip to Kansas City.

B:  Iced Coffee - not very hungry this morning.

L:Taco salad - no shell - a few chips (12) and salsa

D: Went to eat with husband before concert.  Roll with butter, salad w olive oil italian

S:  Daughter made the most delicious pumpkin cream "thing".  I had a BIG piece.  I want to find out what was in it.  I think it was probably good stuff and fairly healthy based on the way she likes to cook, etc.  I hope so  :o)

Little hiccup in the food today for the first time in a long time.  That's OK.  I can tell I have lost a pound or two lately.  I have still eaten well although I have not been as active as I would have wanted under ideal circumstances.  I will work on that this weekend.  To continue in the mode I want to be in I need to have two good weekend days!

Back to work and I can tell in the pants I have on that I havae lost some wegityt - just a couple of pounds, but these pants are completely comfortable and buttoned up without that extra little tug.  Also there isn't as much tummy bulge.  Low starcy carbs/low sugar is doing the trick.  It's funny, but since I've been off those kinds of food a few days (around 8) I feel better energy, too.  Kind of like I'm out from under a "carb bog-down".  YAY.

I am doing intuitive eating - I find I am hungry a lot less often that I would think.  This is starting to feel like the "good old days".

It's sunny here today - but very cool.  I walked last night, but got rained on.  I need to take mother's dog to the groomer on lunch hour today and make a hair appt for myself for a day soon.  Funny I think of those two things at the same time!  Going to pick up husband at the airport around 6:00 tonight.  I hope to get some exercise in somtime today, too!

B: Iced coffee  

L:  Baby Carrots, Tea, 1/2 Pnut Butter and honey on WW 

D:  Rotisserie Chicken, 7 asparagus spears, Asian Slaw

Weather is warming up. Mid day

Weather turnig cooler and raining hard - no thunder/lightning

I'm going to the 12:15 spin class tomorrow which ends at 12:45 and there's another one at 1:00. They call the class a 'blast' so I'm guessing it's really intense. I'll play it by ear and see if I could do 2 in a row with a 15 min break.
