(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 164.4

Did ok at dinner yesterday - ate some potato chips, but other than that chicken and vegetables for dinner at the friends house.  It was really nice to catch up with them I have eaten whatever I wanted today and had a cookie after unch and 1/2 a burger and some onion rings tonight with my mom.  The burger and rings made me feel bad, so it was really not a good choice, but the place mom wanted to go didn't have any real great choices.  I'll be back on my best behavior tomorrow.

I didn't get a ride in today - it was too cold and windy.  It's really really strange here.  Hope it warms up this week.  I have a very busy week coming up.  I may not be able to post much until later - like Wed and then Friday.....so if you don't see anything from me, that's why.  Husband took for for Kansas City today - he's coming back Wednesday night.  I a spending the night with friends in Louisville tomorrow night because I have an all day conference there on Tuesday.

Have a great week and I'll check with you all later this week.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 04/23/2012:
We're getting the rain and wind now and it's supposed to go into the 40s this week. Crazy! I just had to share that we got tickets to see Galactic in NYC next month, that will have to suffice in place of Jazz Fest this year. I can't wait! I hope you have a great time with your friends tonight!

Maria7 on 04/23/2012:
Sounds like you have a very busy week ahead, Hollybelle. Hope all goes well. Good that you spent some time with your Mom but hope you feel better from eating the greasy food. It is a little chilly here this morning (high 40's), supposed to get up to around 65 today and warm back into the 80's (the temps we've been having) later this week. Hope you have a wonderful day. Take care. :-)

thenewMLE on 04/23/2012:
We are all in a weird weather pattern. It was so gusty they cancelled the air show this weekend. We rode anyway, but it was a very strong head wind. We rode for an hour and even though it was a little cool, I still got tan on my arms!! Enjoy Louisville and I look forward to hearing from you!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 164.4

Yesterday is updated.  It was another good day on food. I can tell the higher protein and lower starcy carbs is helping.  Exercise was put on hold yesterday except for cleaning up outside around the house and washing and conditioning my bikes for the ride tomorrow with my new customer/friend.

Today is the day of the Redbud Ride that I was going to do, but rain has been predicted for days in the town where it is and sure enough it is raining all over KY today.  Temps predicted to drop as well into low 50s today and tomorrow so I hope we are able to ride tomorrow.  I didn't ride enough the last two weeks to ride in the Redbud Ride, but I will soon do a ride that is as long as the route I was going to ride, anyway.  It would have been my first ,organized ride, but I was disappointed ahead of time anyway because the redbud trees that the ride is named for have already bloomed and faded since we had such an eary spring this year!  Mark has to go out of town and I want to speind time with him and I would have needed to go down yesterday for the ride and spend the night all by myself.  I will look for another organized ride to do later this year.  I liked the looks of this one because of the trees and it seemed laid back.  I just hope my new friend and I get to ride the Legacy Trail tomorrow.  It's closed to traffic and I plan to get at least 16 miles in.

B:  Coffee, 3 pieces of bacon and 2 eggs

L:  3 pieces of choc and a smoothie, turkey

Going to friend's house for dinner tonigh  Hope it's healthy stuff.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

V on 04/21/2012:
Hopefully you get to ride tomorrow :)

Umpqua on 04/21/2012:
That's a long ride planned for tomorrow, I hope you enjoy it!

Umpqua on 04/21/2012:
P Funk is awesome, they are playing out on Long Island in a few weeks (around my birthday) but I'm not sure I want to travel that far. The guys are friendly with some of the NYC members so they often show up to play with them. Last night was a special show, the covered the entire Grateful Dead Europe 72 album. Normally they are all over the place and do *deeper* covers of classic rock like Allman Brothers, Zeppelin and The Band (they dedicated a few tunes to Levon Helms last night). I LOVE funk, the main reason we got to NOLA Jazz Fest is see funk bands, old and new. I could go on and on about the bands I like - Galactic is one of my faves: http://www.galacticfunk.com/

grannyannie on 04/21/2012:
Hope you get to ride! Well done on the food.

I hear the granola bars calling my name as well, but...I'm going to be good. They are for post-gym workout. But hopefully hubby will eat a lot of them for me. I did pretty well with the oatmeal raisin cookies but had an extra one a couple of times. Chocolate chip would be a different story!

V on 04/21/2012:
Can't complain about our winter here either but I am dreading a super hot summer :( LOL

TinaAnn on 04/21/2012:
A ride like that sounds fun! I wish we had that here.

thinkpositive on 04/22/2012:
I hope your ride went well. Also thanks for your comments! You are very helpful and thoughtful.

Umpqua on 04/22/2012:
I'm glad you liked Galactic! One more suggestion is The New Mastersounds, they're awesome. One of the things I like about the covers hubby's band does is it's stuff that doesn't get played on the radio. There were so many great bands in that era, bands that could really play well live and didn't rely on studio gimmicks. And yet you'll hear the same 2 or 3 songs on the radio. So the theory is they're bringing some of that other great older stuff to a new generation of listeners :)

thenewmle on 04/22/2012:
I hope you got your ride today! I know that is disappointing to miss the Redbud ride, but the weather has been strange lately. We were supposed to ride today to see the Blue Angels air show, but the winds were so high, the show was cancelled. We are trying to ride the country club in a few minutes because the weather is beautiful, just windy. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 164.4

Yesterday is updated.  You can read about  my bicycle "tragedy" - hit a deep pothole and popped my front tube.  I hope that is all it is-not a tear in the tire and no bent rim!  I am going take it to the shop today and see what they can do for me.  I need to get an on board tool kit and pump.

I did really well on food and exercise yesterday.  I did 10 miles - I was 2 miles from home on the return when the tube popped-on the bike.

I made grilled turkey burgers for the first time.  I added the following in 1 lb of ground turkey before patting them out and it seemed to help them with more flavor and to not shrink up or be dry. I put about 1/2 large onion finely minced, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of oatmeal, 1 heaping Tablespoon of Burger seasoning and a little Frank's Red Hot sauce in 1 lb ground turkey.  I put olive oil on the grill before I put them on.  I had mine on a bun with ketsup, mustard lettuce and pickles.

And, oh yes, almost forgot - a pair of capri pants that I could not get zipped(!!!) early this Spring went on only a LITTLE TIGHT today.  I wore them anyway with shirt outside to remind me that I need to eat well and exercise.  I am going to use this pair of pants as my guide because I know exactly how they hit now and how I want them to fit!

My friend who wants to lose ### of pounds is coming to walk with me tonight.  I told her to stay for dinner - we'd have something healthy!  She is in my Wed night church group and a sweetie!

B:  2 boiled eggs, iced coffee

L:  Salad with Grilled Chicken and honey mustand dressing

S:  2 Squares of dark chili choc.

D:  Cottage Cheese and orange

Had the bike tire fixed.  No problems besides bustd tube - thank goodness..  Around $13 for the tube and the shop to do it!  Bought an under the seat storage pouch and a patch kit and extra tube and put that in there.  Still will have room for credit card/money, ID, cell phone. and a couple of allen wrenches.  YAY!

Picked up dry cleaning and dog food on the way home.

I washed both bikes and and pumped all the tires on both so all I will need to do Sunday is load them and go.  The weather is supposed to turn much cooler - so I hope it works out.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

legcramps on 04/20/2012:
Lovely! Sorry to hear your bike is hurt; hopefully they can fix it up soon for you so that you can get back out there!

Sounds like your walk tonight will be fun, and how nice to have a friend over for a healthy meal! Enjoy your weekend!

grannyannie on 04/20/2012:
Well done on the capris fitting better! Love that feeling! Bummer about the bike. You're doing a great job!

V on 04/20/2012:
Oh no! Sorry about your bike :( Congrats on your Capris I am sure that made your day <3 Have a good evening.

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 164.4

Updated yesterday's post just now.  Very low calorie day with plenty of protein.  Hour and 15 minute walk in the wooded park.  Not enough liquid - need to hydrate more.

B:  Iced coffee - getting ready to eat a boiled egg - late on food this a.m. as took my thyroid supplement late - and needs to be on empty stomach.

L:  Same as the usual lately......1-2 oz turkey, 1/2 avocado, raw carrots - no hummus yet today.

S:  2 squares dark chili choc

S:  Banana

D:  Grilled turkey burger on a bun - it was good.  Cottage Cheese

I planned a 12 mile ride tonight and was actually 10 miles into it and 2 miles from home when I hit a DEEP pothole and popped my front tube.  I hope the rim isn't bent.  I will have to take it to be fixed tomorrow because the shop will be too busy Saturday and Sunday I have planned a ride with a customer who hasn't ridden before - on the Legacy Trail.  She is very excited and so am I.  I don't think they will get to match the tire as it is lime green and beautiful - LOL!  I hope it doesn't cost too much.  At least I got the 10 miles in.  I had to have husband get in the SUV and come and get me.  I didn't want to push the bike home 2 miles if I didn't have to!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Yay for breakfast at dinner time! RE outdoor lighting, I've replaced fixtures at both the houses. At the rental we got a pendant light from Home Depot that doesn't do justice to the beautiful front porch there. But it was better than the bare bulb hanging there when we bought the place ;P I replaced both front porch lights as well as the lamp post here and it made a major difference. I got the fixtures online - can't remember where they're from but it was some monster lighting discount site.

Updated yesterday.  Waffles for dinner - husband wanted breakfast for dinner and no exercise for the first time in a long time.  I will make up for it.

B:  Hard Boiled Egg and SF Iced Vanilla Coffee

Lunch will be probably much like the last two days still trying to increase protein and decrease starchy carbs.  I have done pretty will with this plan the last two days.  Hunger is reduced already.

L:  Hummus, raw carrots, turkey, 1/2 avocado

S:  2 Dark Chili Choc Squares !  Hmmmmm 95 calories :o)

S:  Roasted peanuts in the shell - turned out to make me kind of ill :o(

D:  1 C frozen yogurt - felt good on the tummy after those peanuts

Nothing else to eat -  Walked for an hour and 15 minutes with husband and dogs

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

uhh I just can't bear the idea of wearing shoes WITHOUT socks either, blagh!!! :) Some people do that, but come on, I don't know about them but I always manage to get some small rocks in my shoes wherever I walk, therefore I thank myself constantly for wearing socks! I manage to sneak rocks in into the highest rubber wellies, period! :) I washed some sneakers once or twice, it resulted well... These ones are different though, because they never have the TIME to go to the machine, they're constantly in my sports bag, LOL! I discovered an other pair I could have got some use of, but unfortunately they have a bigger hole on the front, so it's better not wearing them outside anymore...

Updated yesterday for last night.  I got 40 minutes of walking in the woods with dogs and husband - climbed two big hills.  It was nice out!  Did better on starchy foods yesterday - but I did have bread last night - but I had it with lean meat and cooked carrots.  Trying to think again about my food combinations - I think that is what is keeping me from losing.

B:  Had a big meeting with an insurance carrier - they provided breakfast.  So much stuff, but I stuck with fresh strawberries, pineapple and scrambled eggs and 2 slices of bacon, coffee

L:  Will do more of the hummus , carrots and lean turkey - no starches

S:  Probably Chili choc - 2 squares

D:  Waffle, Syrup and 1 slice of bacon - husband wanted breakfast!

No exercise - fell asleep!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Hello there Holly :) I hope you had a wonderful day :)

thenewmle on 04/17/2012:
Good choices for the breakfast "free for all"! The breads and starches can sometimes be a hindrance, but changing what you eat might just be the shake up your body needs to knock you off that plateau! I'm laughing about our shoe ordeals - I misread you post the other day and thought you were shopping for athletic SHORTS!!! I'm picky about those too, but SHOES HAVE TO BE COMFORTABLE and functional! My walking and biking shoes have been New Balance 620's. They were a gift from my hubby's company 5 years ago and we were properly fit for them. But back then, I didn't exercise and the shoes were still in the box. They support my arch nicely and they don't rub on my back of the ankle or pressure my bunion. So many little idiosyncrasies!!! The shoes I bought on the fly today were actually very comfortable. What a shock that I didn't get to shop and compare but out of desperation pick out the only pair of black heels in my size! By the way, what is chili chocolate?

thinkpositive on 04/18/2012:
Just getting to answer questions from Mon. As to threading- it hurt, can't lie, but not for long & it's quick. And it takes awhile for hair to grow back & not costly.I think for those who do it on a regular basis it doesn't hurt as much, but I it was a year or more for me. Andyour question about my work life- I was a guidance counselor in a high school for many years & then director of the dept for the last 5.

Thank you for all the encouraging words, everyone.  I have responded to some, and will get to others later.....time is short.

B:  Egg McMuffin w/o cheese - this is not bad...around 200 calories and SF Vanilla Iced Coffee

L:  Trying something different - a bunch of stuff in a soup bowl (small size) trying for more protein - less starcy carbs - wound up with hummus, carrots, an avacado, one boiled egg and some Low Sodium turkey breast.

S:  will probably have my dark chili choc!  Yes - only 2 squares

D:  Left overs - going to try no bread!!  Yes, but did have bread (as dessert though!) Roast beef with worchestershire sauce, carrots - felt very full

S:  iced tea. - is that really a snack?

Walked but only for 40 minutes - with husband.

Very busy day from trying to catch up after working 1/2 day yesterday and shopping all the rest of the day - you know for all that shopping all I bought was two bras.  Ha!  I tried on about 10 pairs of athletic shoes, but didn't like any of them.  I will keep looking.  I maybe able to find some online.  I like a certain feel and I didn't feel it yesterday.

B:  baguette with a little butter and cinn sugar, iced coffee

S:  Hummus w raw carrots

L:  1/2 PBJ, handful of almonds

D:  Pot Roast, carrots, onions, potatos

S:  Donut!!!

Good luck finding those perfect shorts!! I hate when you find something that you like, and then you can't find it anymore! We couldn't ride today because the wind was stronger than breezy! So we did a fast walk for 2 miles with our company. Maybe I will get in the pool for a little while. not very motivated today. I really want to eat something bad...

Updated yesterday food OK

Walked 2.5 miles with a friend.

Had to work this morning one town over then went shopping with friend and to the grocery.  I also ordered new glasses - these have magnetic sunglass lenses that go with them so that will be great to ride bike!  I have a lovely pair of Oakleys that I used to wear with my contact lenses - but I can't wear those anymore.

Very tired and very behind on laundry - like nothing is clean!  Have to catch that up.

No exercise except 3 hours of walking while shopping.

B:  Banana iced coffee SF vanilla

OK - didn't eat anything late yesterday so what is posted for yesterday is what it was.

I did walk about an hour and 15 minutes with husband and dogs even though my poor poor feet were KILLING me from wearing the high heels at the track yesterday!  NEVER again!  I don't care if my ego suffers - it's better than my feet!

I am committing to losing excess weight more than ever at this time.  For some reason I am more motivated.  I am so sick of carrying it around with me - so more bike rides, more walks and more weights!  Less sugar and less "snacks" and "little food sins".

B:  Banana, Iced coffee - water - all my a.m. supplements

L:  Kale, Corn, Asparagus and 1/2 serving of slaw, 1 corn bread stick no butter

I resisted frozen yogurt and pie!

D:  small dinner salad w light Italian dressing, hummus with sheet music bread and 1/2 diet beer.

Walked 2.5 miles with friend.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!
