Yesterday is updated.  I couldn't eat much bc the spaghetti with 1 meatball I ate at lunch made me very very ill.  It had lots of yellow and orange peppers in it and was delicious, but peppers are something that can sometimes upset me.  I guess they really did yesterday.  So couldn't eat much.

Husband is headed for N KY/Cincinnati area.  My FIL is in the hospital with a bad infection.  He (like my dad was) is almost 80 years old - in April - and has had UT issues because of prostate cancer many years ago.  Docs are not sure what is wrong yet, but believe he may have a bad infection around a device he had installed to correct the UT problem.  I am worried, but hope they can correct the problem and not have to remove the device.  Hes on IV antibiotics.  Turns out he's had symptoms for awhile.....he didn't tell anyone or go to doc!

B:  cereal and 1/2 banana, lemon water 325

L:  small piece of enchillada (1/2) 300? lemon water

S:  3 small graham crackers with choc cream cheese 190

Subtotal 815 

D:  Turnips w butter, cinnamon toast 400

1215 calories

I am going to start every day with a glass of lemon water.  I need to hydrate more  and that is one way I think I can.

Somewhat surprisingly, I am not sore at all from the 2 hours Zumba/Turbokick marathon I did yesterday.  My muscles feel a little fatigued, but not bad. Kind of like after a long bike ride.  YAY!  I may walk indoors at the Mall today, or do the ET and weights - probably the latter.  May go to dinner with Mom.  It was only 12 degrees here this morning before the sun came out!  High is predicted at 28 today.  Bbbbuuurrrr!

Also, very sad at the passing of Whitney Houston.  Especially the timing and so young!

I've know so many people having trouble with peppers - although the yellow and orange peppers are so sweet, some people that I know, including my daughter, are allergic to them. Sounds like your tummy is sensitive to peppers as well - Sorry to hear that, glad you are better. I hope your father-in-law gets well soon, 80 is still young for today's standards. Both my father and father-in-law passed away when they were 92 and both had had prostate cancer in their 70s. Men in general are very bad at going to the doctor when they have health problems... I hope all goes well with him in the hospital and I wish him a speedy recovery. Good job on the zumba/turbokick marathon! I'm also very sad with the news of Whitney Houston - I didn't realize that she was younger than I until yesterday when I saw her birth year on tv! I loved the movie she made with kevin costner - it's so romantic and her voice awed me. Although it's sad, I wasn't really too surprised - she had had too much trouble with drugs taking her over her life and career, over the last decades. It's humbling to see that riches and fame are actually the cause of much unhappiness for many.

I was completely bummed out about the cake! I was expecting an awesome dessert, and this cake (it was an enormous piece btw, meant to serve 2 but could easily serve 4) was not even as good as a Duncan Haines. But - since neither of us liked it much we each took a few bites and called it a night, so all was not lost ;)

Calories were ok yesterday - see update below about that and my car.  After work I cruised the sales at Dillards at the Mall. Now, I HATE to shop, but I was looking for something new to wear to my professional association Symposium that I always say I will buy something new for, but never do.  This is a big deal because I will be in front of 300+ of my industry peer speaking as a Board Member for a little bit and seeing a lot of them one on one during the day.  I didn't have a lot of luck.  I felt very bloated and not inspired to shop, anyway, but although I didn't find anything close to a whole new outfit, I found a couple of nice blouses that may serve to go with something I already have and make it feel new....that's OK.  I did find four pair of earrings at a fraction of the original price.  $20 earrings for $7! And a nice necklace that had been outrageously price at $62 for $8.  I am now stocked up on jewelry for awhile!

Zumba this morning at 10 so gotta run. 

B:  Coffee, 1 biscuit with jam 175

L:  1 cup pasta with pepper sauce 1 meatball, chobani yougurt  350

D:  Toast and jam, lemon water 125

Total calories: 650

Have chicken breasts in the crock pot to make cottage cheese chicken enchiladas with later.    

Big news - Because I haven't been feeling well and didn't get much exercise this week not only did I do the hour Zumba class - I did an hour Turbokick class as well!  So two hours of working out for me.  If I can do that tomorrow as well I will have made up the time I missed and then some.  I have to say I didn't do perfect, I get confused on a few of the moves, but I was moving, moving, moving the whole time and doing my best.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Yesterday is updated.  1635 calories and no exercise.  I am STILL SO TIRED!  I don't understand.  I went to bed last night at 9:30 and actually slept through the night only woke to turn over a time or two.  Got up at about 6:30 - that is 9 hours of sleep, people!

B:  3 Rice Krispie treats and 1 scrambled egg, tea 210

Should hear about the car today.  I hope it's not as bad or at least no worse than I think.  After it gets fixed, I am going to take it to the Car Wash and get it a good washing and cleaning inside, too.  Hopefully the Car Wash will be open - it's very cold here again today.  It is so dirty - it's depressing.  I need to have a tear in  the leather seat on the driver's side fixed and replace the driver's side running board - it's rusted through.  Otherwise the old Pathfinder looks pretty good.  I know I will have to have a new one someday - but hopefully not for another year or two at least. 

CAR UPDATE:  It was the Battery - NOT the starter!  Cheaper, but still expensive - $180 for diagnosis and check up on all connections, cables and over all inspection of the engine.  $60 less than the $240 for the starter.....but still expensive.  But, I am getting an AC Delco battery with a 7 year limited warranty - total replacement for 4 years, though!  The diagnostics were $45 and the battery and installation + tax  was $135.  The battery that was in there was from Walmart and cost about $80 in Aug of 2009.  For your future reference - in case you need it.

L:  Leftover Indian food - Tandoori Chicken and rice with the orange sauce I can't remember the name of, pineapple yogurt and another rice krispie treat 560

S:  More Rice Krispies -4 maybe 200

D:  a few pita chips and a little pimento cheese 250

1250 Calories  No exerise. 

I took a tylenol sinus capsulel a co-worker had - only one because sometimes sinus meds make me hyper- and it did ok so I took another one and I feel better!  YAY!  

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

I hope your car fix isn't too major. My car is so dirty the boys have taken to drawing stick figures on the side. We have a small stick figure city going on at the moment, I should probably get it washed soon ;P Have a good one!

Good deal on the car :) I have a delco battery :) They run forever and a day <3 Yeah I am a self proclaimed "shade tree mechanic" (not really but it sounds good, haha) I have learned alot though from my brothers as far as starters,engines, struts, etc..Although I have an awesome mechanic whom I truly now, there are so many of them out there that prey on unsuspecting women so I am happy you have someone you can trust too :) have a good evening! Oh and BTW I LOVE gangster/mafia movies...Scarface, Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale, Casino, even the James Cagney movies ;)

Still didn't feel well last night - very very tired.  When I went to my car after work it wouldn't start.  First thought it was the battery - but after fooling with it a few minutes and remembering the battery is pretty new  - it's apparent it is the starter.  I got it to start and took it home - got it to start again this morning and came to work.  Now will look for a place to fix it and try to get it started again to get there. 

B:  2 biscuits and 1 scrambled egg, tea 260

L:  Fazoli's Chicken pasta that has < 400 calories (can't remember the name of it LOL) Had to ride with a co-worker to get lunch - didn't have anything a the house much. 375

S:  Chobani Pineapple Yogurt 160

D:  Indiana food!  Went to restaurant called Tandoor.  Very good.  1 leg and 1 thigh (very very small) tandoori  chicken, 1/2 C batsami rice and some sauce I can't remember name of - very good.  I don't think this is high calorie stuff and I couldn't really eat a lot.  Saved 1/2 for lunch Friday  350?

S:  Made more rice krispies - ate about 10 @50 calories each (different portions than the last ones - these were thinner and recipe had portions and calories  so 500!!

1635 - still not bad....No exercise though - very very tired.  I don't get it!

Called the car repair - if it is the starter the first place said $400!!  I just knew that was too high - next place said $240 - much better - but still bad enough.  They will fix it tomorrow.  I have had them do work before.  I just hope it is the starter or something less expensive and not the other way around.  Research I've done on line appears to indicate that starters can be anywhere from $95 - $375.  I don't want one on either end of that range.  The one they are putting on is $150 and on my car - that's probably OK.  It's over 10 years old!  I love it, though, and it has my wonderful bike rack hitch on it.  I never want to trade it in!  But I know I will have to eventually - it has about 116k miles on it.  :o)

There is nothing worse (well there are but you know what I mean!) than just hearing that click when you are about to start the car!!! Hope you get your baby fixed soon. Mine is over ten years old now and doing double serve as a family car for my daughter! Don't think it will last much longer, the 'dif' is going!!! Don't know what a 'dif' is but it is sounding a bit rough!!! Hope you have a good day Holly:)

Oh, no on the car! We depend on them for work, yet we work to pay for them! My last car that I owned as it approached 10 years old started to nickle and dime me to death. So I asked my boss (also baby brother) if instead of a long over due raise would he get me a company car. I told him that he could write it off as an expense and I wouldn't have to claim more income if I had a raise. It was a win - win situation. So he now leases me a car with a note of $295 a month and when the 3 years was up, I got to pick another one! Hope you feel better and the bill doesn't sicken you!

Updated yesterday....see my notes on my new bicycling togs!  Ended with around 1500.  Not bad.  Good .  Did an hour of Zumba and it was OK.  None of the Zumba instructors really "call" the moves or explain them they just demonstrate and expect everyone to jump in more or less.  That is maddening to me.  But I hang pretty well.  I have to modify a couple of moves because of my knees, and on two of the routines the instructor was very very vague, but all in all it was fun.

B:  coffee, 2 biscuits and jam, 1 scrambled egg 350  290

L:  Pimento cheese and Naked pita chips 300

S:  chobani black cherry greek yogurt for later - 140

D:  Spaghetti and 3 turkey meatballs, no vegetablels! 300

S:  granola bar and choc cream cheese  200 

1230 Calories - No exercise - didn't feel well and starter on car broke....got it started and parked in garage - will see about getting it fixed tomorrow.  

 

Also - I tried the yoga ball ab exercise that Sweetpea or V (I can't remember) posted on the DD FB page and I did better than I thought!  I did 15 reps the ab work I have been doing on my own and my biking have helped strengthened my neglected abs!  Yay!

Re your update yesterday - Awesome!! I'm looking into getting a ball as well and doing that same workout. I hurt myself at the one Zumba class I went to, so unless I can find a beginner one that explains moves I won't be going. Too bad because it seems so fun when you know the moves.

RE the Korean cooking, I can't imagine how wonderful that smelled! I do want to try Kimchi at some point, but I need to prepare. I've ready that people have separate refrigerators for it because it's SO stinky, so I'd have to come up with a solution so as not to stink up my fridge ;)

Sorry the Zumba instructors aren't giving you any instructions! I have heard that finding a good Zumba teacher can sometimes be hard to find! I know of a good one who lives in Seattle, but that doesnt really help you any. :)

Thanks Holly! We all know that I don't owe her the fab wedding, but she has been a wonderful child. 4.0 through high school and college and was a state champion swimmer from age 5 to 18. She went to college on partial scholarship and was the president of her sorority. She is fortunate that her boyfriend is an only child whose father was an only child and when the grandparents passed away, they left the house to the father who in turn gave it to her and the boyfriend. They have been remodeling the house this year so that it will be ready when they get married - no house note!! He is also in law school and has managed to pay his tuition with his after school and summer employment therefore he has no school loans. She got a job and also has been a wiz at saving, so they are fortunate to be in a great starting position. I know we will come to a compromise that won't set me back too far and give her the almost dream wedding! The yoga ball sounds interesting. Glad you are doing so well! Have a nice evening.

Updated yesterday - ate well for the most part yesterday, but not enough - felt very tired.  Husband has full blown cold and came home from work early.  Will stay home today.  I went to bed around 7:30 and mostly slept through the night.  I hope I don't get his cold.  Got up around 6:15 this morning and made biscuits and eggs and coffee....will probably eat same lunch and snack as yesterday.  Probably same leftovers for dinner......nice to have it all planned out.  No more rice krispies!  They are all gone.  I know my cal count for those is accurate because I did the math.  I just love those things!

B:  coffee, 1 scrambled egg and 2 biscuits w jam and tiny bit butter 385

L:  1/2 turkey sandwich, leftover asian salad 260 

S:  chobani black cherry greek yogurt!  yummy!  140

D:  1 C chili, beets, 250

S:  4 Newmans Own Ginger Sandwich cookies 260  2/3 C skim milk 66 = 326

1450 or so calories and 1 hour ZUMBA  

NEWS UPDATE!!!---I received the biking bibs and biking shirt I ordered last week!  They fit as well as any of that stuff does on a less than perfect body.  I meant to say earlier than I am beginning to "feel" a loss.  It's been two weeks of serious, but not crazy reduced eating/keeping a handle on my intake, that is.  My clothes are beginning to fit better and I am more comfortable in my skin, even. The biking outfit isn't "too bad" right now,  When I lose 5 more pounds I will be pretty comfortable in it and 8-10 more pounds and I'll be very comfortable in it.  I will always like to pack baggier shorts to walk around in when I get off the bike.  I think the biking "uniform" is just ugly on most everyone except those who are very, very fit.  At any rate the new outfit is incentive to keep eating well and exercising.  Zumba at 7:15 tonight I hope.  My throat is a bit sore, but I can probably do it!

Hello all - not feeling all that great today.  Headache.  Husband has a bad cold and going home from work.  We were both puny all weekend, well after The  ummies concert on Friday night - and it wasn't a hangover, either!  If that is what you are thinking!!

Anyway - I didn't exercise except housework and walking while shopping Sat and Sun - but I did a lot of both of those things - so I was active.  I overate on sunday - mostly Rice Krispie Treats - homemade.  I only make them now and then bc I cannot resist them - I really love them and they are so light and crunchy I can eat a bunch of them.  Todays food:

B:  Coffee, 2 rice krispie treats 275

L:  1/2 apple, 1 C turkey chili and 1/2 turkey sandwich320

S:  1/2 apple, chobani black cherry yogurt

D:  roast chicken thigh and asian slaw

S:  the last rice krispie treat 100 

S:  cereal 1/2 banana and pecans 250

I did better eating veegetables this weekend - I had fresh brussel sprouts and fresh beets last night - I didin't update my post because of afore-mentionted feeling bad.....more later.  It's cold here today and predicted cold all week -  so probably no bike ride this week.  But I will get actiive as soon as I am able to shake this weird feeling.

 945 not enough - but that's all I wanted - can't believe that's all I ate, but it was.....not feeling well - very tired - going to bed early.  Husband very ill with bad cold.

I had a Puegot racer, but I am too old to ride in such a severe racing position on skinny tires for any length of time. I bought a Trek mountain bike and so far so good. I rode with my friend last week and my hubby this week and they both complained of their butts hurting. Fortunately mine doesn't hurt! We have had the strangest "winter". I have only worn a jacket once and it has been in the 70's for the last several weeks. So I felt I had to take advantage of the weather because when it hits the 90's with 100% humidity, I won't be able to breathe! So I hope I am maintaining by summer. (Wishful thinking, but I have to have a goal!!) Have a nice day!

We actually have NO terrain to speak of! I am riding the paved trail on top of the levee next to the Mississippi river and it is a 25 mile trail. Most of the parks are for walkers and joggers but they are now creating bike lanes on the roads. Those scare me a little bit. I don't think I would do too well "off roading" with any type of rough terrain! I just got back from a 1/2 ride with hubby through the neighborhood. We are in a gated subdivision with a rectangular layout with cul de sacs so we went round and round and round like mice on a wheel, but that's OK too. It was threatening to rain and we didn't want to get to far away and have the heaven's open up! I'll be 51 in March and just realized I needed to jump start my cardio system - I don't want to get old and be heavy or slow moving or get clogged arteries. That's so easy to do living in New Orleans. It's nice to be able to communicate with others that share the same activity! Enjoy the rest of your day - I made it home in time to watch the football game!

And you should feel it! You're doing great! Glad you feel the loss! :) As for the hot yoga, yea, it takes some getting used to. But I really think that what is key is: 1) start drinking water when you wake up and make sure you get around a gallon (I am not exaggerating) in throughout the day, but stop around 1 ad 1/2 hours before the class. That way you won't have a full belly in class and won't need to pee during class (you're not supposed to leave the room). 2) make sure you don't eat anything 3 to 4 hours before class. But also make sure you do eat something 3 to 4 hours before class, so you have energy. 3) in class when it gets hard to breath or if you feel a little lightheaded or overwhelming, don't push yourself. Sit down and rest and if sitting wont do, lay down and rest. But keep your eyes opened. Do that as much as you need. And that's it! if you ever try it lemme know. I am feeling wonderful! Just got home from my 11th class in a row. :) xoxo

The Mummies were great.  The place was packed and hot!  It's a "House of Blues" kind of place - where there is standing only - no seats.  Husband got so hot he had to go outside for awhile.  I stayed the whole time.  They are real entertaining.  If you ever get a chance to see them - go!  The warm up act was a short burlesque show. I didn't care of it.  Only one of the three performers was attractive and none of them had much choreography or panache.  It was interesting to see it.  They stripped to thong panties and larger "pasties".  I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I had heard burlesque was coming "back", but personally, I hope it doesn't come back to any of the shows I go see in the future.  If we had known this the the opening act we would probably have gone later.  Of course The Mummies lyrics are pretty risque.  But I consider that all in fun because the music is so good.

 I am glad I got my bike ride in last night because it is colder and RAINING this morning.  Supposed to rain all day and tomorrow, too.

B:  Organic Buckwheat Waffle (about 3/4 of one as I didn't put enough batter in the iron) with maple syrup and coffee with natural vanilla creamer 

I have to cook something this weekend.....I haven't really cooked in so long.  Maybe some vegetable soup and Chicken Dorothy.  We'll see.

L:  small schlotsky's original - no cheese, diet coke

D:  Big bowl of turkey chili and big piece of cornbreadw butter

Made turkey chili and spaghetti sauce with turkey meatballs - will have this to eat on for the weekend and early part of the week.  Bought a rotisserie chicken at Sam's. One meal on the chicken a a couple of meals with leftovers in a recipe, I guess.  No Chicken Dorothy this weekend. 

Exercise was 3 hours of walking with friend at Sams and several stores,  I didn't buy much - a pair of reebok shapeupsfor $25 couldn't pass them up.  A spring scarf - long and pastel - and some light support bras and a few pairs of underwear - very exciting!   LOL!

 

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Sounds like a fun night Holly! I'm not familiar with the Mummies, I'll have to look them up. I've heard that burlesque is a real art form - when done correctly. Sounds like you might have gotten the bargain rate version with your opening act ;P I made whole grain waffles this morning, per the boys' request - yummy!

Eeeew! I hear really good class burlesque is suppose to be very good. Don't need to show much but slip things off with a certain style and slowly! Glad you had a good time, what a wimp the husband was!! having to go out for a cool breath:) LOL Stay warm holly and enjoy your cooking, sounds like the perfect weekend for pottering in the kitchen:)

I got a short bike ride in after the rain and the cool was welcomed. But it really messed up my plans for a long day ride. My hubby worked on his bike today so I guess he will be ready to join me tomorrow. By the way, you peaked my interest - what is Chicken Dorothy? Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

sometimes when i haven't cooked a thing in a long time, i get that way too. luckily, the food i cooked last weekend, some of it, is STILL sitting inthe fridge. it's squash,spaghetti squash, and lasts awhile. still good...not near spoiled as i haven't opened the containers that it's in. should probably even last until wednesday!

i hear you on what you said about working and hours. yeah, sometimes it's good to put in a little extra time, but not all the time! not when it totally destroys your quality of life, as i'm beginning to see! but in general, i'm thankful for weekends that revive me!

Updated yesterday.  1210 calories and 30 minute walk and 30 rep ABs.

Better to day on energy level.  Going to get out of here fast at 4:00 and ride the bike it's so warm here!  Probably around 70!

B:  Coffee with cream and splenda, 1pieces sourdough toast and peach jam 100

(the sourdough toast I have been eating is VERY thinly sliced)

L:  Turkey on Ciabatta baguette about 5 inches and a little mayo + Cherry Chobani yogurt 350 total

Tonight I'm not sure - maybe spaghetti and meatballs or we will go out to eat.  We are going to yet another concert - this one is live at a warehouse type place called Buster's - we are seeing Here Come the Mummies!  So I will be doing a good deal of dancing - even if it all by myself!  YAY!

I'll have a full report tomorrow!

12.5 miles on the bike in about an hour and I had to wait FOREVER at a bunch of big intersections to get to where I was going - the traffic free paved track.....so probably averaged around 14-15 mph if I take out those waits.....not to shabby for the first real ride in a long long time! 

D:  Pita chips and cheese, hot dog (yup!) with mustand and sauerkraut, two vodka with orange juice and cranberry-terrible nutrition, but oh well - didn't have time to make anything or go out - because of the bike ride.....
