OK I am officially ill.....I found a tear/flaw/hole on the arm of my NEW sofa!  I called the store.  The sales rep that sold it to me said she'd call me back after she talked to the warehouse manager.  Guys I have been the only one on the sofa for the most part.  I have sat, mostly, on the other end of the sofa.  The dogs have not been on it at all.  I found the flaw when I was "fluffing" the cushions and ran my hand on the armrest.  It's in a weird spot - I hope they make good on it and replace or recover that section for me.  I am just sick about it.  Stressed.  It's not even fully paid for yet! 

SOFA UPDATE - Whew!  The store said they would replace the sofa with a new one on Monday after work.  I am happy once more!  Haven't over eaten today.  Catching up on some house work and going to go for a walk on this LAST beautiful, windy day in a little bit.  It is supposed to turn gray and low 40's tomorrow and the the rest of the week. 

I am very pround of the walking I have done the last three days.  I wil have to keep it up on the ET when the weather turns.  I have also done just a little bit like 15 minutes of yoga a couple of days.  Some of the poses that stretch my neck, back and hips and legs.  That really seems to help.  I bought a little yoga guide book, so I'm going by that.  Daughter has begun teaching PiYo classes (Pilates/Yoga mix) but I haven't had the opportunity to take one yet.

UPDATE:  Walked only 2.5 miles today.  Had to catch up on laundry and  some other housework.

uhhh, that was a stress, it's good to have it solved quickly, on a Saturday!!!! That's a good store, I like them already, LOL! I made an update on the cramps! I actually ate two bananas yesterday night, and I take all sorts of dietary supplements to fight them. Looks like today was my lucky, cramp-free day at the pool. I suspect that being tired, muscle-tired I mean, doesn't help either.

I saw biscotti's link about Larsson's death. I didn't know they had ruled out murder. Well, heart attack is heart attack, no rocket science, one of the best (and worst) ways to die. It's quick and doesn't involve too much pain. Pity he had left the series unfinished.

Whew indeed!!! I am so glad it doesn't get down to 40 here, although in a few weeks I will probably kill for a day in the fourties when I am sweating and can't get cool!! I do cook the lamb shank the same as a roast 180c/360f for about an hour but I usually marinade it first to help with the tenderness. Ask if you would like more info:)

So happy for you that you got it straightened out with the store. And good they are willing to bring you another sofa out Monday...that is just a couple of days... :-) We've been having sunny weather with temp around 70 (high) here...nice...but I know it won't be long that we will be having cooler temps, too. :-D

Glad they are replacing your sofa! Well done on your exercise. :-) I'll be fine with the calories, just need a little time to adjust. Too old to become anorexic! Going to SE Michigan to see my family, including my 2 granddaughters - ages 6 and 15 months. Can't wait for the big hugs!

I don't know what happened.  I posted a post a few hours ago and it's not here.  

So here goes again.  We slept in until 9 this morning.  Got up and had a light breakfast and took the dogs on two walks.  Went with our neighbor know as Big John (yup his son is Little John) and his dog and our dogs.  First walk was to the same park as yesterday which is a 5 min drive from our house and then we got back in the truck and drove to our neighborhood park and walked another hour.  About 5 miles altogether.  It was a good workout and the dogs loved it.

Came home and ate (you guessed it) leftovers!  Probably won't eat dinner.  Just 1/2 a turkey sandwich on 12 grain bread or something equally light. Thinking of going to a movie.  Not sure we really want to see anything that is on, though.  We might want to wait and see some of the ones coming out in December.  Has anyone read The Steig Larsson books - Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, etc....they made a movie of that and I read the books and would like to see how they could possibly do that one or any of the others.  They were very dark and the main character is quite unusual.

Sounds like a great day! I haven't read any of those books but I've heard a lot of good feedback so I guess I should try them. I know David Fincher directs that movie and I loved Fight Club and Seven from him, so I bet it's going to be a good one.

WELL, the Steig Larsson issue.. everyone's crazy about the books. Those are in the TOP10 in the bookstores constantly - and I won't ever understand why! You know they murdered the dude, don't you? They murdered him because of the books. So now there are some books he wrote, but the story is never-ending, literally because he was murdered before he could finish it. I hate stories without proper endings. To be 100% honest, there are people who now continue writing the story, but that's not the same! How can ppl adore and buy his unfinished works??? LOL I won't ever understand...

Talking about books, I just received - in PORTUGUESE, huh... - Stephanie Meyer's first book (Twilight) borrowed. I wonder! I'm not a big fan of vampires/werewolves, and the latest vampire-mania doesn't really strike me and make me to read, but I'm pretty bad curious about her writing style. The films are for teenagers, and I don't even like the looks of them (I guess I'm becoming plain old...). It remembers me of Grease, way too old characters but they pretend attending high school. And then there's the vampire who GLOWS in the light. Instead of dying, burning into ashes. Well, that's the original version anyway, LOL... Sooooo!, I'd opt for the new Pussycat's story from Shrek's creators!!!! :D

Well, Thanksgiving is over for another year.  It was pretty good.  I actually got in a 3 mile walk with the dogs and husband in the morning.  It made me a little behind, but it was worth it.  Plan is to keep exercsing.  I will need it, too, because we have LOTS of left overs!  I am hoping if I can keep it reasonable the next 2-3 days husband and daughter BF will demolish most of them!  I am not worried about the turkey left overs - but the dressing, mashed potatoes, gravey, sweet potato casserole, cranberry relish androlls are my downfall.  On the other hand - I made two pies - sweets are usually my weakness, but I don't really like either one of them so they won't be a temptation!

More later, folks!  Hope yours was a good day, too!

We have lots of leftovers too, mainly delicious stuffing! I'm planning to freeze a good chunk of ours, this has worked well in the past. Congrats on getting a walk in!

Yes, I agree with your comment yesterday: 'I think there is nothing wrong with choosing a date to celebrate Jesus' birth and if it's 12/25 each year that's OK.' It is a blessed holiday that has become commercialized and filled with greed of material possessions to a lot of folks as well as greed of the stores, etc. It's too much about greed and fantasy instead of the gift of salvation, I totally agree with you, Hollybelle...we're on the same page. Helping others is always important...and in James in the Bible, I think it is, we are admonished that true religion and undefiled is to visit the widows and fatherless in their affliction and to keep ourselves unspotted by the world. I am SO HAPPY to read about your Daughter going to church and her belief in Jesus and that is what is important...That is a true blessing within itself! :-D Hope you have a very happy, blessed day.

Up late this morning - slept in a bit.  9:00 a.m.!

Went for TWO different walks after some coffee and a biscuit.

First walk in same park as yesterday - went about 3 miles with dogs, husband and our neighbor known as Big John and his dog, Buddy.  That park is about a 5 minute drive down the connector road.  Then we drove back to our neighborhood park and walked another hour - probably 2+ more miles so about 5 mile walk today.  I wore my long johns and although they restrict my movement a bit they kept my knees warm and they didn't seem to ache as much.

Then came home and....you guessed it.......leftovers.  John helped so there is less than before.  I won't really eat dinner - maybe 1/2 turkey sandwich on 12 grain bread or something equally light.  Going to take a little nappy-poo, so see ya later.

I got in  extra movement yesterday = in addition to the ET and weights yesterday morning.  I speed shopped FAST walking for 2 hours and husband and I took the dogs for their holiday baths.  I washed the long haired one and that is quite a workout.  Takes an hour of very physical effort.  She looks lovely, though - so does the lab - he is so shiny!  They got their nails clipped and treats when they left the shop.  WE take them to a do-it-yourself place that has the facilities - raised grooming platforms, raised tubs - you use their shampoos and conditioners, towel and dryers, combs, etc.  It's great $15 per dog and the nail clipping is free, although I feel like it's worth $5.00 per dog because I hate to do it so I top well!

It's fun to see the other dogs there and the folks who work there are so friendly.  We didn't have to wait at all last night.  

Cleaning floors and kitchen and setting table today and then I'll start cooking some of the things that can be made ahead - green beans, cranberry relish and then l'll get up and start the desserts early tomorrow and continue cooking all the side dishes and get the turkey browned after I pick it up from the store already cooked!

It made me smile to think of bathing dogs because I could just picture dogs when they are soaking wet. It makes so much sense to do it yourself as groomers charge so much. Now they are all glammed up for thanksgiving!

Well done! You go girl! Thanks for comments on pics. Yes,I took them. The tall ship was part of a huge yacht race in the UK. Don't know the name of that one. The sails that were up on that pic were only for show as there was no wind that day and the spectators wanted to see the parade of ships with some sails.

Ok, so begins Thanksgiving week - I got a decent amount of housework done - actually THANKS to husband!!!!  Can you believe it???  He helped so much with laundry and a couple of other things.

I love my new furniture - I feel so legitimate in the family room again.  I don't know another word for it - I am NOT materialistic - for example I would NEVER decorate again because I like what I have and I don't like to spend money (some say I Squeak when I walk)  BUT the furniture in that room was SO OLD and "ratty" - husband had insisted we let the dogs lay on it!!!  I was kind of embarassed for anyone to see it.  So far whole family is behind me not letting dogs get on the new stuff - they appreciate  it too.

I am afraid my mom and dad won't feel well enough to come to dinner Thursday.  Makes me sad.  They are really struggling, but at the same time won't let anyone help them.  It is important that they do what they can for themselves for as long as they can.  But it's getting so hard.  I am going to look for someone to clean their house for them.  They are very scared to let someone they don't know in - so a cleaning service will not work.  Unless they rent a space to put all valuables in and have them off site.  I don't blame them, really.  There is a lot of crime going on out there.

On the exercise front - I worked all day Sat and Sun on house stuff - not much fun, but it WAS a good workout to an extent.  I endulged in a few goodies - I make cheese straws and cheese wafers and daughter and BF made bourbon balls (again)!  I only had two candies and about 6 little cheese wafers.  I made the straws/wafers for my mom who loves them.

Hope to get some exercise in today - ET??  Or walk.  and light weights.  Working all day today and 1/2 day tomorrow - off the rest of the week - YAY! ALSO -  I  got a thing - I think it's called a stability disc for my seat at the office.  It wobbles back and forth and you have to maintain posture and stomach muscle tone to stay seated - purchased from chiropractor and I like it so far - two days using it.  Anyone else have one of these?

I'm intrigued by the stability disc for your chair. I'm glad you like it so far.

My Jenny Craig consultant has been there for 15 years, and I know they train their counselors. I don't know if she has ever had to lose weight. I'm not finding the one-on-one counselor part of the program particularly helpful at the moment, but I'm just sticking with it for now.

yay for new furniture. We replaced our sofas about 18 months ago because of the same thing and I feel much better about having people over now, so I totally get what you're saying!

I havent heard of the stability disc, but it sounds similar to using a balance ball as a chair. Glad you are enjoying it. Bourbon balls sound great!!

Sorry to hear your parents may not make it over for Thanksgiving. I know it's hard for my grandma to get around as well, especially by dinnertime when she's already feeling exhausted from the day. Sometimes we'll bring food to her place for family meals just so that she can participate and be around us.

Link above shows daughter being featured as local TV station Facebook Fan of the day - chosen at random, but good exposure for her fitness business.  They really got a kick out of it.  What they don't know is the second guy (Lee) knows Rachel from ballroom dancing days...she has gotten some emails asking about class times - so sound promising. 

ALSO - the short commerical prior to the piece is the Good Foods Cafe I'm always posting about....love it!  The Food Coop.

I'm BACK-I don't think I've ever posted two links in one day - but if anyone wants to see my efforts at redecorating my family room click the link below.  Can't really appreciate it unless you saw it BEFORE.  Take my word for it - it was BAD! The only things that are new are the couch, loveseat and the window treatments (my last valances were destroyed in the "tree disaster" - if anyone remembers that from 2.5 years ago).  I had the little chair and all the stuff by it already in the living room - which was really too crowded.  You also can't see t but I got rid of a weird bakers rack that was behind the loveseat - my friend got that.

Anyway-as for eating and exercise - I was working and shopping walking, etc. all day long and had toast for breakfast, coffee, vegetable soup and salad for lunch and I'm getting ready to have more soup and cornbread for dinner.  Long day - but alot accomplished!

RE Thanksgiving, I'm having my in-laws over here. There will be 10 of us (including 4 kids) and they are very simple eaters so I need to stick to basics. I'm doing turkey, 2 kinds of stuffing/dressing, plain mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, simple homemade cranberry sauce and a green bean/onion dish from Cooking Light. 6 more will join us for dessert and they will bring quite a few things. I'm going to make a pumpkin pie and a maple-pecan pie (also from Cooking Light). I always find out last minute if I'm having it or not, that's just how my in-laws are. I've learned not to get stressed about it ;P

Life insuranc exam over - went OK.  Now we wait for rates fo come back in 3-4 weeks.

New furniture tomorrow - for family room - it's been 16 years!  I should take a pic of the old and then the new....and post it  - if I have time - I'll do that.  The hardest part is going to be keeping the dogs off of it.  I have my family's committment on it, though - - plus we have picked two places (one for each dog) that they lay when they are not in the chair or on the loveseat that we are going to encouraging them to lay by giving them "little mini treats".  They have to learn - we shouldn't have let them get on furniture in the first place.  Husband was the one!  They are so spoiled.  They are just too big to be on furniture - it's diff with smaller dogs.

Anyway - made delicious vegetable gr beef soup and had that for dinner last night and lunch today. 

Going to get some exercise in this weekend.  Getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner next week.  I'm working Monday and 1/2 day Tuesday!  YAY - I need a break!

Doing OK - holding weight to a certain level.  Not doing a whole lot on the exercise front - since Tuesday morning - ET tonight.  Applying for a new life insurance policy and going to have medical exam tomorrow morning.  Hope that goes well.  Should know my next week.  Hope we save some $$$.

Made big pot of vegetable soup this morning - going to share with neighbors and have some for dinner tonight.

humm i don't have a life insurance at all ... i never thought of it as important. But then I just turned 30... at this age, and earlier ones, one tends to think about him/herself as immortal.

lolol, weeeell, the companies give us private health insurances... the "light" version (this is why I have this whole fuss about my back surgery's additional cost) normally. And I went to talk to them, and asked them about life insurance and they said it was INCLUDED in the private health insurance. Strange, and I know I wasn't any comfortable with the answer back then, as I don't have any paper stating this fact clearly... Sure thing is, the private insurance costs vary by age (as, I believe, life insurances do).

no, it wasn't the employer who gave me the info, it was actually an employee of the insurance company itself. I went there to clarify things personally. She was a trainee though, so I'm not comfy enough with her answers. I should dig up the contract itself, I received it by email once... :)
