God birthday yesterday.  Daughter made a wonderful 3 layer chocolate cake - best cake I've ever had!  Husband took me to dinner and we had a nice time.  To bed early - gee I'm exciting!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes.

I didn't over eat - too many sweets, but not totally overboard.  Success.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

After the hike on Saturday, yesterday was a day of "catch up" at the house .  Laundry (which was not too bad), cleaning the darn floor (which wasa big job), dusting of some of the blinds and cleaning the windows inside and out on the back half of the downstairs, grocery shopping, etc.  Some of this is in preparation of Thanksgiving which I guess we will have at my house,again.  It's good to get everything cleaned up.  I will do the front half of the windows downstairs soon and then go upstairs to do the same and try to talk husband into doing the basement ones - there are only two big ones down there.  I don't think I mentioned - husband HIRED someone to do some of the maintenance around the outside of the house - including the deck.  Husband finished the washing of the top boards yesterday and I swear it looks like it is almost brand new - between the new boards and the washed ones!   The guy is coming back today to stain as much as he can.  He started last week and it looks really good.  I know, I know, I shouldn't get so excited about maintenance work, but I like getting it done and husband is so NOT into it usually, I am thrilled he's taking charge of it all.

Didn't eat badly yesterday although Saturday was not so good.  I hope to get some walking or ET in tonight.  Happy Monday, everyone!

Big hike in the Red River Gorge today - natural arches and waterfalls, took the dogs. About 5 miles or more. It was great - movie tonight about the oldest cave art discovered in France.

Thanks for the compliment Holly :-) It was actually a mild and calm day for October and very relaxing on the beach but we were all wrapped up because Sarah had warned us that there was snow on the hills where she was (about 20 miles further round the coast) so we dressed for winter. It was a lovely day out :-D

Yesterday was quite busy - didn't get to post or comment, hardly.

Food was OK - probably a little higher than would have liked - homemade apple pie to thank for that.- small piece.

Not feeling that well - bladder issue, I think.....ugh!  But this too shall pass.

Planning on going to Natural Bridge State Park on Saturday morning to hike with the dogs - it's about an hour and a half away and very pretty this time of year.  Haven't been in years - if weather holds out - it's beautiful today - it will be great.

Yesterday was:

B:   Cereal and 1/2 banana, coffee

L:  1/2 turkey sandwich on Ancient Grain, t mayo, Apple, 1/4 C squash soup

S:  CC cookie

D:  Little bit of mashed pot and roast and 5 baby carrots, toast and jam

I am only going to post foods and not calories.

I just cannot get away from posting at least the foods - I may give MFP (My Fitness Pal) another try, but I don't know......

Need to exercise.  I got out all the old Halloween decorations we used when Rachel was little and I am keeping a medium sized box of my favorites (mostly the smaller stuff) and donating the rest to The Nest Daycare.  I haven't gotten out Halloween decorations in YEARS - maybe 5-6 years.  It was a little bit fun.

Whatever works for you is what you should do! I've become a slave to counting calories but it works for me as I need very definite limits to stay within.

I've just been keeping a list of my foods on my desktop throughout the day and I'm going to see how that goes. I'm darn sick of counting calories and feel like I should be able to do this at this point! Have a good one :)

Working today, but can't wait to get home.  I just feel like a home-body today.  Had a hilarious thing happen last night.  It wasn't so funny at the time, but, you all know I have two big dogs.  We buy Purina One dog food in 40 lb bags (well, they are only 34 lbs bags now 'cause like so many products they have been "downsized", but you paya the same, etc..)  Because we had been out of town last weekend I hadn't gone to the grocery store for the week.  I bought the big bag of dog food and put it in the back seat of my SUV because the back was full of a bunch of stuff.  Got home, lifted the bag out to carry it in the house and boom - the bottom fell out and all that little bitty kibble began pouring out the bottom of the bag all over the seat, floorboard and garage floor.  It was like I had won the Dog Food Slot Machine jackpot!  Finally got it cleaned up.  But that grocery trip took about 20 minutes more than it needed to!  

I have good foods all day today.

Want to get a ride in or some kind of workout.

Today I had a really good day.  Not so much on food, because it was a high calorie day, and that's ok I seem to be maintaining my current weight fairly easily (surprisingly, too).  But we went to Louisville about an hour and a half away to visit our friends who used to live here.  With the kids all getting older and independent we made the effort to get back together over the last year or so.  We were going to go hiking a a nature reserve, but they suggested RIDING BIKES along the Ohio River in downtown Louisivlle. It was GREAT.  There is a closed bike trail all along the river.  It was lovely.  We didn't ride hard or actualy very far (abut 8 miles) like I usually ride,but it was nice.

We worked hard on our house cleaning and I was able to leave the house in near perfect shape (another surprise), so I am very content tonight.

Didn't do bad on food yesterday, but no exercise all week - Mark and I are getting some work done around the house and running errands for that, plus trying to keep up with all the housework.......excuse, maybe, but I only have so much energy it seems. 

Will try to get a ride in today.  Going to Louisville KY to see friends tomorrow.  Only going to be 67 today but 77 tomorrow....  I like it cooler, actually!

Had buckwheat blueberry pancakes for breakfast - 2 of 'em.  with organic maple syrup.  Yum. 

Made lasagne last night - nothing helathy about it - but portion control will be the key - also no bread with it, etc.  Keeping it reasonable to an extent.  

Got another butternut squash to make soup or something else to balance out that lasagne.  Resisted the urge to make cookies, pie or cake yesterday. 

I bought a good-looking shoulder roast to cook in crockpot or oven with carrots and onions and potatoes, maybe the squash with that??  Who knows.  haven't had a roast in ages and usually make vegetable soup with the leftovers.  I wish I had a live in cook and SHE could decide what we would eat (all healthy, of course) AND she would do the dishes!  So much for a trip to fantasy land! 

UPDATE:  I recommend Swanson BOOST packets to add flavor to your recipes - I tried one in my Butternut Squash Soup this morning and MAN -it's better!  Comes chicken and beef flavors around $3.99 here for like 8 packets.  I noticed that Knorr brand also has little concealed cups of concentrated chicken flavoring - may try those soon and will be back to report!  LOL!

Working around the house is still a good workout! Funny that you see 67 as cooler and I'm thankful when it gets that warm! Food sounds yummy!

Out of curiosity I looked up the label on the boost pkts and whoa!--the sodium of it all. I always just cut up my own celery, onions and carrots and garlic (depending on the recipe). In fact you don't have to even cut them up, just cook them whole or larger pieces at the front of the recipe and simmer with everything for flavor. You can then fish out the pieces later or blend with the rest if you use a hand or other blender.

I've been a non-salter since about 7th grade when my mom was diagnosed with hypertension.

Well, didn't go out to dinner yesterday - friend cancelled again.  It's her belated birthday so we'll try to reschedule.

I have eaten too much for the last two days - gotta reign it in.  And I will.  I went to the races (horse) today.  It was nice - it rained, but we were indoors and the buffet is always the same and it's always good - corned beef, steamed vegetables that  are just perfect and dessert.  Some people had two, but I only had one - bread pudding that is just wonderful.  Getting ready to have the last of the squash soup for dinner .

Went to mom and dads and took them corned beef sandwiches and burgoo (think chili meets vegetable soup - sort of).  They like that.
