This is my new bike! Love it.....except for the pedals. Gotta change those for some that do not have clips - I will kill myself! I intend to get used to them sometime - but not now.....Also I am moving my luggage rack to it and mine has two bottle cages to stay hydrated, of course and a front and rear light for dusk trips home as well as a speedometer/odometer. Love, love, love it!

Love the Bike!!! WooohooTT :) Oh and I forgot to respond to your question about Ms. Johnson's views on nutrition... She is all about the occasional indulgence(treats) she is all for working out extra hard so she can eat more food( healthy of course) She is a firm believer in eating every 2-3 hours t maintain proper blood sugar levels and preaches the importance of learnig about the proper fuels that gives the most energy.. Not sure if you have ever heard my favorite "Chaleneism" but she says "The best exercise to rally develop defined abs is walking.Walking away from the kitchen that is." LOL I think Tony H. and her has a similar hardcore mentality, I love it!!!

Got my bike yesterday!!!  Raleigh Revenio 3.0.  LOVE IT!  Rode for a while this morning.  I need to change out the pedals on it, other than that - I have to transfer the luggage rack from my old bike over to the new one and put my odometer/speedometer on it.  The O/S never was  suitable for my old bike, so I'll be glad to have it on this one.  I will try to take a picture of it and post it soon.  It's matt black and lime green.  :o)  It was SO worth the wait to get it.  I will add to my milage as time goes on.  It shouldn't be difficult at all to go farrrrrrrrrrr.  This bike is SWEET.

My food has been terrible today - I am basically done eating for the day, except if I go to the movies later - I plan to eat poporn and have a diet coke and just totally enjoy it all.  Other than if I eat popcorn and diet coke, the food has been healthy, though.

Enjoy your new bike Holly. I've often thought of getting one but we are in the town, and traffic is horrendous so I would be too frihtened to go out on it anyway. I used to have one years ago but, to be honest, I don't have a good sense of balance and wobbled a lot!! If only there was a decent off road route I would love to be able to cycle the 6 miles to work!!

OK....gonna try to post all menus today  -  time has just rolled on past this week.  I have done beter than OK this week - didn't exercise last night, though.  Needed to rest the old knees a little bit.  Tower of Power concert tonight so no class, probably tonight - hope to get by and get the bike today after work but still haven't found my Discover card.  I think it's in the house SOMEWHERE, so not too worried, but this isn't like me to lose a credit card!!

B:  coffee, Trail Mix 200

L:  Small portion grilled salmon, carrots and green beans 350

A vendor rep brought in my favorite donuts this morning!  I haven't had any.  :o)

Actually, I'm very excited about restarting exercise, even if I'll have to be careful with my choices. I'm going to enroll for the next year (between 1 Oct 2011 - 31 Jul 2012) tomorrow, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! :-) My plans are: hydrocycle, aquafitness, swimming and gym. So, nothing really "different", but I have to skip tennis, badminton and table tennis, which makes me sad but I won't die over it. Most probably, a few months from now, it'll be hard to watch the tennis court out of the gym window, but well... sometimes tough decisions have to be made, and it should be OK if they're for a good purpose... sounds reassuring in theory anyway.

OK I still haven't been able to get to bike shop to purchase the bike.  I hope it's still there.  Can't go tomorrow night, either - Tower of Power concert...maybe Friday night;.  I have to find my DISCOVER CARD...I paid for something on line with it Sunday night and can't find it.....it's lost in the house, I think, so should be OK.  I havae to hava it to pay for the bike!  Gotta get those points.  :o)

I have been so busy I haven't had time to post food, but doing pretty darn good with food and exercise.  I have either walked for done TurboKick every night night this week.  More later......

Tried to post the following on DD FB page, but don't think it "took".  I wrote this regarding Sweetpea's comment about the "Maggie Goes on a Diet" book:

Well, you all have a good idea what I think about it.  Seriously - Good Morning America had an "exclusive" interview with the author this morning.  I think Geo Stephanapolis was the interviewer.  No matter what kind of spin the author (who I think truly had good intentions - although is a truly CLUELESS-middle aged, overweight man) he so
totally missed the boat with this book.  He should have stuck to something he KNOWS!  He was trying to say that he meant it to EMPOWER girls - that if they are getting teased at school they can take charge of their bodies and change things, which is true, but it said nothing about the mean kids who were doing the teasing or that Maggie is valuable JUST the way she is!  It definitely made it seem like losing weight and being THIN was going to solve ALL Maggie's problems - Viola - she's thin and athletic (did I forget to mention she joined the school sccoror team?) after taking control of her body and lo and behold she is also now POPULAR and has lots of friends!  The book really did say these things - JUST that plainly!  They read the whole book on GMA!  GAG! and GAG, again!

As for my home improvement projects, I'm just lucky we're having this great cool weather. I have maybe 3 months now before the snows and bitter cold start, so I need to pack in as much as possible! I envy your year-round moderate weather down there ;) Have a good one!

Well, this week is going to be good.  I am re-committing to my good food plans.  I did OK last week, but didn't keep track over the weekend and although I ate GOOD foods, I ate too much at times.  Better planning is called for and not giving in just because I have been doing well and think (in error) that I "deserve" a "treat".  I deserve good things, for sure, but that doesn't mean food treats!!!

B:  Coffee, banana 200

S:  1/8 C Home-made Trail Mix (healthy!!!) 75

L:  Caught out unexpectedly - 2 Fresco Tacos and Diet coke 300

I think something is happening with me - the Tacos were "OK", but the diet coke (which I typically enjoy to the max) was just yucky - nothing wrong with it - but it tasted artificial (duh - because it IS!!!)

S:  Skinny Cow ice cream 140

D:  Butternut Squash Raviloi with marinara and cheese - small portion 300

I headed  to the bike store after a dr. appointment today but traffic was so bad I couldn't get there in time.  Oh well, may try on lunch hour tomorrow.  I am going to ride the same one I rode Sat and one size up just like it and then they have one level better same model bike in the larger size.  If I like the larger size I'll ride that one and decide which model to purchase.  I have looked into it and asked some bike experts I know who ride mondo miles and it seems to be a good deal for my level and purposes.  Such a big investment I want to be happy with what I get, for sure!  I am very excited!

I hear ya on the better planning! I was really mad at myself over the school thing because I'm usually on top of these kind of things and just can't believe I overlooked the announcement. At the same time, the communication was not very good and so that's something I'm going to mention to the director (in the nicest way possible). I can't even imagine how crazy it's going to get when the boys are in elementary school with all the meetings and trips, etc. Have a good one!

I sometimes fall off the wagon at weekends which I don't think I would do if I was keeping a strict check of everything that passed my lips, as it was passing my lips !! There can be a fine line between treats and cheats !! The riots here seem to have blown over, possibly because of the swift sharp retribution to those identified by cctv and peoples phone footage. I hope it doesnt happen again !!

my dad had prostate cancer and had surgery to get the whole thing removed. He had some post-operative technical difficulties, so he scheduled corrective surgery. Well, he feels like the issues are resolving themselves so he delayed/cancelled the surgery.

I hope you're able to make it to the bike store tomorrow. I cant wait to hear more about it! :)

Oh I fell in love yesterday!  What???? With a bike.  I knew my old bike was bad, but I didn't know how bad.  I should be able to go so much farther on the new one!  I will probably buy it this week.  I want to go to one more bike store and ride a few.  The one I liked yesterday is a 2011 Raleigh Revenio 3.0.  It's on sale and I want it.  I do want to make sure it's the best out there right now.  It has an all alloy frame-fork and all, front and rear 105 shimano components, and terrific price for what you get.  It feels pretty good riding it. I want to get a new one and start riding so much, but I really want to make sure I am going to like it for a long long long time because it is quite an investment.  Even on sale!

Right around 1200 cals yesterday. No exercise, but I had very upset stomach.

Spent time with Dad last night and got a real scare!  He fell while we were out in the garage, turned out he was OK and tripped over his own feet - I think the chemo has caused some neuropathy in his right foot and that contributed to his fall.  He punctured his hand in the fall, but otherwise is OK.  I was not looking in his direction when he fell and turned around and there he was on the concrete!  He was kind of stunned and I thought-Oh my goodness - all the chemo and stuff he's been through and had a heart attack right here in the garage!  

More later.

1065 cals and 2.5 hr horseback riding and other farm activities

I cant eat fried banana peppers or stuff like that. stomach is killing me now!

Was going to take a 1/2 vacation day today, but morning appt cancelled so I called in whole vacation day.  I went horseback riding with daughter and family friend.  We had a BALL!  I hadn't been riding in so long and I didn't think I'd be all that comfortable, but I was!  It's really good exercise.  How is riding good exercise if you are, well, RIDING???  First of all you have to go out to the fields to get the horses and lead them back to the barn. brush them down and put the heavy saddles and bridles on them.  Then you jump up on them and while you are riding, at different speeds you have to use your muscles to stay on the horse.  Fun.  I had a run in with an evil Rooster-see details on my FB page!

Sorry about your dad, holly - it's a relief that he's OK now! It's being very hard for you all. Life's tough... The catfish was tempered and grilled. It was OK but I like other fish better. And the next Dr's appt is somewhere in September? I have to do X-Rays on the 14th September... Dr. Nelson is on vacations now, I guess he's absent for a month.

Scary stuff holly, you must feel like you want to follow him around and look after him. I am glad he didn't break anything, that is always a danger, so it sounds as if he got off fairly lucky. It is always difficult to find the balance between independence and care when parents are getting old and fragile. I am sure you and he will work things out. Love and hugs to you (and dad!):)

Yesterday is updated 1285 cals - not healthy ones, either - circumstancesbeyond my control - aiming for 90 % of the time whole, fresh, natural - may take a while to work up to that.

Went to the grocery and made the Lasagne again - by request, BTW!  

Cleaned up the kitchen big time and went to bed!

Didn't do Turbo because wanted to spend time with Dad - he is scheduled for chemo again today......poor guy.  He looks "OK" right now - steroids making him puffy and hyper.  He is on a mission to stay busy.  Gets very short of breath at times. 

I MUST exercise soon!  Last night was the first night in awhile I haven't at least walked.  Tonight I will - husband is going on a "cousin's" trip to Cincinnati and I'll be by myself.  Good time to clean house and get ready for the weekend.

B:  New recipe smoothie  300 - has protein powder

S:  apple 65

L:  Lasagne 385

S:  Eclair  200

D:  Ham sandwich 250

1200 more or less / no exercise - spent time with mom and dad

That sounds like a good goal- 90% whole , fresh & natural. It must be hard to try to balance everything including a good visit with your father. Enjoy your weekend to catch up.
