Made up for the low cal day on Sunday on Monday - 1780 calories and 1.5 hours pressure washing and moving patio furniture at friend's house.

May do Turbo Kick tonight if sciatica hold off.  It's better.  No problems yesterday but took 4 Ibupropin yesterday a.m.  No drugs so far today.   :o)

Work is VERY busy and I like that.

Don't anyone freak out when you see my calorie count for yesterday. I was not feeling well - stomach issues most of the day.  When this happens I must rest the tummy.  I was not hungry at all.  I may have been dehydrated - I walked for an hour in the heat in the morning. 

We got a big storm here last night.  It is still very very humid. 

More later.......Oh, check the post on my entry from yesterday.  Pretty interesting stuff.......

Weather has cleared for now - muggy!!! though.

B:  1/2 Banana, Iced Coffee 125

L:  Sample bread with butter - yum 150, 1.2 turkey and swiss sandwich - no mayo 255 = 405

Busy weekend.  Did OK Friday and yesterday calories were OK, but nutrition was not so hot. I made my famous blueberry coffee cake - make it like 1-2 times a year and I had a BIG piece.  It is SO not good for you. But delicious. My sciatica has been acting up very badly and I'm afraid to do much exercse, although I did go for a walk with husband and dogs this morning before it got too hot (relatvely speaking, of course)  It is so hot a muggy!  Flowers are dying.  I am actually going to have to pull some out and replace them - never happens.  Some creatures got on some of the marigolds and ate them.  The blue ageratum never makes it though the summer months.  I need to work in the yard in the worst way, but it is so hot - maybe tonight.  Husband is going with a friend to Rocky Horror - the play outdoors.  I elected to stay at home. Maybe I'll have peace and quiet.  Doing some laundry - not many loads this weekend as I actually did some during the week this week :o)

Today so far:

B:  Iced Coffee and green beans - YUP green beans for BREAKFAST!  They were good.

Probably turkey and soup for lunch and I hope husband brings home a good cantelope.  Yes - he actually went to the  grocery = amazing - hardly ever happens.  I'll take what I can get!

Hey Holly I dont think cake once in a while is going to affect your progress, you are so consistent with your calories and exercise :-) Sorry to hear about the sciatica. My hubby has been suffereing with it, on and off, recently but (touch wood) I have managed to avoid it for a while now :-) Your weather sounds the total opposite to ours. It has been an unusually wet and cool summer here, and at times I have found myself emptying water out of pots when it has been raining hard.. Everything is green and lush with very little opportunity between showery days, to get the grass cut !!

Thank you for the supportive comments by the way. We are very close in age as I am 57 in September !!

Under 1000 calories yesterday - just not very hungry.  No exercise due to the problem I described......it's better - sciatica acting up...may all be related???

Walking with my friend tonight in the mall where it's cool.  Will try not to SHOP - but my virtual blinders on.

Ouch, I have a pinch siatic nerve which I pander to all the time so that it doesn't flare up. Unless you have it you have no idea how painful it is, like an electric wire shooting down your leg and wrapping round your ankle. Good idea walking in the mall, don't take your purse!!!!!

Well, I fooled around and nibbled a bunch of random (healthy) stuff yesterday and I didn't really finish my count - I believe  I stayed under 1800 for sure - probably around 1600 from what I remember  LOL>  No real exercise.  Had church and walked up and down steps several times and house cleaned a little bit.  It is so hot outside and Mark was downstairs lifting weights and playing "his" music LOUD so I didn't do ET.  Tonight I was going to go to a business acquaintance of mine to pressure wash back of her house (the back has white siding-smaller house), but it is so hot there is actually a heat advisory out warning people about working outside and she wanted to postphone it until Monday night when it is supposed to be quite a bit cooler.  So then I was going to go to Turbo Kick class, but I have a small temporary pain problem (which I wont mention here by name - but lots of women get this problem after giving birth and it flares up from time to time - so you can probably figure it out!!  LOL!)  So I'm just taking it easy tonight.  I want to be more active this weekend so I hope it really cools off so I can go outside.  If it doesn't I'll exercise indoors as much as possible.  Catching uip on laundry tonight so don't have 7 loads this weekend.  Will probably do one lg load of whites and a medium load of lights and then be almost caught up - only a large dark load left - fascnating discusson, I know I'll try to keep it more mundane from here on out-yuck, yuck!

B:  Micky D Yogurt parfait, homemade iced coffee  250

L:  Saul Good Restaurant Chicken lettuce wraps -  250

S:  3 sections of very large Tootsie Roll-30

S:  3 chips and salsa  35

I find I am getting very curious about my weight....I think I'm very close to my goal of 150.  I may  go to friend's house to weigh soon.

haha, I love your laundry discussion. ;) I seem to do at least 1 big load a day, but there are times when I let it pile up and I end up doing 6-8 loads all day long! Yuck!

Today I had to get up early and drive to a 7:00 meeting in the next town.   I ate breakfast before I left.  I will be leaving work early today!

L:  2 sesame Garlic Chick Thighs, 2 peaches 430

S:  Nature Valley Fruit & Nut Bar 140

Subtotal:  920

Thanks V and Sweetpea for suggestions on the glucosamine and controidin supplements and MysteryWoman for info on calcium.  I think I'll keep with the joint juice until it's gone and then consider looking for capsules or tablets I can open and use or crush and use in a drink, etc.  And I think I'll add calcium to my supplements.  If anyone else has these issues let me know......I have issues swallowing pills.  I even have to take gummy vitamins (for adults).  I can take littlle bitty pills but medium or large ones - forget it.  Just a weird thing I havaen't been able to overcome yet.

It is indeed Gluco and chondro...They are tablets and i just remembered how my mom had to cut pills in half for my sis who had problems with bigger pills...

I was on those supplements for awhile but the FDA made them quit advertising them because there was no proof that they helped. Now they are advertising them for dogs. I swear by my calcium. I have arthritis everywhere but my knees were the worse affected. The calcium has helped my shoulders and back but the knees were too far gone.

I just returned a container of G. & C to the pharmacy as I had a hard time swallowing them. I still have some that I cut up & even then have to choke them down. I still don't take what is recommended. Interesting about the liquid.

I've taken the glucosamine/controidin when my minor arthritis acts up and it helps. I also take black cherry capsules and they really help with joint pain. You might be able to find a black cherry tea if you have issues with pills (my good friend is the same way and is always looking for alternatives). Sounds like you've been kicking butt with the eating and exercise!

Yesterday was good.  I ended the day at about 1250 calories (had a bit of guacamole and a few chips that I didn't update yesterday's entry for) and a 4 mile walk.  

B:  Smoothie with joint juice  250

L:  Worked through lunch with intent to leave work at 3:00 - didn't happen.  Lunch was Trail mix 1/4 C, PNB and yet another iced coffee  350

S:  1 peach 5 chips and 2 T guacamole  150

Subtotal:  750

I have been trying to figure out a way to get in some glucosamine and condrotin but the pills gag me and the liquid is so awful I can't choke it down.  So I tried it in my smoothie last night.  It is almost completely disguised enough that I don't hardly know it's there.  It's extra strength and the claim is that I will feel the difference in 7 days.  Does anyone have any ideas on how else I can disguise it to keep taking it?

Tonight will either be Turbo Kick, the jazz concert or walk with friend.....it's so hot outside I am rooting for Turbo Kick...we'll see.  My back/shoulder is some better, but not completely. 

Been thinking (yikes, you know what that means...LOL!)  About loving myself and what that means in terms of nutrition and choices and "stuff"...When I love myself all effort toward exercise no matter how great, no matter how small is cause for celebration.  A 10 minute walk or weed-pulling session is great.  When I don't love myself no amount of effort is ever enough, I never measure up.  A 25 miles bike ride, an hour on the elliptical, Turbo classes every day for a week don't make a difference to me.  Now, I ask you - which way sounds better to you?  I choose love.  Amen, sisters.

I am going to have to start taking some as well..With all of the plyometrics, it is starting to take it's toll on my knee...I must stop jumping when they jump..LOL I am stopping off at the GNC today..

I've only choked down the pills, yuck. I cant imagine how gross the joint juice tastes. The smoothie is a good idea. I guess I would try making a banana pb smoothie to see if the strong pb banana flavors hide it better...

Do you have a really curious cat or dog? Perhaps they are the one who broke the coffee pot! :)

The $17 ones at Target are the Sunbeam brand. They are the simple ones. I've had bad luck with those, so I normally stick to Mr. Coffee, Hamilton Beach, and Krups. I got newer model of my old Mr. Coffee machine, since it lasted so long. Plus, I like the "brew strength", "delay timer", "clean" and "fresh brew timer" options. I hardly ever remember to turn off the machine, so Im especially thankful for that last feature. :)

So I priced the Gluco at GNC and before i purchased it, i went to the CVS next door, I got a sweet deal there, BOGOF 20 bucks for 120 in all...I had no prob swallowing them..I guess you could try cutting them in half or thirds to help you get them down easier???

Adding on to V's suggestion - the pills seem to break easily, so Im wondering if you could just grind them up into a powder and add them to your meals? Its a lot of work, but it may be easier taste-wise on ya than to drink that juice. Just a thought!

Had an Ok weekend.  Didn't count or exercise much.  But didn't overdo it much either.  I have been fighting fatigue - with sleep and a painful back/shoulder with ibupropen.  I'll be back in the swing this week.

Today is daughter's 20th birthday.  She and bf are going to amusement park in Cincinnati to ride roller coasters.  Something we used to do as a family every summer when we all were younger.  I hope they have good weather.  BF took off work Friday and today to have a long weekend with daughter.  Sweet.  They have quite the time going out and being with friends, etc.

B:  Iced Coffee - not very hungry 100

L:  Still not really hungry, but if don't eat now will pay for it later.......Lavosh with 1 t mayo (can't give it up!LOL!) 2 slices turkey, romaine and tomatos and 1/4 avacado  YUM - filling - for sure.225 - boy that's a lot for the calories! 

S:  Tiny bit of nuts and trail mix  80

D:  One BLT, 1/2 peach, Big smoothie  475-525???

Total so far - 930 and I'm so full!  can this be right?

4 Miles Walk in the miserable hot, humid windless outdoors!

Thinking about it I await the oncome of an emotional eating episode only so that I can sit and try and understand it, what's happening, what am I feeling etc. For me it is about being aware, unfortunately I have so much damage that the emotions could have come from anywhere and from any part of my life!! I am glad that an apple helps you in those situations, I would eat the apple and then look for chocolate, sad, ridiculous, undermining but true. At those times I am in so much pain, confusion, heartbreak, whatever that the brown stuff is the only comfort I can find. Sorry about the rave but you kind of asked for it when you where so kind, and you know what they say " No kind deed goes unpunished"")))))

Good morning!  I didn't update yesterday but I'd say ate between 1500-1600 calories for the day - a very SHORT walk is only exercise.

Intended to attend daughter's Turbo Kick class today after I walked with my friend in another neighborhood  she is new to healthy eating and exercise) but I have a "crick" in my neck and shoulder area!  My friend and I walked about 3 miles or so at a pretty slow pace = but that's OK.  We walked about an hour and a half with my dogs tagging along.  Then we spent some time discussing some landscape ideas for her front yard.  I stopped off at the produce stand and picked up a big bag of fresh green beans, peaches, 3 banana peppers and 3 tomatoes.

Today so far:

B:  Iced coffee,  75, 2 peices of Dbl fiber toast with jam 200 = 275

L:  Peaches, blueberries and Light n Fit Vainlla yogurt, Milk Chocolate 1/2 turkey sandwich 600

D:  Fried Banana Peppers 600

1475 Calories, 3 mile walk with friend.

Very nice - walking with a friend. I've only ever gotten one friend to go out with me ONCE. It was nice - walking & talking. Enjoy your fresh produce!

Today has been pretty good.

Planning on Frankenstein at the local outdoor play in the Park - should be interesting.  We have a friend performing in this one.  He's very good.

Frankenstein in the park sounds great. And thanks for posting that article! Hubby always insists iceberg lettuce is great (his family eats it but I always get romaine or spring mix). I knew it had less vitamins but have been too lazy to research it :)

Yea, I saw that article. I like to use all those veggies for their lo-cal fiber content more than for the taste. I love hummus and using celery and cucumber to eat it allows you to enjoy more hummus in one sitting! :)
