(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

1505 Calories and 2 hours of pressure washing - finished friend's front porch, walk and bricks.

Kind of ate dinner and snacks in stages in the latter part of the day yesterday I had church after work and and then on to friends house to work, so I just kept to healthy stuff for the most part and munched in stages.  A little higher than I usually take in, but I have been working out every day.  My goal is to work out every day this week.  Tonight I may go to daughter's Turbo Kick class.  I am not sure, though because I am a little tired.  Thursdays are my most tired day, usually.  I have had more energy than usual this week, though.  I believe it's because of the exercise.  I haven't ridden my bike this week so if the humidity stays down today I may take a ride.  I want to go see my Mom and Dad tonight or tomorrow night, too, though.....

More later -

B:  Iced Coffee, 1 peach and some pita chips - 295

L:  Corn bread, green beans and squash casserole, 400

S:  1 C Cherries 100

D:  400

1195 but no exercise I was so tired I went to bed around 7:00 and slept through.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

thanks! I think i need to do a trader joes run and stock up so I can pack up good foods. I must say I tried like 5 min of the cheerleader workout and it was pretty boring. I'm going to attempt a few more of the dance routines they have but the warm up and first routine did not feel like a work out at all lol.

We always say "it feels like a sauna out there today" when talking about a humid day.  But yesterday truly was like a sauna weather-wise.  When I went out last night my glasses fogged up!  Needless to say I didn't get a bike ride in - it was just too nasty.  I didn't walk,or finish Luci's pressure washing, either - BUT......I did an hour of Turbo Jam with the hand weights!!  And I ended the day with 1050 calories - not real good nutrition, either, but was the best I could do yesterday....

Today we are planning to go to the free concert again with friends, but if it is still so humid we will just go get a casual meal with our friends  :o)

B:  Iced Coffee, 1/2 banana  150

L:  1/4 small quiche 350, small salad - greens only and LF sesame dressing 2 T  200 = 550

S:  Trail Mix (healthy/LF)  200

Sub total so far:900

I will chose carefully tonight!

Also - check this out!!

She won the swimsuit category, too, I believe!

D:  Mango, 1/2 plain turkey sandwifch, fresh cherries 250

S:  Mango and Skinny Cow ice cream!  220

1370 calories, may have more later and will update tomorrow.  Did a Turbo Kick Class with the best instructor - my daughter Rachel!  One Hour!  Woo-Hoo.  I made it through and kept up mostly just fine!!!

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

That's what I love about summer in the city, free concerts, block parties and such...Well not so much here but in Chicago there are block parties/festivals every weekend for free, not to mention "Shakespeare in the Park" and my favorite, the classics(mainly black and white movies) at grant park....I do believe i just made myself homesick...LOL!!! Have fun today Holly!!!!

I hate humidity! It sucks the energy out of you so quickly, it screws up your hair, and fogs up your glasses quicker than an hot oven can when you open it! We're under a heat warning today, so we'll be staying inside with the exception of going the grocery store. I think I heard a high of 100 with a heat index of 108! YUCK! Thank goodness rain is on our way...we'll cool down to 90 degrees by the end of the week!

Stay hydrated!!

Good deal on the Turbo Jam! It's 88 here and humid a anything, I was drenched after hefting my topsoil yesterday. Too hot to weed the gardens too!

h82bfat on 07/12/2011:
Ugh!! I hate when the humidity is that bad! But you didn't let it stop you from doing something & that's what really matters. Used to be that the winter was the hardest time of the year for me to stay focussed, but this heat is doing a number on me too!

~Moody~ on 07/12/2011:
Nasty humidity here in WV as well~I turned on the AC in my car the other morning when I left work and steam actually came thru the vents!! And my glasses steam up all the time..grrr!!

Don't remind me about humidity, PLEASE, I know that summer will be here sooner than I want! I am going to enjoy my cold day even more now that you have reminded me. I think that you did so well getting that workout in even though the weather was disgusting. Good for you holly:)

Oh...about the humidity...yep, we've def been having some humid days here, too. But, I just say...it IS July after all (and prob more of the same August, too). Hope you're having a nice evening over there in beautiful Kentucky! :-D

Didn't count calories yesterday but I didn't do out of the oridinary - good enough, etc.  I did the big Turbo Jam workout described in yesterday's entry and I did about 2 hours of intense work at my friends house.  Sawed off tree limbs and pressure washed her front porch and walk.  Still have her deck and handrails out front to do.   She's having company next weekend and didn't know how to get it done $$, etc. so I pitched in.  It was a good workout and fun to work as a team.

B:  Coffee, Banana  200

L:  Chicken Spinach Sausage 147,

S:  Trail Mix Various  200

S:  Lady finger biscuits 150

D:  Smoothie - X Large - 350

1050 Calories and 1 hour Turbo with handweights!  YAY!

Wow I want you to come help me with my yard stuff- you go gal!

Bike sales- oh me oh my- I won't tell you how much we spent in the last 30 days but- our anny gifts to each other were new bike shoes and helmets (Carbon soled shoes by speacialized and the new specialized prevail helmets) now two weeks later- new tires for both bike and we each got shorts (he got a set of bibs actually) and jerseys. Yeah our fun money is spent for a little while! we ride Scott CR1's (mine's an elite, he has a pro because the elite he was getting had a factory flaw and he got a free upgrade- go figure) which we bought a year ago Feb- they ran about $3000.00 each and we run them with Sram Rival. Prior to these we had Trek 5000 which are also carbon bikes.

greengirl on 07/11/2011:
I don't know where you get all your enrgy from Holly !!!

FitAmbitions on 07/11/2011:
Ty for your fabulous feedback! Yes I admit I am spoiled with my bike and gear, but I also love it and feel I appreciate everything I have. We started off entry level and I think starting off and building up that way for me, gives everything so much more meaning. Wish I could help you with finding a ride, I know this is a good time of year for buying bikes with the summer sales. We bought our in Feb of 2010 and got a GEAT deal as they were the outgoing models from the year before. Best thing though is fit, and try before you ride. When we switched over to Scott's, hubby road about 5 different bikes, including the Trek Madone series, but when he tried his Scott, he 'knew'. I wasn't even in the market for a new bike when I got mine, but hubby told me to try a test ride and oh my wow, what a difference! Love it! Have fun with it and keep me posted! Happy Wheels!

:) Thank you!!! You get me :) I get you too :) There are other ways of determining how far you have come without EVER having to step on the scale again...That scale can play major head games on you (and sometimes the mirror, which thankfully has never turned on me) Man it is really nice to see how far I have come without it being the end all, be all...So instead of celebrating how many lbs that we have lost, lets celebrate how healthy we are now :) sorry I was almost gonna deliver a speech here but you get what I am saying, I am so proud to call you and Rachel my friend, the three of us share alot in common and we have successfully overcome that :)

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Well, from everyone's comments it appears I am in good company when it comes to disliking housework.  I didn't get as much as I wanted to done, but I did get quite a bit.  I just had to stop and do some cleaning as it had gotten above my dirt threshold (which is pretty high, by the way).  Going to catch up on laundry today.  We have been running around during the week and on weekends.  So it was WAY behind.

Yesterday was a weird food day and I didn't update my menus due to the fact that i can't remember everything I ate.  It muched and munched all day long. Probably had more than 1800 calories, but maybe not....I don't particularly regret it as I don't have that food "hangover" feeling today.  Also it wasn't "mindless" eating as I contemplated eating everything before I ate it.

My exercise goal is to ride 10 miles a day on my bike this week.  More consistency than distance.  We'll see.  First I want to find a couple of routes that are 5 miles so I can ride them out and back.  I have been leaving exercise up to "what I feel like doing" at the time and it's pretty obvious that if I just wait for "the spirit to move me" I don't do it very often.  I must have a plan and go for it.  This comes as an actualy surprise to me, because I do enjoy exercise.

I have also discovered that I don't feel "free" to exercise if the house is a total wreck, so one goal is to keep the house up just a little bit more each day, too.

B:  Coffee

Turbo Jam -  Kick, Punch and Jam Plus Turbo Abs  About 1.5 hours AND did it ALL with the hand weights.  I think the biking has kept me stronger as I hadn't done Turbo in a long time and it really wasn't much effort at all.  :o)

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

just42day on 07/10/2011:
I hear ya on the housework. Didn't finish mine yesterday either. I also understand the not feeling "free" to do other things if housework isn't done. I also get those nagging feelings (guilt?) if I know some basics need to be done. Good for your for setting weekly exercise goal. I know you can do it!

loveray on 07/10/2011:
happy sunday! here's hoping you get your housework done with ease and joy:)

KathyBlue on 07/10/2011:
Munchies attack? Well, today is a better day and look at you, you're doing great most of the time, with food and exercise, so you don't whip yourself over one failure. Sometimes we do need them, to recognize we are human beings... :) LOL, maybe that's why I love tennis. I always fail, I sometimes win, most of the times lose but I am a human being, alone on one side of the court, against all the world (which, in this case consists of an other human being on the other side of the net), and I have to fight because no one else does it for me... :D Gives me a purpose to live at large in space and time, I love every moment of it.

moogy on 07/10/2011:
Good idea with doing the bike each day and not worrying about the distance just the consistency. I have a talcum powder threshold, as it is only me that lives up here in my little apartment it doesn't get 'dirt' but that talc just makes a fine coating on everything. Nice to be back and see that you have turned to the dark side (Turbo)!! LOL

V on 07/10/2011:
Yes!!! Sounds like you had a good workout and all over Awesome weekend :) Mucho Love to you :)

KathyBlue on 07/11/2011:
Holly! :) Magnesium+Calcium combo was recommended to me because of the cramps. And the "noise", it's the cracking sound of the muscles/bones, I could hear it all the time while stretching/walking up stairs... So, since I'm taking this dietary supplement, the cramps are less frequent (still appeared on Saturday's aquafitness) and the cracking's gone!

Updated yesterday's entry 1290 calories and no exercise.  It was late by the rime we got home.  See below...we wound up not going to Louisville due to traffic back up all over that side of town.

Today so far:

B:  Soothie  300

S:  Watermelon 60??

I am cleaning house at the moment and will catch up with everyone later.  It's threshold cleaning day - 4 aluminum thresholds that are very dirty.  Got 3 done - 1 to go.  Getting these nice and shiny again really improves the look around the doors.  Small but necessary grunt work.  :o)

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Around 1200 calories yesterday and no exercise - was so tired.  Not sure why.  Stress (underlying) ??  I have not been exercising as much as I want to due to low energy.  I notice that I have more energy when I exercise, but like last night I am virtually walking around like a zombie.  Vitamins?  I need to start taking those again.....I haven't been doing that.....need to load up and take some to work so I remember.  If I have them at my desk I am much more likely to take them!  That means the Fish Oil and Vitamin D3, too!

Got up early this morning and made green beans in the pressure cooker.  They turned out pretty good.  I didn't put any ham or meat in them - they are 100% fat free although I can't comment about the sodium count..  :o)  I used Orrington Farm Ham seasoning in them plus some ground red pepper.  That gives them the ham falvor that we Kentuckians like in our green beans......not everyone's cup of tea, but I like them that way.

Having Iced Coffee this morning and not sure what else......Maybe some watermelon.  Thanks goes to V for suggestions on how to find a good one.   :o)   YAY!

B:  Iced Coffee 100

L:  Slaw, corn on the cob (1), kale greens 1 corn stick and a piece of plain cake for co-worker's birthday - only had a slight lemon glaze on it - probably 2" X 2"  piece....Yummy  Going to say 600 calories for this meal!

Husband and I will eat out in Louisville, KY tonight - 1.25 hour drive - visiting funeral home - my friend's mother passed away Wednesday - long illness - alzheimers. Sad - my friend seems peaceful with it. She was a good daughter to her parents (both are gone now).

Subtotal 700 and I am VERY FULL - still

D:  1 and 1/2 pieces of 14" pizza from Mellow Mushroom 300

S:  Quaker Granola Snack Bar 90

1090 + 200 calories of something else  - I can't remember as I know I didn't go that low.

1290 no exercise.

Believe it our not we didn't make it to Louisville,  There were traffic accidents all over the exits to the interstate and no matter which way we went we were blocked in traffic....would have been so late by the time we got there. Will call friend later tomorrow.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

loveray on 07/08/2011:
underlying stress can definitely suck your energy right away!! time for some restorative yoga:) wish i was there to come practice with you. have a fantastic weekend - xoxo

The vitamins could definitely help, and I recently recommended St. John's Wort to V, it really mellows me out when I'm stressed and just puts me on a more even keel so I can get stuff done. I hope your energy returns soon!

Hiya Hollz, jeeze i was the same this morning, think i have burnt myself out with all this exercise BUT if i stop it would turn into a downward spiral which ain't good.I do tend to eat slightly more when i don't gym aswell, don't get me wrong nothing calorific,so i think it's just mind over matter :/Try and do some chillin over the weekend. The weather here has been rubbish sunshine and showers, but still on the warm side :)

S:  Healthy Trail Mix  320

D:  Lots and lots of watermelon and bowl of cereal no banana, no almonds -  400

Total calories = 1180 +/- as I may have been a tiny bit low on counts....100 or so still good, though.  No exercise as I didn't feel very well.  TIRED. Took big nap after work and went to bed at 11:00 after short trip for necessities to the grocery.

hey I just read your reply to Tange and i must say that i am shocked you got bad watermelons :( I wait to buy them usually around end of June, but I aways check to see what region they are from if buying at the grocery...If they are a product of Mexico, it's a no go...I find my best ones are from Mississippi, and if you find someone selling them along the side of the road, those are usually the ripest ever, and they usually let ya sample the goods :P

KathyBlue on 07/07/2011:

Hello DD Friends!  I didn't intend to be missing in action - but have been really busy last 24 hours or so.....Concert last night was great.  See FB pics of the crowd and my husband w/dogs.  I have to say it's not that flattering of husband, but you get the idea of what he might look like...he's cute ;o)

I haven't really exercised much yesterday or today, but I will walk tonight and plan to do some Turbo Abs.

Miss you guys....more later....

B:  Lady wafers and iced coffee  350

L:  Arby's Jr (Hey, I was on the road between appointments)Cals??  I will post later

S:  Energy Trail Mix - 1/4 C  160

OK I walked 4 miles tonight after church meeting, BUT I had the worst food meltdown I have had in many months!  I went nuts on the lady finger wafers - why or why did I think I could only eat a few?  Because usually I CAN!  Today was different and I will not think about it too long - I will only plan and think about good eating and taking care of myself.

I'd say I have eaten around 2200 calories today....Weird day.

Now there is something i haven't seen on your menu in a while...Girl it is more than fine, I know how much you love your Arby's and every now and then, you can splurge...Hey I was so looking forward to seeing you on the pics :( Maybe next time...Hint Hint...LOL BTW Rachel looks JUST like you!!! Beautiful :)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/06/2011:
that's an interesting breakfast. i guess a lady deserves lady wafers haha.

overall, looks like a decent menu...even with the arby's. last night i had a junior hamburger from wendy's. very satisfying! fast food hits the spot every time, although having it too often will probably not do any good at all. lol.

sweetpea1977 on 07/06/2011:
yes, you hubby is cute. :)

I LOVE Arby's. I drool everytime I see the big hat! I always get the same time when I splurge there - medium roast beef topped with both Arby Sauce and Horsey Sauce, curly fries, and a small jamocha shake. Mmmm! Yea, I only eat there like 4 times a year, if that, lol!

Im betting tomorrow will be a less hungry day, so dont stress too much because nobody is perfect.

I found that 60 minutes was too easy, so I bumped it up a notch. My feet usually start getting tired the last 20 minutes, but I ignore it and push myself since I dont like to cut myself short. The only day I might do that is on "leg" day when I push myself to the limit during my strength workouts. I usually can only do an hour on those days. :)

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday ended with around 1550 calories and a 1.5-2.0 mile estimated walk around downtown late for the 4th festivities.  I was so tired yesterday morning and afternoon and went back to bed to snooze.  Most everything was over except the fireworks by the time we got there.

I posted a couple of pic on my FB page of the the tail-end of a concert under the small pavilion and a shot up the street mainly of people walking toward the firework site.  Not very exciting, but you get the idea of what that section of our town looks like.

More later today....

B:  Two pieces of toast with jam, coffee  350

L:  1/2 cantelope and 1 peach 140?

S:  Trail Mix 160

Sub T = 650?

S:  Pita Chips and jam! 150

D:  6 ribs - small ones and tomato, 450

S:  Ice Cream cone  120

1370 Calories - no real exercise.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

Yes, I try hard to concentrate on the bright side of life ... It's tough, rough... but hope dies last, and adding a bit of optimism, life becomes rather enjoyable, even in harder times. Risks have to be taken, decisions have to be made, and for better or worse, we have to live throughout the consequences of all of these.

KathyBlue on 07/05/2011:
I have to check the FB from home. I don't have access to it from work. :(

Thank you for your comment to me. :-D I see that you are doing extremely well with your calories and walking. Does it get very warm up there in Kentucky in the summer? My husband and I have ever been there when it was cool or cold in the autumn. :-D

So sorry to have shocked you - though I completely understand why it took you (and everyone else) by surprise. It's been too, too long. Seems like everything is going well for you - great! Also seems that you're pedaling your a$$ all over town and everywhere else. Fabulous exercise! Good for you!
