(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated.  Not enought calories yesterday - not very hungry.  No exercise except walking around a bit at the park with dogs while listening to free jazz concert.  Up at the crack of dawn today to go to client employee meeting.  Home early this afternoon for a nap!  Today is 21st wedding anniversary. We are going out to eat - Italian - husband's favorite.  I plan to have a salad as I have had quite a bit of calories so far - due to not eating enough yesterday.  Just wasn't that hungry.  Not the best choices today, but I may just keep it reasonable and chalk it up.

B: Iced coffee 75 Small

L:  1/2 grilled burger - frest ground with peperjack cheese  400 (Hugh Jass Burger - YUMMY!!)  No sides

S:  Scone  Orange Cranberry - 350

D:  Small dinner salad - plain with light Italian 175, fried zuchinni 300? One tiny slice of bread with butter and 3 bites of Tira misu  300?

1600 calories and no exercise due to "digestive issues" and fatigue from getting up at 4:30 for early meeting, etc.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated 1215 cals and 3 mile walk.

More later.....  :o)

B:  Iced coffee  100

L:  Fazoli's apple almond chopped salad  550!!  (A guess bc this salad is new no nutrition values posted on the web yet)

No bread sticks, either-don't be impressed - I don't actually LIKE Fazoli's bread. It's odd that Fazoli's would make a big deal about all their new helathy choices - and yet this salad has 550 cals in it.  The dressing is low fat and low cal so who knows how they got that total.  I was going by other similar salads.  Of course - if you eat 3 meals a day - 550 calories each - that comes to 1650 calories - very good.  I'm just used to lower cals at lunch.

S:  Quaker Granola Bar 90

D:  1/2 hotdog at park where went to a jazz concert w dogs-great night 150?

S:  fruit 65

So around 1000 cals - too low.  Went to bed early due to having to e a client employee meeting at 6:00 a.m.  No exercise.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

Hello there Holly :) I am hoping for a Stellar day for you :)

getmebackto150 on 06/14/2011:
I think that 550 calories for a salad is actually pretty decent... IF (big if) its large and filling... When I got to salad creations (amazing salad restaurant) I get a VERY hearty salad that is huge and filling and its around 600 calories... I too usually have a smaller lunch, but then I end up either snacking or starving at night, so maybe the larger lunch is the key?? Have a great day!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated.  I did OK on calories, but had some treats - which is OK - waffles (buckwheat w lots of gr flax seed), choc covered peanuts ( just a few) and a skinny cow ice cream....1540 cals and all that talk about exercise was just that.  I was very tired due to getting up at 5:00 Sunday a.m. - gotta start taking the sleep med again.  I am up early (4 am) this morning, too.  I have a stressful week.  Dad finds out about his ct scan today, I have two big work events and who knows what else will crop up - that is certainly enough.  I am very concerned about dad as he has lost more weight (not a good sign in his case).  But will think positive until we know something definite.  Husband went over and watched a movie with him yesterday.  He said they BOTH fell asleep!  Dad just got Netflix, but it doesn't say much for the movie!  Evidently it was a Chinese one - with subtitles!

More later....

B:  Iced Coffee - homemade, 2 boiled eggs 230

L:  Kids' Subway Tuna on 9 Grain Wheat-no cheese, Light Chips and Diet Coke - I had no choices today.....240+70 = 310

D:  LS Turkey sandwich on dbl fiber with tiny bit mayo and cantelope watermelon mix 275

Subtotal 815 but I'll have more before long - a little bit of something to make at least 1100 calories  Walked 3 miles tonight w dogs and husband.

Cereal, 1/2 banana and one Quaker Granola bar - Can you say CARB CITY??  400

= 1215 cals for the day and 3 mile walk

Sorry no good news about Dad to share.  The chemo he has been taking is no longer working.  They gave him a choice to have the same chemo + another chemo drug as "last ditch" effort.  He said he wanted to give it a try.  Dr. told him side effects of this combo no worse than what he already has.  Will be another 6 weeks and we'll see if this works to keep growth of cancer to minimum.  I'm very sad.  But hold out hope.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 06/13/2011:

Sounds like it'll be a stressful week for you. I hope all goes well with your Dad. Stay strong!

KathyBlue on 06/13/2011:
The traffic wasn't bad because today was a national holiday! I got to work in 30-40 mins, then I went to meet my man more down below, then he came by public transport and I made the same 30-40 mins back to downtown, and caught the train home! :D I was so tired in the morning, and I'm still sore but it felt good! Primarily because I overcame my fears and used my bike HERE in Lisbon, for the first time in history! You know, I used to have a pro bike in Hungary. Cost me like 500 euros back then, but I used to wake up at 5 AM, and ride it out of pleasure with my friend. Then we got back home around 6h30 AM, showered and went to school. Then, after school we went for a bigger ride again...! So, I really love to ride the bike, but my daemons were talking louder - TIL TODAY!!!!!!!!! :-))))

greengirl on 06/13/2011:
So sorry to hear your dad's news. You will have to be strong for longer now Hollybelle. I really hope the new chemo works for him.

It's a real bummer that cancer word.My mum was diagnosed when she was 40.We where always mistaken for sisters as she always looked young for her age but when the cancer got a grip the pain showed in her face. She never lost any hair through treatment,or never lost much weight which was a good thing as i want to remember her when she had her make up on and her hair done which she was very particular about,it's fifteen yrs now since she past away.Thinking of you Holly, positive thinking and all that :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. (((HUGS))) I went thru something very similar with my mother... DON'T let the stress derail you. I will keep you BOTH in my thoughts.

The ointment that I'm using is called: Protopic (tacrolimus ointment). Seems to be working on 2 of my rashes, stops the itch on a 3rd (though that one isn't subsiding any). Alot of the creams I've been given in the past had steroids in 'em, which turned out, in my case, to be a bad thing.... Probably allergic to 'em.

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday was 1550 calories and a 24.6 mile bike ride.  It was awesome.  The temp was high - around 95, but we went fairly early -go to the trail at 10:10 or so not sure what time we got back to the car, but we calculated we were probably averaging 15 MPH.  Not bad at all for having a headwind all the way back.  That trail is situated so that is usually the case.  The way the prevailing winds blow if it is windy you will always have wind in your face on the return trip.  Today I plan to do a walk - either 2 mile walk + Turbo Fire or 4 Mile walk and Ab jam.....

B:  Planning Waffles!  Pecan Buckwheat.....Ate 2 Buckwheat waffles  600

L:  Probably the last of the Grilled Chicken on another salad.  Maybe swithc to LF Balsamic Vin.  It's so good.  I notice V puts that on her salads.   I put lots of baby spinach in my salads and Either Tender Lettuces or Baby Lettuces.  I like them mild and tender.....:o) Ate 1/2 grilled chicken sandwich on dbl fiber bread with nothing on it.  Some cantelope 150

D:  Grilled sirloin hamburger with lett, tom, mustand, ket, pickles and onion  Yum  - Nothing with it.  On toasted (no buttter) bun 400

S:  watermelon, cantelope 100

S:  15 chocolate covered peanuts 150

S:  Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich 140

1540 But didn't do any of the exercise I planned.  Had to go to the grocery and catch up laundry.  And I was pretty tired from getting up at 5:00 Sunday a.m. bc didn't take any sleep medication.  I will start doing that again Monday night.  Still want to check into Valerian root.....Also didn't do any pressure washing on the deck.....:o(  There is still time for that this summer or fall, but it must be done along with painting trim on the outside of the house.  It's really only around doors (4) including front, garage, deck and basement.  All the rest of the trim is vinyl.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

h82bfat on 06/12/2011:
Your bike ride sounds amazing! Your description made me think back to the days when I used to ride (teenager). There was just something about how free you felt on a bike... It's the one thing I don't like about living in "the city" - no good places to ride.

KathyBlue on 06/12/2011:
WOW! You just gave me motivation to prepare the bike for tomorrow. :-) It'll be my first time to stroll around in Lisbon on a bike, I'm having a stage fright already... AB JAM, yayyyy :-) Each person received a gift from the company yesterday night - a pen drive, 1 GB... 1 GB is a very small capacity nowadays, but I already have my Turbo Jam Fat Blaster video on it. :-)

KathyBlue on 06/12/2011:
wow, h82bfat is so right, feeling free on a bike, that's sooooo true! The adrenaline rush it is, and cycling into the wind is a great feeling on the face!

nosetwitch on 06/12/2011:
Yeah, recording everything I eat is mandatory to me losing weight also, I think. It's too easy to cheat if you don't write it down. Great job on the bike ride!

KathyBlue on 06/13/2011:
Agree - too easy to cheat if it's not written down... but at some point we have to stop writing down, we cannot do that for a lifetime without losing our minds, or can we?

KathyBlue on 06/13/2011:
The sardines in bread (rye bread) are tradition on Saint Anthony day's celebrations, they were selling them all over the place, locally prepared in temporary, improvised barracks along with beer, sangria and ginjinha (Portuguese typical sour cherry liquor). :) The sardines were expensive (1,50€/piece, bread incl.) but were very YUMMMYYYY and healthy, as they were salted and grilled on carbon :) I ate 3 of them, I confess. :)

KathyBlue on 06/13/2011:
I have only 1 photo of me, but it's crappy. I am not smiling, and I had my face "clayed" earlier so I was red like someone who just had one more bottle of sangria... :)

1220 cals yesterday.+ 2 mile walk  - better than nothing.  I was so tired last night.  I went to bed about 9:30 and slept until 6:30 this morning!  No drugs.  Planning a bike ride - 18 miles or so, but the sky is dark and threatening.  If not bike ride - Turbo Jam.  I posted a few pictures of some of my flowers.  I didn't take pics of the really pretty pots because the prettiest flower in them closes up in the morning - may take more pics later and will post.  Also hope to snap a few of the whole patio and deck when cushions are out etc.  Had to put all up since it may rain.

B: Toast and jam, iced coffe  300

It cleared off and didn't rain - as a matter of fact sun out in full force.  HOTTTT!  We went on the bike ride.  YAY!  We did 24.6 miles!  It was an out and back ride. Going out we averaged between 15 + 17MPH so let's say 16.  Coming back we averaged only 12-14 in the face of a strong headwind.  So say 13.  Between the two that probably averages to 15 MPH which is awesome.  Especially for the first time out on a big ride this year.  Last weekend I probably rode 12 miles - judging by this ride - which was measured. I am a road warrier (gotta watch this kind of talk -LOL-V - you are rubbin' off on me in a good way!!).  Seriously I feel so powerful!  I have to watch for injuries when I feel this good.  Endorphins are surging, I'd say.

Came home and had lunch -

L:  whole turkey and amish swiss sandwich, a few strawberries and yes - another skinny cow ice cream sandwich. 200 +65+35+10+140 = 450 I needed this for recovery.   YAY!

S:  nuts, 7 wheat thins and 1/2 slice swiss cheese 250

D: Grilled chicken salad w LF Poppy Seed and one bun with Jam 550

1550 Cals and BIG bike ride - see above.....Also posted pics of the prettiest flower pots and my patio and Deck Furniture with cushions, etc.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

Weight: 165.6

Yesterday was a good day - 1475 calories and a 2 mile walk in the a.m.  Husband came home and we had a relaxing time grilling and eating on the patio.  It was actually cool and there was a very slight breeze.  Dogs were snoozing at our feet and we ate good healthy food - no starches.

I got up this morning and took the dogs for another 2 mile walk.  Daughter didn't go this time.  So far today:

B:  Iced coffee, 75, boiled egg 65  140

L:  With my dad (unexpectedly) - 2 fried banana peppers (hey - believe it or not - the best choice on the menu of this place he likes!!!)..300

S:   almonds and cashews  150

D:  1/2 dressed grilled chicken sandwich on homemade bun 200

S:  Skinny cow Ice cream sandwich 140

1130 cals and I'm full at least for now and 2 miles walking this a.m.

I am planning a bike ride with my neighbor across the creek tomorrow a.m. at 9:30.  It will be a fairly long one - 18 miles out at the paved bike trail across town.  Cant wait.  I hope it doesn't rain.   It's scattered showers tonight.  We need rain, though.  The grass is already turning brown.

Ta Ta For now!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

I had a low cal day yesterday 1150, but that's OK.  I havaen't been exercising a lot this week, and it wasn't on purpose.  I had everything I wanted to eat.

Took Supercheese's suggestion and exercised this morning = while it was still fairly cool (but extremely humid) - walked two miles  =  not really a lot of effort to do that.  But it starts the day off right.

B:  Iced Coffee, boiled egg 140

L:  Food being brought by carrier rep so free lunch - I hope there is something healthy - It wasn't healthy - But it was free.  Pizza.  I ate one piece of pepperoni and one veggie - both think and crispy crust -  520

Subtotal = 660 for 1/2 way through my calories and 1/2 way through the day so - not too bad.....

S:   Pineapple, 7 almonds and 5 slices of choconannas (melt a tiny bit of chocolate and dip slices of banana in it on one side and freeze = good treat.  You can also add chopped peanuts on top of each 200

D:  1/2 Grilled chicken breast and grilled vegetables again.  I have a big stock of grilled chicken breasts in the 'frig now for the weekend.  I may wind up freezing some of them, but between husband and d's bf - they will likely get eaten. Then a medium smoothie 350+225 =575

Total calories - 1475- not too bad for having pizza for lunch today but it's all good.  Nothing is "off limites" if I am willing to fit the calories in.  I could have skipped the smoothie after dinner, but it was so good and cold.  Plus it helped me work a bunch of fruits in today.  YAY!

Other people's posts have made me stop and think this week - one thing that I have been spending some time thinking about is how often we concentrate on what we don't want, what we can't have (to eat and more).  If we keep meditating (continualy thinking about - over and over) those are the things that wll stay with us.....I don't want to spend anymore time with those things...I am going to spend more time on thinkinig about what I do have, what I do want and what I can have.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

That's so true, about being concentrated on the "must not" list! In addition it works the other way around - the more we concentrate on things we mustn't do, the more frustration we accumulate. And where the fat people go when frustrated???? YES, we all know the answer!

Yesterday was updated 1285 calories, BUT no exercise.  This is becoming a pattern during the week.  I didn't get back from Mom & Dad's until later BUT I could have walked, at least.  I was emotionally tired after spending time with them - a walk would have picked me up a bit if I would have just put the shoes on and headed out the door -

B:  Iced Vanilla Coffee (homemade) 175  A couple of tastes of the filling for a coconut pie I made for a co-worker's BD.  I won't be eating any of it - I'll send it home with him.  :o)

L:  1/2 Sm Grilled Chicken Breast on Baby Lettuces with 5 cashews, red onion and 2T LF poppy seed dressing - smaller than yesterday's salad and no bread but had 3 marshmellows for a treat so probably good guess is 325  :o)

D:  Boiled Egg, toast with jam, pineapple and ice cream sandwich 650 Goes to show you gotta plan! I totally didn't.  Just grazed and ate what I wanted.  Cals OK, though and it made me feel like I was cheating.....

1150 calories.  I  have to do some exercise, but I am so drained.

While I was at lunch - I go home - I live so close - a DECK STORAGE BOX I ordered from Amazon came! I almost have it put together - mostly snaps in place.   I have wanted one for so long, bc I think we don't use our patio and deck often enough bc we have to get the pillows from the basement and take them back, etc.  So I'm hoping we will find this more convenient.  It is a great color - matches the deck furniture and has a built in seat.  Now I need my stand fan to create a breeze no matter what the weather and I'll be set!   Best part - I had an Amazon gift certificate and it only cost me $43.00 (would have been around $180!).

hurch tonight til 7:00.  I am wearing a skirt that was too tight and now it is falling below my waist.  So I KNOW I have lost weight.  I'd say close to 10 lbs....by the way clothes are fitting.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 06/08/2011:
Good deal on the storage box! We have a mosquito net contraption (runs on propane and electric) that hubby needs to set up so we can enjoy sitting out on our deck without getting eaten!

Umpqua on 06/08/2011:
And wow on the skirt falling off, that is AWESOME!

moogy on 06/08/2011:

The high today has been downgraded from 98 to 93!  Last night was surprisingly pleasant outside.  Our patio was comfortable.  Although it was hot, the humidity was lower and we were able to enjoy some outdoor time.

uuuu, I love yesterday's dinner! Those grilled veggies would make me drool (but I've just finished my lunch, LOL), and I like the description detail ("Wonderful") of the grilled chicken. I haven't TRIED TurboJam ABS yet. I saw it, and now I want to begin doing only the first part for the next few weeks, just to get used to exercise at home. Five to ten minutes is not much. I know what my problem is, anyway. It's purely psycological anyway: I hate to be @home dressed up. Even if it's workout clothes we're talking about. First thing I do when I arrive home is changing clothes to pajamas, and I also can't get used to the idea of working out in pajamas... So I'm in a Catch-22 situation with myself. I should buy a pair of workout shorts for home because I don't have any at the moment - that would help big time. Last time I did an hour of Biggest Loser weight-loss yoga at home, which was great accomplishment.

It has been pretty hot here too as you can imagine...It is already 78 degrees here and it is expected to be in the mid 90's...Wheww. i hope you have a chance to get your Turbo on today :)

liza36 on 06/07/2011:
Thank goodness for the lower temperature, although 83 is high for me! Have a great day.

~Moody~ on 06/07/2011:
Sposed to be hot here today as well~in the 90s..Glad you were able to enjoy the patio last night~

Hope you have a great day~

moogy on 06/07/2011:
I am glad that you had a good time outside last night. I know that any drop in temprature is gratefully received, although I think that once it gets over 85 degrees it doesn't make much difference to me. It is just damn hot!!! Have a great day Holly and a good time with your parents tonight.:)

midwest50 on 06/07/2011:
