Yesterday is updated.  I stayed within calories but read about the carb debacle (sp??), no exercise bc I was beat and went to bed early. Like I concluded below - it wasn't a total disaster but whew!   No fruits or vegetables, nutrition was not good.  Oh well, today is new day and it will be better.  Must go to grocery today for picnic food and stuff to eat.  We are very low on eveything here.  Family went out to eat while I stayed home and slept!

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

Yesterday is updated.  1445 calories - a tad high, but nothing to be concerned about.  2 mile walk.  Was feeling a little tired yesterday but better today. 

We are having husband's family and neighbors over for picnic on Sunday and we still have quite a bit to do in the yard/patio and deck before then.  Some (maybe all) of my exercise will be this type of work.  I am already concerned with being around so much food this weekend on Sunday and Monday, but I will do my best and ENJOY some good stuff I dodn't usually eat and leave it at that on Monday night.

B:  McD's SF/ LF Iced Vanilla Coffee (small) 80, yogurt parfait (no granola) 140 = 220

L:  Subway 6" Orchard Chik Salad Sandwich w tomato and lettuce only, light Lays Pot. Chips and Diet Lemonade = 355

S: BIG piece wheat bread with blueberry cream cheese 300

D:  3 slices of red, white and blueberry bread with plain whipped cream cheese 400

Total:  1275 calories

WOW - I drove to see my parents and they were'nt home yesterday after work and since they live by Great Harvest Bread Co.I stopped in for a load of red, white and blueberry bread that I like to get on Memorial Day Weekend and Fourth of July.  That was fine, BUT they give free bread slices and I said YES to the Honey WW .  then went home and had the RW&BB, too.  So, I didn't really eat dinner and it was a carb loaded day.  I did stay inside my calorie count but I was beat last night - went to bed early.  No problem - it wasn't THAT bad.....

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

Weekends are also dangerous for me. Someone visits us,brings some sweety as a gift or someone invites us to dinner or picnic etc. I'm trying to store determination every friday for an unexpected invitation :) Have good day holly!

Another good day yesterday.  Updated my post yesterday.  around 1400 calories and 1.5 hours of the Turbo Jam dvd.  It was fun.  Neighbor made an appearance and we decided to try more at night than morning.  That suits me.  I can do either one.

Havaen't eaten anything today so far.  Probably will have an egg for breakfast in a minute and am having tea now.

B:  Tea, Kashi Bar 170

L:  1/4 C Tuna Salad, 16 wheat thins, boiled egg  305

S:  Sugar Free Iced Vanilla Coffee from McD's -120 

Dinner Out:  Appetizer BBQ Ribs, salad with FF balsmic dressing, broccoli.  A few peanuts  Probably about 450??  This restaurant serves those homemade yeast rolls with a tub of soft butter.  I love them, but I didn't have even ONE!  I just thought of how full I would be when I finished all the rest of the stuff and how carbs like the starchy bread would weigh me down and I'd feel bad afterwards and they just didn't look all that good to me.  Reasoning is good.

S:  Cereal and 1/2 banana 300

So today's totals:

1445 and 2 mile walk.  Neighbor and I were going to do Turbo, but she had a school meeting tonight and I had counseling and it was getting late and I'll save some energy and rest knee for tomorrow.  Big weekend coming up.  Couseling is going  really well, btw.  I feel so much more positive about life in general and espcially home life and husband/daughter relationships.  Highly recommend it to anyone having conflicts - large or small.  Good work.

Yesterday is updated and the count was 1340 calories and 4 miles walk.

I am getting ready to go downstairs and do Turbo Jam this morning.  I slept very well last night.  Went to bed at 11:15-11:30 and only took 1/2 the tylenol p.m. because it was so late, but nevertheless, I slept through the entire night until 5:45.  Perfect.  Only 6 hours, but that's all I needed last night.

Not sure what menus will be.....Will post as I go as usual.....in the meantime, have a wonderful day, everyone and God bless. 

P.S.  Big shout out to Maria - we miss you, are you taking a small break?

S: Salad with spinach baby greens, sliced almonds, raisins, boiled egg, lf poppy seed dressing, red onions 375 

I haven't eaten enough today so I will eat something else and update later.  I did an hour and a half of Turbo Jam today.  So it's been a good day.

1400 calories and 1.5 hours of Turbo Jam

Excelent walk & calorie intake! Yeah - I looked at those Breathe Right strips too... until I saw the price! I'd have to spend a fortune on this man!! ;c) So, I'm gonna stick with my homegrown stop snoring methods of poking him in the side, kicking the mattress and/or throwing blackets on his head.

Homemade chicken salad sounds awesome. I usually put mayo in my tuna too, I've been using the Smart Balance Omega Plus and it's not too terrible. A little fat in the diet is definitely necessary!

I haven't exercised yet today bc I overslept  a bit - 9 hours straight = that never happens!  Watch out world I'm rested today! 

B:  Tea, Apple and Peanut Butter 200

S:  Boiled egg, 3 tiny olives!  75

L:  Fazoli's Kids' Spaghetti with meat sauce 260 (what a deal for $.99 + tax) - I did NOT eat the breadstick!  The pasta was carbs enough.

S:  2 graham crackers, bowl of cereal - I dont know why???  130 + 150 =280

D:  I cup of bean and chicken soup maybe 200

S:  Smoothie 225: 

1340 calories and 4 mile walk with dogs.  I may eat something else - small smoothie, maybe later.......

Glad you got some overdue sleep!! My hubby is the SAME way with his on his back snoring! I've tried sleeping on the sofa to get away from it, but since our bedroom is an open loft, his snoring just carries & with me not in the bed to kick or jab him in an attempt to make him roll over, it doesn't stop!! On those nites, I lye there & think: "When did I become my mother?!" as visions of her stomping down the hall dragging her pillow & blanket run thru my mind!

Great job getting in that much needed sleep! I have to pressure wash my deck at some point too, and i'm not looking forward to it. To me, pressure washing is almost the same as raking ;)

You're right about my shin pain - it is probably good right now because my run was more shock-absorbing than usual. I will be happy when I can start trail running again; right now it's too wet and muddy out there!

Well, I choose machine which is super painful but it only takes about 30 min to complete that piece. My skin is red because the impact of the needle. ehe.. I prefer the traditional way but we are running short of time.

I chose this one because I tend to have a lack of control. For example I can and have eatten 5 slices of pizza. I don't have the book but as far as I read there is nothing mentioned about any fruit allowed until you get to the thrid stage after you lose your weight. The idea is to cut all sugar and carbs from your diet. However, as I have lost yet another pound I am thinking of veering off such a strict diet and allowing myself fresh fruits cause I love them.

Good calories and exercise yesterday - check out my updated entry below.

V busted me - I didn't sleep through the night - husband who has shoulder issue needed to sleep on his back and when he does - he snores.....so he woke me up - but I was able to stay up only a little while and go right back to sleep so feel mostly rested today.  I didn't exercise this morning but I will do at least 45 minutes of some type of exercise tonight.  I am so surprised that I am not very sore at all from all the biking, weeding, painting and pressure washing I did this weekend.  Mostly just the forearm of my right arm and it's not bad.  Doing good on food today so far:

B:  Banana, Tea 100

L:  Tuna salad, boiled egg, raw baby carrots 400

S:  Protein bar with dab of pnb 145

D: Salad with spinach, baby butter mix, red onion, sliced almonds, mandarian oranges, 1/2 boiled egg, 5 croutons and low fat poppy seed dressing  I think probably 400 calories (maybe)

S:  Small strawberry smoothie (no banana)  200   

1345 calories and 4 mile walk with friend and dogs......

Sounds like you got lots of great exercise in over the weekend! We replaced some boards on the deck and stairs last fall but the whole thing needs to be stained now, ugh. You're giving me a boost though, maybe I'll get moving on it this weekend. Have a good one!

Yesterday is updated. 1175 calories and bike ride + all the outside work I did.  Check it out!!!  I may have been a little light on my calorie counting, but even if I added 300 to it - I'm still in my zone.

Was out of the little dishwasher cubes and it was late so didn't wash dishes last night.  Got up at 6:30 after 7.5 hours of almost uninterupted sleeep and went to Wally-World (Walmart Neighborhood Grocery) and picked up some cascade cubes.  Had some breakfast and sitting drinking coffee planning out the day.  No church today.....going praise the Lord from my back yard.  Seriously - I really am!  I think I will paint the bottom of the wrought iron table and pressure wash the front sidewalk and steps and deck.  If I get most of that done I'll be happy.  I still have to catch up the laundry and clean bathrooms and bedroom. 

B:  cereal, 1/2 banana, coffee 375

S:  Mango ?? 100

L:  Tuna salad, cackers, 400

S:  4 toasted marshmellows 200

D:  Cottage Cheese, pineapple, chips (8) Salsa 400

Made wonderful tuna salad for lunch or tomorrow.....I love my tuna salad.....This is with mayo - but subed some yogurt for some of it.  It's good. 

Not sure when I will get a walk or Turbo in.......!!

1475 Calories and Exercise was pressure washing deck for about 4 hours and still not done.  It hasn't been done in YEARS (6??) and is awful.  We are replacing some boards soon and will be treating it with sealer soon.  I don't think we'll get it done by the picnic next Sunday but it will be partly done.  It already looks better - but SO much work!

Sounds like you've got a busy/produtive day ahead of you! Nothing like getting a little sumpin, sumpin done while burning some calories. Speaking of praising the Lord from you back yard - I think that's why I like walking (outdoors) so much. I'm thankfull the entire way for every little thing.... the sun on my face, the cool breezes that blow right when I need 'em, the sweat rolling down my back (signifying progress), the friendly waves & nods from fellow walkers & bikers.... It's times like that, alone in my thoughts that I truly am taking the time to soak it in & appreciate. Hope you enjoy your worship!

For me my master dinner plan begins by simply making a list of what I am going to have for dinner. I have to plan every detail. It's just the simple planning stage you have to make time for. I try to get easy but healthy meals for days when I have to work nights, so that my husband can do these. And for me I use my days off to prepare enough food for work so I don't end up eatting fast food. Have a great day

Hellooo,In answer to your questions the back yard does'nt get any sun apart from half an hour in the morning.That's why i have to power wash the concrete because it get's green as it does'nt dry when it get's wet.Plus at night if Alfie wants a pee pee he uses the yard so therefore it does get done often with disenfectant,I think i will try and get a mango this week,starting to try new foods.I tried chickpeas for the first time today i liked them.Hubby is after a tin to take fishing on saturday,for the bait i reckon.I love tuna mayonaise too and egg mayo.I do get the light version though,and not too much.I will let you know about the weigh-in,don't feel any different.About the george forman,saw your comment on fb :)i did have a 7 portion one but hubby wrecked it as usual by scrubbing it with a rough scourer(i told him to do it with kitchen towel :/ so everything was sticking even spraying it with oil before.I will look after this one,thought it ws good for the price.Don't know if the deal will be the same for you though.It was advertised £29.99 for a 5 portion one here,so a real bargain,bye for now :)

thanks Holly! it's nice being able to wear sleeveless especially when it's 94 degrees in atlanta!! my mom and i did the food - all pick up stuff. we had curried chicken salad in endive cups, caprese skewers, beef teriyaki skewers, bacon-wrapped dates, baked brie with brown sugar and pecans and then some smoked salmon topped fingerling potatoes. The cake was coconut which we ordered from my favorite bakery. Everything was delish - definitely detoxing today!! xoxo

Yesterday  is updated.  1235 Cals and 45 minutes of Turbo Jam in the am and 3 miles walk in the pm (with husband and doggies).

I slept good again through the night about 7 hours almost straight through.  Bigger dog woke me up wanting out.  So was up just a little while.  Today house cleaning and a bike ride and maybe Turbo.  Woo-Hoo! 


Well, what a day!  I rode my bike to the bank, the hardware store, the frozen yogurt store and back.....Then the work began.  We got so much done in the yard today. I bought a pressure washer last year and although I put it together, we didn't get around to using it at all.  So I drug it out, figured out how to hook it up and began washing everything in sight!  First were the little plastic chairs we use when we have cook outs, etc. - 6 of those.  Then the round wrought iron table we keep on the patio and 4 chairs. Then the two dog houses.  THEN the big job - the patio which has not been cleaned in YEARS.  It looks brand new.  In between I spray painted the wrought iron table and chairs (really really dark green-same color they were, but more satin - shiney.  It looks really good.  I started on the bottom of the deck, but ran out of time.  I will be surprised if I can WALK tomorrow.  My forearm is very sore from holding the bike handles, pressing the paint can buttons and pressing the trigger on the pressure washer for so long.  Next will be the deck and we will need to weed and plant a few more flowers and we'll be ready for the big picnic next weekend. I plan to do the front walk and the siding all the way around eventually........  We have Memorial Day cookout for Mark's family - cousins, etc.  It's always a pretty good time.  The cousins (with one exception are all guys and they drink a little too much and end up smoking cigars on the patio and the wifes drive home!  Most live in Cincinnati area.  About 1.5 hours drive from here.

Needless to say, V, I didn't get any Turbo in today!  :o)   

Anyway - it feels really good to have gotten all that done.  We had our old frind Joe over for burgers tonight and I was so hunngry only to find that I actually couldn't eat much.  

B:  Cereal 1/2 banana 300, coffee 75 375

L:  Frozen Orange Leaf Low Fat yogurt - no toppings.....6 oz 300

D:  1/2 sirloin burger, bun, 10 potato crowns w ketchup Mint Choc chip Klondike bar (yup two treats in one day.  Figured I could eat that since I worked SO HARD  500

1175 cals and 12 miles bike ride and ALL THAT WORK!!  Goodnight!!

Yesterday is updated = around 1250 cals and 4 miles of walking - 2 miles in the morning and 2 miles in the evening.

Got up early this a.m. and did Turbo.  I can't believe how good I feel after sleeping from 11:00-6:00 last night!  One Tylenol PM - WOW 7 hours straight through.  I woke up a couple of times to turn over and went RIGHT BACK TO SLEEP.  I am going to try the natural sleep herb Valerian that Umpqua suggested as soon as I get to the store-probably tonight.  On the Turbo Jam I did some of the jumps today.  My left knee is a little sensitive, though. I'll walk tonight or ride bike and we'll see how the weekend unfolds.

I tried on a pair of walking shorts (below knee) that I haven't been able to wear for 2 years - just to see how close I was to being able to wear them) and they FIT!!  There is no room to spare- but they aren't too tight.  They just fit - so I have them on right now - at work! (We have casual Fridays in our office!)   YAY!

Good for you Holly re- the shorts :)sometimes you don't need to weigh yourself as you can tell by your clothes.Those jeans i got into about 2 weeks ago and where tight,i'm hoisting them up now and again:/and rather baggy around the butt.I have been sorting my clothes out and found a pair of jeans 2 sizes smaller than the ones i wear now.I can get them on but can't fasten or get the zip up even when lying on the bed :/I will one day watch this space.Have a great weekend Holly,i'm trying to pack alot of exercise in before weigh-in on monday,ta ta

Around 1425 cals yesterday but no exercise.  Went to bed early.  Got up today and went for 2 mile walk - I am going to try to switch my Turbo Jam to the evenings since neighbor is not doing it most days, anyway - she wanted mornings.  I am a bit worried in that I am so low energy these days.  All days almost.  I think it is because I am not sleeping.  Now, I haven't really slept through the night for decades, but I think it is FINALLY catching up with me.  I don't bounce out of bed like I used to.  As bad as I hate to I think I am going to try 1/2 of an OTC, non-habit forming sleep aid and see if that won't see me through the night.  I can alway fall asleep - I just can't stay asleep more than 2-3 hours at a time.  Can't really deal with this anymore.

B:  Tea and hard boiled egg 65 calories

Lunch with a friend at restaurant that has good salmon.  I think I'll have a salad today, though.  Or soup or something kind of light.......


L:  Salmon (couldn't resist) Lunch portion, tiny bit of rice, green beans, 1/2 portion of slaw 550??

S:  Boiled Egg, Protein Bar , apple 310

D:  1/2 LS turkey sandwich, 3 bites of tomato soup150

S:  10 almonds, strawberries  150

Have you tried Valerian root capsules? I don't use them often but they always help with sleep and don't make me feel drowsy the next morning like TylenolPM, etc. I take 2, I think they're 400 mg each. I can check the dosage if you are interested. I hope you get some quality ZZZs soon!

There are some herbal teas that have valerian root or other natural sleep inducing things in it. I think Tazo makes one. Good luck with getting enough sleep. I think lack of sleep affects so many of us!

We're going to see a band we saw at Jazz Fest, Garage a Trois. They were so good we're going back for more! I just checked and I have 450 mg capsules. I take 2 and they always do the trick, they work within half an hour. I've taken them at bedtime if I'm having trouble falling asleep, and also during the middle of the night if I wake and can't get back out. I wonder if you took them at bedtime if you'd get a longer stretch of sleep? I haven't tried the tea but I actually have valerian growing in my garden and I think it will be big enough to harvest some leaves and try some this summer. Sweet dreams!

I hear ya on lack of sleep. My problem is falling asleep. I toss and turn for hours. The only thing that seems to put me to sleep nowadays is having the flu, lots of wine (dont do this as alcohol prevents you from getting quality sleep), and prescribed painkillers and sleep aids. LOL Im not big on relying on pills for anything, especially sleeping pills. I worry that I may do crazy/dangerous things in my sleep, not hear my children cry, or hear the fire alarm go off. Yea, Im paranoid. Im sure there are pills for that too! :)

Melatonin, valerian root, and sleepytime tea used to work for me before kids came into the picture. I've given up on all those, but I do find the tea helps me relax. My favorite relaxation tea is Yogi Bedtime tea. I love the taste of it!

I have heard meditation breathing in bed helps people fall asleep quickly. I've done it every now and then and it works for me sometimes.

Have you tried Melatonin? It's natural and works great. I sometimes take Unisom but that leaves me with a major sleep hangover the next morning..super groggy..ugh! Definitely give the Melatonin a shot!

I hope you find something to help you sleep. I would suggest the Valerian Root...I've tried Melatonin and it did nothing for me....never tried the valerian but it may work. The sleepy time tea helped to get me to sleep, but not stay asleep. I think it has to do with the body getting adjusted to all the exercise and healthy foods. But I am still up usually around 5 am and I don't even fight it anymore, I just adjusted my schedual to it.
