(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

OK I would update yesterday for calories, But I didn't eat any!  Not for 36 hours to be exact.  So, I have proven that although we say "I'm starving", etc. we really aren't! LOL  Seriously I had to fast for medical reasons.  Medical test today was a big success.  Only minor issues found that require no more intervention than more fibre in diet - I get a good amount most days, but can always be better.

I am making up for yesterday = had Arby Jr. roast beef sandwich and a small milkshake for lunch and a banana and stacy's naked chips and pimento cheese for snack.  Daughter is cooking dinner.  I probably won't be that hungry, but will probably eat chicken breast and vegetables and go back to bed early.

I dont' know how many of you are over 50 or have a family history of colon cancer, but Colon Cancer is the #2 killer in the U.S.  today.  It kills more than Breast Cancer and AIDS combined every year, yet it is one of the most easily identified early and preventable cancers around.  If you are over 50 get a colonoscopy this year!  If  you have a family history  of colon cancer or if you personally have a history of gastro-intestional distress or other digestive disorder get one beginning at age 40.  With new protocol (they put you out totally) going to the dentist for a cleaning is more stressful!  Seriously - and you get a great NAP afterward.

Food today:

Jr ARby's RB, Jamoca milkshake, pita chips and pimento cheese banana.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

~Moody~ on 04/28/2011:
Glad that your medical fast is over and VERY glad that the test went well..Yay!!

thisisit on 04/28/2011:
Excellent news!!! Happy all is ok and all you need is more fiber. :)

moogy on 04/28/2011:
I am 55 but we mostly die of old age in my family or strange infrequently diagnosed cancers, either way I don't really care. I am so glad that you test went well. Bit of trivia for you. A 400lb man lasted for one year without eating (only water and nutrients) before he had to eat. So no, going without food for a couple of days does us no harm at all. I bet you really enjoyed that food when you got it though!!!!!! LOL

thinkpositive on 04/29/2011:
I have colon cancer in my family & do have a checkup every 6 months. Good reminder- & yes it's an easy procedure. Glad it went well for you.

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated and it was 1150 cals with 40 minutes of ET and step.  30 on ET 10 on step.  YAY for exercise.

I won't be posting much food today due to medical test tomorrow I must mostly fast.  Gonna pick up some popsicles and broth so I don't get too weak,  Be glad when Friday rolls around.  More thunderstorms and tornados predicted today.   State of emergency declared, but not in my town.  I feel for those dealing with storm damage and flooding.  It's stressful and life altering, I'm sure.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 04/27/2011:
mmm, broth and popsicles. Enjoy! ;-)

Stay safe today!

thisisit on 04/27/2011:
I want some popsicles. Can I live vicariously though you?

Have a good day today and don't worry about the probing doctors. All will be well.

V on 04/27/2011:
We are expecting the storm tomorrow :( Hopefully they will be a little calmer when they arrive here :) Have a wonderful day Holly! Enjoy your workout!!

h82bfat on 04/27/2011:
Thanks for your advice. I have added lotrimin to my shopping list. I can't believe I never thought of that before! Enjoy your popsicles..... Great, now I want one!! ;c)

YellowDress on 04/27/2011:
I wish you have a safe day and good luck wit the doc:)

moogy on 04/27/2011:
Think of it as a cleansing day!!! You have to find a silver lining!!!! LOL I will be thinking of you and hope your tests go well. I will look forward to hearing how they went. I hope the weather goes around you. Our banana crops got wiped out during the floods we had in Queensland during the summer and they now cost 13 dollars a kilo (2.2 pounds), needless to say we are not buying them until the next crop comes up.!!! Look after yourself and keep safe:)

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated.  No exercise, but I'll be getting on the elliptical trainer in just a few minutes.  YAY.

B:  Pineapple and cantelope about 7 bites each - coffee  250

L:  Roast Beef taco, 10 chips, queso, strawberries 400

D:  Tiara Misu  -If youre not gonna eat for 36 hours may as well end with something really good, right?  500

1150 cals and 40 minutes ET and steps

I am cutting back on food kind of in a natural way.  I am preparing for the medical test on Thursday and tomorrow I cannot eat anything at all except jello, popsicles, clear broth and clear drinks - no blue or red of anything (all the good colors!)  But it's only for a little over 24 hours so it won't be so bad.  I am a little nervous.  Not for what it will show, but I don't like to be touched by doctors, etc.! and I know they will weigh me!  LOL!  I am going to request that they do not tell me my weight at all!  Sometimes they don't cooperate, though and it makes me mad.  That sounds so immature, but it's how I feel. Over all, I'm looking at this as a way to jump start my weight loss streak. Ha!  That's the spirit!   I do feel I've lost a couple pounds in the last week.  Clothes are more pleasing in the mirror, etc. and I'm starting to feel more energy.  I think food makes me sluggish!  (All this is kind of tongue in cheek, guys so don't take me too seriously!!)

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

h82bfat on 04/26/2011:
Hope you're feeling better today!

V on 04/26/2011:
Hope you have a good workout!!!! Sorry you have to deal with "code reds" too, they are NOT fun and emotionally draining :( I am assuming your workplace has alot of women as well???

sweetpea1977 on 04/26/2011:
Yay for the elliptical!

As for your cheesy day yesterday, I guess your body was craving protein after being sick the last few days. I hope you're feeling better today!

loveray on 04/26/2011:
love you - hope your tummy is better!

Congrats on your progress! You're doing well! :-D

thisisit on 04/26/2011:
HAVE LOADS AND LOADS OF POPSICLES!!! I love popsicles. Can you tell? Well, if you can't have blue or red, you can have the fudgsicles. They are brown. No blue or red to be found in them. :)

But, on a more serious note, I hope everything will go well and that you are and will be feeling better soon.

As for the probing doctors...think of Brad Pitt? ;)

Have a great day!

Maria7 on 04/26/2011:
I hope everything comes out good for you on Thursday. Glad you liked the pic. How is the weather over there in KY?

KathyBlue on 04/26/2011:
Good preparation, feeling better anyway?

~Moody~ on 04/26/2011:
Hope all goes well with the test~

Umpqua on 04/26/2011:
I hope everything goes well with the test, and cutting back slowly in preparation sounds like a good idea!

NYC is great, but it's so close we can go there for day trips. In fact, hubby and I were just saying the boys are old enough to go in soon and visit one of the museums and check out the skyscrapers and park, I think they'll love it. I absolutely LOVE New Orleans, it might be my favorite city on earth. It's got such an old vibe and great energy to it, if we can ever afford a timeshare or another house I think it would be there. This is only a 3-night trip with no car, so we won't make it out of the French Quarter/Marigny except when we take the bus to the Fest. I've been to a few Fests and have also traveled there for longer stretches, we've even camped in St. Bernard Parish and out in Slidell. And I've done the Jean Lafitte state park a few times too, the bayou is so cool! For me it's all about the food, the music and the wonderful architecture (and especially the hidden courtyards and tropical flowers I can't grow up North). Can you tell I'm excited?? ;)

YellowDress on 04/26/2011:
Thanks for your comments. I've just learned how to reply comments:) Last days,i learned that pineapple is a perfect choice to start a day.Try to find one,but i know it's impossible for now :)

greengirl on 04/26/2011:
Hope things go well with the medical tests. I can sympathise with not liking to be touched by medics. I feel like I was used as a pincusion by the medical profession in the last few weeks !!! When they weighed me it was in Kilos so I didnt really understand it anyway :-)

moogy on 04/26/2011:
Is tougue in cheek really the term you want to use at the moment???? I am sure all will go well and missing food for one day does more good than harm. I know what you mean about food making you sluggish, I find if I eat refined carbs I always feel sleepy. Vegies makes me feel energetic. I wonder if there is anything to that thing about eating living food being better for you?

V on 04/26/2011:
LOL!!! I feel ya Holly ;)

Yesterday is updated.  I had a high cal day, no exercise, but that's OK This begins another week.  I wish my stomach malady would go away.  It's better but still hanging around, that's not really a good thing this week in particular as I must have a medical test on Thursday mornigng that involves the digestive tract - :o.  I'll be glad when that's over.

B:  Two pieces of toast with jam  275

L:  pimento cheese with a few corn chips, grapes  400

D:  Wasn't really hungry.  Ate some chips and queso - seems like its been a cheesy day.  I don't typically eat much cheese.  I do like homemade pimento cheese, with crackers, though.  I ate some strawberries and had a little bit of taco bites (2 bites).  Maybe 300 calories

975 Calories - no exercise except walking all over Sam's Club and standing to do kitchen cleaning for about 1 1/2 hours.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated.  Had an upset stomach last night, so no dinner and went to bed early.  I am glad I got the ET exercise in before my stomach upset.  I am up at 4 a,m, with yet another thunderstorm and just ate bread and stomach still does not feel all that well.  Yikes.  Hope it gets better before church.......at least no tornado warnings tonight!

For Easter dinner we are going out to eat with my parents.  I should be able to keep it under control.  I plan on ordering salmon and maybe splitting a dessert.

B:  Toast, jam, coffee 375

S:  Very small gfeen smoothie  150 Thinking this will stop me from being total starved by 3:00 dinner at restaurant (Sal's - mixed menu - I plan on the salmon still)

D:  Salmon (1/2 portion) a big wedge salad with ranch dressing, one roll and creme brulee for dessert - the whole thing.  Big dinner - no more food for the day!  Very full.  I'd say this was probably a 1250 cal meal.  Plus one gin and tonic = 150 = 1400 meal

So about 1925 for the day - whew!  Starting all over tomorrow......I did enjoy it, though and I'm not upset about it.  Especially the gin and tonic  ;o)

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 04/24/2011:
Thanks Holly :) I felt instantly better after reading your comment. Treat is OK, but I still have the thing of "going back for the second, third," etc... you know. A small piece does no harm, but when three big pieces go down with ease along the day, it's frustrating. Well, the scale doesn't show any difference, so maybe if I stay within NORMAL values today, I still have the chance to make it up to my consciousness and mental well-being... Sorry about your stomach.. :-( I hope you get better soon!

loveray on 04/24/2011:
hope you are feeling better and hope that you finally get some sleep!! we had a string of tornadic weather for about a week last month and i didnt get any rest. the storms have been so violent recently. happy easter!! xo

greengirl on 04/24/2011:
Hey Holly, the royal wedding is big in the news here as you can imagine. The problem is here people still remember Diana fondly, and know how it ended up for her :-( William is so like her too, so it reminds people of how things were for her, and so we wonder if poor Kate Middleton will survive the royal family !! People also wonder if this wedding was announced just to distract us from the recession and the cutbacks that the new coalition government have introduced. Having said that my sister is having a wedding party for the ladies of our family so we will all be together to watch the happy event. A big plus is the fact that it has been decreed that the wedding day is a bank holiday which of course means we all get an extra day off work and I'm all for that :-)

mcwoo40 on 04/24/2011:
Hiya Holly,we had a few rumblings of thunder and it rained after a glorious day, normally around july.I too had an upset tummy, was out and it came on all of a sudden then felt guggly afterwards not eaten anything out of the ordinary.Enjoy the salmon, not a lover of fish really like smoked haddock no bones :/ and thats it.Have a good day feel better soon :)

Yesterday is updated.  1050 cals and 3 mile walk.

Today will be challenging.  I am going to Keeneland race track for lunch and there will be a fabulous buffet.  I have done this before and I will watch portions and only eat the stuff I really love!  I will not have dessert.....repeat.....repeat.....repeat!  LOL -I feel like I am beginning to make progress so I want to keep it up.

B:  2 ww lf waffles 140 + jam 100 1/2 banana 50 =290

L:  Not as low cal as I planned :o(  but not terrible.  I had 1/2 a bourbon bread pudding and it was worth it,  Only place I know of that serves this recipe  I'd say about 1200 calories for the whole meal-not just the desseet

So 1500 so far and I'm not hungry tonight.

D:  1/2 pimento cheese sandwich 200

1700 cals no exercise.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 04/21/2011:
yeah, bloody desserts :( 1050 kcals is very low, be careful not to arrive to the race track too hungry...

h82bfat on 04/21/2011:
I LOVE buffett's (that about says it all, doesn't it?)!! I know you'll be able to stay away from those dessert concoctions! Have fruit - 'tis the season, so they should all be at their tastiest (is that even a word...)! I had some perfectly ripe strawberries yesterday - beats a piece of "whatever" any day!! ;c)

V on 04/21/2011:

Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated.  1495 cals and a 2 mile walk with friend and dogs.  Would have walked more, but 78 degree weather at 6:30 made big dog hot and very slow and my friend was afraid it was going to rain = which it didn't.

I must step up my workouts if I am going to see the loss I want to.  I have to find my way through this.

Time for the second cup of coffee and to read my daily "girlfriends" devotional.  I love my new computer.

We had bad thunder storms last night and tornado warnings.  It wasn't bad where I was, though.  I don't get as nervous anymore like I did for quite awhile after the "tree incident".  Some of you may recall that a very large 75 foot tree FELL on my house 3 years ago in June.  It was a mess, but I basically got a remodeled master bathroom and some other updating (light fixtures) from it.   LOL.  I don't recommend that route to remodeling, though.

Work stress is making me cling to my rock-my Lord.  Father, help me today only to glorify you.  Amen.

B:  3 bites LF Cottage Cheese, 2 bites fruit salad, coffee,   200

L:  Qdoba steet tacos - lean pork without the extra tortillas - no beans 350  (?)

D:  Ham sndwich 200caS:  Cereal 1/2 banana 300

1050 cals & 3 mile walk

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

V on 04/20/2011:
I am hoping that your day goes well and you get a good workout in!!! Love Ya!!

KathyBlue on 04/20/2011:
You're right about the magic # ... although I recognize that when I'm at work, doing something I'm not really willing to, I tend to find escape in comfort foods which is terrible... It have been worse though, I remember myself, like 2 years ago, going downstairs supermarket and getting a full 6-pack ice-cream and devouring it all out of pure anxiety ... Lots of overtime, dealing with people, computers, etc... a big challenge. We ate 2,2lbs of cookies in a single day with ease... and on the other hand, when I'm outside (exercising, vacations, with friends, etc.), not thinking about food, I am able to lose weight without much effort.

loveray on 04/20/2011:
yippee happy new computer day to you!! i hear we are going to get some of those storms coming through today as well...ugh.

Umpqua on 04/20/2011:
Wow, I don't think I was very active on the DD when you had the tree incident! I'm glad your area wasn't affected too much this time, scary.

RE the exercise I'm finding that the more I do it and the deeper I work, the more I want to do it. The warmer weather here is really giving me a boost too, getting outdoors and catching a few rays on occasion really gives me a nudge. Great job with the calories and I know you'll find a good way to step up the exercise too!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday is updated 1806 calories - see details on yesterday's post.  No exercise due to knee problem.  BUT good news is knee is MUCH better already today and today is another day for the calories.  Also it's a big deal for me to post these high calories on here - I usually don't count after I know I've gone over 1600 max!

Thanks - everyone - for the kind thoughts and comments for my dad.  He can't be "cured" at this point without devine intervention, and that IS always possible, but if this chemo drug can give him more quality time, then I am thankful for that.  I hold my emotions in - for the sake of those around me (Mom, daughter, husband, even Dad, himself) but when we found out the drugs are working yesterday I cried in relief.

Today so far:

B:  Coffee  75, 3 T (dry) Oatmeal with a little cinnamon and sugar.....125 = 200

L:  ham sandwich and fruit salad    350

D:  Chips and guacamole = 480  :0)

S:  1 slice low sodium turkey 65

S:  6 Marshmellows 150

1245 cals and 2 mile walk

So far so good - I won't blow it today.  I will work out night on ET  -did yu see that I WILL  Work stress is high, but I am hopeful and keep reminding myself I am good at my job!  LOL!

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

I'm so glad to hear the news of your dad, and hope the chemo continues to do its job. It's tough to be the strong one, so I hope you do something to take good care of yourself.

I'm glad that your knee is feeling better. Yea, I have gone through family members having cancer and sometimes even just a better quality of life is a gift. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
