S:  2 pnb balls!   200

1135 cals - no exercise due to resting knee (STILL)!!

V on 12/08/2010:
Well that is a good sign indeed!!

panda22 on 12/08/2010:
Have a great day!

just42day on 12/08/2010:
Thanks so much for your thoughtful entry. Mom has improved and probably will be released tomorrow. I plan on going up tomorrow for a few days. The PT job does seem to be very understanding so I'm very grateful for that. Thanks again for your sweet entry. :)

selina on 12/08/2010:
Thanks, Holly. Take care of your knee!

skinnygrlwithin on 12/08/2010:
Thank you for your comment... I know my lack of dedication is not the end of the world, but I do always find myself feeling like I owe you lovely ladies more than that... I'm also very happy with my decision not to let people influence me, because ever since then I've had a positive attitude, a smile on my face, and the most amazing times with Ross... I'm glad to see your knee is doing ok..

moogy on 12/08/2010:
Hang in their holly, slowly slowly, you are probably itching to get going and feeling a bit fed up with yourself. If you push yourself you know you will end up sitting on your tush for a couple of weeks. Have a good day despite the restriction.

nita51 on 12/08/2010:
Thanks for comment to BF, We do weekends together, so he'll be replying to your comment this weekend. Thanks again for helping him. Love you

V on 12/08/2010:
Sorry for just getting around to comment in re of what you posted on my page..Right now i am sure she is overwhelmed with visitors and talking and all the sorrow that is surrounding her and I will give it a week or two and take her out to lunch/coffee/dinner :) Thank you for your kind thoughts and advice :)

panda22 on 12/08/2010:
LOL @ your comment!!! Trust me if he does find out and I don't ALL bets will be on when he spills the beans! lol my family is already pressuring us because they want to know. Originally we were going to find out and tell everyone on Christmas as a nice gift but they went under the table and told my husband that they would be calling him to get it out of him....they couldn't even wait 5 days!!! Anyway, I'm sure even if I don't find out with my husband that I will end up knowing before I go into labor haha

Maria7 on 12/09/2010:
Yes, give your knee time to heal and then try to take it easy when getting back into the workout. Be gentle with yourself. Hope you have a wonderful day! :-)

Updated yesterday - 1225 Cals - didn't go to ZUMBA - want to really rest my knee.  I may go tonight-just playing it by ear.  I really love it but don't want to set myself back with the knee thing.

Didn't eat breakfast - have a big lunch today.  Professional Assoc meeting and there will be Turkey and Dressing, etc.  My plan is to keep it reasonable and eat only the things I like in moderation.

B:  Coffee  75

L:  Was not much of a challenge since we didn't have Turkey and Dressing, etc.  Had chicken with pasta instead.  I ate one roll with butter (their rolls are great) and the chicken ONLY - I really didn't like anything else they served.  They had pumpkin pie and I only like mine.....:o)  So.......I'd say I have a calorie reserve for tonight!!  Lunch = estimated 300 - maybe...

S:  20 Spice drops (jelly candies)  100

D:  Cinnamon toast and 3 bites meatloaf, 1 carrot  - I know, wierd - it just happened that way......made the meatloaf for Wed night. 400???

Total cals - 875 - I needed a really low day if it felt natural and I wasn't hungry.  No exercise due to knee, again......

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 11.6 lbs to go!

loveray on 12/07/2010:
it's wise of you to rest the knee. a lot of times, a small tear can take up to 2 weeks to really get healed enough to do heavy exercise. as my yoga instructor told me, the rest is worth the pain you miss in the long run:) i hope your lunch goes well, enjoy!!

liza36 on 12/07/2010:
Glad you are being wise and playing it by ear. Enjoy the lunch! It's a good strategy to eat in moderation the things you don't get to eat regularly during the year. Have a good day.

just42day on 12/07/2010:
Yep, rest your knee. Definitely makes sense. Enjoy your t'sgiving like meal today. Moderation is key and I'm cheering for you! (I am challenged by moderation w/foods I really enjoy but I know you can do it!)

KathyBlue on 12/07/2010:
Holly, send me your address through FB again, pleeease. I'm joining them now in a file, and will send out the Xmas cards this week, yeeeah :) I'm not too organized right now, lol.

legcramps on 12/07/2010:
I hope that knee heals soon; it's no fun wanting to exercise and not being able to! Take care!!!

V on 12/07/2010:
I am sure you will do just fine Holly as for your knee, I am hoping that you will be Zumbaing soon!!! Have a good one!

moogy on 12/07/2010:
You are being sensible which is a hard pill to swallow when you feel as if your body should repair itself more quickly. I am afraid that the older we get the easier we damage ourselves and the longer it takes to heal. Chin up sweetheart, you will soon be shaking that booty!!

Maria7 on 12/08/2010:
Wow, you did real well! Hope your knee is very soon better!

Motivational Monday

Inspiring Quote:  Expect the Best!  (my personal philosophy)

Didn't update Saturday or post on Sunday, but not because I didn't do OK.  I just didn't keep up with everything #s wise.  I really did OK.  Although I ate 2 pieces of candy both days....over all probably under 1800 cals each day.

I walked about an hour and a half in the SNOW on Saturday and although my knee did hurt toward the end it felt more stable on Sunday than it had in a week.  It is still "OK" today.  I will wait to see if it still feels OK at the end of the day and decide if I'm going to do GENTLE ZUMBA tonight.  I Do NOT want a set-back - I've come too far.  I'd rather just take it easy a few more days.......

B:  Coffee, cinnamon toast  275

L:  Turkey Soup, 1/2  PBJ  350

S:  Tootsie Roll 100

D:  1/2 sm order Chick Pad Thai  500

1225 Cals - didn't go to ZUMBA - want to really rest my knee.

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 11.6 lbs to go!

just42day on 12/06/2010:
Great quote. Walking 1.5 hours in snow is amazing! Great workout and wonderful scenery no doubt. Have a good day! :0)

V on 12/06/2010:
Aww what a really refreshing story :)

selina on 12/06/2010:
aww... you have snow and I'm envious of you, haha! Great job on walking. I have friends who love social dancing and are very fun loving people - enjoy! My personal phylosophy is " do your best but keep expectations low". This is the way to be mostly always happy with the results of no matter what. It's exactly the opposite of your philosophy, but it works for me! Have a great day!

Maria7 on 12/06/2010:
Did you take piano lessons? I am blessed to be my church's pianist, which I thank the Lord for.

I see that you still have snow...y'all must have got a lot. Bet it is real pretty! :-) Hope you have a nice, warm day. :-)

Maria7 on 12/06/2010:
My Mom taught me to play 'by ear' after she bought me a piano when I was young (I'd always had the desire to learn and know how to play the piano, even as a little child) and then she sent me to piano lessons after school where I learned to read music and play the piano reading music after that. So, I play both ways. But I enjoy playing 'by ear' the most. Playing the piano is a gift from the Lord and I really treasure it and and am thankful that He allows me to play the piano in His House. :-)

Bikiniwax85 on 12/06/2010:
I wonder how does it feel walking on snow.. Erm.. Time to visit my best friend in Alaska! Thank you so much for your comment that is so nice. At least I know I am not the only one that feels that way all the time. Take care darling :)

KathyBlue on 12/06/2010:
gentle zumba? :) Does that exist? hehehe... I love your personal quote, I'm going to give it a try in my everyday life!

Umpqua on 12/06/2010:
Take it easy tonight if you decide to Zumba. Hope you have a great day!

liza36 on 12/06/2010:
I'm with KathyBlue - is there such a thing as gentle zumba? Take it easy, I know you'll listen to your body and what feels comfortable. Have a good one.

OpenMyWings on 12/06/2010:
Taking it easy for a few more days sounds better for your knee than to push it. You can always to gentle stretching exercises for your legs that can help :)

moogy on 12/06/2010:
Can you do 'gentle' Zumba, don't hurt yourself or there will be no Zumba gentle or not. Well done with the walking though.:)

just42day on 12/06/2010:
Thanks for the suggestion re: back peddling! I really appreciate it!

Updated  yesterday's entry.  My knee does not hurt and visible swelling has gone away for the most part, however, when I bend it all the way back the kneecap area sticks out just a little bit on the outside and it kind of feels like it is pulling.  I think this may be because it still has fluid under the kneecap, but am not sure.  Going to rest it except for a walk today and tomorrow and try ZUMBA Monday if it is still OK.

We have lots of prettty fluffy snow.  About 3 inches.  going to take the dogs for a walk in it in the park!  Love it.  It isn't windy and it's not that cold.

B:  2 Bacon - 1 egg, 1 toast with honey, coffee - YUM 400

moogy on 12/04/2010:
I hope that you have wrapped your knee with elastic bandage to give it some support and speed up the healing. Have a good walk, but take it easy. sweetie.:)

Maria7 on 12/04/2010:
You've got snow...how exciting! Do you know if Corbin (Cumberland Falls State Park Resort) got any snow, too?

My knee is BETTER!  So much BETTER!  I still cannot bend it completely, but almost!  The swelling is greatly reduced.  I am going to take it easy - maybe even through the weekend.  I really think it was what is called "over-use" injury.  With latin dance there is alot of stress on the knees with the circular motion of the hips and legs and I think my 50-something year old knees were just "surprised"!  More later.

B:  PBJ and coffee 300

L:  Arby's Junior RB sandwich & Cherry turnover!  What was I thinking.  I gotta watch it!  Think this was a little stress eating over knee, work and a couple of other issues - won't help.  I AM IN CONTROL not food!

Thanks for all the good wishes for knee - I will be dancing to "Hotel/Motel/Holiday Inn" by the weekend, maybe!!

S:  Cheese and crackers 150

D:  Slaw, corn, 1 corn stick with tiny bit butter 350

S:  kashi bar, milk, 2 clementines 410

1660 a bit over - but not bad!  No exercise due to knee!

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 11.6 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 12/02/2010:
Good news! I know my knees couldn't handle that kind of impact. I'm hoping they will hold out for me for skiing this year. Have a good one!

sweetpea1977 on 12/02/2010:
Yay for a happier knee!! :)

V on 12/02/2010:
Yayyyyy! You will be back at it in no time flat!

sweetpea1977 on 12/02/2010:
lol, I have a couple closets that need some serious cleaning too. I'll get to it all eventually!

I posted the pumpkin-cranberry bread recipe in the forum, so let me know if you try it. Its so very moist and makes a great breakfast treat to go with coffee. :)

liza36 on 12/02/2010:
Still take it easy, but that's great news about your knee! I love latin dancing, although I don't really do it. Love the music too. Hope you can get back to it, once you've healed of course. Have a great day.

loveray on 12/02/2010:
glad your knee is better!! just takes some rest. i remember being so mad when i pulled my knee during yoga teacher training because i couldnt do anything!! ughhh. hope all is well xoxo

getmebackto150 on 12/02/2010:
glad to hear your knee is feeling better!!!

moogy on 12/02/2010:
That is good news, yes, you are right, it seems to take forever for us older girls to repair. You are in control of what goes into your mouth. Well done.

Maria7 on 12/02/2010:
Before Hubby and I left on vacation in October, I tripped and fell comming back from my mail box and later realized I'd injured my right knee...now when I squat down, sometimes there is pain if I'm not careful...guess I'm writing this to say it sometimes takes longer than we like for injuries to heal...hang in there...sounds like you ARE definitely getting better...just try to take things slow and easy! :-)

Didnt overeat yesterday - no time to post menu from yesterday, though.  All the candy is out of the house - thank goodness.  When home at lunchtime to keep leg up.  Worked from home rest of the day.  Knee is somewhat better, but still very swollen.  I am just floored that this happened without any obvious incident that I can remember to cause it.  I miss ZUMBA   :o(    !!!

Snow here today - just flurries, but it's pretty.  Not too windy, not too cold.

B:  Bagel Thin with lite cream cheese, coffee  225

L:  Big Salad with lettuces, celery, onion, carrots and crispy wontons and Gerard's Champagne Dressing  300

S:  Peanut M & Ms - succumbed to the vending machine while I waited for my car' mirror to be replaced - you guys at the retreat will remember that it was broken way back then.  Well they had to replace it two times because they broke it again when installing the replacement mirror - and then I took a long time to make an appointment to have it re-done! So no more Beverly Hillbillies mirrors on my vehicle!

D:  Chicken Thigh - baked, few green beans, couple of roasted potato wedges and carrots, corn muffin 550

1275 total cals.  No exercise bc of knee but it's better!

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 11.6 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 12/01/2010:
:( So sorry!

Be sure to do lots of epsom salt baths to help alleviate the swelling. I hope it gets better soon!

tangalyn on 12/01/2010:
hope u get all better soon! try to have a good day.

Umpqua on 12/01/2010:
Sorry your knee is still hurting. Have you tried arnica oil or cream? I have rheumatoid arthritis and rubbing some on my knees and fingers (2 worst spots for me) really does help. I also take black cherry extract capsules when the pain really gets to me. </end Umpqua's token kooky herbal recommendations> :) Have a good one!

Maria7 on 12/01/2010:
Oh, I can just imagine the snow flurries over there in KY...bet they ARE SO PRETTY! :-D Enjoy watching them!

:o(     Sad Face

My knee is swollen and hurts!  I couldn't do ZUMBA last night.  I guess I overdid it with all that Cuban Motion!

Eating is OK - about 1600 cals yesterday.  No exercise, though!  So much for the roll I was on.  Just goes to show - all things in moderation.  Am hoping to be back to Zumba by next week!

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 11.6 lbs to go!

Oh wow, sorry about your knee!! I hope you it recovers soon so you can get back into your groove.

V on 11/30/2010:
There there Holly! The efforts you have put forth are commendable! Every now and then a player gets sidelined with an injury, but that has nothing to do with her drive and determination...get better fast and don't over do it your next go round!

OpenMyWings on 11/30/2010:
Soak your knee with lukewarm water with epsom salts in it. Then elevate it and ice it and take some IBprofin. That should help :)

moogy on 11/30/2010:
My husband used to say that the day he saw a jogger smiling was the day he would take it up. I throw that in to help you feel better about not being able to do your exercise until next week.
