(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 168.2

Once again I have not posted all weekend.....I have kept in good calorie range, though.  So far not much exercise.  I am feeling a bit tired.  I did not get to ride bike Friday as it RAINED.  Rained most of the day yesterday, but I did do the ET for 40 minutes.  I have poison ivy on my face - probably from the dogs as I have been scrubbing with TECHNU whenever I MAY have been exposed and I tend to hug them with my face and arms!  Went to The Little Clinic aka doc in a box at the grocery store and got a prescription for steroids and my flu shot.  So I will heal fast!

More later.

B:  2 biscuits and jam - tea 300

L:  10 small bean and cheese nachos,  cantelope  360

making oriental slaw and will have chicken for dinner.......

Have a lovely Sunday night all!

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

V on 09/12/2010:
What is oriental slaw??? sounds interesting, I hope that you are not too itchy :(

KathyBlue on 09/12/2010:
looks like it rains everywhere, doesn't matter which continent we're on! :(

moogy on 09/12/2010:
I am glad that you will be feeling better soon. You are doing well with your menu's. Keep up the good work.

Maria7 on 09/13/2010:
I've been debating on WHETHER to get a flu shot this year or not...I've been getting one EVERY YEAR for MANY YEARS, but this past time, I felt it may have made or contributed to making me sick. Don't know for sure, though. Maybe not...???

As for the scuppernong grapes, DARE I say I've gotten my share of them 'almost' for this year??? (Don't want to make myself mad if I re-read this later and can't get any of them and am CRAVING them! :-D) So...I got ONE MORE BATCH and they are in the fridge (love them cold the most but also love them regardless!)

You have a right to feel a little tired after all the miles you've been pedaling. Just take a day or two (or an hour) to rest! :-)

As for the poison ivy...ICK! Hope you are soon well of that!!! :-)

Maria7 on 09/14/2010:
I called the health department this morning and they are not giving shots yet (said check back end of the month). I could get one at my doctor but for some very STRANGE reason, every time I get one there, I have negative symptoms from the flu shot...???? But never from the health department. I could do and experiment and just go to the local Walgreens, I suppose...??? Still debating on 'whether' to even get one or not this year....

Hope you're having a real nice day. I enjoy reading your updates! :-) (hint-hint)

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 168.2

Yesterday was updated.  Calories were OK, but I totally ate sweets last night.  Made the mistake of stopping in the European Bakery for one powder puff - and wound up eating one of those and a fruit tart.  It could have been worse - then I went home and ate Trail Mix!  All in all the total cals were OK and I did walk just a little bit.  Love the treats though and now that is out of my syustem (I hope!).  I have walked last two nights with husband, but I am discovering something...he does more sociallizing with the other dog owners in the park than walking some nights!  If it doesn't rain at 4:00 today I am planning to go to new paved trail to bike with a freind.  The bikes are already loaded on the vehicle and ready to go!

B:  Tea, sm apple = 60

L:  Trail Mix 300 and a couple bites of stew  85 (?) = 385

Subtotal = 445 - very good so far!

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

just42day on 09/10/2010:
Have a great bike ride! RE: your husband's chattiness w/other dog owners. Maybe you can steal one of the dog's muzzles and.... just a thought :)

getmebackto150 on 09/10/2010:
sometimes you just have to get the treats/cravings out of your system... Kudos to you for doing it but still staying at a reasonable calorie level... Have a great bike ride!!!

Umpqua on 09/10/2010:
You have a European Bakery nearby? I'd be in big trouble! I hope you have a great bike ride today.

Enjoy your bike ride this evening!

moogy on 09/10/2010:
No Project Runway for me, if it was it would be Project Runway Australia anyway!! I am glad I don't have a good bakery within walking distance. I hope you get to ride, enjoy your day.

balloonlady on 09/10/2010:
bakeries are such a weakness, I love it all! I am trying to eliminate all flour, I had no clue how tricky this was..... Have a great weekend...

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 168.2

Updated yesterday - ended with 1300 calories.  This seems to be about where I must stick in order to not feel deprived and if I'm lucky that satisfies me.  Exercise was great - 45 min biking and 45 min walking.  I was beat by the time I got back from walking.  Ussually that wouldn't not have been the case, but feeling tired in the first place yesterday - think it's allergies - not a cold and it will pass......

B:  Tea - forgot to eat anything or bring anything else to work - Oh, oh might have to make pretzels and pnb my breakfast!!

L:  1 Corn on the cob, 100 ?, slaw 150 ? 4 slices Fried Green Tomatoes  150  400

D:  Powder Puff 300, Fruit Tart 300, Trail mix 300 = 900 YUP!

Total Calories - 1300, Exercise 45 minute walking

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

just42day on 09/09/2010:
Great job with your exercise! Hope your allergies lessen soon. I've heard it's a really bad time for allergies right now. Have a great day! :)

Great job on the exercise!

moogy on 09/09/2010:
If you can still to around that number of calories you will lose weight nice and regularly. Good job with the exercise.

How is the coffee detox going? Good job on the exercise!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 168.2

Ended yesterday (see updated posting) with 1260 calories.  Didn't exercise as was very tired.  Both husband and I feel like we may be getting colds-I am thinking allergy most likely.  Rinsing with the nettie pot thing.  That seemed to help last time!  Fingers crossed.

B:  1/2 banana so far and Tea.  50

I am switching to tea as it is more pure than the coffee I drink with all the stuff I put in it (Truvia and FF half and half and FF Vanilla Creamer!).  I can drink tea ALMOST plain-just a little truvia or agave syrup or honey).  I have done this before and it seems to help.

More later........

S:  very Small Apple 50

L:  Sm Ceasar Salad, chicken with some kind of sauce - 1/2 slice of bread no butter - didn't eat the pasta at all.  No dessert - went to a networking event where I was served a pre-ordered lunch - could have been worse  450

S:  1/2 bag home-made trail mix - very low fat and low cal....150

700 - It's funny - no matter what I see to end up with about 700 cals at at his time of day.  That must be the amount I need to run on......

S:   the other 1/2 bag of trail mix  150

D:  1/2 C Baked Beans  200  Smoothie  250

1300 Calories  EXERCISE - Bike 45 minutes, Walking 45 minutes

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 09/08/2010:
I like to drink my tea plain too, but I put stevia and creamer in my coffee. I don't think I could switch out in the morning though, I'm definitely addicted to coffee. I hope it works out for you!

tangalyn on 09/08/2010:
im gettin a cold too :( hope u n ur husband feel better soon, have a great day!!!

loveray on 09/08/2010:
i have switched to black tea for this past week for the same reasons, and it seems to be working very well! good luck and have a wonderful day! xo

V on 09/08/2010:
Like umpqua I am SO addicted to coffee and I have already given up alot of bad habits but this one is a tough one to shake! Good luck and I hope you can combat this cold before it gets out of control!

sweetpea1977 on 09/08/2010:
Sorry to hear you are getting sick. I love my neti pot. Im sure I'll be depending on it this winter when I catch a cold. Pregnant folks don't have many safe OTC meds to choose from so the neti pot will be my best friend then, lol.

Hope you get to feeling better!

loveray on 09/08/2010:
would you share your trail mix recipe when you have a free moment? its one of my favorite things, but its always so bad for you at the store...

moogy on 09/08/2010:
I am beginning to think that maybe we are passing germs to each other on this site.LOL. I hope you can fight it off, if you don't look after yourself and take it easy.

Hope your cold doesn't stick. My lil one is catching a cold too :( I'm assuming that was from school. Have a wonderful day

"Too low they build, who build beneath the stars." - Edward Young

I'm back!  Took the whole long weekend off of counting - but I'm happy to report that except for sunday I stayed within calorie limites and exercised like crazy (which I am quite happy about).  Sunday had family cookout at cousin's house in northern KY and just didn't want to deny myself some of the delicious stuff there.  But even on Sunday I didn't go nuts on the food.  The only thing I would say I went overboard on was chocolates - I really kind of went over the edge on them - had about 5-6 pieces made up of Hersey Treasures and Dove milk choc Bliss.  That's not bad, but on top of everything else....you get the picture.  But it's over and I'm raring to go again.  Today is hot weather again and I hope to get to ride bike after dinner tonight.  I may have found a new bike riding friend and found out there is a new paved trail - 8 miles out and 8 (of course) back so total of 16 miles on the North side of town......excited about taking bike out there.  I had a flat tire this weekend and husband showed me how to fix it.  I feel so smart!

B:  Coffee (I don't like to skip, but......) 50

L:  Roll w/butter 1/2 baked potato with sour cream and green and wax beans (this at a professional assoc luncheon and I skipped the FRIED chicken and the CHOC CAKE!!! Estimate intake of 425??

Drinking water now - husband wants to grill tonight.  Pork chops will keep it reasonable.

S:  Home-made trail mix 200

D:  Few bites of fried potatos, few bites of pork chop 200

S:  25 M & Ms - can't believe I ate these, but.....at least I counted them and there were only 25 .  Looked up cals in 1 m & m = 3.44 cals per "m"  so that's 86 cals

S:  Really late Cereal and 1/2 banana  300

Total for the day 1260 Right in the ZONE

No exercise, though.  I was too tired.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

V on 09/07/2010:
You will do well, you always do! Have a great evening Holly

Thanks for the advice re: blisters... I do wear smart wool socks when I hike... I also swear by them! Not sure if they make any short, thin ones for running? I will have to work... I also think I'm going to stop at the drug store and get some blister pads today after work!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”  Marianne Williamson

Love this quote.  It was pasted on FB by my 19 year old daughter. I can only hope that she is beginning to understand what the author is saying.  Read it.  Really think about it - meditate on it.  It's not a bible verse - but it is bible inspried.  Further, I believe it hits home - on the button - of what holds so many of us back - INCLUDING myself.  I am committing to contemplating on these words and furthering my discovery of  how I can overcome my fear of my own power/light (God in me).

Yesterday is updated.

B:  Apple, 1/2 cookie, coffee  240

S:  Pretzels and PNB 220

L:  Beef stew  250

SubTotal Cals = 710

Shine
Make 'em wonder what you've got
Make 'em wish that they were not
On the outside looking bored
Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let'em see good works, and then
Let 'em glorify the Lord

UPDATE:

Did OK at the potluck at church.  Could have been worse - I had one choc chip cookie and a bit of alot of things - I esitmate really close to 575 cals for the meal then had a granola bar for 90 cals later at home - not sure why I ate that, but...... so total of 665 for the night.  No exercise - was so tired.  I did walk about 1/2 mile at lunch with friend.  She is not an exerciser at all and the walks are for her more than me, so......

About 1375 cals and only the very short walk.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

Hi guys!  I didn't get on all weekend - was so busy and it takes me too long to log on at home.  Will just recap by saying I did OK this weekend.  Lots of walking and a good long  bike ride.  Eating was OK - endulged just a little.  Plan to make eating really healthy this week as have big cookout/get together on Sunday on the River with fireworks, etc for the long Holiday Weekend.

B:  Coffee 75 apple 65  = 140

L:  Salad 400

S:  Protein bar 110

D:  5 triscuit things, a little bit of beef stew 400?

Pretty low cal day - 1050

One hour walk with dogs and neighbor

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 08/30/2010:
ahhh take me with you, I'd love to ride the bike again ...!

KathyBlue on 08/30/2010:
thing is, when I moved from Hungary to Portugal, I knew that some things would change.. never thought it would be different with sports though. Happens that I live in a bad neighborhood and I cannot ride the bike there. I would need to take a train to somewhere far away, with the bike which I don't have, because we live on the 3rd floor without an elevator and there's no garage or anything similar. We don't have a car either so we cannot just pack up the bikes and get ourselves a calm zone to ride. Too bad. I used to live in a good city in Hungary, where most of the ppl rode bikes instead of cars. Like in England or Netherlands. Or the US!

Here in Lisbon (city of seven hills) drivers are crazy, traffic is chaotic and there are no cycle paths to which I got so used to in Hungary... Adopt. :(

just42day on 08/30/2010:
Sounds like you had a grand weekend. Good for you - we all need those! Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I'll take each and every .5 lbs loss I can get my hands on. :)

moogy on 08/30/2010:
Well it was good that you stayed more or less on track and got lots of good exercise in - I am sure that will have made up for any little treats. Yes, it will have to be a really good week with that great celebration on Sunday, you won't want to think about a diet for that. If you a particularly good all week I am sure you will have space for a party!!! Have a good day.
