Yesterday is updated.  Was an OK day.  I didn't do any exercise.  Frankly I procrastinated the night away.  Will do something tonight. 

I am really not very hungry this a.m.  Probably because I ate late last night - cereal.  I was hungry THEN.  I have been trying to stop long enough to determine if I am hungry or not before I eat and how hungry am I, etc.  Mindfulness.  

B:  Coffee,  banana  175    

and I have a goal to work toward - on Sat September 18 some friends of ours are having a party with a band and everything.  We haven't sen them in a long, long time.  I want to look good for that party and am going to work hard to do so.......

L:  Oatmeal w raisins, cinn and sugar and almonds, blackberries, smoothie 365

S:  Nature Valley Thin 80

Subtotal 610

D:  Corn, Kale, fried green tomatoes, a few bites of slaw 1/2 corn stick 500

S:  Triscuit things - 200

1310 cals   exercise - 15 minutes on ET, short bike ride 10 min weights

Mindfulness...that's a good word. Not just giving in and eating just for something to do or out of boredom or habit. Mindfulness...thinking before we eat....asking ourselves if we are genuinely hungry for this or that. We sure are a very blessed nation by the Lord. Here we are, struggling to not overeat and there are other people struggling to have SOMETHING to eat.

OK, so that's a decent amount of time you have to work with before the party. How much do you want to lose? It is about 7 weeks - you could be near goal!!!!

Thanks for the cute comment you left me. I am hoping this is just a first trimester thing. I am starting to show a tiny bit now (lower tummy pooch) so hopefully that means I'll outgrow these headaches soon. :)

Mindful eating is a great approach to eating. Eat to live and not to eat is another way I look at eating...though some days are easier than others!

Was a good day -

Many of you expressed interest in how the session with nutritionist/psychologist went.  I can tell you it was good.  I will post more as I can.  I am trying to digest (if you will pardon the pun!!!) it all, myself.  So give me some time and I'll give you what insight I can.  The talk centered around emotions (no surprise there, is there?) and was really not about food.  I'll leave it at that for now. 

B:  Oatmeal with cinn and sugar and almonds, coffee  275 

L:  7 Corn chips and 1/2 C Black Bean Salsa (homemade!!) 300 Fruit Smoothie 165 = 465

S:  7 Corn Chips and 1/2 C Black Bean Salsa (again) 300

D:  5 Triscuits and neufachel cheese, pnb and raisins 210

S:  Nature Valley Wafer 80

S:  Cereal 175

1505 Cals :o)  No real exercise  :o(

Updated Saturday and didn't post all day yesterday BUT I did keep count for Sunday - it was 1650 calories - but I splurged and that isn't bad for a splurge.  

B:  Coffee, biscuits and jam 350

I have a banana for a snack and an appointment today with the nutritionist, physchologist lady.  We are supposed to start the first of 4 "coaching" sessions and then I will be eligible to go to group sessions once a week.  I am willing to do the work - let's see what happens.

L:  Cabbage cooked with a little ham and ham seasoning, big bowl of fruit - strawberries, blueberries and peaches - Yum 225 and very filling

S:  Banana 100

S:  2 New Nature Valley granola wafer-things - 160 - they are delicious, but not really worth the calories - the package says 80 clas "per pack" and I was thinking there were multiples (at least two) in each pack because that is the way it looked on the packaging!   Fooled me.  They are good, though not filling.

D:  4 Triscuits with Neufachel cheese, pnb and raisins - sounds weird, but if you try it I guarantee you will love it!  Kind of like a candy bar but with more nutrition.  230

S:  Pretzels 80

Not real hungry - husband was not home and to tell the truth - I was so "gassy" (sorry if this is TMI) from the cabbage I ate for lunch!! 

Cals = 1145    exercise = 10 minutes ET, 10 min weights in the a.m. - 25 minutes Bike outside!

D:  Little serving of zuchinni casserole d made - it was good and vegetarian, fruit small serving, angel food cake and RF ice cream  450

Total Cals - 1350 Housework exercise.

In a way I guess. But its more to do to with peoples dreams. The premise of the movie is that they are trying to plant thoughts into peoples heads while they dream by making them think they are actually awake... that sorta thing. The movies a total trip. When your finished watching it you'll look forward to bed because you want to dream dreams... I loved it.

Yesterday is updated.  Thanks for all the suggestions on Mexican Madness (how to avoid it!).  I did very well.  That's 4 days in a row.  I only did house work for exercise yesterday - BUT I got up this a.m. and did the Elliptical Trainer and weights again.  YAY  Can you believe I FORGOT to eat breakfast???  I will get something soon or else I'll be too hungry at lunch and dinner time, etc....

B:  Coffee 75

L:  Tuna Sandwich 450

S:  Pretzels  110

D:  green beans w little ham hock, 1 corn on the cob, 1/4 cornbread with honey  550

Calories 1185 - a little low, but I was due for a low one. 

Exercise = ET and weights - about 25-35 minutes total

lol, i used to be REAL picky with my breads. interestinly, you're gonna find this pretty funny, my pb and j wasn't on bread...was on these very light crackers. so, all the calories were from like 4 servings of pb and a couple nice dollops of jelly as well. just two crackers, 20 cal per piece. called light and tasty i think.

Yesterday's entry is updated for menu and comments.  Today I need to plan very well because I am meeting friends at Mexican restaurant.  I love chips and salsa, but am working on thinking of something I can have that will not bust my calorie count.  I am thinking maybe Fajitas without the burritos.....any suggestions??

B:  Egg, toast w butter and jam, coffee  350

L:  Green Beans, 1/2 PBJ, smoothie (sm) - 470 A little much - but so filling and everything was Good - 50 calorie bread helps keep PBJ cals reasonable 

UPDATE

D:  20 chips and salsa, fajita "the cook" which means no guac, no sour cream, just the chicken and the peppers and onions - I didn't use the tortilla, a couple of bites of refried beans (very little - really!)  550???  I did GOOD.

S:  Apple  70 

Total 1440 - Exercise was only housework - laundry - trying to get a jump on the weekend!

See if the restaurant has a menu online. Lots do and include nutritional/calorie info. That might give you some ready options. Good for you for wanting to select healthy choices. I hope you find something satisfying.

What about taco salad without the shell? For the chips, you might just portion it out, say 12-15 chips for a serving. Good luck! I also love that your expect to exercise. That's something I need to do.

How many calories to you allow yourself??? I'm going to think that either tacos without the cheese or fajitas and leave off the rice and cheese and try and stay away from the grease as you pick off the items... or ask them to not add any extra grease...sometimes that's what they spray on the plate to make it sizzle.

When in doubt, choose an item that includes soft tortillas. Soft tortillas are baked while crunchy shells are fried. Choosing soft over crunchy can easily save you a few hundred calories. Corn tortillas are better than flour tortillas, unless they happen to have whole wheat tortillas.

Replace refried beans with black beans. Black beans are low-fat, high in protein and fiber. Refried beans are often prepared with lard and Mexican cheese blends, or even bacon, which really ups the fat and calorie content of what could be a healthy side. Or, order pinto beans and mash them yourself for a similar flavor and texture without the extra fat.

Avoid nachos, chimichangas, chalupas, taquitos, beef or cheese burritos, chile relleno, (which are all deep-fried) and "double decker" burritos.

Try chicken fajitas, bean burritos, a sauteed chicken dish with peppers and onions (no cheese),or a soft taco. Eat all the salsa you want!

You may also be able to order low-fat cheese, brown rice, whole-wheat tortillas and/or a side of marinated vegetables, depending on the restaurant.

Some Mexican restaurants will replace the sides that come with meals with a salad if you ask them to. Top your side salad with salsa and you'll have a yummy, low-fat side. If you order an entree salad, be sure to request it be served on a plate rather than the deep-fried, bowl-shaped tortilla.

i love getting any burrito sans the tortilla or just a guacamole salad and some gazpacho. chips are hard to avoid, but i usually ask for some cucumber slices (they have for salads) and use those as my "chips" for guac and salsa:) thank you for your very profound words, its true that nothing is final until we depart- thanks for putting all of my belabored decisions into perspective- love to you.

Got up late - no exercise yet - raining like cats n dogs!  

L:  Arby's Regular Roast Beef and Diet Coke 350

Arby's Regular with Diet Coke and Coupon Deal $1.06! Lunch with a friend who was having a hard day - priceless!

D:  Bean Nachos - 8 Homemade - not too bad  300

S:  Popcorn at the Movies - 500 (?)  No Butter

S:  Cereal and peaches - 250

Huband and I went to an old time movie theatre and saw 1950's monster movies - The Creature from the Black Lagoon and It came From Outer Space - they were hilarious and the place was PACKED!

No exercise, though :o(

Calories - 1750  Kind of high, but not a waistline buster!   LOL

Mmm...I love Arby's, especially their regular with fries and a jamocha shake. That was my last meal before I gave birth to my son. I enjoyed it in between contractions, haha. If all goes well, I will repeat the tradition! :)

Good day yesterday - see my updated menu on yesterday's post.

Today - didn't get up as early as yesterday but still got on the Elliptical Trainer for 15 minutes and did about 10 minutes of light weights for arms and upper back.

B:  1/2 PBJ, Vanilla coffee and apple 350

Didn't tell about the meeting last Monday with the nutritionist/phychologist lady - it went OK.  After short discussion she asked me a couple of questions that made me think and realize (once again) that I KNOW everything I need to know and HAVE everything I need to have to live the healthy life I want to live.  Stress level over food went down significantly since then.  

L:  Subway Tuna on Wheat 6" and Light chips   595  This is about 100-150 calories higher than I remembered!  It  is because I used to get the mini sub and I forgot and got the 6" - but it was good and nutritious so I'll just keep calories reasonable this afternoon and tonight and exercize a little more and balance it out (or not).  If my goal is 1500 calories for the day then I still have 555 to go.

UPDATE for Tuesday -

S:  Bran Cereal w. strawberries and FF half n half

D:  pretzels and baked fish

I think I hit the 550 mark so 1495 total calories for today and the exercise mentioned above.

yeah, don't tell me about the clothes... I have put away so many, and bought too much... I enjoy buying clothes now, I enjoy that I can go to the "normal" section (in SOME stores, though) and not the SuperSize Ladies' department... but then my Man is very stressed each time I appear with a new piece of clothing... :P AHHH COFFEE now you made me want a coffee... :P

Thank you very much for the words of advice and encouragement ... no I won't know the results til November... so it'll be more stress from waiting for the results ...some say its even worse than studying for the test, but I can't imagine that... the 7 days is the count down to when the test begins... the 9 days is a countdown for when the test is over... it's a 2 day 16 hour (8 hours a day) exam....

Walked 2 miles this morning.  Vanilla iced coffee so far is all for breakfast.  The banana I brought to work is not good (over-ripe).  Not a good thing - but I'll work it out.  Must PLAN better.

I did  wake up with a better attitude today - I am sick and tired of my attitude it's making me be someone I am definitely NOT and I am the only one who can change it and I will.  So there!

Update - Meant to tell that  I got a pair of those "round-bottom" sneakers at a bargain price ($35!) and have been wearing them.  They really work on your legs and butt - I can feel it so much more when I walk and they also MAKE you hold your ab muscles in !  I like them.  Also - bowled 2 games Saturday night with husband, daughter and her boyfriend.  Was a little sore in the back of legs - but good stretch exercise. 

B:  Vanilla Iced Coffee  200

L:  Multigrain Wheat-thin Crackers 2 T Olive Nut Spread 1 T Peanut Butter, 2 peaches - YUM! 560

That should "hold me" 'til dinner and I have baked fish planned along with vegetables-no bread and more walking!.

D:  Baked Crunchy fish, 2 boiled new potatoes with butter, cucumber and onion "salad", 1 slice of tomato 450

S:  Raisin Bran cereal w dash of FF Half n Half  350

1560 - good for a change! Exercise - 2 mile walk

Hello, there, Hollybelle! Yes, I came back after some of the advertisements on DD went away. That is the reason I had left. I am so glad to be back again! I hope all is well with you. Looks like you're having a fight getting to your goalweight. There's no other way. It IS a fight. But after you get there, it is STILL a fight to stay there. :-) Love, Maria

This is what you wrote almost a year ago...July 16th: This week is going pretty darn good on the food and exercise. So far I have stayed within my calorie allowances each day (notice I didn't say calorie LIMITS) and I have exercised at least 45 minutes or an hour each day. My mind set has shifted (for whatever reason - I wish I could explain) and I feel empowered to take charge of my body again. I don't know if I have lost any lbs yet, but I can tell my clothes are a little less tight and I don't feel as bloated. I know water comes off first, but I want to see some real fat loss soon - especially in the waist area...... You were doing it then...you can pick up where you are now and get going again! I believe you can get to your goalweight. You really can....if it is MORE IMPORTANT to you than eating freely whatever you decide you want when you want. You've been on this journey long enough (yes, I know...a lllllllllllllllllllllllllllong time! We're both oldie-goldies here :-D ) to KNOW what is required and no it is NOT comfortable getting to goal and staying there but it is also NOT comfortable not being happy with one's size and weight when one is not where one really wants to be, either. Do I be hungry? YES. Do I give in? Sometimes but usually NOT if I've had my cals allowance for the day. I just do something to distract my mind from thinking about food and whatever I'm craving, I tell myself I can have it for breakfast tomorrow. Hope this helps! :-) Love, Maria

Holly, I just read your entry bellow and wanted to hear what you found out from your doctor. Of course, if you don't mind sharing... I feel I need to see a nutritionist/psycologist myself... I find myself out-of-control with food and lack of exercise for periods of time and that's my biggest problem - my sole problem, really. Going to exercise is wonderful for you! I hope you had a good one!
