Day 35!  Am at work - not not feeling that great.

Debating whether or not to go to doctor.  I think antibiotics are a good thing, but prefer my body to get better on it's own. Cough not quite as bad and got plenty of rest (boring!!!) this weekend.........sigh!

Update:  Went to the doctor - Nurse Practitioner, actually.  Got two prescriptions and told to keep using inhaler and cough syrup.  So hopefully this latest installment of modern medicine will knock it out.

B:  Banana, Tea 100

L:  salad and dressing 200, 1/2 club sandwich 300

Subtotal 600 calories

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

4everhopeful on 02/08/2010:
take care of yourself; rest up and recommend a bowl of chicken noodle soup! Hot bath with epson salts, for your tired muscles, never hurts either :) Hoping you are up and running at full speed soon

legcramps on 02/08/2010:
You should be at home, resting. I know it's boring, but you've gotta do it so that you can get back on track sooner, rather than later. Take care of yourself first!

KathyBlue on 02/08/2010:
Well, it's better to get antibiotics than to develop a pneumonia or something more grave... Legcramps is right, you should be at home resting at least... and you should consider eating more veggies and fruits with Vitamins like kiwi, orange...

chidogs on 02/08/2010:
You must rest a lot, don't let it get any worse. Take care.

MoodyMe on 02/08/2010:
Yup to what everyone else has said~Lots of rest~lots n lots of rest!

nita51 on 02/08/2010:
Feel better,,,,,,and lots of hot tea.

Day 33  YAY!  Yesterday was good.  Didn't get the exercise in - my friend called and we went to dinner.  I was nervous that I wouldn't find a good alternative on the menu or that I would eat too much bread and butter (Italian Restaurant - really good), but I did.  I couldn't even eat all the salmon salad I ordered and I just nibbled on the bread and had a little butter.  There really wasn't much dressing on the salad, either.  So all in all  - pretty good expereince.  I am not feeling well and will have to watch that I don't over eat today  in an attempt to make myself feel better!  I tend to do that sometimes.  Sore throat and kind of icky feeling.

Big news - I put on my favorite gray jeans to wear to work this morning (rainy Friday so was dressing down) and I had to take them off - in the last week they have gotten too big to really wear around the MIDDLE!!!  I will wash them and try to shrink them a little this weekend.  I really love them - but I won't mind shopping for a smaller size - if you haven't tried gray jeans - get some - they really are a good change from blue and black and go with alot of things!

So far today:

B:  Cereal, splash of ff half n half, Slimfast peanut bar, Tea 300

L:   8 crackers, peanut butter, chicken and stars soup, apple, 570 (I was hungry)

I am EXCITED I just used an Amazon gift card to purchase a DVD with 5 -10 minute stretches on it AND 3 Jillian Michaels DVDs - I got the famous SHRED and two more I can't remember names of right now.  They were packaged together. Should get them next week!

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

4everhopeful on 02/05/2010:
Hollybelle; congrats! what a great way to start the weekend! Hope that great feeling of going down a dress size keeps you on a natural high and helps you fight your cold! I can relate, cause I too have a tendency to gain weight when I'm sick/or very tired and my mind believes chocolate ice is the magic cure for everything!

geevee on 02/05/2010:
What a great feeling to have jeans too loose to wear! I can't wait for that to happen with my current pair that I couldn't even get into for a year. To be able to squeeze into them at Thanksgiving was such a triumph. But giving them away because they're too big will be even more satisfying. GOOD for you!!!

balloonlady on 02/05/2010:
Love it when jeans are too big. I almost want to wear them anyway to show off....lol Restaurants are always a pain for me in our line of work we are at them a lot. I always try try to find their calorie info online, but a lot of them don't post it. (because you would not eat it f you knew) At this point I always keep my wishbone spritizer salad dressing in my purse, I usally can find a salad at most places....

legcramps on 02/05/2010:
Good job hollybelle!

starfish on 02/05/2010:
woohoo! Congrats on the jeans! I love when that happens. Keep up the great work :-)

legcramps on 02/05/2010:
HEY, fellow shredder! LOL, I can't wait until you start that DVD! Pick a spot that isn't close to the couch so you can't just fall down on it during the workout!! Good luck, let us know how it goes ;)

panda22 on 02/05/2010:
Hey! Thanks for the advice =) Yes I live on the east coast, so we are due to get tons of snow starting tonight =(. I will definitely use some of those coping suggestions! AWESOME news about the jeans! That's the BEST feeling! Progress is all in how the clothes fit!

I think you will like the Shred. It's VERY high intensity, but it's not very long at all...only 20 minutes each Level. Sweating in 20 minutes = A workout WELL worth it! Can't wait to see how you like it when it arrives. LOL yes Legcramps is correct...the first week or so is TOUGH but it gets better! Have a great weekend!

KathyBlue on 02/06/2010:
What's the title of the 5-10 min stretches? Please share it as a reply of my latest entry, I'd really need something like that, after tennis... Thanks! :)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/06/2010:

Keep up the good work Hollybelle! My true goal is to go the entire month and make healthy eating choices... sounds easy right? Patience is a virtue I, myself, have still yet to obtain. Hoping to learn perseverance too. Added bonus will be losing weight; in fact I think they state that a loss of 1-2 lb per week is best because that means u will keep it off! Forever :)

legcramps on 02/04/2010:
Good job! Get that exercise in! So, your favorite local restaurant is called Fried Green Tomatoes, or you had fried green tomatoes at your favorite local restaurant? When do you weigh-in next?

Take advantage of the good weather! Good job with the exercise! On to the next day ;)

legcramps on 02/03/2010:
LOL, it's Shred, not Shed. I think, anyways. I think she talks about 'shredding the fat' or something. Whatever it is, right now it's not that much fun!!! But, yeah, check it out! LOL

panda22 on 02/03/2010:
LOL saw your comment on Legcramps diary....as a fellow "Shredder" I would suggest it as well. It's a very intense DVD that has 3 levels of 20 minute workouts with Jillian. I think we are all gonna be on Level 1 for awhile cuz it's hard! And yes, shredding the fat and building muscle is the goal, and it works =) Great menu today...keep it uP!

KathyBlue on 02/03/2010:
Lunch sounds fun! :)

nita51 on 02/04/2010:
Thank you and I'm happy to have inspired you,,,you also inspire me. I want to be able to walk as you do,,,well one day, I just know that will become a reality. Hey, I grew up on fried green tomatoes, my mother use to make them for me. sounds like you enjoyed your dinner. Glad your weather is better too. You are doing marvelous! Take Care.

Day 30, my dears!!!!!!   OH YEAH!

Yesterday was a good day.  See updated menu and exercise.  Plan to walk dogs again today as the weather has broken a bit.  Still snow and ice on ground, but roads, sidewalks mostly clear.

B:  Cereal and splash of milk,  Banana, Tea  300

I have EXTRA incentive to do well for the next month because I have TWO big trips coming up - one with husband to Charleston, SC - Maria7's homestate!!!  I've never been to Charleston, although I have been to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island, and I can't wait to see it! I am told it's much like Savannah GA - which I just love!  Also, myself and three other people will be traveling to Washington DC (leave the day after I return from Charleston) at a National Convention for our industry.  I am a little intimidated by the DC trip as leaders from our industry from all over the US will be there.  We'll see...........

Everyone - have a good day today - stay focused on your goals - not what you are giving iup, but what you are GAINING (and I DON'T mean weight, either, girlfriends!!)

UPDATE:

L:  macaroni, tomatoes, gr beef and onions (made by co-worker's husband , 1/2 grapefruit - 450

D:  Spaghetti (leftover) 450

S:  1 Tiny Cookie, Slim a bear - sweet tooth - oh well!  170 unhealthy calories!

Total Cals = 1370  Exercise = 1 hour walking dogs - Big dog was not as cooperative as the day before!  He pulled too much.  Going to have to get the Gentle Leader out again when I take him by myself!l

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

cooongrats, Holly! :) 30 days. :) I'm at my 3rd week now. Will start fourth week on Friday. I hope I will eventually forget counting, and take it as a lifestyle. I have to have this for years... You only have 18,2 lbs to achieve your goal! Go ahead, head held high! :)

bez15 on 02/02/2010:
It's always good to have that extra push because of your upcoming trips. You're off to a great start this month!! I know you'll keep it up!

Day 29!!  Starting my 5th week!!

I decided to let yesterday be a "splurge a little" day.  Contributing to that decision was the fact that daughter showed up with her posse to make cookies at our house!   They made brownies and wedding cookies.  I cooked a big dinner for us all.  Check out yesterday's update that details my big mistake with the kettle corn - I "thought" that seemed like too good a deal to be true - 150 vs 450 calorie portions are usually very easy to distinguish  LOL!!!  Any way - I must exercise more this week!!  Got to do it if I am going to see results.  FYI- The scales said 166.8 this morning.  So I am below what the progress bar says - for some reason I decided to re-weigh today, but I really don't like weighing very often at all.

So far today:

B:  Banana and Tea  100

L:  few pita chips and hummus 160, vegetable beef soup 300, orange 60 total 520

S:  Granola Bar 140

D:  6 Ritz crackers 96 , 1/4 C chick salad, 150 total 246

Total cals = 1006  Exercise 1.25 hours walking with both dogs!  They were extraordinarily well behaved, too!

S:  Slim a Bear Ice Cream Sandwich 100

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

glycrina on 02/01/2010:
good for you! it looks like you may be down two pounds! that is great. I love Kettle Corn -- it is a whole grain, right?

greengirl on 02/01/2010:
You are doing so well Holly :) My new treadmill is a York Aspire and I am in lurve !!!!!

nita51 on 02/02/2010:

bez15 on 02/02/2010:
You're lucky to have dogs that behave when you walk. I was walking my uncles dog about a month ago and I swear it would stop at every mailbox! Haha. It's great to great your workout in AND the dogs exercise :) Your menu sounds great also!

Day 28 !!!  Four Weeks DONE..  I have done pretty well for 4 weeks.  I'm not sure of my goal weight, but I weighed this morning and I just about match the weight that is posted on my progress chart below.  I weighed 168.5 with only pajamas on.  I won't weight for another month, or there about.  I can't stand the numbers too much!

OH my goodness - I slept until 11:00 this morning.  I never sleep past 7:30 or 8:00 on the weekends.  I am a morning person and like getting up and getting started most days.  I went to bed around midnight and woke up at 6:00 and had a bowl of cereal and laid back down and didn't hear husband let the dogs out or anything!

So far today:

B: Bowl of Crunchy Raisin Bran splash ff half and half 350

L:  Bowl of gr beef vegetable soup (I know I eat this all the time, but I don't usually get tired of it!!) 200.

S:  Kettle Corn - Thought I was eating 150 calories worth, but read box WRONG - ate 450 worth - oh well it was good and I decided to endulge a little bit today.

D:  Roast, mashed potatoes, carrots and corn.  Little of everything - 400

S:  Daughter made cookies - ate 3 - 225 They were small.

Total 1625 Not too bad for a splurge day!!  and no exercise (I MUST exercise more this coming week!)

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 02/01/2010:
yeah, veggie soup is something addictive :D Have a good week, holly!

Day 27 - Yesterday was ok.  stayed within cals but no exercise.  Today has been kind of odd - I've snacked around but not really overeaten.  Husband has gone to Joe Lavano concert with his boy cousins so I'm alone with duaghter and doggies tonight.  Shoveled snow tthis am and went to the grocery.  Made ww bread and gr beef vegetable soup.   Napped!!!  Have been having some good food conversations wtih Nita 51 and BaloonLady It really helps to talk about our "food feelings" and explore our minds.  I am learning more things about my food attitudes.  The thing is I get to a good weight and then I forget the things I learned.  I am working to not revert back to old thinkinig and have to re-learn again and again.  I can do it.  I just have to remember thatstaying aware is not temporary state - but an ongoing one.

So far today:

B:  Crunchy Rasin Bran w splash of milk  200

L:  2 slices of ww toast with butter and jam 400

S:  Cup of gr beef vegetable soup 200

D:  two turtle cookies and milk  400 Not healthy I know, but daughter bought those break apart nestles cookies weeks ago and they havae been sitting in the 'frig ever since.  I cooked 3, ate two and had a glass of milk and I'm done for the day.

total for the day 1200 exercise - shoveling snow

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

panda22 on 01/30/2010:
Great menu today Hollybelle =) You're doing really well! Food feelings are always very good things to explore. I can relate to your statement about forgetting what you learned and going back to old habits. Your absolutely right, being conscious of our bodies and how they work when we eat a certain way is something that tends to get lost once we reach our goals. It's great that you are working hard to keep it a constant state of mind when you reach your goal this time! Have a nice Sunday =)

nita51 on 01/31/2010:
I guess we caused each other to think...( you think? ) smile, We have a lot to get excited about, and we will take this world by storm....knowing what we know, and sharing our knowledge with one another, Holly, there is no where to go... but....... straight towards, our goals. Enjoy your week-end

Day 26 - Well, dinner turned out to be a bust!  Our reservations weren't until 8:00!!  I would have been starved by then so I ate a snack for about 300 calories and when I got to the restaurant I ordered soup - Borscht (Russian Place) and it was absolutely terrible - I sent it back and then there was nothing that fit into my calories that I really would have cared to eat so I didn't eat there and wound up having cereal at home about midnight. Plus husband's idea of dinner conversation last night was to talk about a yucky situation at work.  I do sympathize with him, but - geez!  What a day!

So far today:

B:  1/2 C Raisin Bran Crunch, Tea - 90

I am bound and determined to have a good weekend - this would make 3 in a ROW if I do.

I am disappointed because I don't feel like I am really losing at a rapid pace - compared to how well I am doing.  I think it's because I'm not exercising EVERY day, but the weather has been awful and motivation has been low at time.  It will improve.  I just need to look beyond today to the future.  I know by Summer I will be at goal.  Or close!  I can do it.

L:  Crackers and Naturally More Peanut Butter w. extra flaxseed, Chick & Stars Soup 480

Subtotal = 570

D:  Spagetti and Meat sauce - homemade with learn gr beef  400

S:  Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich 140

S:  Nuts 200

Total Cals 1310  Exercise NONE

MARIA7  I can't figure out how to communicate with you on your blogspot  :o).  I wanted to tell you - I am coming to your state - Charleston SC for 4 nights in March!!!  (3/2-3/6).  I am very excited.  I have been to Hiltonhead and other places, but not to Charleston.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 01/29/2010:
Have a goood weekend, yess! :)

balloonlady on 01/29/2010:
sorry for you bust of a day, but it will turn around .. I was thinking about your comment on mine about food when we are sick. making us feel better,, I think we link it to childhood. the ice cream when we did not feel good, its like a sense of being taken care of.. when we really just need to take care of ourselves with out the ice cream... allthough I did have a skinny cow ice cream... substitues are good...

nita51 on 01/29/2010:
Your logic about the scales and what we think about ourselves, was a real eye opener. Thank you for causing me to (think) I was filled with regret, because I deprived myself, from something that was ONLY food. ONLY FOOD. Not beer cigarettes, drugs, ( none of which I've ever used ) I started to wonder, how bad 1 meal would have been. Stayed in that purple funk, all evening. I felt a bit envious of people who are born without this obesity-monster, who can freely eat as they please. Funny thing, today all the resentment and anger is gone. Today, (this new day),,,,I'm glad I didn't indulge. Nothing compares to the way I feel, with just 67 lbs gone, I can only imagine what "goal" would feel like. You my dear, are blessed. I know you want to lose faster,,,but thank God you're not 200 or 300 lbs, You'll get those 18 lbs off, I know you will. Thank you for your shoulder, when I needed to hear another positive point of view. Hugs!
