Hey girls. Since I got a couple of comments, I thought I'd do a quick post. I do think I will be back here at some point, but right now I have a lot on my plate and dds is what keeps slipping. I'm not doing awful or like I was before I joined, but I am not doing so well that posting wouldn't make me feel worse about it...so I guess I am on indefinite hiatus. Love you girls and really appreciate this community. And I really do think I will be back when my life is a little more settled. :)

Thank you for the update. I can appreciate that your life is in upheaval/disaray at the moment. I hope you get all you hope for and that you stay eating as healthy as possible. It would be wonderful if you could come back the same weight or even a little loss. Whatever, it will be lovely to have you back when you are more settled.:)

Hey ladies. So my weekend exploded with busy-ness pretty much from Thursday on. A volunteer effort I have been involved in is in the home stretch and requiring waaay more of a commitment than I anticipated this past weekend and this week. So I may be awol, but back next week, which I definitely mean to stick to :)

Hey girls, happy wed. Had a good day complete with lunch out as an office (so a splurge then). I also got up an hour early, so that I could leave an hour early (because I had to work an extra hour for summer hours) and go to zumba at the gym, so yay for me. I have a list of phone calls I have to make this evening and I'm exhausted, so this is short and sweet!

exercise: 40 minutes zumba

breakfast: 2 slices whole wheat bread with 2 slices of brie and blueberries (I should point out that I buy "light style bread" so a serving is actually 3 pieces... I know the norm is 1, but this is special bread, so I am a-ok)

lunch: thai chicken fried rice with small salad and spring roll

dinner: lean cuisine meatloaf meal (kind of small, I may need to eat something else. This is a bit too low in calories. I may have some popcorn)

liquid calories: 3 diet cokes, plenty of water

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 21 lbs to go!

Those "dinners" really don't seem very filling...I would be pretty hungry afterwards too!! have a good one!!

Oh yeah, my husband takes the frozen Healthy Choices dinners for his lunches bc he works out in the middle of nowhere (it is a nice office building, but no restuarants and he takes a bag of frozen vegetables stuff for a salad, granola bars fruit and a couple of boxes of crackers and a jar of peanut butter for "emergencies". He just started doing this 3-4 months ago and he seems to like it better than driving to fast food places or sit-down restaurants. yay for Zumba girl!

Hey ladies! Happy Tuesday. I got stuck working a little late today, but it was entirely my own fault. I didn't get in as early as I like and (lucky me) we do summer hours, and I had to run a quick errand and make that time up. I didn't know what summer hours were until I moved near the beach, but a lot of people here have them… you work 9 hrs Mon-Thurs and then get to take a half day on Friday. It's pretty awesome on Fridays, but slightly less awesome on the other days of the week.

 

I am pumped about my quick errand though! I am reading the Game of Thrones book series and on Sunday I finished the second one and ran out to buy the third. Well, I went to my local, small business, bookstore and they were out of it and the lady was super sweet and in the middle of the same series and she started to order it for me and I just didn't have the heart to say "ehh, I am gonna go to the big box retailer down the street so I can have it right now." After my wait, it came in today, but after lunch and they closed before I got off of work. Eek! I really didn't want to wait any longer, so I ran out to pick it up really quick and I get to read tonight. Excellent. It seems like every book gets longer, which is fine with me, because I am a fast reader and these actually last me a little bit. Ooh, and in other happy book news, I got a notification that a book that I preordered and paid for months ago is shipping. Whenever that happens, I feel like I am getting a surprise present in the mail (even if it's just from past me).

 

Today's other tiny triumph was groceries over lunch. I only bought 3 things that weren't on sale so I saved oodles. Whoo whoo. I am not very good at keeping up with coupons, but I am getting better with sales!

 

Breakfast: blueberries and two pieces whole wheat bread with two slices of brie on top

 

Lunch: spinach salad with a mix of beans, edamame, tomatoes, onions, sunflower seeds, and a little bit of cold pesto pasta on top of spinach (mmm salad bars) and 1/2 a pretzel roll

 

Snack: the other 1/2 pretzel roll.

 

Dinner: sausage tortellini with tomato sauce and red peppers. If I am still hungry, I am allowed one of those little 150 calorie "warm delights" desserts. I may still be hungry, bc the portion control on the tortellini is hard for me (when I am off the wagon, I eat the whole package, no problem. When I am on, I eat half. It's such a small portion for pasta stuff!)

 

Liquid calories: 3 diet cokes, lots of water

Hey ladies! I know I have been MIA for a long time but I am dipping my toe back in. I was working on a lot of personal stuff and it was just too much for me to keep up with my diet and dds at the time. I am still working on the other stuff (and will let you know if any of it pans out what it is), but I think the part where it's been so time intensive that I can't work on diet stuff has wound down. So I'm back to working on the weight. I have gained a few pounds back, but just 3 or 4, which isn't so bad, considering I haven't been focusing on things. I didn't fall all the way off the wagon…. I didn't ramp up my caffeine which was a struggle, and I had a healthy breakfast no matter what. I'll start the official weigh-ins next week, bc I had a bad food day yesterday and I fear to start today!

 

Side note: during my hiatus I visited V's hometown of Chicago and found it to be awesome! :)

 

exercise: was just gonna focus on food this week getting back into the swing, but I will note 7 flights of stairs (stupid apt elevator, broken agaon)

 

Breakfast: blueberries and two pieces whole wheat toast with two slices on brie on top

 

Lunch 6" italian sub, no sides since it's not as healthy as a salad

 

Dinner: tortellini with tomato sauce and bell peppers on top

 

Liquid calories: 3 diet cokes, good with water

Great to see you back. Sounds like you had time well spent while away. Hope something pans out so you can fill us in.....3-4 lbs is not a big deal, especially if you weren't paying attention to such things. Imagine what will happen now that you are refocusing on healthy weight loss!

Hi girls! Happy Thursday! I hope everyone had a nice day. Mine was good. It was a coworkers birthday so everyone was sort of loose and in a good mood. And someone stumbled on this: http://pauladeenridingthings.com/  ,which provided us with much hilarity (I made one for the birthday girl, ah the joys of one minute photoshopping). I had a headache in the middle of the day, but it has half life-ed down a bit. I had a nice little afternoon break away from the computer screen mid afternoon. We had a lunch in learn, so the birthday decided she didn't want the regular birthday lunch and wanted ice cream cones instead, so that's what we did. It was a nice break, and I think it helped my headache. :) I'm trying not to take medicine, in case I am getting rebound headaches, so I am just gonna sit back and enjoy some tv and relax tonight.

exercise: 60 crunches

breakfast: fresh pineapple, a couple slices of comte and some raw cashews

lunch: thai chicken salad (romaine, grilled chicken, edamame, light drizzle of peanut sauce, carrots, and some crispy strips)

Hey ladies! Happy Hump Day! Halfway through the week, woo woo. I am posting early and will check in with everyone later bc I have a meeting after work today. Today wasn't a wretched food day, but it wasn't great one. Lots of walking though, at least! I will see you ladies later :)

 

Exercise: walked a little under 3 mi (to lunch and back and to my meeting and back). I have not been good with the workout train, so I am trying to ease back in with something/ anything every day.

 

Breakfast: an orange, a couple slices of comte, a serving of raw cashews

 

Lunch: Italian sub. I didn't really even want this, but I had already turned my friend down for lunch once this week and I am a bit low on cash bc I have been eating out too much, and it was the much cheaper option, so I took it.

 

Snack: splurge! a klondike bar. A little convenience store just opened next door and they accidently had gotten some not for individual resale klondikes so they were giving them away! A coworker came back with a bag of them for everyone. Too hard to resist.

 

Dinner: TBD Well, I ate the kind of weirdo dinner that is only eaten by a single person, but I will fess up to it here.... some tofu from a frozen low cal tofu curry meal, which I hated, so I just ate the tofu out of it (so I wouldn't get sick from not eating at my meeting). Ate some veggie crisps there, probably too many. Came home and ate fresh pineapple, a serving size of salami, and 1/2 a serving of oj. Weirdo dinner, alright.

Liquid calories: 3 sodas and lots of water

That's the key. Just do "something" every day. Before you know it, you've got a routine going & shock of all shocks - you look forward to it. One step at at time will get you to your destination! Cudos on the walk! I LOVE to walk... beneficial in soooo many ways!

Hey ladies! Better day today, so far so good. :) I have a theory about why my migraines are worse… possibly I am developing allergies and that is affecting it, bc it is whoa pollen season here and I have been a bit more sneezy and stuffy. I'll probably take an allergy pill for a couple of days and see if it helps.

 

The weather is awesome right now. I walked somewhere to pick up lunch for myself and it was so nice out that I spur of the moment stopped on the way back and sat to eat at a park by the water near my office. There are some things I don't love about where I live, but there are some really pretty places here too! I'll have to take a picture for you guys next time I do that. I am enjoying this weather! Working on a few things tonight then off to bed early-ish. Nothing to crazy going on, on this weeknight. :) But sometimes that is nice too.

 

Exercise: walked about a mile

 

Breakfast: kashi go lean crunch cereal with skim milk and craisins

 

Lunch: veggie quiche (cauliflower, broccoli, bell pepper, potato, carrots, and some cheddar) with side salad with tomatoes and carrots and a teeny bit of balsalmic vinigrette. I would also like to point out that I got this at a bakery and I resisted all of the yummy single serving cupcakes and such available.

 

Snack: another handful of jelly beans

 

Dinner: roasted chicken breast with steamed brussel sprouts with smart balance light and some small new potatoes. A little parmesan on top of the potatoes and sprouts.

 

Liquid calories: 3 diet sodas and good on water

I am glad you had a good day. Lunch in the park sounds wonderful, like a little piece of time out of your real life. Having a quiet weekend planned is always a good idea, that way if you want to do something you have the room to manoeuvre. Have a good day:)

Hello ladies! I hope everyone had a nice Monday.  :) Mine was fine... Monday-ish, but not bad. I had another migraine today, towards the end of the work day. I took my medicine and it is going away, but my entry won't have tons of personality today (if it ever does :P) I've had a few more than usual lately and it is so lame! Normally when that happens, I can go "oh, I haven't gotten enough sleep or oh I haven't gotten much sleep" etc, but I don't know why it's been happening. Just bad luck I guess! Or my mother (who get's migraines too) always gets a rough batch when the weather gets hot, and it's getting hot here, so maybe that's what is happening to me? I'm generally pretty lucky and healthy, and this is just my thing to deal with, but today I feel very "grrr, not fair" *stamps foot* about it. But not sad or depressed about it, just frustrated I guess. I had a really bad one this weekend, while out with friends. I didn't drink any alcohol, bc I felt it coming on and between my ordering food and it coming, I was so sick I had to leave and couldn't even eat. My friend insisted on walking me home, which was totally sweet of him, but he had gotten some good news and should've been celebrating, not wasting his time making sure I was ok. It just makes me feel like such a freak, and no fun, that sometimes I get so sick for no reason/ very little reason. I know I am not, and I know other people have far worse health problems than me and I'm glad I don't have to deal with them, but sometimes I just wish I was normal! And honestly, mostly they are very well managed with my medicine, and oh goodness, worlds better than they used to be, but it's just lame to be a migraine person sometimes! Phew, ok, tirade/ vent over.

snack: a handful of jelly beans (a consultant brought a huuuuuge jar of them to us at the office)

It sounds like you have a good friend there!! I am not sure there is such a thing as normal after a certain time, as time passes we gather illnesses/faults/deseases, just comes with the territory. I used to get killer migrains as a young married women and when I moved from South Australia to New South Wales they just stopped. I suspect it may have been something to do with air pressure, just my theory!! I hope you have a better day today and resume normal temperament.:)

Sorry to hear you're suffering with the migraines--I hope today is better for you. I used to get "sick" headaches when I was younger--always tied to MSG intake. That's probably the closest to a migraine I've had.

Anyway, just wanted to mention something that's associated a little with migraines. I found out about it when a friend was mentioning how debilitating his friend's migraines had become (if you already know the source of your headaches forgive me for butting in). It's something called PFO (an internet search will bring it up) and it was recently in the news about children and migraines.

Hope your day's going well for you--you DO deserve to feel healthy and normal--don't give up on that!
