Everything is good today; I had some pain and swelling yesterday so not quite back to work yet. Probably not until next week. I think I might have pushed my knee too quickly, which is certainly something I would do ;)

So i'm taking it easy today, alternating between using crutches to get around and hobbling to work my knee a little. I hope the pain I had yesterday is gone; will need to monitor that throughout the day.

Foods today - mocha, oatmeal with pb and apple, chicken, rice and green beans, curried lentil stew. And a friend is bringing me some ice cream this afternoon since i've been craving it - this is the third day of craving and i'm slowly going crazy from it LOL. I didn't mention to her that i'm lactose intolerant ;) no need for her to feel bad about helping me out LOL.

Otherwise i'm wasting money renting movies, i've done as much of my income tax return as I can for now, and i'm keeping the house relatively clean believe it or not!

Feels like it might be time for a nap ;)

legcramps - Monday Mar 11, 2013

Still at home and going a little stir-crazy!

Today i'm working on transitioning to not needing crutches for every trip off the couch. Exercises are going well, only slight pain at times.

Restless though!

And the eating wasn't so great at first; basically whatever I could get my hands on since I always seem to be hungry. Much better now, and making better decisions, but the damage has been done - three pounds up since Friday!

Today - mocha, whole grain toast, peanut butter, banana

Curried lentil stew is pretty AWESOME!!! Slowly working my way through it.

Progress as of today: 17.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

I am out of surgery, friends, and back at home. In a little pain, but everything went well and i'm not even too souped up to say hello to my buddies here!

(when the 'rents first came up to me after surgery, I was mumbling under my breath and then laughing out loud. no idea what I was trying to talk about, and I got a strange, very strange look from them LOL). Morphine for the WIN.

I had a lovely visit with grandma yesterday. She usually makes quite healthy food for when I come to visit, but this time she threw a pizza in the oven. A delicious, pepperoni, cheese-smothered, stomach-ache-inducing rising crust pizza. So far, no stomach ache though, so hip-hooray! Cheer for the small things, people!

An oatmeal cookie for dessert later, and off to home I went to get ready for my workout - another 30 minutes of walking with core exercises. I know this might sound boring - walking is all I seem to be doing lately - but in fact, it's quite fun with two of my workout buddies doing it with me. We do a lot of yelling and cheering ;) That said, I will go out of my mind with joy when I am finally once again capable of more than a simple walk. It will happen.

This may be the last you hear from me for a few days, until I am out of surgery and beginning recovery. I will certainly try to post here as soon as I can, but if you haven't heard from me - please don't worry too much; chances are I am just too stoned to think about writing an entry ;)

Hi all, sorry I haven't been commenting lately on your entries; don't worry, once I am off after surgery i'll have all the time in the world and will probably leave numerous comments for you! Perhaps i'll even have a conversation with myself on your entry! Never know! Could happen!

I don't know if you can tell by the above paragraph, but I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. It was really frustrating to wake up and realize only ten minutes had passed since the last time I looked at the clock. I'm already struggling with staying awake this morning. May all the coffee I drink today NOT burn a hole in my stomach.

Looks like we're out of tax forms until Friday so I guess i'm doing my return online this year. Not happy about this, because I like to make my own calculations (bean counters unite) and double check everything - that's a lot harder to do when you're filling it out online. Oh well. There are worse things in life...

I have to get the dishes washed tonight, and look through all the bottom cupboards in the kitchen to see if there's anything I will need to take out and leave on the counter for next week (to make it easier when i'm moving around with crutches). I still need to get a few snack items as well, but I think everything else that I can possibly do before surgery is done. Oh, just remembered that I need to get crutches; since I work at a hospital that shouldn't be too difficult to do - as long as I remember to do it!

It looks like i'll be taking the entire week off work for recovery. The pre-op assessment lady actually laughed at me on the phone when I suggested I should be back to work by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Actually laughed at me and called me a Funny Lady. I will not be impressed if they put me on a back-to-work program. Nope, won't be impressed at all. That won't be happening.

I've got a couple of bigger projects I need to get done before Thursday, so I guess i'd better get back at it!

I won't know for sure until the surgery is over, in case they have to do something that hasn't been previously discussed with me. If everything goes the way it should, I could be on crutches for about five days.

Happy Monday!

Got another couple chunks of colour put into my hair on Saturday, along with a trim. The chunks are purple, so right now i've got red and purple highlights, although the red has faded to a rust colour, which is kind of neat still. I love the purple; it's very PURPLE.

I tried to take a pic, but me and self-portraits don't get along so well...

I did some prep work over the weekend for my upcoming surgery - picked out loose fitting clothes for the day of, and clothes to last a few days after (before having to do the stairs to get more); picked up reusable ice packs since i'll be icing my knee for the first few days after surgery; and cooked up a batch of curried lentil stew for the week after surgery. I'm freezing it, and will bring it out once i'm back at home. I hope it's good! I also made sure I have lots of carrots and celery for snacking on when I start to get stir-crazy or bored. Last night we waxed legs and watched Big Brother Canada.

Friday night I went out for supper with friends and ended up getting snoozled into going to a house party. It was okay; I left shortly after midnight.

Tonight's plan is some walking and to pick up tax forms; might as well get those taxes done while I have nothing else to do next week!

I can't believe I made it to Friday. I was beginning to think it would always be Thursday.

Let's see, what did I do yesterday? I was a little ornery and had no words to define my feelings to DDs. Well kids, I was ornery.

Foods - mocha, coffee, turkey sandwich, chicken, brown rice, peanut butter sandwich, lots of water.

I gained slightly this morning and i'm pretty sure it's because of all the zig-zagging i'm doing with my eating. It will even out, and if it continues to zig-zag I will start to focus on success via something other than the scale.

Exercise - was a 20 minute walk and some great core exercises.

Surgery Update: I was called to book a surgery date yesterday; it will happen on March 8th. I'm freaking out. But I am also grateful that I was called so quickly. And I only have about a week to freak out and then it will be done. So I have some more bloodwork to get the lab to do, and a pre-op telephone assessment to complete on Monday, and then get ready for post-op recovery.

If I do really well with recovery, I should be in tip top shape by the time slo-pitch rolls around in May.

I have also heard that cycling is supposed to be easy on the knees; the experts actually suggest this exercise for a better and quicker recovery after arthroscopic surgery. I have a stationary bike at home, but it's too short for me and my knee locks when I use it. I wonder if I had an actual bike if that would help my recovery, and maybe it could be an added workout too. I'm definitely thinking way ahead of myself here, but I wonder if it would be worth looking into buying something that's fitted just for me? Is that even possible?

LOL. I would also have to learn how to ride a bike again. But it would be nice to add another outside activity to my arsenal, especially one that no one will LECTURE me about doing. It's like I have 25 mothers all of a sudden.

It makes everybody nervous having surgery, but it will be fine. Hope your recovery is quick. You'll remember how to ride a real bike - no way to forget. :)

Good News that you will be onthe road to recovery soon..It is too bad that you don't live nearby, I have a stationary recumbent bike that I would GIVE to you..It sits there gathering dust and it also makes for a great place to hang clothes too, LOL Seriously it is really good for knee issues which is why I bought it and then Shaun T came into my life..The END Hope you have a good weekend girl <3

I'm getting stir-crazy. If it was Sunday afternoon, I would be begging my wallyball team to take me back. I need to sweat more in order to be nice to people and babies on a regular basis. No offense to any babies who may be reading this now.

I went to a Lia Sophia party last night; jewelry is not my forte, but I was able to find a mother's day gift, a gift for grandma's birthday in April, and my boss's christmas gift all in one fell swoop, so that was handy. Of course, I also bought myself a necklace because it was half price and I felt like I deserved it

I have no idea what kind of mood i'm in today, but I don't think it's a good one. I just wrote out like fifteen different versions of this paragraph and icksnayed them all because they just weren't saying what I wanted to say.

I was going to say more, but then I decided it was all pretty much hogwash.

I finally brought my head out of my work today at 12:15 p.m. when a co-worker told me it was lunchtime. I was like "what's that now? who? where am I?" Craziness, but it's simmered down now, so that's good.

It's Wednesday!!! Who's happy? THIS GIRL. For no other reason than being halfway through the workweek

Ended up doing a quick 30 minute walk during a hockey game at the rink. SURPRISE!!! That was my workout! I was actually frightened of really looking forward to attempting 500 pushups. Alas, the stars did not align. Bummer.

Food - mocha, oatmeal, snack?, chicken, brown rice, green beans, snack?

Exercise - walking is on the agenda again, 30 minutes. I might also try Shaun T's hip hop abs class and see what that's all about. I noticed there is a slice of it on youtube so maybe i'll eat that for dessert.

I'm hungry. I woke up hungry and bloated this morning; didn't eat enough yesterday. My eyes are burning also - lack of sleep. Tossed and turned until midnight and was up earlier than normal this morning. Just can't sleep. Don't know why.

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!

Tell ya what, I will volunteer for the 500 pushups since I do a billion of them in Asylum..Hahahaha Yeah NOT ;) I think 100 is enough..So thrilled to hear you are in good spirits and BTW C-4 is a non steroid performance/muscle enhancer..I used to take it all the time before I gave up caffeine..My super hot bod GNC guy gave me free samples and suggested that I decrease the intake to see if it wouldn't make me feel as nutzo/bouncing off the walls ..So far so good but still not sure if I want to go back to relying on energy boosting supplements.. I have a week supply so if i don't rage afterwards I may go back to it..It really rocks my world in a good way just don't wanna rip anyone's head or ear off..LOL Have a great evening! <3
