Another day, another dollar.

Yesterday went well. I didn't fall or break anything, no one at work hates me (for now, and, well, hardly anyone is here this week), and nothing befell me that would indicate that my streak of bad luck continues. Thank goodness! I can breathe a little easier today.

I made chicken and potatoes yesterday for dinner; today is going to be homemade pizza with tomato sauce, lots of sweet peppers, the last of my brussel sprouts, and mozza cheese. If only I had spinach and feta cheese to add to the mix, so delicious.

Very cold here this morning, minus 30 degrees celsius with windchill (that's minus 22 degrees fahrenheit) but it's supposed to warm up a little. I hope the wind doesn't pick up - that always makes things feel a lot colder.

Suprisingly enough, I haven't been planting myself in front of the t.v. every free minute I have. I've been feeling restless enough to get up and do things during commercial breaks. I'm even thinking about picking up a skipping rope to skip during commercials. Dude, commercials are long. Loooonnnnnggg. I could get a lot of skipping done.

So maybe tonight I will have to knock a few hours of tv off. I don't know. This "having tv again" thing isn't going the way i'd expected it to.

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 12/11/2012:
Nom nom, your homemade pizza sounds wonderful. Your temps are crazy, I don't blame you for staying indoors, and skipping rope sounds like a great idea!

IndependentEm93 on 12/11/2012:
That is freezing! And commercials are way too long!

nunnermack on 12/11/2012:
Very happy to see that your day was a good one!!

That is a GREAT idea about skipping rope! I may have to use that myself but will do ab work!!! Thanks for the idea!!

It was a pretty awesome weekend compared to the workweek I had last week! I had a last ditch effort for Christmas shopping on Saturday and ended up coming home with more things for myself than for anyone else. I was going to go to a hockey game on Saturday night, but I ended up cuddling with my blankets on the couch all night instead. It was lovely.

I did some laundry and other housework on Sunday, wrapped a few more Christmas gifts, and basically watched movies all day. I needed the break desperately, so glad I got one.

Today begins with a few hiccups, but nothing life threatening and so it's all good.

For now.

I'm a realist, okay?

Yesterday evening I banged my head on the car door when I was trying to get into the car; this morning at work i've already done some damage by messing up a schedule. I finally had to completely start it all over again. I think I should stop touching things. Or maybe I should just stop moving altogether. Anyone want to be my personal "gopher" while I lay in bed all day like Brian Wilson did? I'd drive you crazy, I assure you. The bed sores would be worrisome though, so maybe I should just scratch this rotten idea.

I got my cable all hooked up last night, so this only attests the fact that I should be on home-rest. I'm all ready to go. I've even set up my pvr'ing schedule and should have around 47 hours of shows to watch by Monday. You think i'm going overboard? NAHHHHH...

I have to call my Dad and my Step-Mom tonight to catch up with them; I haven't talked to either of them for a couple of weeks now.

Which might interfere with my quality television time.

Ok, ok, in all seriousness, I am not THAT lazy.

In fact, i'm doing alright in terms of eating well and working out. I've been doing the 30 Day Shred and this week has been nothing short of stellar in regards to my nutrition.

Well, not counting the Christmas lunch yesterday which I DID NOT freeze to take to my Dad. The stuffing was glorious. You'll be happy to note that I only had one cabbage roll, and did not ask for any perogies. I had turkey, stuffing, & the cabbage roll, and I was STUFFED.

So really, I did pretty well, considering.

LOL, the home rest thing doesn't sound too terrible. Good work on the eating and workouts!

liza36 on 12/07/2012:
It's great you are getting in workouts and eating is going fairly well. Home-rest, I say go for it!

grannyannie on 12/07/2012:
Well done! And a rest day with lots of tv viewing is what we need sometimes!

I'm still on a roll, except now i'm so crazed that i'm actually laughing at all the craziness going down.

My back feels better today finally, and the eye twitch is gone for now. I guess the moral of the story is that we need to laugh at ourselves to ease some of the stress in our lives. Well, i've been laughing non-stop since about 7:30 this morning, so by the end of the day I should be totally stress-free LOL. See, I just did it again.

I purchased a box of pizza crusts with which I plan to make my own pizzas instead of ordering greasy stuff when friends are over. I think they will certainly appreciate my healthier versions haha. LOL'd yet again.

Anyways, the box took up almost my entire fridge's freezer. I don't know why i'm telling you. I guess I thought it was funny; now it doesn't seem as funny as I once thought.

Work is having a christmas lunch today; for $8.55 you get turkey and stuffing, perogies and cabbage rolls. The works. I should buy it and freeze it until I go to Dad's for a visit - he would love it.

Oh, but I can't freeze anything else. No room.

What's up with my life lately? Honestly, things just keep getting worse! I'm a bird on a very thin wire right now, any little thing could throw me off. And yes, really, I wouldn't be falling off the wire, i'd be thrown. Off the wire and right under the bus. Poor, defenseless little birdie.

I don't know if it's the holiday season bringing out the worst in people, but that's what it feels like. That, plus now i'm so... flustered... by everything that's been going on it's becoming a problem just to do my regular job duties. Things just keep getting messed up!

On the bright side, i've been sleeping like a bloody log. Aside from an eye twitch that won't go away, and an issue with my back that's keeping me on advil and heating pads.

Stress really beats people down, doesn't it?

skinnygrlwithin on 12/06/2012:
Yes unforunately stress does really kick your butt... for the eye twitch try drinking more water... I get it on occassion and have heard it caused by dehydration? Not sure how much truth there is to that but water does seem to work.

newme24 on 12/06/2012:
Keep your head up! People can be really horrible-- I work with those kinds of people, too. I try to just go home, think about my family and friends and all the good things in life to take my mind off those horrible, miserable people! (lol)

I had such a bad day at work yesterday, I almost cried when I finally got home. It was awful; I don't easily take blame for someone else's errors - I like things to be done well. When mistakes happen (and they do, and it happens to me too) it's understandable. What isn't acceptable or reasonable is to pick a scape goat to pin it all on. Especially one that covered whatever bases she could cover. Especially when it's me LOL.

So, Yeah. Bad day. No good, very bad.

But I got home and forgot about it for a few hours at least. Today doesn't seem to be going much better, yet, but I have faith that the wrongs will be righted. Or whatever. If not, water off my shoulders. It's all office politics anyways, and I never could appreciate this kind of crap.

We'll see what the rest of the day brings. I am silently "OM'ing" to stay calm. Suprisingly, it's working. Knock on wood.

Monday! Yay!

I forgot to bring my glasses to work with me this morning, so my brain is fuzzy trying to focus on the computer screen and then focus again when I look away from it. Wierd.

So, in between blinking my eyes furiously every 5 seconds, let me tell you about my weekend...

I had Friday off of work, so Thursday night I did nothing and went to bed early.

Most of Friday was spent baking with a friend. And drinking too much coffee.

On Saturday I hosted a bake exchange/gift exchange with friends. We also cruised around town singing carols at people's homes. I wore my Santa hat and another friend had Elf shoes on and carried mistletoe with a bell attached to it LOL; it was pretty hilarious.

Sunday morning was spent trying to wake up. I got to bed close to 4 a.m. so it was pretty difficult to wake up in the morning. But I managed to start moving around 10 a.m. and within two hours I headed over to a trade show in town, where I purchased a cute raccoon toque for my nephew, and a few cupcakes to taste test. To top off the great day, a couple friends and I went out for lunch and I had buffalo chicken breast with ceasar salad - it was delicious!

I spent the rest of Sunday watching the last season of Being Human. One more episode and i'm all caught up. This is the only tv show i've found on Netflix that I actually wanted to watch.

So here we are, Monday morning. I've already divided the baking I received on the weekend into separate containers - one for Grandma, one for a friend of mine, one went straight into the freezer, and one that I brought to work with me. Hopefully I will only bring out the one at home when I have people over. That's the plan, anyways.

I still haven't thought about my to-do list for today, but there are a few things I know I need to get done, so I guess i'd better get going!

Have a good one!

You are so lucky you can get by if you forget your glasses - I don't think i could make it down my driveway without crashing the car :P Sounds like you had a great weekend, good strategy dividing up those baked goods!

V on 12/03/2012:
LOL i can just picture you and your friends out caroling, I bet it was fun :)Hope you had a good day back at work!

My friend has been nagging me to watch Duck Dynasty for months now. Last night I finally got to watch an episode, & I nearly peed myself laughing!

I am having cable re-installed for the winter months. There are not enough books in the world to keep me from the boredom that winter brings. I miss tv, so i'm bringing it back, baby! It'll be wierd to have tv again, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for high speed internet, full cable packages (movies, sports, all of it), and DVR for $19/month. That's for three months, & then i'll either choose a smaller package and continue with it, or cancel it altogether & go back to no tv. Three months will get me through the harsh winter months at least.

The major TO-DO for today is getting groceries. I wasn't able to get sushi for dinner yesterday (dumb restaurant doesn't open until 5pm & I had things to DO by then, man) so i'm going to aim to get it today. I made pasta with mushrooms & brussel sprouts for dinner instead.

Breakfast - coffee & creamer, 6 crackers & 1 slice mozza cheese

Lunch - something from the cafeteria again (yesterday it was a turkey sandwich)

Snack - i didn't bring anything... maybe i'll last until work is done

After Work Snack - 6 crackers & 1 ounce mozza cheese

Dinner - sushi (spicy dynamite roll & cucumber roll are my favourites)

Exercise - 30 Day Shred

Other - more cleaning, groceries, wash blankets

I am taking the day off from work tomorrow, so I may not post again until Monday. Have a stellar weekend my friends!

Great deal on the tv/Internet package! We cancelled our satellite a while ago but still do Netflix so I still get my TV fix, just in minor doses. I hope you have an excellent long weekend!

SarieJC on 11/29/2012:
Yey! 30 day shred is brilliant, I felt amazing last time I followed it. Today was day 1 getting back into it and I know if I can keep it up I will improve loads after a few sessions. Do you do any of her other DVD's?

V on 11/29/2012:
That is a kick ass deal for your bundle package..Just in time to tune into the last 4 episodes of "Jersey Shore" before it is all over :( I will miss my Situation <3 (don't judge me, LOL)

V on 11/29/2012:
P.S. are you doing anything fun and exciting on your long weekend? Have fun :)

inmorning on 11/30/2012:
RYC- I am with you and I can't stand the thing either, though that is starting to change. My husband bought it last year while I was away and I was really upset because he knew I missed my treadmill from when we were still in Hawaii and I felt like he was being a poopoo head but I honestly wouldn't have given it a second look had he not gotten it. I used to hate running too but once I got used to that, I came to love it. So, who knows, maybe you will learn to like too. Maybe while watching your tele shows this winter. :-P Have a great day and weekend.

Another good day in the books. The house is slowly starting to look decent enough for a get-together i'm hosting this weekend. I've been slowly working on it the last two days. The tree is up, decorations are up, presents are (mostly) wrapped and under the tree. The kitchen is half-a$$ed clean, next up are the laminate floors. Vacuum, dust, then mop and buff. Sounds like fun, huh?! Then i'll have to vacuum and air out the rugs in the kitchen and wash some throw blankets for the couch.

And then i'll break to make more strudel. But all this isn't happening today. Oh no. That's way too much stuff.

Today, i'll be visiting a friend, drinking coffee, and watching Survivor.

Cause it's Wednesday. And we've got to celebrate being halfway through the week!

I might even take it one step further and order sushi for dinner. O.M.G. I just started drooling.

Food - mocha, lunch at cafeteria, sushi? coffee

Exercise - 30 Day Shred

Other - vacuum, dust, mop floors; vacuum and air out rugs; dishes; get more water for cooler; put air in tire; make strudel dough x 3

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!

About the insomnia - I have taken valerian root (at Umpqua's suggestion) and it works. I have also tried Alteril (at Sweetpea's suggestion and it's good, too. Hope you get some good restful sleep.

grannyannie on 11/28/2012:
Busy busy!! Have a great day!

RYC thanks! Should be a nice couple of days. It will be cold - mid 30's F, but I've got my Michigan long down coat so I'll be fine.

LifeInATeaCup on 11/28/2012:
mmmmmm sushi, I'm drooling too.... :]

And about the 30 day shred, is it good or do you find it too much or too time consuming?? I was thinking of starting it but I'm very pushed for time at themoment :)

Great day yesterday; got lots marked off the to-do list for the week.

I wish I could take something that would knock me out at night, instead of rolling back and forth and tossing and turning for half the night before actually falling asleep. I don't mean sleeping pills, either. Too bad hot milk and honey doesn't work anymore. Tried tea and milk and that doesn't work either. Any ideas?

Or just take a hammer to my head?

Anyways, whatever. I'll get some things knocked off the to-do list today as well, tired or not. Plus it's leg-waxing night. And depo shot day. So, you know, lots of things to look forward to.

Food - Mocha, extra coffee, sandwich, snack, chicken soup.

Exercise - 30 Day Shred

Other - oh, lots. post mail, doc appt, wax, wrap gifts, vacuum, call about command start.

I'd better whip myself into a better mood if I want to get this stuff done today.

Valerian Root is helpful for a good night's sleep.

V on 11/27/2012:
RYC yep I am off :) Yayyyy!!

getmebackto150 on 11/27/2012:
I know you said no sleeping pills, so I'm not sure if you would count this or not, but the supplement melatonin is all natural and works wonders occasionally when my sleep pattern is off and I need a good night's sleep. You can buy it in the vitamin section at the grocery or drug store. Its great!

grannyannie on 11/27/2012:
Good for you getting things done! I don't fall asleep easily either, but it's recommended that you stay off the computer for a couple of hours before bed (I don't!). I find reading in bed helps me go to sleep quicker but my hubby goes to bed before me and wouldn't like a light on, so that solution is out.

grannyannie on 11/27/2012:
We head out January 8th. It's not a commonly needed vaccine here as it's only for people who travel to certain countries.

biscottibody59 on 11/27/2012:
Hope you get a good night's sleep soon!

Umpqua on 11/27/2012:
Valerian root works for me - I don't take it often but it does the job. I've recently been waking up at 3:30/4 a.m. after sleeping soundly and not being able to go back to sleep - half a dose does the job for me.
