Look at me, posting on a Saturday! Cheers to the new laptop!

So, I forgot that my cousin is in town for the weekend, so my Under $5 operation has changed yet again. I won't get a bagel this morning after all :( BUT, I will get grandma's full breakfast special. What that is, I don't actually know, but I'm fairly sure it will be delicious. And free. This operation doesn't even feel like work; maybe I should save it for next weekend ;)

I had a leftover apple and a package of croissant dough, so last night (at, like 10pm - bored) I made some apple croissants. They smelled good, but since it was so late I didn't try one. I'm going to have one maybe tomorrow, since today will probably be spent at grandma's.

I did a Belly workout yesterday, and today I'm going to walk to grandma's. It should take about 15 minutes one way, so I'm thinking it'll add up to a half hour walk, which is perfect.

Just sipping on a mocha, trying to get the motivation to begin the day :) Cheers!

Operation Under $5 Update:

I made oven-baked potatoes and baked chicken for dinner yesterday and have enough leftover for lunch today. I added feta cheese to the potatoes and Holy Yum was that ever good!

I "accidentally" ate my last slice of bread last night as a snack (bad legcramps), so I couldn't have my planned breakfast this morning and didn't have enough time to think up something else. I will grab something from the cafeteria for breakfast (I have already paid for a $25 meal card there, so it won't cost me anything today but I'll still include it - 90 cents for a breakfast item).

I found some homemade soup I threw in the freezer, so I'll add that to my Leftovers Lunch. Tonight's dinner plan has changed to fish and brown rice with sauteed onions and garlic.

Saturday's breakfast could be an egg and oven baked potatoes because I still have some left, but I think I'm still going with the bagel ($1.39). Now that I've made the decision to have it, I can't seem to get it out of my mind :) I'll try the egg and potatoes for breakfast on Sunday instead of cereal, then I won't have to buy milk.

I will definitely be ready to shop for groceries by Monday ;)

Exercise:

Cross Training is on the calendar for me today so I'll do one of the many DVDs I have at home. I took a rest day yesterday. So far, my shins seems to be doing well, but someone had better knock on wood for me because I'd hate for that to change! After working out today I'll put on my compression socks; maybe that'll keep it at bay.

Work:

I only have a half day of work today yippee! Then I plan on getting fuel then heading straight home and maybe taking a nap. I really didn't want to wake up this morning. Another thing I need to do today is start on my laundry. For a girl who lives on her own, I sure can pile up the dirty clothes.

It's amazing how much laundry one person can produce isn't it? I always see a big difference in the amount of our dirty washing when my daughter comes home from uni for a visit (I think she saves it up for weeks actually )

One more day to pay day. One more day. One more day.

I'm all out of milk, I have one egg left, one slice of bread, no orange juice, and a handful of spoiling lettuce.

Ok, it's not that bad.

In fact, I might just try to get through the weekend without getting groceries.

Today's dinner could be brown rice and baked chicken.

Friday: The egg and bread and lettuce for breakfast and for dinner pasta noodles and fish.

Saturday: I might have to get myself a bagel for breakfast as I've been dreaming of one for a few days now. So there's $1.39 or whatever they cost. I think I might have that in change somewhere in the house. I'll check the laundry room. And maybe burger patties with oven baked white potatoes for dinner.

Sunday: Might have to buy milk in order to have cereal for breakfast. Dinner could be chicken and pasta.

See? I can totally do this (for under $5).

That bagel is going to taste sooooooooo good.

Yesterday I had: mocha, oatmeal, beef burger, soup and sandwich with a chocolatey dessert at meeting, cereal (snack).

AND I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Thank you, thank you! Yes, I'll wait patiently while you print me up a certificate. My name is Legcramps. That's with an L. We'll use V's awards speech, since I don't have my own.

As an aside, the treatmill started squeaking around minute 25 and by minute 28 I could smell something smoking.

I truly wonder how I get through each day.

Crap, now I want a bagel with a ton of cream cheese. Yes, this is trigger food for me. No matter how disciplined I am in all areas in my life, bagels are one of my weaknesses. Its my kryptonite!

Yesterday didn't quite work out the way I'd planned...

I thought i'd go home right after work and do my Dance DVD. However, I needed to stop at Mom's to download a software program for my laptop so that I could access the internet from it. My Mom's computer is quite slow. It took awhile.

When I did finally get home, I worked on the computer for almost two hours! By that time, it was after 8pm and I still hadn't even eaten dinner. I cooked a burger and some potatoes and cleaned up in the kitchen. After that, I wasn't in the mood for dancing, I was in the mood for sleeping!

It is awesome that I am back on the internet though, I've really noticed how much I missed it now that I have it back ;)

Yesterday's eats: mocha, oatmeal, potatoes, beef burger, stuffed bell pepper

Today's plan: mocha, oatmeal, potatoes, beef burger, dinner meeting (soup and sandwich).

It seems when I say I'm going to workout, I end up not working out. So I'm not going to say anything and we'll see what happens ;) meeting should last until after 7pm so not sure how I'll be feeling afterwards.

I didn't want to get up this morning. That might be because I fell asleep on the couch and probably tossed around all night.

This morning I could barely get my body off the couch. Every little miniscule muscle in my body hurts. Even my butt hurts. I tried aspercreme ointment; didn't help. Tried cold rub; well that was just really cold, especially since it's freaking minus 41 celsius with windchill today!!! Like I need to feel any colder!

Honest, even typing hurts since the muscles on my right palm are sore.

This is a warning: Do not EVER stop exercising because THIS will happen to YOU.

Sigh.

Aside from the fact that everything hurts today, I also had to stand outside in... well, you already know how cold it is here... and fix the remote garage door because it wasn't closing properly. Oh yeah, Electronic Equipment, go ahead and quit on me on the coldest day of the year so far. Yeah. Great.

Thankfully, I got it closed. Also thankfully, I have muscle relaxant if things get a little dire. And? I don't have to be outside for more than mere minutes at a time, so the cold really doesn't factor into my day all that much. Only for the few minutes it takes to run to my car.

So, today is actually a pretty darn good day so far!

Yesterday I ate: mocha, oatmeal, baked potato and ribs, beef burger, and a snack of pb sandwich.

Today's plan: mocha, oatmeal, potatoes and beef burger, snack of cereal, dinner TBD.

I'm also going to give the Dance DVD a try today, if I can move.

Oh sorry! Hope you feel better soon! As for exercise bike, don't know why it didn't occur to me to stand on mine. There's not as much change in resistance as a proper spinning bike, but it's still a really good workout.

I feel for you on your pain! I was the same way after my first soccer game in 15 years... Every single bit of me hurt... Even the muscles in my feet that I didn't even know I had... It will be better next time and just keep getting better. I cannot imagine how bad it must be as wally ball sounds much more intensive than soccer... Hang in there!

A little dancing is probably going to give your whole body some movement, just what you need to loosen up those muscles:) Hope you feel better soon. I often fall asleep on my couch, but being only 5ft tall I can actually stretch out from head to toe, so no damage. I have never stayed on it all night though, you must have been really tired. Would you like to swap temperatures for a day or two?

Hello ladies :)

I managed to drive into the city on Wednesday evening, and stayed there until Saturday. Things seem to be going well; now comes the waiting period, another scan, then find out how much help the treatments were and what needs to be done now. Still quite stressful, but I think Dad and I managed to have a few really good conversations about how he's feeling and what he can do to relieve some of his stress about the whole situation. I hope he finds some peace in the next few weeks.

My eating was good while I was away, except for Friday night where I found myself looking for food late in the evening. I went for a walk outside on Thursday because it was so nice out, and went to Wallyball last night. No other exercise; I need to be more consistent with this.

Wallyball was dangerous ;) I managed to walk out of there with numerous bruises and a pulled muscle in my left quad. I cracked myself in the face with the ball (I know, this only happens to me). I was also a great big red tomato about 10 minutes into playing! Bad Blood Pressure (is that what it would be from, do you think?). That was a little embarrassing, but I was not surprised seeing as how I hadn't been getting much cardio exercise in for months now. It will get better.

This week is supposed to be extremely cold, so I don't plan on doing too much by way of outside activity, or even having to go anywhere in the evenings. Today the high is minus 21 degrees celsius, minus 30 degress with the windchill. I'd much rather stay inside where it's warm! So this week I'll likely be tackling the Dance It Off DVD again, and possibly a couple other DVDs I have sitting at home. It's going to be a long week!

Glad you have a good chat with your dad. Don't know if you can blame your redness on blood pressure, probably a lack of stamina from not doing enough cardio. It only takes me a couple of weeks of no exercise to feel like I'm starting from scratch. Have a great day.

Busy day yesterday; work, then had coffee with a friend, then had two friends over to watch Ghost Whisperer. Didn't get any exercise in, but OK considering I was spending quality time with friends :)

I am "supposed" to drive into the city to see Dad today after work, but the weather conditions aren't entirely favorable today. It's cold and, as a friend put it this morning, blustery. Maybe not the best conditions for driving. Will have to see if the roads get icy or if it starts to snow. If I can't get in today, I plan on taking Friday off work and seeing if the roads are any better by then. There's absolutely no reason for me to stress about this - it'll be fine if I can't get there today. Must remember that.

Wallyball is a great form of exercise and I can't wait to start playing. You play in a racquetball court. Wallyball is very similar to volleyball, except - as the name suggests - the wall is live play. Also there are only four people to a team, so it is exceptionally fast-moving. I used to get a lot of bruises ;) and even ran right into the wall a few times. I didn't say I was good at it!

Well, best get to work and move along with the day. I didn't have any leftovers for lunch today, so I brought a big container of cereal. I woke up this morning hungry, so I ate a breakfast of toast with pb before heading in to work. With that and cereal for lunch, i'm really carbing-up. For what, I don't know!

Wow - that's some serious weather you're having! Hope it co-operates with you. Wally ball sounds like great entertainment as well as exercise - aka - lots of laughs. Out of curiousity... how did Ghost Whisperer end? I used to record it & after awhile, I gave up on trying to catch the final episodes becus they never played 'em in any order.

I did a Prevention exercise video yesterday; a Dance workout. I think there are five different dance styles the video goes through, not including a warm-up workout. I got through the warm-up, and the first dance style - hip hop. Oh, I'm terrible at hip hop. I'm glad there was no mirror or open windows. Wow. Anyways, I had to stop during the next dance style, which was latin dance. The whole workout took me 21 minutes. I'm going to keep working through it and try to extend each session a little longer each time and hopefully soon I can do the whole thing which is probably about an hour or so long.

My shins were definitely hurting, and my left calf muscle was cramping a bit. But it was a good start! I still need to make a doc appt to see if they can x-ray my shins; hoping to do that in February.

I haven't been able to see Dad for a few weeks now with the road conditions being brutal and then getting sick. I'm really hoping I'll be able to get up there this week for his last chemo treatment. He's been doing really well lately.

For dinner yesterday I had a baked potato, pork ribs and cooked carrots. It was a great day of eating for me; chicken and macaroni for lunch, a snack of pb and honey sandwich - just really great and the best part about it was that I could taste everything ;) LOL.

I received an e-mail from a friend yesterday inviting me to be part of his wallyball team. Finally, wallyball is back! I've missed playing, and even though I'm sure I've lost most of my abilities on the court, I know I'll bounce back as soon as I start playing again. We're supposed to play every Sunday evening, so at least I'll be getting some exercise in on the weekends through to Spring. I'm very glad I was asked! Plus, I feel like I haven't been very good at the social outing thing lately, and I used to be so involved in everything! So this is definitely a step in the right direction.

What the heck just happened to the first week of 2012? It's like... gone. Already.

That cold I was posturing on and on about last week finally caught up to me. I was out from Tuesday afternoon until sometime this morning when I found that I could actually breathe with both nasal passages. It was a wonderful moment, let me tell you. The last five days was a horrible reminder of what being sick feels like ;)

Anyways, great way to start the new year off, but that's okay 'cause it could definitely be worse than a measly little cold taking a chunk out of my sick time.

The awesome news is that I've been consistent with journalling all of my eats since Jan 1st. Even though there's been no exercise except for laundry and housework, I have written down everything that has gone into my mouth. It hasn't looked so great, especially with being sick.

Depending on how I feel today, I want to run a few errands after work, do some exercise tonight, and clean the living room of all the debris that is left after five days of Sick. I also need to check my budget and start a new one for the next two weeks. Lots to do!

Ah, the lovely holidays are over and it's back to work for this girl.

I managed to stay awake to ring in the New Year at a friend's place. We had a huge turkey dinner and I so wanted to take a nap right afterwards, but managed to join in with the games and didn't get home until 2am. A new record so far this year ;)

I spent the rest of the weekend at home, relaxing and doing some medial chores when it was necessary. I am having a little difficulty getting enough sleep but I'm working on it and hopefully this week will be better. Still battling a cold/allergies so that hasn't been much fun but other than short bursts of rage at not being able to breathe properly, things are looking fine!

I made some 2012 resolutions/goals and I'd like to share them. Okay, here we go:

1) Fitness.

This year, my ultimate goal is to get my shins checked out thoroughly to see if there is any damage and hopefully rectify it if there is. I would really like to begin a running program again, and I want to work my way there slowly. There is an annual 5k run at the end of August that I'd like to take part in, so my goal is to work on my running to be able to do that, which gives me seven months to clean up my act and get moving.

Another fitness goal I have is to continue working on my Fitness Course. I hope to do this by setting out timelines each month to give myself time to work on it.

2) Finance.

I have a goal to pay off some of my debt this year. My posts may touch on this from time to time so that I can record how I'm doing on as regular a basis as possible. I have always worked from a budget, but this year I'll be paying close attention to it so that I can hopefully make this goal.

Also, I am trying to save money to take a trip in August! My goal is to save as much as I can as I am also paying off debt. I may end up using some of my savings for this. Ultimate goal is not to put myself back into debt because of the trip!

3) Accountability.

Another goal I have for 2012 is to have more accountability in what I eat and what I do. I've once again started a paper journal since I don't normally post here everyday or on the weekends. To-Do Lists will be a big part of this and I'm hoping this year won't throw too many curveballs at me so that I can become more consistent with exercise and healthy eating. I do hope to post more online, but that will be dependent on how quickly I can get a new home computer ;)

I have a few things I'd like to do this year with the house too. Some things are small jobs like re-sealing the tub surround; some are larger (insulating the garage). These larger jobs will be dependent upon how much my budget will allow for, and what I'm capable of doing myself as opposed to hiring help.

4) Take time for me.

2011 brought with it a whole lot of grief and necessary Life Changes. I have had a difficult time coping with everything which led me to fall away from some of my goals in 2011. This year, I want to be able to deal with things as they come, since we all know life does not follow my To-Do Lists. My goal is to carve some time out just for me by finding things I can do by myself that won't cost a lot of money and will give me some peace of mind to get through whatever life throws at me.

So there we have it. I truly hope 2012 will bring a little happiness and love into my life. I go into it welcoming the positives and attempting to be open to new and wonderful possibilities.
