Brrr.

Got part of my kitchen cleaned up yesterday. The rest is on today's agenda.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, rice with sausage, crackers, dinner at Grandma's.

Exercise - walking outside over 1 hour.

Other - walk to post; dinner at Grandma's; call about passport pictures; clean kitchen.

It was cold this morning. The temperature was okay, but the wind really did a number on my thighs, which were uncovered except for my thin dress pants. They are still tingling from having gone numb with cold. I think everyone who passed me on the road very much enjoyed seeing my brown leg warmers pulled up to my knees. Some shin pain this morning, I think from willing my little legs to move so that I could get into warmth more quickly. Must remember to wear long underwear.

Progress as of today: 10.5 lbs lost so far, only 9.5 lbs to go!

Weight: 164.5

Yesterday I visited with some family that came for a funeral (the things that bring us together, huh?!) then went home to try out my new runners. Yes, I was going to run. Yes, that would be breaking my plan and probably inviting shin pain into my life.

I plugged in the treadmill. All is good. I started to walk on it. The belt rubbed, but kept going. All is good. I walked for nine minutes, then ran a minute, then walked four and ran one etc. etc. blah blah you probably don't want the details.

At 24:30, the treadmill just stopped. I guess it was tired. I was a little peeved because by this time I was feeling great and just wanted to keep on going forever and ever.

Shins? They hurt in the beginning until about minute 20, and then the pain went away.

Knee? Yes, this was hurting a bit too.

Immediately after the treadmill I did a core workout, and added in some cardio kickboxing moves. Then I foam rolled the crap out of my hips and shins. Ouch. Really, really hurt, but felt so great afterwards!

I was in bed by 8:30pm.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, valentine's lunch in cafeteria, hummus & crackers, leftover beef with brussel sprouts and potatoes.

Exercise - walk to work and back - 60 minutes; whatever else I can squeeze in.

Other - clean up the bloody kitchen, legcramps. you are not a pig.

Progress as of today: 10.5 lbs lost so far, only 9.5 lbs to go!

legcramps - Monday Feb 13, 2012

Oh gosh, I wish I had another day off to recover.

Friday highlights - dinner at grandma's! angel food cake. a surprise visit from a friend.

Saturday highlights - dinner with friends! lemon meringue pie. another surprise visit from a friend. dancing. beautiful gifts and cards. reading birthday wishes on facebook!

Sunday highlight - wallyball. that is all.

Saturday requires more explanation. After dinner we went to the movies (We Bought a Zoo; very cute) then to my dirty house to have a few drinks. A few turned into many, and just after midnight we headed out to the new nightclub in town. There were many more drinks, and a few shooters. One of which was free for my bday and was nestled inside a frozen strawberry. Oh, yum. There was also a whole lot of dancing.

When the club closed, it was back to my place to have deep, meaningful conversations about...

Yeah.

I didn't get to sleep until after 5am. Suffice to say, Sunday was not my best day ever. Monday isn't looking great either. But an extra half hour at wallyball last night and I'm feeling a little more confident about the liquid calorie overload.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, blueberries, alioli, hummus & crackers, beef leftovers on toasted bread, spinach, brussel sprouts and potatoes.

Exercise - lots. as much as possible. walking, core work and kickboxing. whatever else I can fit into the day.

Other - nothing. oh, wash dishes. yeah, I really need to do that.

I feel like I don't need to have a drink for at least a year.

Progress as of today: 10.5 lbs lost so far, only 9.5 lbs to go!

Happy Belated Birthday. What a nice time. When you said your brought friends to your "dirty" house and more followed, my thought was - well good thing you hadn't cleaned in view of all those people coming and messing it up! Hahahah. I like this perspective.

Honestly, I must have been right out of it yesterday. I did some napping, and I did some going to bed early, and I feel better today. But I didn't do a core workout, and I'm not really sure why.  I do sort of dread putting in the pilates DVD, just because I've only been able to get through about 12 minutes of it before surrendering. So yesterday was an unintentional rest day. this somewhat disappoints me, so it will take a great weekend of eating and exercise to bring my attitude back around ;)

I can do that.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, blueberries, brussel sprouts & potato for lunch, hummus & crackers, pizza for dinner, cake & ice cream for dessert. Believe it or not, the pizza was actually my idea (it's not my favorite food), but only because I know Grandma likes pizza and I don't want her to have to cook for me - and I don't want to cook myself ;) Low calories through the day to make up for the heavy dinner. And you can't say no to cake that will be made specially for you :)

Exercise - I don't know what I'll have time for today. I have to do a little walking outside when I take my car in for an oil change, maybe 20 minutes in total. It's cold today, too, so maybe I'll burn a few extra calories while walking ;)

Other - Grandma's for dinner; oil change.

Didja notice that I lost another half pound? DIDJA?

I think Pilates is hard. Mostly, I think because my body is just so stiff and bittle these cold days! I want to move somewhere warm! Congratulations on the loss of a pound! Great sounding foods, too. Have a great weekend.

legcramps - Thursday Feb 09, 2012

Busy day yesterday! I walked to the post after work (25 minutes), then to Grandma's (10 minutes). Had a great dinner where Grandma one-upped me with her dumplings ;) but I have the right recipe for it now, so I'm going to try again! We visited for a bit, then I started walking home. I got about 10 minutes into that when I got a phone call from a friend asking me to help fix their computer. I dashed walked over there (another 5 minutes), had some hot chocolate and fixed the computer, then finally made it home around 9:30pm. I checked e-mails and tried to go to bed, but the nasty brain wouldn't let me. I tossed around for a bit until I finally fell asleep, but I sure wanted to stay in bed this morning.

I didn't get that core workout in that I wanted to, so will try again tonight. Also need to clean the house to prepare for Dad's visit on Saturday. Would rather take a nap. Now.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, blueberries, leftovers for lunch, hummus & crackers, leftovers for dinner. Gotta love leftovers! Especially Grandma's ;)

Exercise - core workout, hopefully will make it to half an hour.

Other - clean house. nap. nap. nap. nap.

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

I decided I wanted to walk to work again today. Gosh darn, I think it was even colder than yesterday! Not much fun. Hopefully it will warm up by the time I leave to walk home.

Budget Update:

January was a great month for me, budget-wise. I put a big chunk of change onto my debt and managed to stay under budget for the month! I saved enough money to cover my oil change this week and my quarterly prescription for Depo. Although i'm thinking about taking February off, giving my body a break, then taking it in March sometime. So I may not get in there to have him see about my shins until then.

This month it's going to be tight. I hope to save a little towards gifts and clothes, but other than that, basic payments on debt only. Since it's my birthday month, I have three outings scheduled that will end up costing me most of my budget. If I can walk to work a few times a week and save money on fuel, it would help tremendously. I need to look into getting new runners and maybe new sweatpants, but that might not happen this month. A birthday gift of money came from Mom, so it might go towards the priority - runners. Runners are so expensive! I also need to send away some documents to renew my passport, and that will cost over $100 all told. So yeah. Tight.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, beans, beef, onions, red peppers, corn and peas for lunch, hummus and crackers, and Grandma's cooking for dinner!

Exercise - walking outside, over 1 hour; core workout later tonight after visit with Grandma.

Other - mail, visit Grandma.

I feel I may be right pooped by the time this week is over.

Tight! but so great that you have a budget and stick to it:) I am a little like - the bank has more money than me!!! Well I was when I was living with my husband!! Now I live on a Disability Pension I have to be a little careful, I am fortunate that I live in a country with a wonderful social security system and really don't have to cut back on very much at all. Need a new car though!! Ummm..... Hope you ended up staying warm and that it wasn't too cold when you walked home, I can imagine that the chill doesn't help your chins:)

Hey!

This whole "waking up in the morning to work out" thing is hard.

I woke up at the early alarm, but I didn't get out of bed until 7:10am. I have to be at work by 8am. In order to walk to work, I need half an hour.

7:15am - bathroom: I wonder if I could get ready fast enough to walk to work.

7:16am - bathroom: Nah.

7:23am - kitchen: I could be totally ready by 7:30.

7:31am - kitchen: Nah.

7:33am - sidewalk: I'm doing it! I'm walking to work! Holy 'F' it's cold out here!

So, obviously my hair is not washed and I have no makeup on. Because that would have taken far too long. And then I wouldn't have been able to walk to work this morning. But then, I rarely have makeup on, so that's not saying much.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha; oatmeal; beef, beans, onion, red pepper, peas and corn for lunch; hummus and crackers, dinner TBD (maybe leftover beef and brown rice)

Exercise - walking outside, at least 1 hour

Other - walk to Mom's; new dog park update for FB; make appt for oil change

I was all happy to be alive and such as I was walking to work this morning, but it's worn off. Funny how work does that to a person.

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

LOLOLOL... I had the same experience but believe me, it's a matter of self-discipline and then it becomes a habit which is very easy to handle. I have to leave home at 6h25 AM every morning to catch the bus to the gym. Ohh, and at 8h05 on Saturdays. :)

Hahahaha!! trust when i say that I was NEVER a morning person, especially working til midnight, when i lived in Chicago, I worked at a 2am(5am on weekends) bar.. That was brutal..Anyhoo getting up a little earlier takes a little practice..It is a heck of alot easier to do when you are doing your"soul mate workout".. I set my alarm for 5:30 and hit snooze a couple of times but my goal is to be dressed and ready for my workout BY 7.. Anyhoo I am sure you CAN do this :) Have a good one!!

You are too funny! I live so close I could walk to work everyday, but I have to leave for unexpected reasons so often it's just not practical. I would have to walk back home to my car. I wish I had a car service for emergencies!

Must be having a good run, another half pound gone since yesterday.

Wallyball was good yesterday. I bought a knee brace because my left knee was bothering me a bit, and it worked like a charm. No pain all night! Not even from my shins ;)

I didn't get a good night's rest though, so I might be powering down around 2pm today and maybe even taking a nap when I get home from work. I'd like to fit in some cardio before that nap.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, oatmeal, soup, hummus & crackers, beans and toast with feta and spinach.

Exercise - Dance it Off DVD - 30 minutes?

Other - nap?

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

legcramps - Friday Feb 03, 2012

Weight: 166.5

I stopped in at the walking track after work yesterday and did 30 minutes of walking. Then I ran stairs for a few minutes before leaving. I felt shin pain again, but whatever. Even I'm getting tired of going on and on about it.

I felt good about the exercise yesterday, but unfortunately overdid it a bit on the calories - almost 1,900. That's still good, I just wish I could've skipped the ice cream in the evening, since this morning my weight has gone up yet again. I'm fairly sure a lot of this has to do with... oh, screw the excuses. I need to work out more. Period.

Speaking of working out more, I think I'll take a rest day today. I've been exercising or trying to exercise every day for the last 7 days, and my brain if nothing else needs some rest. Plus, I'm getting together with friends tonight anyways.

I may attempt to do morning workouts to avoid nights like tonight where I won't have time to exercise.

I watched the movie Conviction last night. Have you seen it? Pretty good; I think I even shed a tear.

Plan for today:

Food - mocha, oatmeal, rice, beef, onion & peas dish, hummus & crackers, soup & toast. NO PM SNACK!!!

Exercise - rest day.

Other - get together with friends.

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

i have a suggestion for your shin pain - try accupuncture!!! i go to a teaching college for it nearby, like a little over a half hour away from my house. it's a little bit of a drive, yes, but since it's a school for it, i get a 1.5 hour session for a VERY cheap rate: $30! that's it! i am lucky though - the two students that practice on me are very, very good. one is in her 50's and her partner is in his 40's. alsothe professor will also come in...and last time they actually lit some chinese herbal medicine like it was a wand and brough it above my abdomen and did some alternative medicine work! amazing. i get very good treatment there, the best, and many times it's THREE people (the ones a mentioned above) doing work on me for 1.5 hours for thirty dollars, no tipping allowed! wow.

i will probably give them a gift or something before the students leave the teaching college. it's like massage therapists, some are great and some just don't possess that special potential or intrinsic quality that makes a person awesome in what they do. i am lucky to have found the pearls.
