You'd be surprised at what I can accomplish in one day... pulled muscles, sunburn, burn myself on a bbq...

Yesterday I noticed a spider in the house. It had crawled into my basket of clean, folded clothes. That basket still sits in the same spot. I'll bet you $20 it'll stay there for at least another week before I come up with the courage to even touch it. That really sucks because I had a pair of sweats in there that I wanted to wear for our first ballgame tomorrow.

Also - I slept on the couch last night because I found a woodtick on the wall near my bed. I wasn't taking the chance that the little bugger didn't jump into the covers as soon as I wasn't looking so I slept slightly crooked on the far side of the couch. (no, I did not try to kill it. i just stared at it for a few minutes, willing it to disappear.). D'ya think I have a phobia?

I drove to work this morning because I was angry with the weather. It's so friggin' windy here it took me over half an hour to walk home yesterday, and it's still windy today. Seriously, the wind literally moved me from one side of the sidewalk to the other side. Ridiculous. I must've looked like a drunken idiot. If only I had been, then it might not be so embarrassing.

Well, now that you're caught up with the Life of Legcramps, let me share my eats and move on with my day:

Cereal with 1% skim milk; Chicken Bacon Wrap on white; 1 slice coffee cake; 1 granola bar; beef burger with potato fries and salad (iceberg lettuce, spinach, broccoli, red pepper and onion).

Today i'm having coffee for breakfast and I brought toast with egg whites and the salad from above for lunch. The chicken bacon wrap was good, but totally not something I should be eating.

I saw pictures of cupcakes on some website somewhere and now I am craving them big time. I've even come close to deciding to start my own cupcake business, just so that I can eat them. It's a sick, sick disease.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 05/17/2011:
The chicken bacon wrap sounds yummy. I prefer to avoid bugs too, but luckily my cats take care of most of them. I hope you are pest-free soon, have a good one!

hollybelle on 05/17/2011:
So are you getting a cat to take care of the bugs? Good idea from Umpqua there.

sweetpea1977 on 05/17/2011:
Cats are good at catching and destroying bugs. I witness their skills all the time. They arent afraid of anything!!

Can I work at your cupcake bakery? I can work in quality control and dispose of the cupcake rejects. ;-)

Saturday:

Yardwork ruled the day. I was going to run but I slept in instead. For breakfast I had a bagel with plain cream cheese and coffee. Yardwork consisted of raking, cleaning out the flower beds, and cutting grass. I snacked on a granola bar at lunch and some snack mix stuff. Then I set up my outdoor patio set. Then I got groceries. For dinner I had leftover cod with brown rice and a PILE of salad - iceberg lettuce, spinach, broccoli, feta cheese and an oil based feta cheese salad dressing. I was knackered and hit the sack early - and then was mad as heck in the morning when I realized that I missed a message from 'A' seeing if I was up and wanted to do something. Damn it.

Sunday:

Laundry, dishes, vacuuming and watching episodes of Cougar Town. Again I did not run, but this time it was because... you're not going to believe this... I pulled a muscle in my collarbone while I was sleeping. Serious. I was up and moving around by 8am, but I took a muscle relaxant and then passed out on the couch for the rest of the morning. I don't take medications very often, so it knocked me right out. For lunch I had toast with jam, an egg white and some brown rice. It was still hurting in the afternoon, so I took another pill and went to ball practice. How stupid is that? After ball practice I sat outside on my deck reading The Dirt and burned because I put sunscreen on too late. Then I decided I wanted burgers on the bbq. Once they were cooked, I reached down to turn off the propane and accidentally touched my arm to the bottom of the bbq. Yowch. I burned my arm pretty badly, but thankfully I can't yet feel any pain. Honestly, I don't think I should do anything on my own anymore. Dinner was bbq'd burgers and another PILE of salad.

Monday:

I walked to work this morning. I have the 5k in two more weeks and I don't know how i'm going to run it. On blind faith, I guess. It will be fun no matter whether I can run it or not. Today I need to pick up and send some mail, and finalize the details of a gift for my sister in law. That is all. I hope.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

Busy busy day yesterday at work, and then a jewellery party last night. Whew, i'm ready for the weekend!

I don't know what the deal is, but I can't seem to get enough sleep lately. It's a huge struggle to get up in the morning, even when i've had over 9 hours of sleep. I'd better do something about this - it seems like the more sleep I get, the more sleep I feel like I need. Maybe i'm coming down with a cold because normally i've been waking up at the crack of dawn and am at least able to pull myself out of bed to walk to work - I can't even seem to do that anymore.

I have some good news. I received my first set of books and materials for the homestudy fitness course i'm taking. So between planting the garden, figuring out a new diet plan for myself, and playing ball and enjoying summer - I will be moving along in the course. I hope! Now if only the warm weather would join in the fun!

Come on, SUN!

My projects for the weekend include: raking the yard (boo), cleaning out the flower beds, mowing the lawn, cleaning the basement, laundry, vacuuming, groceries, ball practice.... ladidadida. Sounds like I might be exhausted by Monday morning ;)

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

thinkpositive on 05/13/2011:
Like the sun! Maybe more time in the sun & you'll be less sleepy? The homestudy fitness course sounds like fun. Nice weekend planned- but you're right, does sound exhausting.

hollybelle on 05/13/2011:
What's the fitness course you are taking? I must have missed info on that. Sounds exciting.

Umpqua on 05/13/2011:
Your plan for the summer sounds good! I could ship my kids off to you if you need extra help getting up in the morning. They won't let you stay in bed ;) Have a great weekend!

Wow, that's a long to-do list. Bet your flower gardens will be real pretty! I like the sunshine gif above! :-D

moogy on 05/13/2011:
Yes, come on sun, play fair. You will absolutely be getting lots of movement in over the weekend if the sun co-operates. Hope you have a good weekend legcramps:)

I can't believe how well we did with the fundraiser yesterday - man, there are a lot of people who love hot dogs even when it's raining and miserable out!

After the day of standing outside in the weather selling hot dogs and explaining the reason for the fundraiser to people, I drew a long hot bath when I finally got home and soaked the cold out of me. I don't think I got it all though, because I sure didn't feel like waking up this morning. Suffice to say, I didn't get up in time for a run. It was still rainy and terribly grumpy weather anyways, so I don't feel guilty about not wanting to be outside. I didn't walk to work either; I managed to maneuvre the car out of the garage so that I could drive it to work. I have no idea how i'll get it back in there... maybe i'll just park on the street for awhile ;)

So obviously I wasn't up and at 'em this morning, but I still woke up early enough to get into work almost 20 minutes early. So I got myself a mocha ;) I haven't had one in so long, I figured it was time to treat myself and what better moment than when I have the time to enjoy it?! Also, it warmed me up nicely and made me feel like smiling this morning when otherwise I may have been a big grumpy mess!

For lunch I had chicken with a salad of lettuce, spinache and broccoli. I am still tasting it this afternoon unfortunately even though it was super-delicious. I think the dressing might be coming back to haunt me. I've guzzled almost 64 ounces of water already, and munched on a granola bar so I should be good until dinner. And dinner will be awesome - toasted slice of rye bread with a grilled sirloin burger and cooked onions topped with a chunk of feta cheese; salad per above, homemade potato fries. No dressing this time - i've learned my lesson. And watermelon for dessert.

I'm definitely a meat-eater. According to the book i'm following, I should be eating more fish. I might try to cook cod for dinner tomorrow, or maybe sole. Or maybe the thought of another leftover burger in the fridge will overtake that daydream ;)

When I get home, I hope I will immediately change into sweats, leash Dog and go for a walk. I think I will need to wear my compression socks as my shins and calf muscles feel pretty tight. No chance of a run for me; it's way too late to think about that. I either get it done in the morning, or it just doesn't happen. I am not nearly as motivated as I should be.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

moogy on 05/11/2011:
You are truely amazing. I am so proud of you. The bath sounds perfect after such miserable weather. Your food is looking great as well. Keep yourself warm, the weather sounds miserable. Shouldn't it be warming up by now?

Our Fundraiser today was almost cancelled because of the weather. It's really windy and cold - looks like it might rain as well. But thankfully, it wasn't cancelled - thankfully because then i'd have to go in to work ;)

So i'm suited up in layers and layers of clothing and ready to get cooking! I know it will be fun regardless of the weather because two good friends will be there and we'll make it fun, because that's what we do.

I was going to run this morning but the thought of being out in the cold for longer than I really needed to be was the deciding factor for me. Plus, I had to ice my shins last night because they were hurting. The little walk to the fundraiser will be enough for me today, and I plan to hit the sack early tonight so that I can get up and run tomorrow. Maybe by then i'll be brave enough to try getting the car out of the garage so I don't have to walk to work on top of running. We'll see!

I was so tired when I got home from work yesterday that I forgot to check if there were seed potatoes at the grocery store. I remembered to go to the store. Then I got caught up with looking for rye bread. Then I remembered again at the checkout. Then I just walked right out of the store without checking. Oy! It's a good thing i'll be there today to check - if I remember to.

Well i'd better get my butt in gear! Those hot dogs won't cook themselves! Have a great day everyone!

The fundraiser sounds like fun, sorry the weather isn't the greatest tho.

I had to stop running for now due to shin splints~ugh. It really sucks, cuz I actually love running and the feeling I get from it. I hope your shins recover quickly..they really hurt dont they?

It feels like these weeks are just flying by... another Monday morning already!

After running yesterday morning, I decided to keep moving around to stay loose so I raked a bit more of the yard. An hour of that, and I was ready to laze-out on the couch for awhile. Damn, I must really hate raking. One hour of raking equals two hours of breaktime ;)

Later on I walked to grandma's for dinner, then home. More walking, Yay! My right hip is sore this morning, but i'm determined to keep at it and so I walked to work again today. Gosh, it's cold out there. Windy and sunless. I will have to foam roll the hip tonight. The hip and the foam roller really don't go well together - much pain, so I haven't been properly rolling out my hip. I'm sure it will feel better once I do.

I have to get through the workday today, and then I have tomorrow off! Scott FREE! I said i'd help out with a hot dog fundraiser tomorrow. I only hope it isn't freezing cold or raining the entire time we're outside selling hot dogs. That would really suck. I would definitely need a big dog to bring me a flask of whiskey if that's the case. This fundraiser is sounding better already.

Anyways, i'm out. Have a good one!

liza36 on 05/09/2011:
I'm with you on the yard work. We deserve a 2 hour break after all that work!

I hope your hip feels better. I'm impressed with your determination to keep at it. Have a good Monday.

nemogirl on 05/09/2011:
What does rolling your hip do, I wonder? Sometimes my hips hurt from excessive walking or running, but I usually stop when it because severe, or it goes away

moogy on 05/09/2011:
I really hope that your hip gives you a break, it does sound painful. I am so impressed that you push through and keep up with your exercise and work around the home. Funny how that raking works like a laze out incentive, funny!! I am hoping for a sunny day for you tomorrow, of course the whiskey is optional!!!!!:)

I went for a run this morning and now i'm showered and ready for the day. Well, maybe a bit of a nap first ;)

Was supposed to have ball practice this afternoon but it's been cancelled - I guess Mother's Day is the priority today!!! LOL, as it should be, but I was really looking forward to burning more calories! Maybe Dog and I will go for another walk before heading over to grandma's for dinner.

Hi!

Dog and I took a nice 4 mile walk today which included a brief stop at the park so she could run her little heart out. I was planning to run, but my breakfast of a bagel, eggs and yogurt kind of ruined that by filling me up too much and making me worry about bathroom breaks along the way ;)

I was worried about getting my car out of the garage because there's still a lot of mud and holes in the alley, so I walked to the grocery store instead - and came back carrying four bags of groceries! That was quite an uncomfortable walk, but I made it. After some laundry and basic cleaning, it was time for dinner.

I bbq'd a burger and made homemade potato fries in the oven. Yum! Sat down with it all and opened up the book from my Dad that is supposed to help me "companion garden" by showing me what plants grow well planted beside other plants. I can't really get into it since i'm no green thumb, but i'm trying!

There's a close-up of my burger. Lettuce, yellow pepper and.... feta cheese! Aside from mozarella, feta cheese is the only other cheese I should be eating according to the book i'm reading "Eat Right 4 Your Type". So two big chunks it was!

Interestingly enough, the book also said I shouldn't be eating whole wheat products because it's hard for me to digest. I didn't know what to replace a whole wheat bun with, so I went with plain white bread. I'll have to figure that out because I doubt I should be eating white bread either. If anyone has any suggestions for breads, let me know!

Hoping for a run or another long walk tomorrow! Have a great weekend everyone!

walking to and from the grocery store... while uncomfortable is great exercise, especially w/4 bags of groceries!!! Hope you have a great weekend!! Maybe rye bread? Rye is a "whole" grain, but it isn't wheat... so there is fiber, but not from wheat... I LOVE rye bread...

Bikiniwax85 on 05/08/2011:
Hey there! Wow, your burger looks yummy :) Try this website out: http://www.healthychoice.com/products/healthy-bread.html

Maybe you'll find the bread for you! :)I will always have my salad with Feta in Olive Oil. It is not really something that I fancy. Somehow, have to live with it eh? :)

hollybelle on 05/08/2011:
Great exercise! Curious why not whole wheat bread? Why hare to digest? Hey this may sound strange, but we sometimes substitute icebrg lettuce for bread on a sandwich. We just wrap the meat (burger, turkey, ham, whatever) in big lettuce leaves and wrap wax paper around it all - kind of peel the wax paper off and eat! Works pretty well.

Well, heck. I weighed myself this morning and it shows that i'm 166 pounds - what?!! I'm going to just let that go and see what next week brings - I feel like i've been doing really well this week but more probable is i'm overlooking something that makes up the two pound weight gain. I'm in a great mood to just power on, so that's what i'm going to do.

A little hectic at work today; I must say, i'm ready for it to be 4pm so that I can get home and zone out. I grilled chicken tenders on the bbq last night for dinner and have some leftover so I won't even have to plan and cook dinner tonight - whew! That'll help with the whole "feeling wiped out" thing i've got going on. I have to do some grocery shopping but I think i'll save that job for tomorrow.

My cousin, who i've been close with my entire life, just graduated from a business course, built a new home with her hubby and their family, and has gone through many, many misfortunes and obstacles in her life. I was so upset to learn that we wouldn't be able to make the drive to celebrate her graduation with her that I decided I must send her a congrats package through the mail. I included a card, candle and some other kitchen items for her new home. She just received it yesterday and sent me a message telling me how wonderful it was to get it. It was so worth the $8 it cost to send it to know that it means the world to her. Must do this more often ;) In the spirit of giving, I also sent a Mother's Day card in the mail to my Dad's wife. They are recently separated and I thought it would be a nice gesture to show her that she is still wanted and welcome in my life. Feels good.

My walk to work this morning was uneventful. I feel some blisters forming on my ankles...

Foam rolled and did my ab routine last night. The crunches are getting easier, thank goodness, but the foam rolling still hurts! But oh, so good once it's been done!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 05/06/2011:
Girl, I hear ya about the unexplained weight gain. Im doing everything I can to figure it out - upping my calories didnt seem to help so it must have to do with either water retention in my muscles or not doing enough cardio. Im not going to let the scale rule my life. Im just to keep doing my best and hope my efforts will show up on the scale soon!

I hope the blisters heal quickly!!

hollybelle on 05/06/2011:
Great attitude to just ignore what the scales says. If you've done OK then a loss is bound to show up soon. There are so many things that can make us retain water or weigh more at any given moment.....good for you - powering on. I liked reading about your expressions of love and goodwill this week. You are wise to plan more of those type of activities in the coming weeks. We can make a difference in someone's life with so little effort, sometimes......it's a shame to deny ourselves the pleasure of doing it.:o)

moogy on 05/06/2011:
Random acts of kindness are some of the most wonderful things we can do in our life. Your friend obviously loved your gift and I am sure that your dad's wife will appreciate it that you thought of her. Look after those blisters sweetie. It sounds as if you are working hard at your exercise routine and seeing success, so yay! for that.:)

Reading yours gave me an idea. I always send an sms to my father's wife on mother's day but today i decided to send her a small gift!Don't worry about this week,i'm same this week but it forced me to exercise 40 minutes exercise everyday! Thanks for your comment and have a good day!

I attempted to walk home from work yesterday but only got halfway when my Dad drove by and picked me up for lunch. We had a great visit - they always end with stories of "back in the day" and all things extraterrestrial ;-) (he's a fan of things unknown). We are planning some road trips in the summer to see some sites where there has been ghostly or otherworldly happenings. Should be fun!

I took a nap after he left and enjoyed that immensely and then had a snack of fro-yo after dinner and called it a night. I didn't wake up until 6:30am this morning, so I must've really needed some sleep. I walked to work again this morning but I really didn't want to. My legs are feeling wiped and my neck is starting to hurt from having to carry my work bag with me. It looks like i'll be foam rolling tonight!

So I delved into the book my Dad brought me yesterday "Eat Right 4 Your Type" and a few things ring true for me: 1) digestive issues, 2) thyroid issues, 3) importance of exercise. Over the next month or so, i'll be working towards following the diet that's recommended for my blood type. I hope to see some improvement, but as should be with most diets i'm not going to expect too much. I'll give updates from time to time and let you know if I think it's working for me.

It's cold and windy today, even though the sun is shining. I'd rather be cuddled with Dog in the blankets than here at work, but that's just my lazy side talking ;-) Hope you all have a wonderful day today!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!
