Positive - One more slo-pitch game tonight - A-Final!!!

So I took that cold medication yesterday morning and reacted to it.  I became woozy and nauseus and Just Not Right.  I tried a different kind of medication after lunch, and by around 3:30pm was feeling much better but stayed at home for the afternoon to rest.

I did go running last night.  After a 5 minute warm-up walk, we ran 1 minute, walked 1 minute, ran 3 minutes and walked to recovery, then repeated.  I couldn't finish the last 3 minute loop, only running about 1 minute of it.  Then we walked again to cool down.  It took about 24 minutes in total.  It was a good start though, and I hope we can kick up the minutes once we've put in the time.

B - coffee, bagel

L - chicken, pasta, veggies

S - I already crave a snack, and it's only 2pm!

D - potatoes and a smokie, if I have time to cook

E - slo-pitch

O - I need to look at my dog to see how her teeth are doing.  It's a bit of an ordeal.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

getmebackto150 on 09/02/2010:
your run sounds very similar to the "couch to 5k program" which is what I did this spring to get back into running... If you google it you will find it easily... I could barely run a minute back in april and now I can easily run 4 miles!!!

sweetpea1977 on 09/02/2010:
Great job on the run/walk exercise! Im sure you'll see vast improvement on a weekly basis, so keep it up!

moogy on 09/02/2010:
I give you great credit for the run/walking. I admire anyone that can run any distance - but especailly if you weren't feeling 100%. Look after yourelf and have a good day.

CoverGirl on 09/02/2010:
LOL that is too true

V on 09/02/2010:
Good luck with the game 2 nite!!!!!!! :)

getmebackto150 on 09/02/2010:
I'm doing a race that weekend too!!! Its on 9/18!

Umpqua on 09/02/2010:
It must be cold season, it seems like everyone is sick. Great job with the running, and I hope your dog is doing OK. My cat had to have a tooth extracted and we had some dark days. Then it turned out everything was fine and he eats like he always did (LOTS ;)

I will refrain from saying much today, as i'm doped up on cold medication and probably nothing would make sense.

Coffee, black with brown sugar

Berry Xtreme muffin

I took a muscle relaxant this morning for the cramping in my calf, and I think it's helping except that body parts keep snap, crackle, popping and I don't know if it's supposed to hurt or not.  Does that make sense?

I went for a short walk last night, 20 minutes total.  Supposed to run tonight.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

liza36 on 09/01/2010:
Colds seem to be going around here, I've caught one myself, although I was not camping in the rain like you! Hope you feel better soon.

hollybelle on 09/01/2010:
Get well soon!

moogy on 09/01/2010:
The snap, crackle and popping doesn't sound too good. Maybe you should just rest and hopfully everything will feel better when you have recovered. I don't think running is going to do you much good if you are taking cold meds. Just have a walk if you feel up to it. Get better soon.

V on 09/01/2010:
i sure hope you get better soon!

legcramps - Tuesday Aug 31, 2010

Positive - I don't have anything to do today after work.

The camping trip was a success, even though it rained for two days and i'll probably catch a cold of some sort.  Our campsite was beautiful and we were able to set up a gazebo to stay out of the rain.  I took my dog with me and she had a blast using up her stored energy to play with other dogs out there and roam around the campsite.

I didn't drink enough water over the weekend and it came back to haunt me around 5am on Monday morning.  I woke slightly and stretched my legs out across the mattress - winding up with a very large, very painful muscle cramp.  I didn't see the exact amount of damage I did to my calf, but I could feel the muscle cramp through the fabric of my pants and it was a doozy - yuck.  I managed to get myself out of the tent and walked it off for about 20 minutes.  I've been limping off and on ever since.  It was a biggun!

Plan for today:

Breakfast - coffee, banana muffin

Lunch - macaroni salad

Snack - ??

Dinner - macaroni salad; boiled potatoes maybe

Exercise - I am supposed to start a running program tomorrow, so I might just take the night off and finish the book I started yesterday.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

moogy on 08/31/2010:
Oooow, legcramps, unbelievably painful, I am sorry you had such a bad one. Your dog would have love playing with the pack. I am glad you had a good trip despite the rain. Keep up with that water, maybe a gentle walk to help stretch out that muscle. Have a good day.:)

V on 08/31/2010:
I know how painful the cramps are which is why i am so adamant about drinking a gallon a day. Oh a good book sounds great :)

Positive - Friday!

Super tired, and I don't care what anybody says... today i'm having a hamburger for supper.

Vet appointment went well enough I 'spose, pain killers wore off too early and my cockapoo kept me up all night crying. Feel so bad for her, think she's feeling better now though. Was close to going back to vets to get a sedative for her. Or me. Either would have worked.

Have to pick up a few things after work for the camping trip this weekend, then visit grandma in the hospital, then pack and stuff, then wax legs.

Plan for today:

Breakfast - biscuit

Lunch - Smokie with brown rice, ketchup

Snack - pepsi (bad me, but so tired. and hurting tooth)

Dinner - hamburger

Exercise - what?

Other - much

*YAWN*

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

moogy on 08/27/2010:
You made me laugh!! A sedative for the bird or you, either would have worked. It gets like that with my grandchildren sometimes!! Have a great weekend and get some sleep!! If the bird permits!!

just42day on 08/28/2010:
Hope both your grandmother and cuckatoo are feeling better. How cool that you have a cuckatoo! :)

Positive - I feel like I might just meet the deadline my supervisors have set for me. That is a very positive thing, as I still am reeling from the thought of losing all that information.

The vigil I attended last night was interesting. It was held by informal and formal groups all across North America. I think, if I remember correctly, the largest group vigil being held in Chicago. My friend explained the individual that was behind the making of the event, and what events occurred in his life to move him to organize an event such as this. Bullying can become such a terrifying thing for young people - and no doubt adults as well. I am proud to personally know someone who is so involved in advocating bullying outreach programs. My friend is truly a compassionate person.

I did not get a chance to see the baby. I will just have to let that go.

I took my dog into the vet this morning; she was due for her shots but I also noticed she was having some issues with her teeth and gums. Did you know that a full dental cleaning here is $200? And if any teeth need to be extracted, it could be a maximum cost of $400? That's going on the VISA, that's all i'm gonna say about that. She was so scared that I almost nixed the whole thing and took her back home. I have to pick her up in 15 minutes; I so hope she's okay.

Plan for today:

Breakfast - mocha, bagel

Lunch - leftovers

Snack - chocolate almonds

Dinner - potatoes and chicken, hopefully

Exercise - slo-pitch

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

V on 08/25/2010:
:( I am sorry about you didn't see the baby! Your poochie will be just fine, I am sure the vet has some good downers

moogy on 08/25/2010:
My grandson recently won a competition because he told his story about bullying and how he overcame it. He won a day with the Austrlaian Wallabies Rugby Union team and got to be the ball boy at an international match. So that would be like winning a day with the World Series winners and being on the sidelines - or similar. Bullying is becoming a huge issue - good for you for standing up and being counted. I sure your dog will be happy to see you - happy creatures!!

Sofia on 08/25/2010:
I hope your dog is ok! Keep us posted.

I like dogs more than I like people,she/he will be so exctied to see you,and get home, and then think of all the cuddling you can do this evening :)

What breed of doggie to you have?

Positive - Haha, caught me at a bad time.  It's mid-afternoon and all I want to do is go home.  But if I had to say... it would be that i'll get to see a good friend later tonight.

Things are hectic.  I lost a week's worth of work that needs to be done by Sept 2nd.  I don't know that i'm willing to commit another week towards the same job.  Grandma went through knee surgery yesterday.  She's doing well, as sharp a mind as ever before, and an even sharper tongue!  Girls' camping trip this weekend to prepare for.  Attending a vigil tonight for the international fight against bullying.  Slo-pitch Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday.  Please, girls, find me a rock I can crawl under.

OH!  And a baby to meet, which I doubt very much i'll get to do since they leave town today sometime and... well... i'm still at work.  I was undecided about going anyways, it's my X's sister and her husband's baby.  Since X and I are no longer on speaking terms, it's a tad bit awkward as you might well imagine.

Plan for today:

Breakfast - banana smoothie, coffee, bran muffin

Lunch - burger and onion rings

Snack - tbd

Dinner - cabbage rolls and baked potato with cheese

Exercise - I'd like to take the dog for a walk today after work.  The poor thing is getting a dental tomorrow morning, so she needs all the attention i'm able to give her.

Other - Bullying vigil tonight.  Then a warm bath.  Then bed.

P.S. - I might be going on a coffee date in the near future.  Look at me back in the game!

Wow, you are one busy lady! :-) So glad your Grandma is doing well. :-)

Umpqua on 08/24/2010:
Good news on your grandma and your potential coffee date. We will want details of course!

moogy on 08/24/2010:
I haven't got a rock - could you use a big blankie and hide in a cupboard. I am glad your Grandma is doing well and keeping you on your toes. I would send you energy - if I had any. I hope you get through your busyness with your diet intact. XX

Sofia on 08/24/2010:
Busy, busy, busy! Just remember to take it slow every now and then and allow yourself an escape. Personally, I like chamomile tea and a trashy book or magazine. I'm glad that your Grandma is doing so well!

V on 08/24/2010:
Grandma's is back!!!!! Happy for you :) I hope you get a chance to see the little one ex or not! have a great week :)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/25/2010:
ooooohh, good luck on this coffee date! I hope it happens soon! :-)

well, those meals sound mighty tasty! keep up all the great exercise, which seems it may be hard since you are so busy lately! but that's a good thing!

legcramps - Monday Aug 23, 2010

Weight: 164.0

Positive - It was a really good weekend.

Friday night went well - the girls did an amazing job with the song they wanted to learn, and the night didn't go on forever which I was very thankful for.  I did some yardwork on Saturday, and took the dog for a walk for about 45 minutes.  Then I went to the church to watch the girls practice.  Attended church on Sunday (which is so lovely to do, even if it's fleeting and not very often) and stayed after for the lunch.  In the afternoon, I went to the park with my friend and her family to help celebrate her parent's 50th Anniversary.  It was a wonderful day, very humid though.  I was beat by the time I got home last night - I slept through some apparently wicked thunder and lightening and didn't even notice.

Plan for today:

Breakfast - mocha, banana muffin

Lunch - cabbage rolls

Snack - blueberries, banana

Dinner - not sure. might try to get together with the girls to plan a camping trip this weekend.

Exercise - slo-pitch, but that probably won't happen because it's raining pretty hard here today.

Other - no other.  I think that's enough.

Have a great day everyone!

Well, you see I switched from Alpo for a better taste.....nah! Just kidding. Puppy Chow is a sweet treat that is quite popular around here. It has melted choc chips, peanut better mixed with Chex cereal and then shaken with powered sugar and it's wonderful! I ate too much of it!

biscottibody59 on 08/23/2010:
Hope you have a good week!

Cabbage rolls--haven't made those in awhile--I love good ones!

sweetpea1977 on 08/23/2010:
Glad you had a good weekend as well as got some good quality sleep. :)

Cabbage rolls - mmm!!

Umpqua on 08/23/2010:
Glad you got some good sleep! The zucchini "fries" are going to be an experiment. I made eggplant "fries" on Friday by putting an eggplant through my fry slicer. Then I just baked them with Pam until they got crispy. They came out great, so I'm gonna try the same with the zucchini. I'll report in on how they come out tomorrow.

moogy on 08/23/2010:
It sounds like a wonderful weekend. That's lovely. Hope you have a great day legcramps.

legcramps - Friday Aug 20, 2010

Weight: 164.0

Positive - it's Friday!  the day i've been waiting for all week!

I am doing so well with sleep (I hope I didn't jinx myself).  7 hours last night.  It is helpful to think about something positive, then I find I go to sleep a lot more quickly than if i'm thinking about something that's upsetting.  I know, it's not rocket science right?! but sometimes we forget how to solve the most simple of problems because we are lost in those problems.

I was disappointed to be kept at home all night yesterday waiting for a call from a friend.  I never did receive a call, so i'm hoping she's okay and just brushed me off - better than the alternative!

Plan for today:

Breakfast - coffee, oatmeal bar

Lunch - ?? I will be near a car dealership at lunch, no time to go home - there's only an A&W around there. Or I could walk a bit and get a sub sandwich and maybe some sun chips or something.

Snack - I forgot to bring anything; maybe i'll pick something up at lunchtime.

Dinner - smokie (no bun) with brown rice. or... not. I don't know.

Exercise - cutting the lawn

Other - I need to help a friend and three others learn to sing a couple of songs tonight.  Should be fun!

I am glad it's Friday, i've had such a week.  I have nothing scheduled for Saturday so far, and an anniversary to attend on Sunday.  Let's hope it's a beautiful weekend!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

V on 08/20/2010:
Thank you for the advice and i hope your weekend turns out great!!!!!!!!!

have agreat weekend!

legcramps - Thursday Aug 19, 2010

Weight: 164.0

Positive - No more ball for the rest of the week!  Practically one more day until the weekend!  Had a great ;-) dream last night that had nothing to do with my past and everything to do with a possible future!  I woke up absolutely giddy this morning!

We won last night - we start playoffs next week, on Monday.  I had one drink after the game then headed home.  Managed to get 7 & 1/2 hours of sleep.  I also did the dishes and cleaned up the house a bit.  My dog needs a walk, and i'm hoping to do that today.  I miss walking her - with all the ball and yardwork I haven't had time or i've been too tired to take her out - I enjoy it though and i'm sure she does as well.  She gets enough exercise in the backyard every day, but I feel that walking her gives us bonding time together.

Plan for today:

Breakfast - coffee, bagel, carrot cake. omg. so good. but so bad.

Lunch - hamburger patty, potato and carrot

Snack - blueberries

Dinner - hamburger patty, potato and carrot

Exercise - walk dog

Other - I have a coffee date this evening with a friend to go over a possible joint business venture.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

moogy on 08/19/2010:
You are sounding very positive today legcramps, it is lovely to read. I hope that you have a lovely day and get that dog out for a walk. It is nice to have a good dream, it does tend to put me in a good mood to start the day off as well.

Maria7 on 08/19/2010:
A joint business venture...???

Your menu looks real good! :-)

just42day on 08/19/2010:
Congrats on winning the game and having a positive, pleasant dreams. I sure your dog would love a walk at your convenience. Aren't animals the best? I go to a local printer not only because it's local but because the owner always has his dog on site and it's so great to be greeted by a wagging tail. :)

legcramps - Wednesday Aug 18, 2010

Damn I had a good day yesterday.  I made the appts I needed to make.  After work I bought another tap for the bathroom tub.  45 minutes later it was installed.  It probably should have only taken 10 minutes but i'm not competitive like that.  No really, it has nothing to do with the fact that I had no idea what I was doing.  Then I played ball.  I hurt my back trying to "grip it and rip it" as told by a teammate.  Instead of going out for drinks so that I could complain about my back to everyone, I went straight home and took a nice warm bath.  I had no problems sleeping last night, after only a short while of tossing and turning, I landed at least 8 hours of sleep.

Positive - One more day of ball this week.  One more day.  One more.  One.

Plan for today:

Breakfast - coffee, bun with peanut butter

Lunch - homemade pizza (on english muffin) X 2

Snack - blueberries, might try some tea this afternoon

Dinner - fruit smoothie, maybe a hamburger patty with rice

Exercise - slo-pitch

Other - I did so well getting everything done yesterday that i'm thinking I should reward myself tonight by not making a to-do list.  The only thing i'd like to see myself do is dishes.  Oh and light cleaning.  And maybe I could fix my VCR clock.  Huh.  Look at that.  Looks like a to-do list to me...

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

Excellent--hope it's a trend for you! Here's to no aftereffects of your back injury!!!
