Hi Lovelies!!

Wow, it has been so long that I even forgot my user name:(

HOP's Birthday reminded me how much I love all of you and miss you more.  Just wanted to check in and say I am loving life and hope you are too.  Seth and I got married this year in April and it was the best day ever.  Full of love, happiness and peace just as I had dreamed it.  Things are going great with us, I am very lucky!

We are still living in my condo and we are looking for houses which has been a ton of fun but kind of frustrating at the same time.  The housing market is crazy where we live and the good ones are flying off the market: sometimes in one day!  Luckily we dont have to move any time soon, but it kind of makes us feel like we are getting nowhere when everything we love immediately goes under contract.

I am still working at the same company - it will be my 2 year anniversary there soon.  I have had a really stressful but fun year and have had some successes along the way.  I have had 2 promotions since I have been at the company and there is a lot of opportunity to move forward.  I try not to get caught up in my work too much and realize that these things in life are so impermanent.  And the true stuff of life is family, friends and health:)  I remind myself of that daily.

In terms of eating and exercise, I am the most balanced I think I have ever been in my life.  I have a great relationship with food - I eat everything in moderation, exercise moderately and enjoy eating out and having a good time.  I may not be "skinny" as ever, but I feel really healthy and never have the urge to binge.  It's kind of amazing really.

I have been going to some new classes like barre, spin and blast all of which I love.  I still do my yoga and light cardio, but trying to just rest as much as I can as well.

I miss you a bunch and glad to see you are all doing well, persevering with your health endeavors and enjoying life.

Lots of love!!!

It 's so nice to see an update from you and it sounds like everything is going well! Good luck with the house hunting, I'm sure you'll find something soon!

This is really such an amazing post!! I'm so glad to see that you are happy and healthy!! I saw some of your wedding pictures on facebook, you looked absolutely amazing!!

V on 09/10/2013:
Yayyyyy!! So ggood to hear from you and i am so happy that you posted especially the part about having a great relationship with all foods in moderation :) I agree your wedding pics were spectacular you look healthy and radiated love <3 You must keep us updated with the house hunt...Love You girl!!

hollybelle on 09/11/2013:
Great to see your post. Your wedding pics were wonderful and I am so glad your wedding was like you dreamed and everything is turning out well for you and Seth. Great that you are achieving the balance with food! Always a good thing! Don't lose touch!

grumpy on 09/11/2013:
i already said congrats on your wedding and your pictures are just gorgeous. As for your relationship with food, I am very happy to hear and you look more beautiful than ever to me. I think it all comes down with being happy, right? I am super happy too, but I still havent found my balance with food. I am happier than ever, though, so I trust it will come. xoxo

Horn_Of_Plenty on 09/13/2013:
glad to hear of your career successes! that is great :-D and so important in life. oh, and thanks for the bday wishes here & on fb! it's good to have friends in far (but it feels so close!) places! truth is, it is VERY important to find that balance/moderate way of living. I still struggle 100% with it. luckily, i love veggies, so a lot of my overeating includes them...which is still not a good thing in terms of digestion, but helps to cut down a ton of calories compared if i had overeaten the same volume on high calorie food...like breads, cookies, pastas, and other higher cal things.

in terms of exercise, once i turned 30 it seemed harder, now at 31, i can feel myself slowing, but i am trying to beat that, and forge ahead!

wishing you the very best & glad to see a post from you! happy friday!

Hello All - Happy Hump Day,

It's been a rather crazy and stressful week at work so far - working from 9a-7:30p Mon and Tues on a high profile pitch for a big client.  Working with new tools (like spreadsheets that price and staff a million$+ project) are keeping my brain extremely busy and running around like crazy.

I havent had the time to workout since Sunday, which is unusual for me - but with the time change, it's been hard for me to get up at my usual 6:30a.  I guess it will be good for the ol' metabolism to get a rest and then start up again!

I did a few lunges, squats and pushups this morning along with some light yoga and meditation to at least get the blood pumping.  Tomorrow, I plan to get back to my normal schedule of cardio in the AM and then yoga Fridays followed by a session with my trainer on Sunday.

Here's the meal plan for today!

B - amazing overnight oats in a jar (a recipe i found on one of my food "porn" blogs;) - take an almost empty nut-butter jar, add 1/3 cup raw oats, 1/3 cup greek yogurt, 1/3 cup milk of your choice.  Let it "marinate" overnight.  The oatmeal is incredibly doughy in the morning and it's a great summer alternative to hot oats.  I usually add blueberries, raspberries, more nut butter;) sometimes sprinkles, flax seeds, etc. to make it more fun!! SO good.

L - huge salad - arugula, steamed broccoli, carrots, celery, leftover grilled chicken, 1/2 cup black beans.  with some flax crackers and swiss cheese

Dessert - 1 oz trader joes dark chocolate (gotta have it;)

S- smoothie - spinach, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 1 cup milk, squirt of honey and some bee pollen

D- going out with a friend to dinner tonight - probably a sushi roll of sorts, a salad and some edamame

Have a great day! xoxo

Kenpo is my absolute favorite cardio class. I love love love it and I'm scouting at local martial arts classes for myself and eventually parent-kid classes for Jake because of it! Freelancing is going well, over the past month I've been picking up more work and I'm going to try to make a go of doing it full time eventually when the boys are in school. Jake starts kindergarten in the fall but I'll still have Nate for another year so I'm not rushing it :)

I'm glad you're enjoying your new job so much, even if things are a little crazy now. Your foods all sound wonderful as per usual!!

hollybelle on 03/14/2012:
Oh I have missed seeing your menus! Inspires me to make healthier choices. My food choices have sometimes been in the crapper (I apologize for the expression!!!) for about 4 months now. Sometimes they have been OK, though. I'll tell daughter to feel free to consult with you on any Yoga related issues! This is her website, in case you want to check it out - I don't know if I showed this before - if so never mind - I am such a MOM! http://www.theturbokickchick.com/

Kati on 03/14/2012:
rellow!!! :) WoW, work challenge! I'd like to feel that again, too... crazy is good, stressful is challenging, but as long as it doesn't become "boring" or "frustrating", you're good! :)

legcramps on 03/14/2012:
I do overnight oats with my remaining peanut butter jar ;) it's awesome and such an easy breakfast.

sweetpea1977 on 03/14/2012:
I love P90X. I am doing the "Leans" program which is basically means you only do two weight training classes twice per week. The rest is cardio, ab, core, stretch, and yoga. I pretty much love all of it, especially the weight training, ab ripper, and Kenpo. My least favorite class is the 90 minute yoga class. Do normal yoga classes last that long? Just curious!

Anyway, if I like how I feel at the end of 90 days, I will probably do another round following the "classic" schedule (weight training 3x/week). Fingers crossed that I'll be able to finish up with Doubles (AM and PM workouts most days of the week). :)

Im still doing gym work too, so I have to make sure both schedules mesh well with each other.

Im so happy you're posting again! I've missed you so much!

moogy on 03/14/2012:
Busy lady, I can understand why your head is in a whirl! When ever I eat my porridge I always think of my Scottish aunt who thought that we English children where whimps because we would have our oats made with water and salt!!! Eekk! My cousins did and looked longingly at our brown sugar and milk:) LOL Hope you are able to balance out our work and downtime, I know that make for a happy loveray:)

Hello My Lovely Ladies!!

Wow, I just looked back to my last post, and it has been since AUGUST since I have joined you on DDs.  You have all been in my heart and on my mind a lot:)

So much to catch you up on.

I am loving my new job - it's been 2 months now, so starting to feel a little more settled.  The first few months are always a little rough getting used to new processes and ways of doing things, but I love the people I work with and really enjoy the challenge of working with intelligent people who are all like-minded working for a financially stable company!  It's been years since I didnt have to worry about my company and new business, so that's a relief.

I successfully mentored my first yoga teacher training program and all 30 of my "babies" graduated in late February.  it was an awesome and powerful experience that I will never forget.  I thought I would never have the chance to teach teachers...but I am so awed and joyful that I was able to play a small part in the process of these yogis becoming teachers.

On the house front, I am still decorating and fixing up things here in the condo.  The most recent addition has been my new dining room chairs which will accompany my grandmother's antique wood table:) I love house-shopping, it's so much fun and really great creative release.

Seth and I also have a new "baby";) We bought a cat - her name is Cookie and she is the love of my life.  Coming from a once cat-hater, this is pretty amazing, so she must be pretty special.  She is a "hypo-allergenic" breed, so her coat is curly and very soft.  She does not shed much at all and she is very playful and likes to talk to us a lot.

Finally - what I'm here to discuss - health and wellness!  My health has been getting much better since last year.  My hormones are getting back into alignment after being on a progesterone supplement for the last few months and my new thyroid meds combined with my B and D supplements have really been helping with my energy.

I also started doing personal training with a friend of mine from the yoga training.  She is awesome and totally kicks my bootay!  I feel so much stronger now that I am doing more "hard core" workouts...but still save time for my cardio and yoga routines.

Since I saw my nutritionist last year, I have lost 12 lbs and gained lots of muscle back!  I was 160 lbs when I went to see her last year, so I am pretty much at my goal - number matter much less to me than they have ever so I judge things more by my energy and happiness level.  Oh, and my bingeing has almost completely been gone since July of last year!  I think eating whatever I want, no limitations, has freed me from needing to use bingeing as my outlet for emotional reasons.  I feel full of good, nutritious and happy energy now!  Sure, I have days where I will treat myself, but I do so in moderation and really enjoy the pleasures in life.

I have missed all of you SO much and wish you all lots of love and happiness always.  Cant wait to catch up on all of your posts.

xoxo

I have missed you, too! SOOOO good to see this post with all the positive changes you have made. Glad you have a great new job and awesome news about teaching the yoga teachers. That is what daughter is preparing to do. If she gets her certification on the LAST teacher training she did last weekend she will be eligible to do it. She does PiYo as part of her classes Pilates and Yoga combo....she loves it. I hope to know more about the condition of my hormones :o) soon! Checking thyroid and vitamins as well as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone -I am to the point I think I will just fall over if they tell me all is well. Then, I hope I can AFFPRD the treatment as insurance plan does not cover! We shall see! Thanks for posting! Should we expect to hear from you often? <3 <3

Hello Ladies!

How I have missed you all!  Im really sorry this summer I have been on and off DDs, but it has been a good time for me to wrap my head around things and get some big things moving in my life:)

Health wise, things are still going great.  Since seeing my nutritionist, I have been eating balanced meals between 1400-1800 cals a day and as a result, have not binged in months!  Even with all of the stress going on - this makes me very happy.

I am working on defining and toning - doing a lot of yoga, some pilates, a lot of cardio and lifting weights.  I am considering doing TRX training next.  Super hard workout so I hear.

I went to a new thyroid specialist and he did a battery of tests on me - turns out one of my thyroid hormones is majorly out of whack as are my adrenals and Vitamin B and D levels.  I am on new thyroid meds and supplements for the vitamins I am missing.  It's only been about a week and a half, but I am already feeling less stressed and more mellow!  Hoping the new thyroid meds help me lose these last pesky 5 lbs as well:)

Big news - so V was right on my "horoscope" for this year - I am closing on a condo on August 30!!! It's been a lot of work and a lot of hoops to jump through given the current state of the economy, but it's totally going to be worth it.  I am really excited about getting all of my furniture back out of storage, painting / decorating and moving out of the parents house!! It's been a year and it has been wonderful being with them, but I am ready to have my own space back and my own routine, etc.  YIPPEEE!

Things with work are going pretty well - still contracting with marketing and teaching yoga - ironically the pet-sitting gigs have been keeping me the busiest!  Definitely has been nice to generate some passive income, but I wasn't expecting these services to be so popular!  All I can say is I am extremely lucky.

Love to you all - looking forward to catching up with you.  Wishing you all the best and lots of health and happiness. xoxo

hollybelle on 08/07/2011:
So good to hear from you! Everything sounds lovely. So happy about your new condo, you must show us pics! I am interested to know how you found a new doc. I do not feel any of the docs I have consulted with on hormones, vitamin deficiencies, etc. are suited to helping me find my way back to a well balanced body. I'm doing much better, but still a ways to go! Will be looking to hear from you when you get settled in - if not before. Have a good one!

Umpqua on 08/07/2011:

So glad to see you posting loveray! I have missed you a lot. I am glad that things are going well for you especially with your health and the condo. I take 2000mg a day. Love you princess:)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/14/2011:
I'm so glad that the nutritionist did in fact help you with the binging...of course you should thank yourself, too! What do you eat??? Is your diet similiar to the American Diet of grains the most, followed by meats/dairy, fruits/veggies, and sweets last? or do you have a lot of plant foods you still eat? Basically, what i'm asking is if you eat more grains now than you used to?

liza36 on 09/13/2011:

Morning, Lovelies!

Feeling MUCH better after my day of total relaxation yesterday!  I skipped exercise totally for the first time in awhile and read my new book, watched a movie, took naps, did some chores and just chilled with the doggie.  I was able to cook all of my meals yesterday and take my time - which I love:) and I did have a couple treats here and there (a handful of jellybeans after lunch, 1/2 glass wine with dinner and a hot cocoa after dinner:)  I slept for 11 hours like a baby.  YEE HAW.

Today I have to get ready for the pet owners to come back, so Ill be cleaning and doing laundry this morning.  Then, I plan to take a quick walk and Seth and I are going to an intermediate yoga class at 4p today, which I know will kick my butt!

Wishing you all a fabulous Sunday! xoxo

B- one cup vanilla almond special K with one cup skim milk (slim pickins in the house - would have preferred something g-free or whole grain, but was craving some carbs:)

L- "chef salad" - salad greens, tomato, green pepper, carrots, one hard boiled egg, nitrate-free turkey deli meat and ff poppyseed dressing.  yum!

S- 2 rice cakes, apple slices and 1 tbs natural PB

D- probably a smoothie or protein shake since I have been eating so much lately and will be running around doing a ton of stuff:)

V on 07/10/2011:
It is so good to get well needed rest :) I am sure you feel renewed!!

Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to check in and let you know Im still alive!  I posted the following on facebook so I thought I would re-post here so those of you who aren't on fb could read some about what's going on with me:)

Morning, Ladies!! I hope everyone is doing well. I am doing great - just super busy and for some reason, writing on DDs has been slipping away from me these past few weeks. I am sure I will get back into the routine of it soon:) I have been approved for a loan for my condo so I hope to be closing on something by the fall and moving out!! I have had a few interviews for some new marketing related work and we will see how that pans out....In other news, I am officially on the schedule at Peachtree Yoga (the studio at which I was trained) and I am so excited. There are so many people in "line" to get a class there, so it's really a blessing and an honor to have my presence at the studio now. Goes to show you that you can do ANYTHING if you really want it and it's your passion. I never ever thought I could be a yoga instructor, but now I'm living it!! Check out my bio on the site if you like - oh and Seth is on there too:) www.peachtreeyoga.com/teachers

Plans for the day and the weekend are to get some rest!  For the past two months or so, we have been back to back house-sitting and just getting all kinds of requests for pet-sitting which has been SO much fun, but sometimes it's exhausting packing up and going from house to house and staying in other peoples beds.  It's really great for the most part, so Im not complaining but we came to a new house last night and I couldnt sleep in this bed for anything!! I have a bit of a headache this morning - nothing a little coffee can't fix!! :)

In health news and healthy eating:  I am doing well with my "plan" - I haven't seen my nutritionist in about 6 weeks, but I see her next week to check in so I will let you all know how that goes.  For the most part, I am eating a very well-balanced diet and trying to get all of the nutrients I can as well as including a good amount of carbs back into my diet.  It's a struggle for me sometimes when I want to revert to my old ways of not eating very much at all, but when I have those urges I just think about how healthy my body is and how much energy I have to do the things I love when I eat properly!  An extra 5-10 lbs really isn't that big a deal as long as I am healthy and sane:)

I have been doing a good amount of cardio, inter-mixed with yoga and strength training and I am seeing some new results!  I think the daily meditation practice also truly helps to purify my body and my physical form, so I must keep that up!

Here's hoping for a great, relaxing weekend and a wonderful Friday for all of you ladies who I adore so very much:) xoxo

I am posting a few pics of my potential new condo below!!!

Food for today:

B- coffee / apple+raspberry+granola+yogurt parfait

L- turkey slices rolled in napa cabbage / 2 rice cakes with 2 tbs pesto hummus / red bell pepper slices

S- handful of pistachios and a coconut water

D- black beans, brown rice, avocado slices and soy cheese

Anyways it is amazing and I am sure you will enjoy your freedom :) I have to say that it really is a struggle not to revert, and to maintain a healthy body we MUST give it Fuel and plenty of it(good stuff of course) I am so happy that you are not letting the number rule you!! Congrats again and enjoy some well needed sleep in a familiar bed :)

Hello Lovely Ladies,

Happy weekend to you!! I am excited for a little more of a breather this weekend.  Sitting here at the tire place getting 4 new tires (yay for spending more $$ ugh) and then I'm going to rest for awhile before going to a friends birthday party.

Things are going well this week although the heat is making me feel exhausted.  My yoga practices are a lot less intense than usual and even my walks and elliptical running have been very moderate.  I guess I just can't push myself past a point when I feel this tired.

Hello Ladies!!

It's been a LOOOOONG time again:)  and I've missed you so.

I have been working 10 hour days, house/pet sitting and doing my advanced teacher training and haven't had much time to sit down and do much of anything other than work and sometimes facebook!

Things in the health world are going pretty well.  I got major down on myself this past weekend because I saw some pictures of myself from the yoga festival here in town and I felt that I looked really out of shape and just not healthy.  I was able to talk to a few friends about my down feelings (including a friend who has recently recovered from bulimia) and I realized that a lot of this stuff wasn't really even related to my body or my beauty.  Just some other things going on that were coming out in the wrong way!

Work has been BUSY which is really great because I need the extra cash right now.  However, I wasn't planning on coming in last week and finding out that I would be working 10 hour days!  But it's all good because in the land of freelance work, you take as much as you can while the iron is hot - you just don't know when work will come and go away again.

This weekend should be a little more relaxing.  Moving on to another house / pet sitting job on Saturday and then I leave next Friday to go up to the mountains for another (5 day) yoga / meditation retreat.  It's going to be awesome, can't wait.

Missed you girls and look forward to catching up with all of you! xoxo

B - yogurt, blueberries, bran flakes

L- salad with seared tuna, mango and avocado

S- grapefruit

D- protein shake and a sweet potato

Wow, you've been busy! Sounds like all good stuff though. Pictures can be alarming (they definitley are for me), but it's good to hear that you recognized it was unrelated issues. Keep up the great job!

hollybelle on 06/09/2011:
Thank you for the comment on my diary entry today. It is a good post and I am changing my thinking. Yay! I like what you said above about your thoughts on seeing the picture, etc. I am just (SO) not willing to go back to old thought patterns. I am so much happier now than I was even a year ago, even with my dad being sick (:o() and even with - you name it! Guard the mind - the refrigerator door will guard itself!P.S. If I can help you with planning the retreat (provided we are going to have one - I hope so) let me know. I will be happy to join in the planning. I hope the timing/location will be good for me. I can't come 10/10-10/21 due to my business partner taking TWO WEEKS of vacation during that time. We could be out a few days at the same time, but not a whole week and if I come to FL I'd probably want a whole week. Then again - I may be able to work something out with laptop and smart phones being the wonderful tools that they are!!!) So let's see what works for everyone and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Stay well, Loveray! It's great to know you are doing well!

Umpqua on 06/10/2011:
That's wonderful that you had someone to talk to about your feelings over the weekend. I find that outside negative stuff (of which I've been thrown a lot lately) definitely impacts my feelings and views about myself. It's so difficult to let it bounce off sometimes too, but I feel so much better once I focus on myself and let that outside negativity become an annoying static buzz. That's all it really is anyway. I think I managed to do that yesterday and felt so much better, I'm glad you are feeling better now too! You are so lucky to be going on another yoga retreat!

moogy on 06/10/2011:
I am glad that someone else could reflect to you how you really look, beautiful, slim body, the pictures I have seen of you give a peaceful and calm feeling to me. I am glad that you get to be busy for a while before you go on another retreat, it would be lovely to live in a world that didn't need money but in the meantime it is good you can do things that you like to do and get paid. Have a great weekend loveray:)
