Hello All - Happy Hump Day,
It's been a rather crazy and stressful week at work so far - working from 9a-7:30p Mon and Tues on a high profile pitch for a big client. Working with new tools (like spreadsheets that price and staff a million$+ project) are keeping my brain extremely busy and running around like crazy.
I havent had the time to workout since Sunday, which is unusual for me - but with the time change, it's been hard for me to get up at my usual 6:30a. I guess it will be good for the ol' metabolism to get a rest and then start up again!
I did a few lunges, squats and pushups this morning along with some light yoga and meditation to at least get the blood pumping. Tomorrow, I plan to get back to my normal schedule of cardio in the AM and then yoga Fridays followed by a session with my trainer on Sunday.
Here's the meal plan for today!
B - amazing overnight oats in a jar (a recipe i found on one of my food "porn" blogs;) - take an almost empty nut-butter jar, add 1/3 cup raw oats, 1/3 cup greek yogurt, 1/3 cup milk of your choice. Let it "marinate" overnight. The oatmeal is incredibly doughy in the morning and it's a great summer alternative to hot oats. I usually add blueberries, raspberries, more nut butter;) sometimes sprinkles, flax seeds, etc. to make it more fun!! SO good.
L - huge salad - arugula, steamed broccoli, carrots, celery, leftover grilled chicken, 1/2 cup black beans. with some flax crackers and swiss cheese
Dessert - 1 oz trader joes dark chocolate (gotta have it;)
S- smoothie - spinach, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 1 cup milk, squirt of honey and some bee pollen
D- going out with a friend to dinner tonight - probably a sushi roll of sorts, a salad and some edamame
Have a great day! xoxo
Hello My Lovely Ladies!!
Wow, I just looked back to my last post, and it has been since AUGUST since I have joined you on DDs. You have all been in my heart and on my mind a lot:)
So much to catch you up on.
I am loving my new job - it's been 2 months now, so starting to feel a little more settled. The first few months are always a little rough getting used to new processes and ways of doing things, but I love the people I work with and really enjoy the challenge of working with intelligent people who are all like-minded working for a financially stable company! It's been years since I didnt have to worry about my company and new business, so that's a relief.
I successfully mentored my first yoga teacher training program and all 30 of my "babies" graduated in late February. it was an awesome and powerful experience that I will never forget. I thought I would never have the chance to teach teachers...but I am so awed and joyful that I was able to play a small part in the process of these yogis becoming teachers.
On the house front, I am still decorating and fixing up things here in the condo. The most recent addition has been my new dining room chairs which will accompany my grandmother's antique wood table:) I love house-shopping, it's so much fun and really great creative release.
Seth and I also have a new "baby";) We bought a cat - her name is Cookie and she is the love of my life. Coming from a once cat-hater, this is pretty amazing, so she must be pretty special. She is a "hypo-allergenic" breed, so her coat is curly and very soft. She does not shed much at all and she is very playful and likes to talk to us a lot.
Finally - what I'm here to discuss - health and wellness! My health has been getting much better since last year. My hormones are getting back into alignment after being on a progesterone supplement for the last few months and my new thyroid meds combined with my B and D supplements have really been helping with my energy.
I also started doing personal training with a friend of mine from the yoga training. She is awesome and totally kicks my bootay! I feel so much stronger now that I am doing more "hard core" workouts...but still save time for my cardio and yoga routines.
Since I saw my nutritionist last year, I have lost 12 lbs and gained lots of muscle back! I was 160 lbs when I went to see her last year, so I am pretty much at my goal - number matter much less to me than they have ever so I judge things more by my energy and happiness level. Oh, and my bingeing has almost completely been gone since July of last year! I think eating whatever I want, no limitations, has freed me from needing to use bingeing as my outlet for emotional reasons. I feel full of good, nutritious and happy energy now! Sure, I have days where I will treat myself, but I do so in moderation and really enjoy the pleasures in life.
I have missed all of you SO much and wish you all lots of love and happiness always. Cant wait to catch up on all of your posts.
xoxo

Hello Ladies!
How I have missed you all! Im really sorry this summer I have been on and off DDs, but it has been a good time for me to wrap my head around things and get some big things moving in my life:)
Health wise, things are still going great. Since seeing my nutritionist, I have been eating balanced meals between 1400-1800 cals a day and as a result, have not binged in months! Even with all of the stress going on - this makes me very happy.
I am working on defining and toning - doing a lot of yoga, some pilates, a lot of cardio and lifting weights. I am considering doing TRX training next. Super hard workout so I hear.
I went to a new thyroid specialist and he did a battery of tests on me - turns out one of my thyroid hormones is majorly out of whack as are my adrenals and Vitamin B and D levels. I am on new thyroid meds and supplements for the vitamins I am missing. It's only been about a week and a half, but I am already feeling less stressed and more mellow! Hoping the new thyroid meds help me lose these last pesky 5 lbs as well:)
Big news - so V was right on my "horoscope" for this year - I am closing on a condo on August 30!!! It's been a lot of work and a lot of hoops to jump through given the current state of the economy, but it's totally going to be worth it. I am really excited about getting all of my furniture back out of storage, painting / decorating and moving out of the parents house!! It's been a year and it has been wonderful being with them, but I am ready to have my own space back and my own routine, etc. YIPPEEE!
Things with work are going pretty well - still contracting with marketing and teaching yoga - ironically the pet-sitting gigs have been keeping me the busiest! Definitely has been nice to generate some passive income, but I wasn't expecting these services to be so popular! All I can say is I am extremely lucky.
Love to you all - looking forward to catching up with you. Wishing you all the best and lots of health and happiness. xoxo
Morning, Lovelies!
Feeling MUCH better after my day of total relaxation yesterday! I skipped exercise totally for the first time in awhile and read my new book, watched a movie, took naps, did some chores and just chilled with the doggie. I was able to cook all of my meals yesterday and take my time - which I love:) and I did have a couple treats here and there (a handful of jellybeans after lunch, 1/2 glass wine with dinner and a hot cocoa after dinner:) I slept for 11 hours like a baby. YEE HAW.
Today I have to get ready for the pet owners to come back, so Ill be cleaning and doing laundry this morning. Then, I plan to take a quick walk and Seth and I are going to an intermediate yoga class at 4p today, which I know will kick my butt!
Wishing you all a fabulous Sunday! xoxo

Hello Lovely Ladies,
Happy weekend to you!! I am excited for a little more of a breather this weekend. Sitting here at the tire place getting 4 new tires (yay for spending more $$ ugh) and then I'm going to rest for awhile before going to a friends birthday party.
Things are going well this week although the heat is making me feel exhausted. My yoga practices are a lot less intense than usual and even my walks and elliptical running have been very moderate. I guess I just can't push myself past a point when I feel this tired.
I hope you all have a wonderful and healthy weekend with your loved ones. Looking forward to catching up with your diaries soon. xoxo
B- yogurt, blueberries, 1/2 cup bran flakes
L- lean cusine spa line lemongrass chicken (i usually NEVER eat pre-packaged meals, but this one had near perfect stats and was on sale - needed something fast for the transition with house-sitting today)
S- kashi go lean bar and a handful of dried apples
D- salad with lots of veggies, a sprinkle of blue cheese and grilled tempeh
Hello Ladies!!
It's been a LOOOOONG time again:) and I've missed you so.
I have been working 10 hour days, house/pet sitting and doing my advanced teacher training and haven't had much time to sit down and do much of anything other than work and sometimes facebook!
Things in the health world are going pretty well. I got major down on myself this past weekend because I saw some pictures of myself from the yoga festival here in town and I felt that I looked really out of shape and just not healthy. I was able to talk to a few friends about my down feelings (including a friend who has recently recovered from bulimia) and I realized that a lot of this stuff wasn't really even related to my body or my beauty. Just some other things going on that were coming out in the wrong way!
Work has been BUSY which is really great because I need the extra cash right now. However, I wasn't planning on coming in last week and finding out that I would be working 10 hour days! But it's all good because in the land of freelance work, you take as much as you can while the iron is hot - you just don't know when work will come and go away again.
This weekend should be a little more relaxing. Moving on to another house / pet sitting job on Saturday and then I leave next Friday to go up to the mountains for another (5 day) yoga / meditation retreat. It's going to be awesome, can't wait.
Missed you girls and look forward to catching up with all of you! xoxo

Hi lovelies,
Happy fat Tuesday. Hope you all are having a great morning so far.
It is my last day of sitting here in my friends house - I cant believe I have been here for 2 weeks! Time has flown by...I am sort of not looking forward to going back in to work this morning, but I think it will be fun to catch up with people and get out of my isolated "bubble" :)
Last night a cop pulled me over because my tag was expired:( UGH. I told the insurance company and the shop that was working on my car that if my birthday came and passed I would be penalized for not being able to pay my ad valorem tax. I would have paid the fee online, but they wouldn't let me this year without my emmissions test. AND the shop refused to let the car out of their site to do the test and basically told me I would be fine especially since usually cops dont pull you over the same month as expiration and usually give you a 30 day grace period. Not so for me!! The cop actually was very nice and understood when I presented him with the paperwork from the shop as well as told him that my bday was just last Thursday and I picked the car up late Friday. I had trouble finding a place to do the emissions over the holiday weekend. All that said, I did not get a ticket, just a little bit of a scare at 9:45p...and I will be getting all of that taken care-of today and tomorrow. Hoping no one else pulls me over in the meantime.
That aside, I had a really fun night last night - Seth grilled some chicken-apple sausages and we made watermelon and spinach salad (separate salads) to eat. Then a friend of mine from childhood came over to share some champagne with me - I havent caught up with her in a long time, so that felt really good!!
Hope you all have a great week. Sending lots of love and healthy energy your way. xoxo

Last nights dinner sounded wonderful, glad you enjoyed!!

Kenpo is my absolute favorite cardio class. I love love love it and I'm scouting at local martial arts classes for myself and eventually parent-kid classes for Jake because of it! Freelancing is going well, over the past month I've been picking up more work and I'm going to try to make a go of doing it full time eventually when the boys are in school. Jake starts kindergarten in the fall but I'll still have Nate for another year so I'm not rushing it :)
I'm glad you're enjoying your new job so much, even if things are a little crazy now. Your foods all sound wonderful as per usual!!

Oh I have missed seeing your menus! Inspires me to make healthier choices. My food choices have sometimes been in the crapper (I apologize for the expression!!!) for about 4 months now. Sometimes they have been OK, though. I'll tell daughter to feel free to consult with you on any Yoga related issues! This is her website, in case you want to check it out - I don't know if I showed this before - if so never mind - I am such a MOM! http://www.theturbokickchick.com/

rellow!!! :) WoW, work challenge! I'd like to feel that again, too... crazy is good, stressful is challenging, but as long as it doesn't become "boring" or "frustrating", you're good! :)

I do overnight oats with my remaining peanut butter jar ;) it's awesome and such an easy breakfast.

I love P90X. I am doing the "Leans" program which is basically means you only do two weight training classes twice per week. The rest is cardio, ab, core, stretch, and yoga. I pretty much love all of it, especially the weight training, ab ripper, and Kenpo. My least favorite class is the 90 minute yoga class. Do normal yoga classes last that long? Just curious!
Anyway, if I like how I feel at the end of 90 days, I will probably do another round following the "classic" schedule (weight training 3x/week). Fingers crossed that I'll be able to finish up with Doubles (AM and PM workouts most days of the week). :)
Im still doing gym work too, so I have to make sure both schedules mesh well with each other.
Im so happy you're posting again! I've missed you so much!

Busy lady, I can understand why your head is in a whirl! When ever I eat my porridge I always think of my Scottish aunt who thought that we English children where whimps because we would have our oats made with water and salt!!! Eekk! My cousins did and looked longingly at our brown sugar and milk:) LOL Hope you are able to balance out our work and downtime, I know that make for a happy loveray:)
Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/14/2012:
i MUST try your oatmeal recipe soon! wow!
