Happy Sunday! The birthday party was fun, thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Brunch: omelet, with mushrooms, tomato and onion, no cheese: 325, coffee w/cream 65 total: 390

dinner: 4 samosas (340) cherry tomatoes (50) grapes (80) endive (15) total:  485

and a piece of cake. I did the math best I could, and I think the piece I have should be under 325 calories, so I'm counting it as 400, just to be sure. Making it part of the daily calories, not additional, so I'm not over calories today, just under nutrition lol

total: 1275~1300

Off for a walk and then a nap if I'm lucky!

 

Progress as of today: 24.5 lbs lost so far, only 49.5 lbs to go!

Okay, so I set myself a little goal to be under 180 by my granddaughter's birthday. Which is today. This morning, as Laney Louise (the cat) and I weighed in, I knew I was very, very, very close. So I took off my nightgown and weighed in just my bra and panties. (Cheating? Maybe. I don't care.) I was 179.5. 

I MADE IT TO THE FIRST GOAL!!!!!!

Should I be this happy about it? YES I SHOULD. According to the hateful BMI chart, and I not considered obese. (I word I hate, remember? Sounds like you're being called "a beast.") Nasty judgemental chart!  anyway, for my height 5'5", under 180 is simply overweight. BMI 29.9. Just barely in the overweight category, but hey, I can deal with that. I don't care if I cheated, either.

Laney Louise, on the other hand, is getting chubby.

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) prune plum (25) coffee w/cream (45) total: 220

lunch: party food! 4 veggie samosas (350) 2 chicken thingeys (90) 1 mushroom turnover (42) 2 stuffed mushrooms (90) all amounts taken from the Trader Joe's box lol. no cake or ice cream. couple of sesame crackers (20)(lots of coffee and cream! (60) 2 veggie birdsnests (140) total: 742

dinner:  3 samosas (255), 2 chicken kabobs (90) total: 345

total: 1307 - not the healthiest day, but at least I did not over do. That leftover cake is tempting me, but I'm not going to eat it!

Today is granddaughter's first birthday, so here is a picture of her in her party hat her daddy bought her. Makes me laugh every time I see it!

This is Great news, MG. Yes, you should be very proud. Cute Little Girl. Keep up the healthy livin'. You're setting a good example for all of us. I don't want to leave you with a disturbing mental image but I go just a little bit farther than you do, when I weigh-in on Monday mornings. Ha !

It's a huge deal to get out of the obese category. It's been a long time for me, but still an important milestone. I've never been back there fortunately.

My "official" weigh-ins are ALWAYS in my birthday suit--haha!

Happy Saturday

Allergies have been terrible, so I guess it's back on allergy tabs for me :( Hoping it is just seasonal.

Prepping for a party tomorrow afternoon, so a lot of errands today, in the pouring rain. Fun! At least I have mr husband along to help or I would never get everything done! There will be between 12 and 17 people here tomorrow, and my house is very small, so lots of rearranging. We can do 14 pretty well, so this is just a little bit of a stretch! It will be cozy, for sure!

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) walnuts (90) coffee w/cream (45) total 235

lunch black beans with salsa (150) last bit of hummus (35) piece of chocolate (45) total: 230

snack - treat day! ice cream (250) piece of chocolate (45) apple (70) total: 365

dinner: feeling "splurgy" today, lol 2 oz St Andre cheese (240) gluten free sesame crackers (130) cherry tomatoes (35) total: 405

total: 1235

 Today is "virtual Friday" around our house - mr husband has every other Friday off, so we get an actual weekend this week! gettiing ready for the birthday party Saturday, and hopefully time to work on a couple of sewing projects. 

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) cup of strawberries (50) coffee w/cream (45) total: 245

lunch: black beans with salsa (150) peach (80) total 230

snack: belgian endive w/ hummus (50)

snack: peanut butter - the kind wth nothing but peanuts, no sugar, salt, etc. (210)

dinner: Greek salad (200) cream of broccoli soup (207) total: 407

total: 1142~1150

Expecting 75 degree weather today, but after this, it is supposed to truly be fall-like. Our trees are just starting to get color and it's already October! Looking forward to cozy sweaters, crisp air and a nice fire in the fireplace :)

 Good morning, happy hump day!

Slight uptick in weight this am - just a few ounces, so probably water from the restaurant meal last night. I'm not worried because last time that happened, I dropped over a pound the next day. I used to have a friend who insisted water was a "place holder" for fat. Meaning, when we are gaining, the cells filled with water for a couple of days, then were ready to store fat, and when you lost, the water stayed a couple extra days, in case you were going to gain again. No scientific evidence to this AT ALL, but it kinda makes sense, which is why i weigh every day. Theory being, if you are gaining, even if its just water, you need to watch for a trend, because eventually that water weight seems to turn to fat. 

What actually happens probably has something to do with insulin, but hey, either way there seems to be something to the "water weight". 

Anywhoooo, I'm sticking with the plan.

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) strawberries (50) coffee w/cream(45) total: 245

Lunch: finally going to get the black beans with salsa! (150+25) apple (80) brown rice cakes (54)total: 309

snack: big ol' peach! (87), 2 prune plums (70)

dinner: hummus (50) babaganoush (50) jicama slices (60) sauteed mushrooms (90) caesar salad, no croutons (150) walnut (27) total: 397

daily total: 1138

We all react differently to water intake. Some of us retain more then others. I find I can actually feel myself loosing weight the more water I drink. I retain water but only if I have a high intake of salt during the day therefore I use no salt on anything and avoid salt like a plague. There is enough salt naturally in the items that I find no need to add and I actually have come dislike very salty foods. Have a great day.

I don't equate water intake with water retention, in fact, the opposite is true. The "water weight" I mean is from too much salt - we ate in a restaurant last night, and even though I add salt to nothing, ever, and watch the sodium in everything I eat, restaurant food is usually enough to cause me to retain. That's the water weight I mean. I think drinking a lot of water, like you suggest, is great for us!

 Rainy last night, but finally feeling like fall weather, a good thing too, cause I don't have any summer clothes!

Took yesterday off from walking since mr husband's new shoes hurt his feet - but he got new ones, so we're back to it today!

Nothing else excitng happening around here, just work and a planning meeting tonight. 

Breakfast: egg (80) w/hot sauce (5) 1/2 avocado (175) cup of strawberries (50), coffee w/cream (45) total: 355 

Avocados are high in calories, but they keep me satisfied a long time, and I think my skin looks better when I eat them. They contain all good fats :)

lunch: very small peice of leftover fish (50) grapes (100) endive w/hummus & babaganoush (2tbls each) (100) total: 250

dinner: sauted vegetables (restaurant, and they seemed to have a lot of butter unfortunately (225?) fried egg (150) decaf coffee w/cream (45) total: 420

snack: apple (80) piece of chocolate (45)

daily total: 1150

I set myself some "rewards" but now I set some time goals I would like to hit, as well.

This weekend, my granddaughter's b-day, would like to be under 180 - that would mean no longer categorized in BMI as "obese." What an ugly word.

By the end of the year, under 160, unless I plateau.

By my b-day (April) under 150 - no longer classified as overweight.

And to the "girdle goal" by my anniversary July 23.

Missing these will not be a failure, but just something to shoot for :)

Thanks for noticing! I weigh every day, but I only change the weight when it goes down (cheater!) Most up-ticks are water weight anyway, if I am sure I am being "good." Seems I have so far to go, but at least there is progress.

Happy Monday! The Tigers won yesterday, so that made the day great, along with the weather. I had visitors at the museum and stayed busy all day. We took a walk in the morning, then another after dinner just because it was so nice out and felt lke it. 

Feeling really good this morning, bp was a tick up 134/91, but I know there is always a slight rebound when I mess with the dosage, so I am just keeping an eye on it for the next couple of days. My guess is it will drop again like it did last time as my body adjusts. Meantime, I am being very careful with what I eat/drink and very good to myself. :)

Put together another cute outfit with my "thrifted" wardrobe; a corduroy skirt I altered, a white v-neck and a cute 50's looking cahmere jacket. I think I spent a total of $18 on the whole thing, and that is only because the jacket is cashmere and I "splurged" for that. People donate the best stuff when they either gain or lose weight, I've picked up great bargains on things hardly worn, sometimes even with the tags still on! Guess I'm getting cheap in my old age!

anyway, I'm rambling. 

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) 1/2 large red plum (40) coffee w/cream (60) total: 250

lunch: - well, got stuck at work, and never got to my lunch at all. Total: (0)

snack: 1.5 red plums (120) 

dinner: endve (87) 1/2 yellow pepper (25) hummus (50) babaganoush (50) swordfish wth peanut sauce (350) and rice pasta (210) (total:772)

dessert: 2 pieces chocolate (90)

total: 1231

Well, our Tiger's lost the game, but we had a lot of fun, dinner with new friends and a walk to the ballpark in the glorious weather we've been having here.

I took your advice, biscotti, and have been taking some potassium supplements. They are very low dose, but already I have not had night leg cramps for 2 days, and even with the restaurant food yesterday, my hands are not swollen ths morning, yay!

On another note, I have (finally) learned I cannot have ANY wine. Not even the occassional, once a week glass. my friend's husband ordered a glass at dnner and it looked and smelled soooo good, I had to have one. Well, that was a mistake!

The BP medicine has really "charged" my sulfa intolerance - I'm actually allergic to sulfa drugs, so it is a miracle I have survived on ths stuff as long as  have. So many little problems started to abate when I cut the dose, it took me a while to recognize that the drug was causing them! So now, with the symptoms gone for nearly 2 weeks, I indulge in a glass of wine at dinner, and bam! symptoms are back. I won't go into details for risk of TMI, lets just say they are very itchy and VERY unpleasant!

Anyway, that means no more wine for me! Not that it will do me one bit of harm to avoid it, lol!

With my bp under control, I have decided to cut to 1/4 dose. I need to get the sulfa out of my system as fast as possible. And I don't want to go to the doctor, because she may want to start me on another med, and then I would be starting this all over. But with my BP at 116/80 to 111/65, I don't think I need to worry, and  suspect as  lose more weight, it will only improve. I will of course keep monitoring it.

Sorry for such a long missive, but I wanted to get it all down for my own records, as well.

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) strawberries (75) coffee w/cream (60) total: 285

lunch: salad w/black beans, chicken (400), apple (72) total: 472

dinner: crab-stuffed eggplant (300)

snack: scoop of ice cream (214)

Total: 1271

I too have a sulfa (drug) allergy. Based on a massive case of hives when I was much, much younger. I remember it vividly! I've never had anything even close to it since.

As for wine, I've never been partial to it. I don't get any adverse reactions when I drink it though:-)

Again--congrats--you're doing great! I imagine you'll thank yourself for having a record of things--I go back and read my diary from time to time and sometimes the old entries can be helpful or not--haha!

I am allergic to sulfa drugs, and drank wine for years and years with no problems. So I'm not sure if its the sulfites for what, but its not worth the pain finding out. :)

Got two walks in with the granddaughter yesterday, one at the park, and then after dinner with mr husband. It was a beautiful day here, just a little too warm, believe it or not. I'm feeling better every day, I have so much more energy, and my joints never ache anymore. I took potassium last night, and didn't have any leg cramps! (thanks, Biscotti!)

Off to the ballpark tonight to see our beloved Tigers. I really hope they play better than last night!

Breakfast: 1 egg in olive oil /hot sauce (85) blueberries (82) 1/2 avocado (175) coffee w/cream (45) total: 387 a little high, but its the weekend!

lunch: tomato basil soup (150) apple(80) total: 230

dinner: Greek salad (400) some type of garlic appetizer with beets probably (200, if even that much?) fateful glass of pinot noir, my last! (125) total: 725

snack:none

total for the day: 1342

Going to clean the living room area rug today, and do some mending/alterations on a few items of clothing.

This morning we were playing with one of our cats, and my husband commented on how "wide" she looked lying there on my lap. I was consoling her with, "don't worry honey, I have a fat butt, too." And he looked at me and said, "Not really." What, I don't have a fat butt? He said, "not anymore!" I was laughing and told him, well, you aint' seen nothin' yet! What a great ego boost in the morning! I'm not doing this for him, but it doesn't hurt that he is noticing!

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) 3 walnuts (85 ) 1/2 cup blueberries (41) coffee with cream (60) total:336

lunch: yogurt (90), decaf coffee w/cream(60) almonds (100) total: 250

dinner: salmon (375) quinoa w/parmesan (145) cantaloupe (50) total: 570

snack: apple (80)

total for the day: 1236

Been getting in a good walk every evening after dinner. Blood pressure has been really good, as well. Hands are swollen this am, I seem to be very sensitive to salt now, and I don't know why - he added 1/4 tsp to our salad dressing, and there was very little in the low sodium soup, so it must have been the cheese. Well, no more cheese for me, I'm supposed to limit that, anyway.
