Good morning to all who read this, hope you are having fabulous days!

Breakfast: oatmeal with strawberries (150+50), coffee with cream (45) total: 245

lunch: more of those lima beans (217) with some salsa (40) and cantaloupe (80)  total: 347

dinner: dinner out - vegetable yakisoba (450?), seaweed salad(150), glass of chardonnary (100) and my occasional allowed dessert - probably 500 calories, yikes! total: 1200 - near my daily usual total!

total for the day: 1792, make it an even 1800. Not bad for a splurge day.

Today is mr husband's birthday, so we did celebrate! too much sugar, and too much salt, I am sure, so I kept salt super low yesterday, and will do so today, as well, so I don't blow up like a walrus tomorrow!

Didn't walk last night, as it started raining a cold rain just as we sat down to dinner. But today is pretty and sunny :) Got in a nice walk before dinner.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback, I am amazed how helpful this has been. 

Progress as of today: 18.2 lbs lost so far, only 55.8 lbs to go!

 Weight is coming off steadily, but I'm sure a plateau is in my future! Who cares, I'm losing now, and every pound is making a difference. I just keep visualiing myself with waistline again. When I reach my goal, which will hopefully be somewhere between 9 and 18 months, I will be slimmer than I was before my son was born, but not quite as slim as when I was married 28 years ago! Maybe I need intermediate goals? I know some of you do those? What do you set and what do you use as a "reward"?

Posting food here again today. It may look pretty boring - but I've learned to like plain oatmeal and its cheap and fast to prepare!

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) mixed berries (95) coffee with cream (45) total: 290

lunch: cantaloupe (90) lima beans (217) total: 307

snack: apple 80

dinner: brown rice spagetti w/homemade sauce (462) salad w/homemade vinaigrette (120) total: 582

Total for the day: 1259

I've had a couple of comments about the number of veggies/greens etc. that I eat. I've always loved veggies, but this way of eating has not been my norm over the past 20 years.

It's like stopping a runaway train and diverting it to a new track. I needed to cut the sugar and unhealthy foods and get my life back on track, or I didn't like where this train was headed. The easiest way was to just "throw the switch" and change everything. I went from a bacon and steak and potatoes lover, (never really ate much processed food), to an "almost" vegetarian who eats almost no dairy, and no wheat or sugar. Complete 180.

The veggies taste even better to me now, and I'm exploring lots of new foods and spices. We eat out a lot less now, too, since my choices are more limited, as I don't eat soy products, either.

Strangely, I don't find this diet very limiting, except in the traditional sense of what other people expect me to eat....I like legumes, whole grains, LOTS of fish, LOTS of veggies and almost any fruit. I felt better on this diet almost immediately, and its just improved over the past five weeks. Even my allergies got better! I hope to be off all medications soon.  (I was on 3 meds for BP, 1 for fibromyalgia (which I never took, it made me weird), allergy medication and my DO was thinking of adding something for inflammation.

I now take an aspirin, 1/2 dose of hyzaar, and an occasional OTC for seasonal allergies. I'm just sharing this in case it may help someone else. We're all different, but this has made a difference for me.

Breakfast: oatmeal (150), 1/2 cup blueberries and cup of strawberries (95) cup of tea  total: 245

lunch: tomato/cuke/cheese salad (250) cantaloupe(45) total: 305

snack: leftover roasted cauliflower (60)

dinner: grilled salmon (probably 450 with the dijon sauce. not sure, since I don't really trust the guy I bought it from that it was Alaskan salmon and not Atlantic ), leftover swiss chard (60), total: 510

snack: apple 80

total for the day: 1200. guess this would be a good day to have my dessert, or maybe just more fruit!

 Well, the scale moved positively two days in a row. I need to remember this when I hit the inevitable plateau! Took 2 walks yesterday because it was such a nice day, mowed the front yard and did a little sprucing up of the front garden. I pretty much neglected it all in the heat of summer.

Breakfast - 2 eggs (1 very tiny!) cooked in tsp olive oil, (177), 1/2 avocado (175) 1/2 cup blueberries (45) coffee with cream (45)    total: 442

A little high, but hey, it's the weekend :)

lunch: made this amazing salad, under 300 calories. The guy at the Eastern Market sold me some goat cheese with spices, and said to add it to chopped onion, tomato and cucumber, drizzle with a little olive oil and mash it all together, then spread it on flat bread. I omitted the bread, and it was amazing! (300 for the cheese and olive oil)

snack: apple (60)

dinner: doro wat (chicken stew) (295) along with oven roasted cauliflower fresh (120 with the olive oil) from the market - yum!! gomen (chard greens)(55) total 470)

dessert: cantaloupe: (50)

total for the day: 1322

We did go to the Eastern Market and got lots of great fresh veggies, some eggs, salmon, and meat for mr husband. It's fun to shop there, and you get some good exercise walking around and looking at everything. 

Progress as of today: 17 lbs lost so far, only 57 lbs to go!

 The scale moved in a positive direction, woohoo! I was worried adding brown rice and rice noodles may have a negative affect, but it hasn't seemed to. Needless to say, I felt elated this morning. never thought I would be happy to see THAT number on the scale, but when it's going the other way....progress.

Had a fun afternoon/evening with my little granddaugther yesterday. She's cranky because she's on the verge of walking. She'll be a year old next month. We took a nice, brisk walk together. 

I'll post today's food as it is eaten. This really helps to keep me honest, and make good decision, since I know if I eat it, everyone will see if it's not a healthy choice!

Breakfast: oatmeal (150) berries (95, same combo as yesterday) coffee with cream (45)

 Lunch: leftover fish and kale from last night (boring, I know, but I hate wasting food!) 310 calories

snack: large peach- 75, watermelon 45

Dinner: homemade brown rice baked mostacoilli. I normally don't eat dairy but this has some mozzarella AND parm, so we'll see how that goes! A serving will have just under 500 calories. 

weekly cocktail: rye old fashioned (yum) 150

total for the day: 1370. empty cocktails calories? totally worth it!!!

 Breakfast looked pretty this morning, so I took a picture (silly)

Breakfast: oatmeal 150, 1/2 cup blueberries 45, cup strawberries 50, coffee w/cream 45 total: 290

Lunch: really small egg fried in tsp olive oil (125), 1/2 rice tortilla (75), 1/2 avocado (175), cup of watermelon (50) total: 425

Dinner: broiled parmesan orange roughy,  (253, according to recipe) leftover brown rice (250) braised kale (45) handful of pumpkin seeds (45) total: 593

total for the day: 1308

actually weighed 190 this am, but I'm not going to sweat it - there's no WAY I am gaining, so it's just water, I'm sure. 

Monsoon rains so no walk last night :(. Today is nice and cool, spending it with my lovely granddaughter!

Progress as of today: 15 lbs lost so far, only 59 lbs to go!

I started this healthy way of eating August 4, 2014. This is where I will try and keep track of what I eat on a daily basis. 

This is following Dr. Andrew Weil's anti-inflammatory diet, since my C-reative protein was high (2), vitamins were very low (D and Bs) overweight, and high blood pressure. I also was drinking a LOT of wine every day.

My goal is 130 pounds, and off all meds. I started at 204 in the Dr's office and 4 medications. I am currently taking 1/2 dose of 1 medication. Oh, and my allergies are gone as well. I now drink no wine - cannot tolerate it anymore, and have 1 or fewer drinks of bourbon on the weekend.

This is September 10th. I try to stay under 1500 calories a day.

breakfast: 1/2 cup regular oatmeal, 3 small plums, coffee with cream 285-300 calories

lunch: 1 cup black beans with brown rice and homemade salsa, 1 cup fresh blueberries - 320 calories

snack: watermelon - 60-100 ?? not sure!!

Dinner: brown rice and zucchini timbale w/some parmesan cheese - 425
           braised kale with onion and garlic - 80
           2 walnuts - 50

plenty of tea and water 

day's calories: 1275 (so far)

Progress as of today: 15 lbs lost so far, only 59 lbs to go!
