(anti-inflammatory, per Dr. Weil)
Weight: 165.1

So I have not been very good the past 2 days. I did go for a walk yesterday and the day before, but I have had more "snacks" than I should - they are healthy foods, but still, not sticking to my 1200 calories a day. I really don't know why, I have just been more hungry the past week. I really think it is just my body trying to trick me into gaining the weight back.

I feel like I am in a danger zone. I really need to get on track this week and strengthen my resolve or else this will fall apart and I will lose the progress I have made.

I didn't keep my "fat" clothes. There is no going back this time. I am going back to tracking every single bite like I did in the beginning. Even if all i do is maintain, at least that is healthier than I was, and I can actually get dressed in the morning.

Anyway, I have a whole pot of my vegetable soup, which is really tasty, and has a few beans for protein, so that should make a satisfying lunch.

Breakfast: oatmeal, walnuts, fruit, decaf w/cream ~330

lunch: veggie soup ~250

snack: apple 80

dinner: the salmon i didn't eat last night; roasted cauliflower, maybe sweet potato if I am hungry ~500

total calories:  ~1200

Update: decided to walk home from work today - its just under 4 miles. I guess I don't walk very fast, because, including two stops for shopping, it took me 1.5 hours! At least I got some exercise. I may walk to the library later, too, if I'm not too tired :)

Hope everyone is having a good day. Seems we are all busy and I am inspired by how well everyone is doing. Thank you for your encouragement to me,

Progress as of today: 38.9 lbs lost so far, only 35.1 lbs to go!

If we look at this on the positive side you now can recognize when your straying away from your plan and that is always a good sign. Nobody can take your power away unless you decide to give it away. We all have our little set back and this all it is just keep doing what you are doing and things will get back into place. Wishing you a great day.

museumgirl on 12/09/2014:
You are right, I should look at it that way. I can do this. thank you, I will not give up this time! :)

Yep, I need to refocus. I am halfway to my goal, but I can't quit now!!! Missed your humor and your posts, glad you're back!

biscottibody59 on 12/09/2014:
Good walking. If you find you can do it more often--guess the weather is the wildcard there--you'll get faster easily I'm sure. But you did it, that's great!

Hang in there--no need to panic:-)

Weight: 165.1

Adjusted my stats, since I seem to not see 164.9 again yet. Doesn't bother me, since I have not been that "good" or strict with myself the last 3 days, although I taken some exercise. I am going to be "good"this week and see if I can't get below 165 again, and heading toward my next goal. This is a long, long process, and patience and consistency are the key,but there are going to be bumps in the road (ie, parties, holidays). I have maintained though, so that's the good news.

the scary thing to me is that, right now, I am at a weight I have reached 3 times in the past. At this point, my body starts to fight me. It LIKES to weigh 165. I may stay here for a very long time, which would not be the end of the world, except that, eventually, I start gaining again. So it is kind of making me nervous that I am stagnating a bit here. I do not want to get lazy and start gaining again, not after all this progress.

I ordered myself 2 new dresses, so that should motivate me! I was down to only 1 work dress and 3 pairs of jeans (one of them pretty bad and too large) so my wardrobe was really lacking. I wear my dresses to work 2-4 days a week, so I really need more than just 1! I wear jeans a lot of the rest of the time, but still need decent ones for my closed-days at work. This should get me through the end of January, even if Iose another 10-12 pounds.

anyway, todays food:

breakfast: oatmeal, walnuts,decaf w/cream (300)

snack: apples (160)

lunch: sodium-free chili bean, 1/2 avocado, tomatoes and salsa

dinner: homemade veggie soup (300) 2 thin mints (72)

snack: yogurt w/a little honey (160)

total: ~1290

tonight I plan to make another pot of veggie soup and use up some turnips and limp celery I have in the fridge.

Have a good Monday, everyone! I really appreciate the support from everyone who posts here. Does anyone else miss Raven? :(

I understand what you mean that our body gets use to a certain weight and just wants to stay there. I feel comfortable that weight once I reach it and find it much easier to maintain then when I was at a lower weight and struggling to stay there. The struggle and depriving myself to stay at the lower or loose more was way too much stress that I was not enjoying myself. We are all different I know that I can not be the size I was when I was 30 that is way too much work now but that means a few extra pounds and a simply life that I can live with. Wishing you a good day.

puddles on 12/08/2014:
Sorry about my spelling today not awake yet.

museumgirl on 12/08/2014:
lol, no problem! I know what you mean. If I knew I would stay at this weight, I could accept it, but I think I need to lose more and find a lower set-point, since I keep gaining instead of maintaining when I am 165. I may not ever hit 130, but I really need to keep it under 165, and would prefer under 150, when I am not considered overweight :)

biscottibody59 on 12/08/2014:
My "bugaboo" number was 167--I only got above that (169) once, but I haven't seen 167 for awhile. I hope you get past it and don't need to worry that you'll ever be there again!

Look at what you've kept off, so far--excellent!

skinnygrlwithin on 12/08/2014:
I actually watched a really interesting documentary discussing how our bodies will actually fight to get back to our heavier weight as part of our evolutionary past when food wasn't always a definite. It discussed how in order to get back to your smaller size you'll have to eat less than you used to just to maintain it. I thought it was interesting and kinda depressing all at the same time.

Not recording food for the weekend, although I did track and and did pretty well. Gave myself a free meal at Saturday's party, so I haven't lost any more, but haven't gained, either. We had a fantastic time this weekend, both parties were pretty good and we danced on Friday night. So much fun!

I want to get back to being a bit more strict with myself and get a few pounds off by Christmas.

just got back from a short walk - briskly cold weather, but that kept me moving fast!

Sorry I haven't commented on too many entries lately, actually away from my computer most of the weekend, which was a nice break.

Have a good night everyone,

Glad you had fun. Imagine all those real calories burned off dancing... I envy that. I never learned to dance. But I've always thought people who danced were more in tune with their bodies.

I'm a total klutz, but I still love dancing. Thankfully I have a partner who will dance with me. Good for the legs and heart!

I was 165.3 this morning, but that doesn't worry me - that's what happens when you weigh daily lol. I don't think anyone but me notices 1/2 a pound, When I see where I started, I am still very happy. I may get very close to 160 by the end of the year woo hoo!

Talked to my mom yesterday, she is so happy to be home. She sounds much better, and is not so depressed as she was. Things are looking up for her :)

At work this morning, hopefully for only a few hours. Then a party tonight, so looking forward to that! I was able to order a meal of fish - don't know the sides, but I will guess a starch and a veggie and I can have the fish and veggie. Mostly we are going to network and to see the yacht club. It was built in 1924 (favorite decade!) by George Mason, his firm Mason and Rice, once employed Albert Kahn - (my absolute favorite architect who seems to have designed 1/2 of Detroit), so I am really looking forward to seeing the inside of this building. As an historian and preservationist, and certifiable architecture geek, this will be really cool. who needs food? :)

I digress. Today I am being good, since there is another party tomorrow and I do plan to have a cocktail or 2 tomorrow night, and do some dancing, and maybe even have dessert. So today has to be very very good!

Breakfast: oatmeal w/walnuts, decaf w/ cream: 285

snack: cantaloupe 45

lunch: leftover casserole again 250

dinner: fish, and something????

Have a great day everyone, hope all is well in your part of the world!

Scale is showing numbers I have not seen in quite a while. I may not quite make my year-end goal, but I should be very close. Actually I need to look that up and see what it originally was. I think I sometimes increase my "goal" expectations when things are going well. November I did not lose very much, had a couple of plateaus to work through, but the trend continues downward, so that is a good thing. I gave myself 18 months to lose 74 pounds, so I need to accept there will be slow times and that, as I get slimmer, I will lose more slowly and that is ok.

Sticking with the vitamin/supplement regimen, even got in a walk last night, but my lungs did not like the cold. I will try to walk a little earlier in the days now. I have a dr appt in 2 weeks, and I am really eager to see what her reaction will be to the weight loss. :)

This will be a busy couple of weeks - I have a business party Friday night, and mr husband's work holiday party Saturday night --both are dinners, but at one I was able to chose the fish. The other I could just specify vegetarian, so my guess is some kind of pasta with cream sauce (yuck) hopefully with salad and veggies I can have! I can navigate that pitfall by having some protein beforehand. At least there will be dancing to keep me busy!

Hope everyone is having a good week and not stressing over any upcoming holidays. I love this time of year - walking at night is so pretty with everyone's houses decorated. We live in a predominately "christian" neighborhood, so lots of trees and lights around here.

Breakfast: oatmeal, walnuts, decaf w/cream: ~300

lunch: quinoa polenta w drizzle of olive oil;1/2 avocado,, salsa: 375

snack: walnuts, honey, cup of broth: 350

dinner: quinoa black bean enchilada casserole: 286.

total 1385 - too many calories for the snack, but I was starving!

Thanks for all the kind comments about my mom.

Hello Everybody, I hope you all had an enjoyable and reasonable Thanksgiving.

My mom is still in hospital, but she is finally starting to do better. After her cancer surgery, she has had a tough recovery and got double pneumonia. It was so bad, she had fluid around her heart and it was causing heart failure. She was also very depressed and thought she was not going to recover.

She's some better now, able to eat, and her spirits are better - she was finally believing that she will get better and get back home soon, possibly even this week.

sorry for dropping off the radar, it was just a busy time and a long travel.

Managed to even lose a little weight, even though yesterday was a splurge day. Back home now, and back to business.

Thank you everyone for kind comments. I will try and catch up reading everyone's blogs this week. Hoping to get a walk in tonight, and working on getting caught up at home.

Happy Monday all!

Yesterday got better as the day went on. Went for a walk after dinner, then practiced dance steps with mr husband for about 20-25minutes. We are determined (well, I am at least) that we will be able to enjoy ourselves at the party in December without tripping all over each other. Even if we have to "memorize" a routine. I actually love dancing with him, but I am klutzy and he has no sense of rhythm. We are quite a pair!

anyway, My next goal is to be under 160, and I'd love if that could happen before the end of the year, but since that is just over 6 pounds, and only 5 weeks, it may not happen. I have moved up my dr appointment to December 16, so it will happen on my current insurance (next year's is appalling) and I really want to be able to show some progress at that appt. Considering I was over 200 last time she saw me, I think somewhere in the low 160s should show pretty well that I have this under control :)

Having fit issues with some of my undergarments, so it may be time to invest in a new size. My measurements this morning show a loss of over 2.5 inches in waist and underbust in 2 months, so yeah, probably things aren't going to fit. So today I may look into that, and also get a manicure. Want my hands to look purty for Thanksgiving :)

Breakfast: oatmeal w/walnuts, decaf w/cream: 245

lunch: homemade hummus and salsa with carrot sticks: ~225,

snack: yogurt 210

dinner:baked fish w/parmesan, roasted cauliflower: ~400

Have a lovely Monday everyone.

As always keep up the great work... you really are consistent every single week... that alone shows your determination. You remind me of a woman who used to be on this blog... V... I can't remember how much she lost, I think close to 100lbs... but she was always so consistent and such an inspiration. Keep it up!
