I weighed in this morning and was thrilled to discover that I'm finally under 190!  I weigh 189 now (doing the happy dance)! Nineteen pounds down, Nineteen pounds to go!  I'm halfway to my target weight. 

I got hired last week for a job that is part-time (as needed, really).  I'm grateful to have it but will continue searching for something full-time, with benefits.  Had a job interview today, which I felt went well.  Of course, there will be other people interviewed and the employer will pick the person he feels is best suited to meet the company's need(s).  So, I'll wait and continue searching until I hear otherwise.

My date is tonight (whoo-hoo!)  I haven't been on a date in a long time; this guy "seems" nice but that doesn't mean he is.  Only time will tell.

Anyway, back to the most exciting news, I lost another pound!!!!!!!!!!!!

Progress as of today: 19 lbs lost so far, only 19 lbs to go!

Great news, after months of job searching, I found a job!  The manager at the car dealership where I purchased my truck really liked my personality.  So much so, that he hired me on the spot--without as much as an interview--when he learned I was looking for a job & had previously worked for an auto group. I start today (wish me luck)! 

So many good things are happening these days that it's hard to believe this is MY life.

Had a great food day yesterday and a good workout at the gym.  

I want to tell each of you that I seriously appreciate your support and encouragement.  You know what it is like to battle a weight problem and how tempting it is to throw in the towel when you have weeks where your efforts are ignored by the scales.  Thank you so much for being cheerleaders for me (hugs)!

Finally got past my latest plateau...2 pounds down (yipee!!!!!!!!)  I can't wait to cross over into the 180's.  Going to the gym today with a friend.  I seriously want to be near my target weight by spring.  I do NOT want to spend another spring/summer in jeans or clam-diggers that stop at my calves, because I'm trying to conceal a wide butt, thick legs, and rolls of stomach fat.  The closer spring gets, the more motivated I am to try to stay on track!

Ok, the most unlikely thing happened today; I just have to tell someone!  First, let me say that I (normally) NEVER leave my home without putting on war paint (aka: makeup).  I have a few blemishes that I'm self-conscious about and makeup helps relieve my anxiety about them.  Today, however, I had an errand to run and dashed out of the house without wearing any cosmetics--assuring myself it would be ok. After all, it's only ONE errand, right?  My hair barely got brushed, I was wearing jeans I had cleaned house in, and a sweatshirt. 

Wouldn't you know it, I met a cute guy.  Normally the men I'm attracted to are seldom attracted to me. But today, that wasn't the case.  When I realized this man WAS interested, I thought, "Oh God, here I am dressed THIS way with NO makeup and this guy finds something about me appealing?!" We had lunch and he was so mannerly; we appear to have some common interests.  During lunch, he asked if I'd go out with him Friday. I accepted his invitation. 

My husband died a couple years ago and to be honest, I haven't been on a real date in a VERY long time. 

I have no idea how things will turn out with this guy (no way to predict such things).  But, I admit, I was flattered to get his attention.  This, to me, is incentive to keep motivated and to keep moving those digits on the scale, down! :)

Things have been going well...I seem to be back on track.  My future daughter-in-law gave me a fitness monitor called Fitbit Zip.  It sets goals for me; for example, it asks me to try to walk 10,000 steps a day (about 5 miles) and shows the calories burned, the miles walked, etc'.  At first, I found this fascinating but thought there was NO way I could achieve 10,000 steps or 5 miles per day.

But, that darn thing made me want to try so, I gave it my best effort!

Day 1: 

  • Steps taken = 2448
  • Miles walked = 1.07
  • Calories burned throughout course of the day = 1763
  • Calories consumed = 1130

Day 2:

  • Steps taken = 11,371 (Oh yeah! In yer Face FitBit!!!!!!!)
  • Miles walked = 5.17 (winning!)
  • Calories burned throughout course of day = 2435
  • Calories consumed = 1270

Day 3

  • Steps taken = 11,821
  • Miles walked = 5.18
  • Calories burned throughout course of day = 2441
  • Calories consumed = 1715

This thing really motivates me to try to stay near 10,000 steps or 5 miles each day! I'm burning more calories, and have it programed to help me lose 1 pound a week (will let ya'll know how it goes).

Hi Everyone...I haven't made an entry for a while so here goes.  I have been bouncing back and forth between 191-192 for several weeks.  This isn't surprising however, since I haven't went to the gym as much lately.  In addition, I have NOT adhered to my food plan as much as I should have.  I guess I got too relaxed and lost my momentum. 

Today I decided to renew my efforts!  I went to the gym and had a great workout and stopped by the supermarket to grab fresh fruit, veggies, lean meats, and low-cal drinks.  Made plans to go to the gym again tomorrow, with a friend! My calorie intake has been great today, so far. 

Thank goodness I only gained one pound back before coming to my senses! Feels good to re-dedicate myself to this!

Went to a gathering tonight where someone was celebrating a birthday.  I was offered a piece of cake but, politely declined.  I wasn't the least bit tempted; I'm making progress and being back in size 14 jeans is inspiring.  It makes me feel as if I REALLY can do this! :)

I had a good food day and am finding that fruit smoothies satisfy my craving(s) for something sweet. I am seriously looking forward to spring!!!!!

and if for some reason you really do want cake, have a bite and follow it up with a nice big 1 or two cups decaf coffee and milk - that will fill you up and you will have given into temptation for just a few calories :-) i always do things like this - fill myself up on low cal liquids and air!

Two more pounds down!  

If ya'll recall, I removed all size 14 pants from my closet because NONE of them fit anymore; I couldn't get them past my thighs.  Sadly, I had graduated to size 16 


I've lost quite a bit of weight since then so this morning I thought I'd try the 14s on--the worst thing that could happen? They wouldn't fit.  I went up to the attic, dragged them out and tried them.  They fit, comfortably (doing happy dance)!

I'm so motivated!!!....winning :)

Thank you for the kind words. I know I beat myself up over yesterday. You might just have a plan there with a cheat meal every two weeks. That might just give me something to look forward to and keep me on my meal plan. Thank you for your support I so dearly appreciate it.

congrats on your loss!! haha my breakfast is sexy!! all i do is put oatmeal, almond milk, honey and peanut butter into a bowl - microwave for a minute. then cut up some bananas and mush that into it. Taste delicious and its really healthy!! Usually keeps me full for a LONG tim.

Met with a trainer at my gym last week; he outlined a plan to help me tone up.  Did not feel like  working out at all  today--the weather is wet & dreary...But, my pattern of impulsively giving in to what I "want" is exactly what got me into this position (sigh).  So, I forced myself to follow through. Spent about an hour at the gym, working out; it felt good :)  Here's my food plan for today:

BREAKFAST: 2 servings of egg beaters (60 cals), 3 slices of turkey bacon (75 cals), 2 pieces of toast (70 cals), 1 Tbsp strawberry low-fat cream cheese (35 cals) = 240

LUNCH: tuna (100 cals), Special K Wheat Crackers (120 cals) = 220

SNACK: Fruit smoothie (200 cals)

DINNER:  2 lean pork chops (220 cals),  1/2 c. mashed potatoes (110 cals), bread (100 cals) = 430

SNACK: cookies (234 cals)

TOTAL CALORIES TODAY = 1324

Progress as of today: 15 lbs lost so far, only 23 lbs to go!

I've been stuck, bouncing between 194-195 lately. Though I continued to exercise & monitor calories, my best efforts appeared to make little (if any) difference; it was very discouraging! I knew I'd hit a plateau and would have to be patient.

This morning I stepped on the scales and was thrilled to see I'd dropped a pound! Hopefully, I've moved beyond this plateau and will see steady progress again.
