(Lower Carb with Calorie Counting)
Weight: 147.5

Participated in my first 1 hour Zumba class today.   I worked up a light sweat and got my heart rate up and it was fun!  I need to mix things up a bit to stay motivated with exercise.  Tired now and will be sore tomorrow!  My husband and I are going to the gym near our house after work, too.  I'll probably just ride a stationary bike or walk on the treadmill.  Right now going to sit in the jacuzzi sounds appealing!  My last successful weight loss (almost 2 years ago) occurred because I was working out 20-30 minutes in the morning and 30-40 minutes after work.  I have a desk job and at 58 years of age, I really need to kick things up a notch to have successful weight loss.  Good thing it makes me feel better too!  Thanks for being here - appreciate your kind words and support.

Progress as of today: -0.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

At nearly 56, I am feeling like I need to up my exercise and you are giving me the inspiration to do so. So I thank you and hope that you have a great day, also that your muscles stand up to the requests you are making of them.:)

V on 12/28/2010:
Great job there girly!!!

It's almost 2011!!  Scary how time flies by.  It makes me appreciate one more day and good health, a warm bed and food to eat (but not too much)!  Exercised hard yesterday and was sore.  Out of shape now, but back on track!  Will exercise today and count calories.  I'm using an excel spreadsheet so the computer does the addition for me.  Have a good mindful day everyone!

Progress as of today: -0.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 12/28/2010:
Mindful is indeed the word. Congrats to you on 147.5 this morning! :-) Good on the exercise...just try not to overdo...easier said than done, I know! :-D

panda22 on 12/28/2010:
Congrats on the loss =) Yes 2010 has gone by soooooo fast! Great game plan for the day, have a nice one!

biscottibody59 on 12/28/2010:
Hey there, good to see a familiar name again! Glad you're back--here's to hard exercise--knowing you can do it can make the soreness easier to take!

moogy on 12/28/2010:
I appreciate that word mindful, I am going to use it today, well, probably tonight. Thank you.:)

Christmas over.  Time to get busy!  Worked out at Curves near my work at lunch.  Plan to walk on the treadmill at a gym close to home tonight!  I don't even feel healthy, let alone having all my clothes fit too tightly.  Lots of vegetables and salads in my future.  Will celebrate NY Eve, but otherwise need to get back on the wagon!

Progress as of today: -1.5 lbs lost so far, only 8.5 lbs to go!

moogy on 12/27/2010:
I love the plan and wish you lots of success getting back on the wagon.:)

Umpqua on 12/27/2010:
Great job getting some exercise in!

Maria7 on 12/27/2010:
Wow...that is really good, getting your workout in during your work day! As for lots of veggies and salads, sounds like a really good plan! :-)

teensybikini on 12/27/2010:
Great plan. Stick to it hun. Your not alone with the whole feeling healthy thing. If I even miss one day's workout, my body gets sad. lol. Goodluck. You can do it!

KathyBlue on 12/28/2010:
Helloooo :-) No, I'm not staying away from bread and grains at all. What happens is, I try to eat toasted, whole wheat bread and whole grains, small amounts and I rarely mix. For example if I eat rice, I eat it with veggies. If I eat meat, I eat it with veggies.

merry Christmas!

nita51 on 12/26/2010:
Your positivity will lead you to success. May the New Year bring you tidings of comfort and joy. I cooked a turkey with dressing, cabbage, corn, bought potato salad for my family. I also cooked yams, made with sugar substitute. Everything was nice. Thank you for asking. Hope your dinner was lovely as well.

Woke up this morning feeling disgusted with myself and wanting to choose to do better.  Threw some candy away at home that was tempting me, but not very satisfying.  I knew I would eat it anyway if it was around to tempt me.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 12/23/2010:
Hey there! Better to throw away the candy than to WEAR IT! Better to get rid of it than to feel regret of seeing the scale number keep going up! Especially if it is not very satisfying, the candy. It would have to be EXTREMELY satisfying to be worth the WORK to get it off of you after the few minutes (or seconds in my case sometimes) that it takes to eat it! Hey, just remember you are not alone. I'm over here and I LOVE SWEETS, too! And I'm allowing VERY VERY LITTLE cause I don't want to see the scale going up and I'm counting what I allow in my allowed calories each day. And I'm getting closer to goal doing this, hehehe! You can do it, too! Let's do this together! :-D

OMG - haven't posted for 7 months!  The holidays are killing me with all the food around at the office and I can't seem to stop snacking.  Carbs, carbs, carbs!  They're addicting!  Hope everyone is doing better than me controlling their eating this Christmas!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 12/23/2010:
Hey there! Just slow down... Tell yourself it's okay to 'taste' but not indulge! If you have to, take a very small bite of the temptation and throw away the rest of it in the wastebasket! Don't let your weight keep going up. Get a handle on it now. Limit yourself. Hope you have a nice day. :-)

Just wanted to mention I found some awesome low calorie bagels at Walmart.  The brand is Western Bagel (The Bagel Alternative) and I like the sweet wheat variety.  Only 110 calories and 8 grams of fiber.  Very satisfying.  I had one with my dinner last night with spray butter and put in the toaster oven.  Yumm!  I was tempted to add jelly, but thought my sweet cravings would be lower if I didn't do that.  Worked well!

hollybelle on 07/29/2010:
Oh, thanks! These sound wonderful. I'll check and see if our Walmart carries them.

moogy on 07/29/2010:
It is always nice to find something to eat that fit in with a plan, good move staying away from the sweet stuff!!

V on 07/29/2010:
Sounds yummy and healthy!

Maria7 on 07/29/2010:
What a deal on the calories with the fiber!

Up 2 pounds from my two weeks of overeating and underexercising while traveling, visiting friends/family and my 40th high school reunion.  I'm motivated to get back on the wagon!  Thanks for all your support.  It'll take a couple of weeks to get back to where I was.  Was it all worth it?  (I think not - one day I will get it........)

im in the same place, have to spend some time undoing all the damage ive done.. almost 8 pounds worth! but im ready for it.. hope u have a great day

just42day on 07/29/2010:
isn't it crazy how easy it is to gain 2 lbs but so hard to lose them? I'm sure you'll be able to get back on track sooner than you think! (though I certainly understand your frustration. Been there, done that!)

Regaining my sanity today and back on the wagon!  Eating a healthy lunch and going to the gym after work.  Yeah!

Hey - I was just thinking of you today as I found another chicken w/mushroom recipe. It's called "chicken continental". Am trying it tonight and will post recipe if it's a keeper. Welcome to getting back on the wagon. I'm doing it too! Have great day!

moogy on 07/26/2010:
Sanity is reigning here, that's wonderful. Good luck, I hope you have a good day.

V on 07/26/2010:
Yeah!!! Welcome back :)

Maria7 on 07/28/2010:
Wow, you're doing SO WELL! Good to read your entries again, too. :-)

just42day on 07/28/2010:
Glad you like the recipes. I'm happy to share them as others have shared so many too. Seems silly not to include the nutrional info if I have it -- good to know those numbers. Hope all's well!

Haven't gotten on the scale yet after my week of unrestricted eating and no exercise (40th high school reunion trip).  It brought back a lot of old emotions, many wonderful but some bad.  Also is difficult to see all those old people, when I still look like I'm high school age!  (ha,ha - joke)

My sister had gotten a diabetic diet that one of her co-workers got from a dietitian.  It gives an assortment of 300 cal. breakfasts and 400 calorie lunch/supper and 100-150 cal. snack options.  I started on that today.  I like it because there is a lot of choice involved, but enough guidance to help me eaten normal portion sizes!

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

Moody3 on 07/23/2010:
My 30th renunion is in a few years~Where does the time go??? I hope to make it and if I do, be 60lbs lighter than I am now~

Had to chuckle at your "old people" comment~lol~It's cool that you have stayed in such great shape~We all get older, and don't have control over certain things...like guys losing their hair...but weight is something we definitely hold control over~Good for you for being such a great example of that!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/23/2010:
i think the diabetic diet will be very helpful. 400 or even 500 calories per meal is a good limit. i've strayed away from that, but i agree that smaller meals work best.

KathyBlue on 07/23/2010:
and what's the total she can get per day?

just42day on 07/23/2010:
Yes, I'm always amazed that people haven't aged as well as I have. tee hee. :)

moogy on 07/23/2010:
low gi/diabetic diets are really healthy plus you get to eat six times a day to keep blood sugars stabalized.

V on 07/23/2010:
I am sure you will do well on the diet

just42day on 07/25/2010:
Let me know when you perfect the chicken mushroom recipe as I'm always open for suggestions!
