Progress as of today - 28 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!
Saw the doctor today and he was very happy with my new weight: I lost 4 pounds in the past 2 weeks since I last saw him. Very cool!
Actually, I'm not really too happy about it because I haven't lost anything at all in the past 5 days.... I hope I can do something to kick-start again and move me out of this plateau.
Diet is still similar, 800 to 900 protein cals, except that he upped the total calories to 1000/day.
He also said that if I lose 5 more pounds, I can drop the statins. Yay! So that's my new goal. Also, I have to take two vitamin pills every day.
I hope everyone is doing well!
Progress as of today - 26.5 lbs lost so far, only 12.5 lbs to go!
The American holidays here do not apply to my daughter's school, so yesterday I did have to get up early and make a healthy lunch for her to take to school, as I always do. On the other hand, Hubby gets to enjoy both countries' national holidays.
I've lost a little more, I'm grateful for my trusting doctor and for my family (husband and daughter) that has been very supportive. My daughter decided to go on a mini diet herself and has lost a few pounds! Young people can do it so easily!
As for myself, I had a mini binge last week when I had to make rice puding for a social function that I attended and ended up eating so much of it! All is well, things like this is bound to happen and the secret to continued success is not to give up just because of one failed instance. I did manage to stay on strong at another social function when there was A LOT of my favorite foods being served. I just drank water and talked to people instead of eating the food.
So, I'm guessing I'm slowing down on my weight loss but I'm hoping to lose a few more pounds in the coming week because I'm going to see the doctor again a week after tomorrow.
As for exercise, I've been doing sit-ups aside from my usual shoulder phisyotheraphy exercises, still very painful. My shoulder doctor will be very happy to see I've lost weight because he also had told me to do so... I haven't been going to the gym, yet, but will start it when I reach goal weight and am in maintenance mode. I'm still eating 800cals protein plus small portions of fruits and veggies. Never more than a total of 1000 cals a day.
Stay well everyone!

Looks like you're on schedule--keep up the good work!
I just saw my doctor this morning and he was very happy with the results of my diet! His scale showed that i lost 6.5 lbs in 2 weeks. His scale also shows that I am 159.5 lbs. By the way, the weight above is my lowest when I first get up and without clothes on. He also said that my goal weight should be set at around 143 lbs, so I've changed my goal here on DD. There were no changes in the diet, except that now I can add some fruits on top of the protein and vegetables. Calories should stay around 900 - 1000 cals a day.
The fight to lose weight continues.... I hope everyone is having a good week!
Progress as of today - 24 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!
Dieting has been tough but I'm still going strong. I've been eating about 1.000 cals, no carbs, no sugar. I've been cooking a lot of roasts this week: pork, beef, chicken. Luckily, my family doesn't mind going low carbs either. I always have some cooked rice in the fridge for anyone who is craving carbs, though. What baffles me is how loaded in calories a piece of beef is! The portions are SO small!
I've been doing a bit of exercise, recently. Although the doctor told me to hold if off for now, I sometimes have so much energy that I feel I must burn it.
I'm going back to see the doctor this Wednesday... I think he is going to be very happy with me. I certainly am! In 2008, I think, I lost a lot of weight and went down to 153.5lbs. I'm now at 158lbs and can't believe it that I'm doing it again. This time around, I will do my best not to regain my weight like I did last time.
It's sunday and I'm on my way out to a festival at a shrine/temple in a place in tokyo called asakusa. It's a festival called sanja matsuri. Will take lots of photos.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Good morning!
I'm still going strong with my protein eating diet. I'm planning to reach my goal weight within 2 months. This week , I've been eating 800cals of protein (eggs, beef, pork or chicken) plus 1 cup of raw veggies or 1/2 cup of cooked veggies for each meal. I've been eating all kinds of color veggies. Plus 10 8oz glasses of SmartWater/day.
My doctor advised me not to go to the gym for as long as my caloric intake is 800cals. However, I've been doing a lot of walking in the city and sit-ups in front of the TV at night. I also do my shoulder exercises every night.
Stay well everyone, stay strong! Success to all!

I had a great Mother's Day, with my husband and daughter pampering me all day. I even got to eat bacon and eggs for breakfast and a piece of cake! All within limits of my allowed caloric intake. I hope you all had a great day, too!
I spent the afternoon full of energy, photographing flowers at a garden a few subway stops away from my house. I walked around for about 2 hours, climbed the subway stairs with great ease.
I was nevertheless surprised this morning to see that I lost another 1.5 lbs, which means that I've lost about 10 lbs in the past 2 months. In normal circumstances, I'd be afraid of this loss and I'd panic. It's strange, but even though I desire and strive for weight loss, when I reach this point my mini-panic state of mind causes me to slow down with my efforts and consequently I regain the lost weight. The fear normally comes from being uncertain if this is the right way to lose weight, if I'm doing this correctly, if I'm going to get sick because of the weight loss. If I happen to catch a cold about this time, I blame the weight loss and the perceived weakened, emaciated body. Of course, the "emaciated body" is just a joke because as I can see, my body still happens to be very well padded with the extra fat that I yet have to lose... What is different this time around is that I have a medical doctor, a weight loss specialist supporting me along the way. So, with that in mind, I feel I can succeed this time around. I wish myself and everyone success! I feel grateful I have a forum to be able to share my thoughts...
One last thing: drinking a lot of water is one of the most important parts in the weight loss process. My doctor recomended 10 glasses of water a day to help flush out the toxins caused by induced ketosis. Toxins released with the burned fat will cause really bad breath, which was one thing that I had never known or heard about in the past. I'm guessing that bad breath is a tabu of sorts... When I had bad breath I thought that I was getting sick, even had nightmares about it in the past. Lots of water will keep that controlled, as well, and now that I know, I won't panic! He recomended me to drink SmarWater for its added electrolytes. I like it a lot.
Have a good week, everyone!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!
The past few days have been difficult but I'm glad I've been able to stay faithful with my diet of 800 protein calories plus veggies. I saw a lower number on the scale, so I feel I'm doing something right! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hello everyone!
Thank you BISCOTTI for the shout-out!
Sorry I've been away for so long, I've been busy with all kinds of social activities, trips, work, etc. It's fun to be back in this country.
In January, I joined a group of people at husband's work on a weight loss program. In the period of 3 months I lost 8 pounds but got stuck in a plateau. I'm finally seeing a doctor, a weight loss specialist, who is helping me out. Once he determined that I was a healthy person, he put me on a 800 calorie/day diet. He also prescribed me some appetite supressant pills which I am supposed to take only if I cannot go without. So far, I'm still going strong without it. I'll see how it goes... I spoke about the pills to my other doctor and he tells me that it's ok to take them. I've never taken pills before, so I'm a little shy about it. So far, I've lost 5 more pounds, averaging about 1 pound a week, using my calorie counting skills :) and my will power.
I've updated my weight and will try to be more present here. I did miss you all!
Progress as of today - 18 lbs lost so far, only 14 lbs to go!
Hope you'll post fairly regularly--take care of yourself!
Hello all: Yesterday was a very good day, including the eliptical workout (40m) at the gym and sit-ups. I haven't been exercising my upper body (shoulder, more especifically) due to doctor's orders.
I have been having really bad shoulder pains and had an MRI the other day. This morning, I had an appointment with the doctor which was really nice because the pain has been so bad it's keeping me awake at night. He gave me a cortizone and some sort of anesthesia shot - I can already tell the difference, beautiful! Will have another shot in one week. I hope this continues to work...
I rode my bike to the international foods store, about a couple of miles away. Lots of hills, lots of exercise! I bought ingredients for tomorrow's dinner. I'm cooking for ten people, cooking's a lot of work but it's fun. The maid is on vacation, so I must do all the work, including the cleaning which is a bummer because I dislike cleaning...
Eating has been good today, lots of leftover, not necessarily diet food but the portions are controlled:
coffee, bean soup, carrot cake, veggies stir-fry
I hope everyone is having a good day!
Progress as of today - 3 lbs lost so far, only 29 lbs to go!
Take care of the shoulder. I hope your sleep is improved.
Anyway, you can do this--I know you have lots of good food around you to challenge you, but there are always better choices!

I can't post here today, so here's my entry:
I was stuck in a very troublesome and stubborn weight loss plateau but I'm out of it now. I've upped my calorie intake and started exercising. I can picture myself losing a few more pounds in the next couple of weeks before I see the doctor again. I feel energetic and healthy. I've been swimming, using the gym equipment for both up and lower body. My size 12 jeans that I couldn't wear anymore because of the weight gain around Christmastime are now GONE! My size 10 jeans are getting a bit lose and I fit in a couple of size 8 pants. Yay! I hope everyone is doing well!
