Eighty percent of success is showing up.  Woody Allen

I still like the quote, above.  It still works for me: coming to DD to post, to be conscious of what eat everyday, to be present.  Today, I want to express gratitude to DDs for being there for me whenever I need it.   I'm also grateful for: Hubby (he's almost all healed, still uses a cane to walk but doesn't use it as often  - he bought a new pair of glasses to go with the cane, hes says, lol)  daughter (always in a good mood, fun, keeps me focused)  My cats (soothing creatures! Mostly Selina, though.  Inky is a stinker, very spoiled, selfish and adorable.)

Eating and exercising went very well, yesterday.  I expect more of the same, today.  Stay well, everyone!

Foods so far today: coffee black, 1/2 cup breakfast cereal (Kashi Go Lean crunch)90, egg poached100, kombucha50, pineapple50, 1/2 banana50, kibe200, calico beans300, kibe400,veggies steamed100

exercise: gym, yes

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 27 lbs to go!

That's a great quote, and it rings true with a lot of people i'd imagine. It's the mornings where I really, REALLY don't want to get up early to do a workout that I feel the most accomplished when I DO get up early and get it done!

moogy on 04/11/2012:
You sound as if you are enjoying life and doing well, that's great:) Have to love cats, so nice of them to adopt us:)

Good going--what would we do if every day presented the food challenges--yikes!

I'm totally with you on "Dolores" below--I always hear funny things--or things funny:-)

It is difficult to keep on the straight and narrow if you have 'occasions' to attend. But it's all about living a real life and including all that included and balancing the celebrations with the workouts sounds like the way to go:) Good for you selina;)

Hello all!

I went out for dinner with my family and daughter's friend.  Actually, I went to pick her up at the mall and we decided to stay and eat there.  The restaurant was excellent and the food was fantastic!  I had a salad and a shrimp eggplant dish which was so rich, yum!  Probably was very high in cals, though....  I don't eat out much, so that's alright, once in a while.  Today I have a dinner party to attend.  We'll see how it goes.  Losing weight is not easy....

My daughter watched The Lorax.  When I saw her, she said "hi Mommy, we saw The Lorax!" Dolores and The Lorax sound so similar when one says it fast!  I responded: "Who's Dolores?"

Foods: coffee, blueberry pie, curry for lunch, bacalhau, potatoes, etc rice for dinner, way too much wine, white and red.  cookies, cherry pie, way too many desserts

exercise: yes!

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 27 lbs to go!

V on 04/08/2012:

It was especially hard to be good, yesterday.  At a certain point I just gave up writting down everything I ate and just listenned to myself and my urges to eat.  I Definetly went over my allowed cals, but not by too much.  I also decided to add more proteins to my diet, I usually don't like chicken breasts, but last night I had some and some more.  I also ate several cookies (peanuts and choco) too many.  Yes, some harm was done, but that's alright.  It's water under the bridge. Today is another day, and I'm doing much better, so far.

I was wondering why I lost track of my eating yesterday and I have two theories:  stress over scheduling a medical procedure and the other is my intense seasonal allergies, just acting up.  Intensely. I have the worst time with the spring allergies, and this year has been tough.  I have been taking my meds religiously, but my body is getting all itchy and I have the worst runny nose, weepy eyes and can't stop sneezing.

Due to the allergies, I can't taste or smell much, but it seems like my mouth/stomach/whatever doesn't mind consuming foods without tasting them.

I decided that I won't be eating anything today that I totally don't really enjoy.

Today's food so far: coffee, 1/2 portion muesli150, omelet (2eggs, turkey meat, cheese, green onions, olive oil, salt pepper)450,french bread with olive oil/balsamic vinegar200, blueberry pie. chicken

Gym: yes! 30 min eliptical, 5 min step thing, 20 min bike and the rest of the weight machines I always do.

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 27 lbs to go!

Good morning!

I got so hungry yesterday when I was out shopping with daughter, I felt like I could eat a horse!  While at the shop, I bought a new belt which I need for my jeans that are so lose around my waist and keep falling.

I had a mango late last night, which was delicious but above my limit for weight loss.  It could have been worse...  So, I realize that I've reached that point that losing more is getting more and more difficult, I'm constantly hungry. Have a great weekend!

Foods so far: coffee, 1/2 banana 50, 1/2 portion pasta salad100, peanuts 100, peanuts50, 1/2 banana50, pastasalad(mostly veggies, verey little whole wheat pasta)150, 2kombucha, 100 1/2banana 50, peanuts50 roasted chicken breasts, 3mangoes, 5 cookies (small), peanuts, etc etc etc

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 27 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 04/06/2012:
I found that spreading my meals out throughout the day helped keep hunger at bay!

Isn't it great when you need a belt to keep your jeans up!!

biscottibody59 on 04/06/2012:
Hey there--congrats on all your scale successes, keep up the good work!

What nice pictures below--thanks for including them:-)

hollybelle on 04/06/2012:
Hey - you can do this - you are doing it. Don't go hungry whatever you do. Mangos are a good thing. Looks like you only had around 1400 calories and that is fine! Do you like apples and raw carrots - those are two of my "I've eaten all my calories but still am hungry/want something" foods.....Congratulations on your losses. The pictures are beautiful below!

grannyannie on 04/06/2012:
I've been to one spinning class and it's not like others as you are in your own space on your bike. You can choose to sit when can keep up. It's the best workout!

sweetpea1977 on 04/06/2012:
congrats on the loose pants!!

As for feeling hungry, have you tried cutting back on the grainy carbs and adding more produce and protein to each meal? Produce and protein take longer to digest than breads and pastas so it will keep you fuller longer. Also, eating every 3-4 hours also keeps you from feeling overly hungry too.

Umpqua on 04/06/2012:
You are doing great, congrats on needing a belt! Good suggestions above for keeping your hunger at bay and I don't think you should ever have to go hungry. I've been working on getting more protein and having higher protein snacks and that really keeps me full, especially on heavy exercise days. I hope you have a great weekend!

Maria7 on 04/06/2012:
Sounds like you're doing quite well. :-)

Good morning!

I got up fairly early today to step out and take photos of the flowers in my front yard.  Spring is indeed gorgeous, especially in the early morning sunlight!

Azaleas galore:

This is my blueberry bush that I bought last summer at wholefoods market and planted in my front-yard.  I had  never seen blueberry flowers before....  They are not particularly pretty, but it's quite interesting to watch them grow into fruits...

My lilac tree is blooming!

I lost another half pound since yesterday - I must be doing something right!

No gym yesterday, had to wait for the dishwasher instalation guy in the evening and missed the gym - they finally came at around 10 pm, I couldn't believe it!  I have a beautiful new dishwasher, though.  No more hand washing the dishes, yay!  The day went too fast with taking daughter to the eye doctor, shoe shopping, painting.

Plans for today: more shopping (for daughter's clothes, shoes) and painting.

Foods so far: coffee black, 1/2 slice bread with turkey50, 1/2 banana50, 1/2 sweet potato bake100,1/2 portion soba noodle seaweed soup150, egg scrambled 130, peanuts 150, 1/2 banana 50, grille salmon200, small cookie 50, pasta salad (peppers, zucchini, brocoli, carrots, onions, olive oil, whole wheat pasta)250, seaweed soup100, mangoes 150

Progress as of today: 10 lbs lost so far, only 27 lbs to go!

woooooooooooow beautiful!!!! <3

sweetpea1977 on 04/05/2012:
Congrats on the half pound loss!

Beautiful flowers, especially the dogwoods and lilacs. I grew up with 3 very fruitful blueberry bushes. Each spring and summer, one of my chores was to pick blueberries and it seemed to take forever. We ate blueberries with everything, but my favorite was the jam my mom would make with them. She made it all season, gave it away as gifts, as well as freeze some so we could enjoy it year round. The woods across the street from our house was loaded with blackberry bushes so we would pick those and make jam out of them as well. Her jams were so delicious! Im tempted to buy blueberry and blackberry bushes for our yard so I can try making healthier versions of the jams my mom made.

Nice! Have a great week!

Thanks for your comments. Glad all is well with your daughter- it's hard to watch them struggle but she sounds like she has it all together. You are right, college will be tough & it's a competitive world & she'll be ready. And to answer your question- no this is our first overseas experience. Iknow so many people who have done this as a way of life. Good job on your weight loss!

I didn't realize how tired I was yesterday with the touring of the mansion http://www.morvenpark.com/ and walking along the potomac river trails looking at peaking bluebells.  When we got home I took a long nap to recover.  This morning, my whole body is so sore, it's as if I spend hours at the gym!

Today I have my last painting studio class and will have to leave the fort for daughter to take care of. She'll be doing her reading assignment, she says.

Have a great day, everyone!
