Good morning! After a very sluggish day, yesterday, I did end up at the gym last night, which was good. I did not add up the calories, though. Maybe around 1800. Blah. I'm thinking of going back to see the doctor because my frozen shoulder doesn't seem to be improving - the good thing is taht it's not getting worse, and for that I have to credit my daily streches at the gym.
I haven't been entertaining in my house in a long while. Hubby says he'll bring his colleague who is visitng from abroad for dinner tomorrow night... must get my recipe books out to figure out a good menu :) Today I must clean the house squeaky clean.
Have a good day!

I'm not feeling very well today - I feel so tired and sluggish. I'm hoping to take a nap to see if that helps.
Napping helped. Will go to gym this evening.

**** I fixed the photos that I posted a couple of days ago, I hope they stay that way...*****
Nice to be able to sleep in on a Monday morning. Yay for the holiday! I hope staying on track over the weekend was easier for you than it was for me. I was able to get the exercise in (1/2 hr. on Sat, 1 and 1/2 hr on Sun) but the eating part was not so good. I thought it was not so bad, but I see pounds gained over the weekend, which is pretty discouraging. I know it could be anything, salty foods, water retention, blah blah. but I still hate seeing the scale going the wrong direction. Having said that, I am not giving up and will keep doing the right thing this week: exercise and moderate eating.
I hope everyone is having a good day!

This morning, I made a big pot of kale soup (kale, tomatoes, beans, garlic, chicken soup stock, salt pepper, lemon) and will eat it throughout the day. It's really huge and delicious! Very low in calories! I also went to the gym for 1 1/2 hr - just came back and feel tired.... I noticed that some of the photos I posted yesterday are not rotated correctly, sorry for that. Will try again later when I go to the PC. Can't do it here on my laptop..
I hope you are all having a good Sunday!

Good morning!
I got my exercise in last night despite the tumultuous day I had yesterday. Although I was mentally exhausted, I went to the gym and did 30min bike, 20 min eliptical and the and 40 min weights circuit - felt much better after the gym. Eating was not so good - ate too much at night, after returning from the gym. Will do better today.
Last evening, I also went back to my friends house to see if they were well (yes, they looked more rested and happy and not in such bad pain) and to bring homemade minestrone soup(which I made,) bread and dessert(picked up at wholefoods.) Hubby was very glad I was able to help our friends (his colleague, actually)
Today's plan: going to town to take photos of monuments with daughter who has a photography class project on "reflections and shadows". Will be doing a lot of walking at the Mall. We may stop at the national gallery to see an exhibit I wanted to see.
Today's food: coffee, oatmeal, minestroni soup, apple, banana, chicken breast, cornbread stuffing, salad, apple, doce de leche

I'm late but I'm here!
My friends asked me to take them to the hospital, this morning, and pick them up (he was having a kidney stone blasting procedure done and his wife is in a wheel chair due to a stroke, she she couldn't take him)because the hospital couldn't allow patient discharge to a taxi cab. They have been our close friends way before the stroke happened, so it was my pleasure to take them there since I had no plans for the morning.
As to my friend's husband medical procedure, something terrible happened in the middle of it: the shock waves machine to brake the kidney stones went kaput in the middle of the procedure!!!!!!!! Have you ever heard of that? The doctor told me he had NEVER had that problem before, EVER! So they had to borrow another one, from another hospital, the machine got stuck in traffic on the beltway and if you know the area, you know how bad that is. While we waited, the kidney that was "ticked off" with 1/2 of a procedure, started acting up. By then the anesthesia was wearing off and I have to say I have never seen anyone in so much pain in my life! They gave him so many dosages of paing killers stronger than morphine (so said the nurse) but nothing seemed to work! To make a long story a bit shorter, everything ended well. He had the full treatment, eventually, and was discharged 2 and 1/2 hours later than scheduled, which means that he was in agonizing pain for that long. It was pretty emotional morning, to say the least, but I'm glad I was there for them.
Today's food so far: egg, (coffee, 1/4 french toast, eggplant parmigiana, veggies, veggies, water at hospital cafeteria).taboule salad, cod/potatoes/bell peppers, pineapple, apple
Exercise: gym for 1 and 1/2 hr (30 min bike, 20 min eliptical, the rest of the tim i did weights)
Will make soup and take some to my friends.

It turns out that I didn't catch a cold: I was just tired and having allergies, so I took a zirtec and went down for a nap. I was alright after that. In the evening, I felt energized and went to the gym for 1 and 1/2 hr. I also went to wholefoods because I was low on veggies, and I got a lot of good organic produce: blueberries, parsley, suiss chard, collard greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, large box of spring greens salad, lemons, apples, milk and sea salt. I love it when I have lots of greens in the fridge...
Have a good day, everyone!
Foods so far: 2 eggs, 1 banana, water, green salad, minestroni soup, chicken breast in lemon/garlic marinate, redbeans/turkey chili, celery/onion/tomato salad, pineapple, cheese, strawberry jam

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day! I sure did, although I could have done it better without the chocolate (from hubby) and the lips and heart shaped cookies that daughter and I bought (for hubby ) at wholefoods on the way back from gym (1 and 1/2 hr) and dance. He seemed happy that we remembered him :) and ate his heart shaped cookie heartily. They were delicious!
Daughter has been sick lately - coughing - and I probably am catching the bug from her. I feel tired and sore. Who knows I might be feeling this way because of the strenuous workouts I had two days in a row. We'll see.
Have a great day everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day! Happy 24th Wedding Anniversary for me and Hubby!
It was a good day, yesterday: I ate a variety of healthy foods and drank lots of water. I did even go to the gym for 30min cardio and 40 min weight training machines. I didn't even feel bad about eating a few lady fingers for dessert (I was planning to make tiramisu for company, but forgot all about it, never used the ingredient.) But I did feel a little dumb eating a reeses peanut butter cup - daughter was getting out candy out of the freezer to give her friends for v-day. Leftovers from halloween, haha. They've been in the freezer all this time, since halloween, so they're fresh.
I'm expecting to have a good day today, as well. I hope you have a good one, too!
