Good morning! We have a blanket of snow covering everything this morning and the sun is out - so beautiful! The person who is the most excited in this household is my sweet daughter who has a late start at school. Although yesterday was Presidents' Day, she had to go go school because it was snow make-up day. She is happy to have a extra couple of hours off this morning, so am I!
Yoga went very well, yesterday. Because it was a holiday, the class was full, so we had a chance of doing streches with each other - there are advantages when the class is full. Yoga is the most peaceful hour I have in the whole day, I can really center myself during that hour. In the evening, I went for my 45 min eliptical and 10 minute crunches - Gotta work on my core! No yoga today because on snow days there are no classes... but I have plans of going to the gym tonight for my cardio.
Eating yesterday was good as I'm learning how to listen to my stomach hunger as opposed to mouth hunger: I don't feel hungry during the day, so I eat very little for breakfast (oatmeal and flax) and lunch (sesame dressing on spring greens, white bean soup), but in the evenings, i like eating my heart out (tofu, cod, leeks, mushrooms, orange bell pepper, burdock roots, carrots, rice crackers.) Moderately! I'm very happy where I am right now concerning my relationship with food.
Thanks for the congratulatory notes about the FB challenge! I appreciate your enthusiam!
Stay well, everyone!

Good morning!
I hope you all had a great weekend - I sure did. It's a cloudy and dark morning around this part of the country - I hope you are having better luck wherever you live! I hope to dispell this funky mood by going to yoga this morning - it always works for me. I asked Hubby to bring an extra box of chocolates from Switzerland so I can give it to my yoga teacher as a belated Valentine's day gift, so I know she'll be delighted!
Have a great day everyone!

have fun at yoga! i love yoga, too, and maybe i'll take a class on my next day off.
Enjoy your yoga class today!
For the lean protein, egg whites, sardines and, if I can find some, un-nasty chicken. That's the plan, we'll see:-)
About the pictures, my body has looked like this for a long time and I've just accepted it. Usually I glance once or twice in the mirror and move on. I'm no different than anyone else, I think there's room for improvement:-)
Good morning!
Yesterday was a super day: yoga in the morning and cardio and weights in the evening. I've been eating on demand only when I feel like it and only what I want to do eat: I hardly had any lunch but ate well in the evening. I didn't overdo (in fact, calories were very low) and ate very healthy foods: oatmeal and flax, bell peppers, zuchinni, brocoli, blueberries, almonds, yogurt. Going to yoga has the added benefit of doing my practice with a whole bunch of super fit ladies who look awesome, which is an incredible incentive for me to become like one them!
Today I have plans of taking daughter to the ballet shop where she needs to buy pointe shoes for her Friday ballet classes. She is so happy that she is going on pointe, but I have to say I have my doubts... I fear that they are going to be bad for the health of her feet. I know it's unfounded but I can't help it.
Hubby is coming back from his 2-week trip to Geneva. I know he'll bring back chocolates (Swiss chocolates are the best in the world, I assure you) and I have to watch myself I only have one (or two?) truffle a day.
Have a great weekend!

The tagline is, "The Swiss is better than the Dutch."
You're really getting into the yoga--good going!
Good morning!
I almost gave up going to the gym last night, after I dropped off daughter at the library, but went anyway just because it was the convenient thing to do. I wasn't very inspired, but ended up doing the eliptical for 40 min and 20 min of weights and 20 min walk. I need to schedule a trainer for me, to get some more incentive! I just saw this amazingly handsome trainer at the gym last night and will try to get him to show me how to use the exercise equipment. Anyway, I saw my yoga teacher at the gym (she has a 10am class which I attend and another at 7pm) and as she dislikes walking the treadmill, we went out for a walk around in the neighborhood, in the warm winter evening - it feels like spring in this part of the country!
No specific plans for today, except that I have to clean the house which has been neglected for a while. I have a pretty neat house, but the dust needs to be cleaned. I like a clean house (of course!) but I hate cleaning it, the noise of the vacuum cleaner really bothers me...
I hope you are having a good day!
UPDATE: I did go to yoga this morning and felt so good about it! I was surprised to see the studio full! Usually it's about 6 of us, but today we were 19!!! Anyway, it just made it more fun and intense. I feel good about myself being able to hold poses a bit longer than before and for being able to do them more correctly, putting a lot of energy into them. I came back home and decided to prune overgrown hedges in my backyard - I did it all manually, with hand shears, so I burned a lot of calories there. yay! I have a feeling that this is not the right time of the year to prune bushes but that's alright. If the plants die on me, I'll get new ones.

Good morning!
I forced myself to go to yoga, yesterday, and I was so glad I went. I came back home renewed, refreshed! I did not go to the gym, though, which is good. My poor muscles need a rest!
Eating was good and moderate, I'm happy to report. Also, I think I've had perfect score for the weekly challenge so far. Who is doing it with me? Which reminds me of the fact that I was having doubts about whether or not I was turning into a "wino" because I was drinking wine almost every evening with dinner. I haven't had wine ever since hubby left for his business trip almost 2 weeks ago and haven't missed it at all. (I've missed hubby, though, haha) I don't even think about opening a bottle even though they are right there in front of me on the wine rack. So, I think I can rest assured I am not addicted. I just enjoy wine, period!
UPDATE: I just came back from yoga and feel wonderful! I will work for a few hours and later I shall go to the gym, after I drop off daughter at the local public library where she volunteers for 2 hours this evening. The gym is just across the street from the library, so that'll work out just perfectly. I plan to do cardio and weights this evening. I hope everyone is doing well!

Have a great day.
Good morning!
I copied/pasted the cod recipe from yesterday below, if you'd like to try....
I had a pretty good day, yesterday, with food and exercise: yoga in the morning and cardio in the evening. For breakfast, I had my usual oatmeal with flax and a banana. For lunch, I made my own sesame dressing for my salad, and was pretty happy with the taste, better than the store bought ones. I steamed a bunch of this brocoli looking thing (lots of green leaves, small brocoli like heads) and put the sesame dressing on when the veggies were cool - yum! For dinner, I made grilled salmon and ate it with steamed green beans and wholefood's dragon sushi (avocado and grilled eel). Yogurt for dessert with lots of fresh blueberries.
I hope everyone is having a good morning/day!

I see you have a new posted weight. Congratulations on the pound being gone!
Good morning!
I am loving the oatmeal with flax for breakfast. BTW, you can buy them at wholefoods market, very inexpensively at the bulk section of the store. I love how the grains are crunchy and are even better with the nutty ground flax seeds. The only thing is that they are not instant, it takes a while to cook them - you have to cook a whole bunch and keep in the fridge.
Exercising went very well, yesterday. I did yoga in the morning, cardio (30 min) plus weight training (20 min)in the evening. My yoga teacher says that I should come to classes every day if I can, that it won't hurt me to do yoga every day. So, I'll try to attend the classes as many times a week as I can. Yoga has been so good for my back!
The fish I ate last night (cod) was so good, I have to remember to buy some more again next time I go to the store. I've been trying to get different/unusual types of food, just to tease my palate, recently.
I hope you are all having a great day!
Progress as of today: 12 lbs lost so far, only 35 lbs to go!
How did you prepare the cod? I think cod is a mild fish, and one I'd like to try. I've been trying new things too recently, like salmom.
Have a great day.
Happy Valentine's Day!
I just got tulips(and chocolate) delivery from hubby who is still in geneva but remembered our anniversary on valentine's day, 23 years ago! I can hardly believe it has been this long! He always gives me tulips on valentine's day because he knows they are my favorite flowers - my wedding bouquet was made of tulips, which I don't recomend to any bride because they all opened up wide and big even before the ceremony started, haha!
So, I did go to the gym last night with my daughter - earlier in the day, she was so sweet to accompany me to the mall to buy yoga clothes, as well. I bought 2 sets which I think are very nice and comfy, they are nike brands and were on sale, yay!
I'm off to yoga this morning and I'm wearing my new clothes!
Have a great day!
Kathy, thanks for asking me to take a photo of the flowers, I almost forgot. Now I can show them to hubby when he returns at the end of the week. By then, the flowers will not as pretty, I'm afraid:

Good morning! I love quiet Sunday mornings with cup of strong coffee and thick newspaper - my Sunday morning ritual. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Saturday was a very peaceful day, daughter worked on an essay to apply for a summer program at uva and I painted all day while listening to a book (CDs) that I checked out at the library. I'm always amazed at how wonderful our libraries are! Hubby is missing us and called to find out what we were up to - says that will catch up on sleep over the weekend.
Didn't go to the gym yesterday for I was resting my muscles, but will go today. Have a great day, everyone!

Glad you had a great Saturday!!

I think it's huge to be able to say you are happy with your relationship with food. That's something to aspire to! Great going on your exercise!

Dinner is by far my favorite meal as well...I am still not used to eating a full breakfast...Hey i just wanted to reply to your re on my post about your daughter, i think it is awesome that you are doing this the right way! My sis and i developed quite the really bad dieting habits/quick fixes all suggested by our coaches so the parents never questioned it! So when my niece started dancing, we made sure this didn't happen to her...She turned down Joffrey to pursue medicine, however :( I was bummed slightly that she turned down that honor...

Good morning to you! Congrats on doing so well. Sounds like you are really enjoying your yoga and have gotten into a good routine with the food and calories, too! :-)

Love this entry, especially your feelings towards yoga and your relationship with food.
On the weekdays, I tend to enjoy small meals all day long. But on the weekends, I like to do bigger meals. Most of them are healthy, but I do like to splurge every once in a while and do a naughty breakfast or dinner. I just try to do only one "bad" meal on Saturday and/or Sunday since eating bad all day upsets my stomach!

I absolutely agree with what you said about yoga. I have such a feeling of peace all night afterwards and it extends into the next day. I wish I could do it more often than 1x per week, but it's tough enough to juggle babysitters for my one night. Doing a DVD at home just isn't the same as class! Great job with your approach to food also, very healthy thinking!

Hey! whatever is working for you is good. This way of exercising and eating is working. You are sounding great and doing great, I don't know whether to be thrilled to bits for your huge challenge total or just throw in the towel (joking!) I have yet to get near 100, so you did really well!
