Weight: 169.5

Good morning ladies!

I have a huge smile on my face , for I weighed myself at 169.5 this morning!   It means that my walking/running is paying off.  Yesterday, although I had planned not to go walking again because of my sore muscles, I got a burst of energy after I ate an unplanned afternoon snack of 1/2 english muffin with brie cheese.  So, I went for a jog but had to come right back because it started raining.  I was able to get to exercise intensely for 1/2 hr.

I love the trees, the wild life and the interaction with the other people who are also getting their very much needed physical activity.  So, since the weather is going to be nice today, I shall be back on the walking track again.  This time, I shall take my camera so that you can have a picture of it!

Have a good day!

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs, coffee

snack: 1/2 banana, turkey wraps (lettuce, carrots and cucumbers wrapped in slice of smoked turkey)

lunch: 15 bean soup (I still have a whole bunch of the soup! Husband is still in Europe, so I have a hard time finishing it up, just between daughter and me), salad

snack: edamame

dinner: spinach miso soup

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I finished my walk/jog for the day (2.7 miles) and here are the photos I took this morning.  Too bad it was cloudy, I think photos are so much nicer on sunny days. Also, it rained so much last night that the ground was full of leaves and broken twigs ...

This is the view I get when I do my sit-ups...

This is one the stops on the trail...

And this is Muchu (sp?), the dog of a very nice lady I met a couple of days ago while walking, a neighbor who also likes walking at the same time I do.  Isn't he cute?  He doesn't like me so much, though. I think he can smell my cats on my clothes, hehe

Last, but not least, this is Selina sitting on the deck....

Progress as of today: 12.5 lbs lost so far, only 34.5 lbs to go!

Congrats!!!!!! Have a great weekend!

sweetpea1977 on 10/01/2010:
YAY! Welcome to the 160's!! I bet you'll be smiling all day!! Im so excited you'll be taking your camera on your walks now. I missed those beautiful walking adventure photos.

I love my red kitchen and dining room. It took like 5 coats of paint to get it to look like that. I sure hope we dont sell this house any time soon because it will be a total pain covering up the bright red with a more buyer friendly color. lol

Anyway, your menu looks great. Enjoy it and have a wonderful friday and weekend!

sweetpea1977 on 10/01/2010:
Oh, I forgot to talk about the head massage. I definitely think that helped me relax last night. I was yawning all night after I came home. Hubby does do head massages, but not nearly enough. One thing he is really good at is rubbing my ears. Sounds weird, but it is so relaxing to me. :)

I plan on going back to that salon, as it also has a spa. They do all sorts of massages, including prenatal massages. Im going to hint to hubby that I'd like a prenatal massage for my birthday/Christmas. hehe

Umpqua on 10/01/2010:
Awesome news on the scale - and I big change with the 160s! Your hard work is paying off. Your foods always sound wonderful, brie on an english muffin? Yum! I hope you have an excellent weekend!

tangalyn on 10/01/2010:
yay, i love pictures :) cant wait to see them, great job running yesterday even tho u were sore, i know how tempting it is just to stay put when ur hurtin... congrats on ur loss too! ur doing an awesome job, keep up the good work n have a great day :)

sweetpea1977 on 10/01/2010:
There is a special technique to the ear massage. Hubby has tried teaching me it (to use on him), but I still haven't mastered it after five years of marriage. I never liked my ears being touched until he started massaging them. Now I cant get enough!

Maria7 on 10/01/2010:
Congratulations to you! Hope you have a wonderful day!

wow, I can hear the branches, I can smell the humidity in the air.. Lovely photos! I could say: "I can see the squirrels" but I think Selina has already finished them all off... :-)))) Ok, bad joke!!! :P Congrats on the weigh loss, one who can stand eating only a HALF of a muffin surely deserves a loss! :))))))))

just42day on 10/01/2010:
Congrats on the loss! Thanks for sharing the pics! The cat looks well fed! Sign posted at my vets office: People who don't like cats come back in their next life as mice.... :)

chidogs on 10/01/2010:
Hee, yeah the half a muffin thing impressed me too! If I can reach that stage of control I will consider the battle won! Good for you. Those pictures are awesome, so is your kitty. :)

moogy on 10/01/2010:
See, I told you yesterday, my imaginary view wasn't to far off. How fortunate to live amongst such beauty, it looks wonderful. I am properly jealous now. I feel like I belong in a green country, with green grass and vast trees, regualr rain - I use to think it was just because I was born in England, but my daughter feels the same way and she was born in Australia. I love the freedom, great social support system, tolerance towards other's and the general "it will all work out alright" attitute here, I just hate the heat and the lack of rain. I ask myself would I actually want to give up the lifesyle for the green and I don't think so. Australia is a great place to live, so little unemployment, really good work conditions, relaxed lifestyle, friendly people. But those trees and that track are looking good. I may have to visit!!!!

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday I went for a 3-mile walk/jog for the first time in a long time!  My new shoes are working great and being in nature felt very good!  Eating was good during the day, except for the dinner: risotto was too good and I ended up eating a bit too much of it.  Not waaay too much, but enough to keep me from loosing weigh...

I'm a bit sore from the running and exercising, yesterday.  Will rest today from physical activies...

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs, tea, coffee

snack: almonds

lunch: bean soup, eggplant relish, coffee

snack: 1/2 banana, 1/2 english muffin with brie cheese

dinner: chicken breast & brocoli sauteed, spinach salad chicken noodle and spinach soup

Exercise: 1 mile jog/walk (it started raining, so I had to get back) floor exercises

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 09/30/2010:
yeah, the tendency is to get better... but I have a strange situation of: the "theory" doctors (endocrinologist & clinica geral) say: "You have to lose more weight, now, now now..." and the physiotherapist says: "You have to be careful losing weight... as for long term solution the ideal weight is the goal, as for short term you have to get there less quickly." Now, what should I do... as you can read, I don't starve, I eat 5-6 times a day, I have a 1400-1700 calorie intake per day, I'm losing 5 kgs a month, it's a lot for the physiotherapist and ideal for the others, and I'm enjoying it either, so what should I do...

Maria7 on 09/30/2010:
3 mile walk...yayyy! Always feels better walking in new shoes! Yes...get some rest today...don't want to overdo... Breakfast looks nice! :-)

sweetpea1977 on 09/30/2010:
Good job on the exercise!!! So excited to hear about you walking and jogging again. :)

Good morning ladies!

OOOPS - I overate last night.  You just can't have only one bowl of clam chowder, I figured.   I shall not beat myself up for this slip up and, instead, I'll count it as a high cal day to boost my metabolism.  The day ended with 1900 cals.   I'll do better today.

I bought a new pair of walking shoes, yesterday, so I can get going with my walking routine which I haven't resumed since the move.  Now that I have more or less settled, I think I'll start walking again.

Breakfast: 2 eggs poached

snack: almonds 1/2 banana

lunch: bean soup, salad

snack: edamame

dinner: risotto, veggies steamed

Exercise: walk/jog 2.9 miles on the hiking trail, stopped at stations for exercises.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

just42day on 09/29/2010:
Boy, do I hear you on the clam chowder. Definitely one of my favorites. Hope you get to break in your new walking shoes soon! :)

V on 09/29/2010:
Great way to put it in perspective! Have an awesome day!

sweetpea1977 on 09/29/2010:
Clam chowder, oh my! And the weather is perfect for it right now. Mmmmm!

Yes, you need to go walking. From what you've written in earlier entries, you live in a fantastic area perfect for walking! Wish I could join you! :)

breakaway on 09/29/2010:
I got a new pair of shoes too :D I can see why you had to have two bowls! YUM I love clam chowder. I try not to have it in the house because I like the NOT low fat kind ;) Today looks good so far :D Have a great day today.

KathyBlue on 09/29/2010:
awww, I'm curious about the walking shoes :)

Yes, it was a high cal day, all part of your program and if you have to eat a little more than usual that a good way to do it. Have a great day Selina. Thank you for your input.

Good morning ladies!

I think I did fairly well, yesterday, with minor changes in the menu.  Well, I sort of plan my meals here in my diary but it's not etched on stone...  It's just a combination of things that I think I should be eating and/or what I may have in the fridge.

I'm still enjoying the rain and I'm happy for the plants and trees that seem to be drinking up all the moisture before they go dormant for the winter.   After this rain, I have a feeling that we are going to have the most fantastic display of fall colors in a few weeks.  That's something to look forward to!

Have a good day, everyone!

Breakfast: home made selina's style muesli (oatmeal with 1/2 banana, 1/4 apple cooked in non-fat milk), tea with no sugar, just a splash of non-fat 1/2&1/2

snack: peanuts (the packages in the US are humongous and they last foreverandever :)

lunch: 15 bean soup http://www.hurstbeans.com/products, green salad

snack: edamame

dinner: clam chowder, brocoli sauteed in olive oil.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

just42day on 09/28/2010:
15 bean soup? Are there really 15 different kinds of beans? Ah- clam chowder. Love it! Have a great day. Sounds like you're doing really well. Keep going! :)

tangalyn on 09/28/2010:
i never knew there was so many beans :) hope u have a great day!

just42day on 09/28/2010:
Thanks for the bean info. Learn something everyday! Thanks!:)

V on 09/28/2010:
There is something about having soup on a rainy or chilly day! You have had really good selections in the past few days! My fave so far is the Black bean mango :P have a good day Selina!

KathyBlue on 09/28/2010:
apple cooked in non-fat milk?? How's that??? It must be delicious.. do you drink it or eat it hot? Or is it all mixed in oatmeal? I'm not sure because of the commas... and because I've NEVER tried oatmeal. Cannot wait to get my salary, I want to try it... Is it nutritious, healthy? How about calories?

Clams... BAHHHH, I don't like those. I prefer a nice, grilled espadarte no carv√£o, yummmmmmmy.... :-o

Umpqua on 09/28/2010:
Funny about the peanuts - I think everything is humongous here in the US compared to other countries! Our leaves are already beginning to change here and it's outstanding. Can't wait for the big pop in a couple of weeks. Hope you have a good day!

lose4sure on 09/28/2010:
15 bean soup...yum!

sweetpea1977 on 09/28/2010:
The mountain that I often hike is starting to show its fall colors at the top of it. You can see this particular mountain from my house (I live 5 minutes away from it) and its always pretty to look at on clear sunny days. :)

Foods look great, especially lunch and dinner!!

Umpqua on 09/28/2010:
I just saw your comment to Kathy about Eugene, OR. My parents live in southern OR and I lived out there for a year. Eugene is a great city and I'm glad you have fond memories of it! Hubby and I actually tried to move there but the job situation was bleak at the time (back in 97-98). I won't blab on and on but the Pacific NW is truly an awesome place :)

moogy on 09/28/2010:
I am feeling jealous of the rain Selina, oh! what I would give for regular rain. Your menu for the day look really good. I hope you have a great day Selina.

I became very tired and felt like eating the whole house mid-morning, so I decided to put on my oversized T-shirt and take a nap, instead.  That's all I needed, a good rest.  Not a pile of food.  The weekend was pretty intense with activities and last night I did a series of floor exercises, so my body was exhausted.  When my body is tired, I'm more prone to overeating, so I'm glad a took a nap, instead...

#############################

Good morning ladies!

Today is a rainy day and I'm loving it!  Everything looked so dry and parched, including my newly acquired and planted mums, so it was nice to wake up to the sound of the rain in the morning...  Also the temps have fallen considerably and  it feels more like  fall, finally!

No big plans for today, except for going back to painting my watercolors... well, actually I have huge plans of going back painting my watercolors!

Have a good day everyone!

Breakfast: oatmeal with 1/2 banana, tea

snack: peanuts

lunch: cucumber/tomato salad, black bean soup, mango

snack: celery stalks, laughing cow cheese mango

dinner: steamed salmon, brocoli sauteed in olive oil, eggplant relish, miso soup with white radish

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

just42day on 09/27/2010:
Ah - oatmeal! I have to remember I have lots in my pantry and start having that for b'fast. Enjoy your painting today! :)

sweetpea1977 on 09/27/2010:
I've never shopped for lighting at Kohls, so Im not sure if they have it there. They may have mirrors. But if you can't find them there you can always go to my other favorite store - Bed Bath and Beyond (take your coupons, of course!). :)

We got a ton of rain today. More is forecasted for today. YAY! My yard was looking pretty sad the last couple of weeks, so Im sure it is loving all the water. And the temps outside are amazing. It was mostly mid 60's yesterday and today looks more of the same. Goodbye high electricity bills!!

Enjoy painting the day away!

Umpqua on 09/27/2010:
We're having rain here too, and my gardens need it desperately. Your foods sound awesome, hope you have a good one!

A nap sounds good...as for me...it is redoing the closet over here, washing clothes, and cooking supper! :-)

moogy on 09/27/2010:
Well, it is exciting to feel the urge to paint again. I would love to hear rain day or night, we get so little of it and when we do it doesn't last long enough. I am glad you slept instead of eating, well done and your menu for the day looks very nice!! Have a good day Selina.

breakaway on 09/27/2010:

Weight: 171.0

Good morning!

According to my new, not so reliable scale, I'm down 2 lbs!!! I weighed myself 5 times and had slightly different readings, but I shall take the new number as the closest.   Halleluiah!

I did very well, yesterday, and kept the calories around 1350, I hope I can do the same today...

Painting the garage floor was a mjor disaster, haha!  the epoxy painting mix got so hard that we couldn't put the second coating on.  Oh well...

Breakfast: 1/2 english muffin, 2 eggs overeasy, coffe

lunch: leftover stuff: eggplant relish, roastbeef , cucumber salad

snack: edamame

dinner: lebanese salad (cucmber, tomatoes, onions, parsley, lemon)  roastbeef, bean soup

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 09/26/2010:
I didnt always love football. My dad watched NFL when I was a little girl and I thought it was boring. I was in band in middle school and high school and as part of the marching band, we had to sit through the football games. I found it boring in middle school, but enjoyed it in high school. Then I went to a good college football school and I've never been the same ever since. :)

Anyway, congrats on the new weight. That weight seems more accurate to me because of all the unpacking and cleaning you have had to do the last couple of weeks!!

V on 09/26/2010:
Yippee!!!! Glad that you and the scales have resolved your differences! :) have a good Sunday!!!

moogy on 09/26/2010:
OK, so today we think that your scales is really good, well done selina, good going. Oh dear, the garage sounds like a bit of a disaster zone, is the first coat at least nice and flat? Have a good day and I hope you work out what you need to do to the floor. Yikes!!

moogy on 09/26/2010:
So glad you got the floor done, I had this picture of your cats walking very precariously across a slightly tacky floor shaking their paws at each step, you know how they do. Well, thats one disaster averted. Well saved!!

Maria7 on 09/26/2010:
Congratulations to you! Maybe keep those scales after all! :-D

Maria7 on 09/26/2010:
Wow...so HAPPY to hear Selina found her way back home! I know you were very relieved! Thank the Lord! It is so easy to lose pets after moving to a place unfamiliar to them. We did lose our wonderful black cat many years ago when that happened and never found him, though we tried. He was so intelligent and loving. Slept with Daughter with his head on the pillar beside hers when she was a very small little girl. I think he thought he was a human, too! :-D Hope Tartine is doing well. I know some cats panic on being put in those carriers...just terrified of being in them...so maybe for the best he stay put if he has readjusted to the new family being his family and they are taking real good care of him. I love cats. Would love to have a black male cat but Hubby says no...no animals. I've accepted his no, but that doesn't mean we can't feed the neighbors' cats! (And help take care of them, too!) :-D

moogy on 09/26/2010:
I think the cat paw shaking thing is one of the funniest things on earth. They think they are so 'above' all the mess their owner's create around them!!!

teensybikini on 09/26/2010:
You have such great menus. I thought that the scales I bought we off also but it turned out i just needed to put it on the tile in my bathroom instead of the carpet in my bedroom. For some reason it makes a big difference. Hope you get a positve reading tomm. Gnite!

KathyBlue on 09/27/2010:
lol, want a scale like that :P always good news!

sweetpea1977 on 09/27/2010:
Hey Selina,

I entered the 2nd trimester a while ago, so Im hoping this wasnt true morning sickness I was dealing with. Part of me wonders if I ate something my tummy didnt agree with. I ate lots of popcorn Saturday night (watching football) and tried a new food item for Sunday's breakfast (veggie sausage patties). Im keeping my fingers crossed that these food choices just aggravated my normal nausea levels.

KathyBlue on 09/27/2010:
Ahhh It's sooo good to know your Selina was found and she's well! :) See the photo I posted today of my little one who's sooo big now... :-)

Good morning ladies!

So I'm done with the etching of the garage floor and washing it with clean running water for 45 min yesterday - the floor is ready for painting today.  Hubby will help me, yay, after all it's his idea to get the garage all freshened up... The cat didn't produce any more deceased wild life, so that's a huge improvement.  All in all, life is good!

I did well on the food consumption department yesterday and will try my best to be good today.  Weekends are always more difficult.  As for weighing myself for results, I have mixed feelings about the new scale:  in my opinion, we should get a new one because I don't think this one is accurate.   Daughter and husband think that it's working for them, so they want to keep it.  So, I guess we are keeping it.  By the way, it weighed me at 173.2 lbs this morning.  Which means that I haven't lost anything at all this week :( Oh well....

Breakfst: tea, oatmeal

snack: peanuts

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 38 lbs to go!

just42day on 09/25/2010:
Maybe you haven't lost but you haven't gained and that's critical. I'm sure you'll see a loss soon. Glad the cat put the killing spree on hold. Enjoy the rest of your day! :)

tangalyn on 09/25/2010:
hope u have a great day!! :)

V on 09/25/2010:
Always a good morning when your cat does not go on a hunt!!!! LOl Now as far as the scale goes well maybe you could get another one for yourself..I seriously think it (scale) has an issue with you! LOL Enjoy the rest of your weekend Selina! I am sure you will be finished with the garage alot quicker with your hubby's help :)

sweetpea1977 on 09/25/2010:
I still don't think that scale is accurate. Is there a way for you to get a separate one for yourself?

liza36 on 09/25/2010:
I would be so frustrated if I thought the scale wasn't accurate. I like Sweetpea's thought. I know scales are expensive, but do you think you can get one for you?

Maria7 on 09/25/2010:
Well, at least you didn't gain, so that's good! Sounds like y'all have a very busy project going on over there freshening up the garage with paint! Glad Inky is doing well...what about Selena and Tartine???

Good morning ladies!

Today is going to be a very challenging day for me: I shall paint the garage floor with this special epoxy paint, which I have never done before.  I bought the kit yesterday that cost me $74, so I am commited.   This is going to be the last thing I do before I start painting my watercolors again for my order of watercolor paper arrived yesterday in the mail.

I was so OMIGOSH embarrassed by my cat Inky's behaviour yesterday:  she killed a squirrel and brought it to the front steps of the house.  I HATE gifts like that!  My heart started pumping hard when I saw it and having to pick it up to dispose of it was NOT EASY.  Poor thing.  The bushy tail still looked fluffy and all.  I hope the squirrels in the neighborhood get smarter because I can't change the hunting instincts of Inky... She does look innocent, though

Food was good, yesterday, and I did well.  I hope today will be as easy.

Have a great day, ladies!

Breakfast: oatmeal cooked in no fat milk 180, 1/2banana 50 , tea 20 (250)

snack: almonds

lunch: leftover salmon steamed bean sprouts and eggplant relish, black bean soup 400 (650)

snack: cucumber sticks, hummus 150 (800)

dinner: beef steak 400, green salad 150 (1350)

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 38 lbs to go!

Oh wow, poor squirrel!! Hubby has two cats and he used to let them run around outside at his old house. One day, after a long day at work, he walks into the living room and the floor was covered in bird feathers and bird body parts. Im so glad I wasn't there to clean that up, yuck!

Anyway, good luck with the garage floor. I want to do the same with our garage, but hubby doesnt think its necessary. Sigh!

sweetpea1977 on 09/24/2010:
hahaha, are you a criminal? :-)

We could really use the rain too. I just prefer it to rain when Im not stuck alone with Ethan the whole weekend. He gets stircrazy if he doesnt get a daily dose of sunshine and fresh air. Then, I start to get stircrazy when my son gets stircrazy, lol

just42day on 09/24/2010:
That Inky sure is a stinky... Sounds like you'll get great exercise painting that floor. Have a good day!

KathyBlue on 09/24/2010:
Humm, maybe she didn't kill it, only found it dead. Squirrels are hard to catch.. and strange how a cat is attracted to kill one, never heard of that. Have fun painting, but careful with the toxic stuff - make sure you have regular breaks.

KathyBlue on 09/24/2010:
Yeah... soft spot :) I love cats. I know they are natural born killers and hunters. Sad as it is, they bring us corpses as "gifts" and they don't learn. Once I almost got a heart attack when I saw one of our cats half-way out of the 3rd floor kitchen window, trying to hunt down a dove (pombo)... The stu..pid neighbor works in a bread factory (indeed, factory... they produce those nylon packed, sliced breads) and he brings those home in excess (lives alone but you know how it goes with people, if it's free they take as much as they can, even if they know they won't consume that much) and he throws it out furtively at night (because it's forbidden by law to feed birds), so we have sooo many birds outside and the cats go crazy. Me too, especially when they poo on our freshly washed clothes, drying outside!!! ARGH... well, gotta go and work sg :)

Umpqua on 09/24/2010:
She's a good hunter catching a squirrel! I have a black cat as well and he's brought me so many mice, birds and chipmunks over the years. Never a squirrel though. Hope you have a great day and good luck with your painting project!

KathyBlue on 09/24/2010:
awww, uma gata lindissima :) Let me see, I want to post a photo of mine.

balloonlady on 09/24/2010:
good luck today, and yes Welcome to Oklahoma, where they deep fry oreos, twinkies and candy bars, Deep fried soda if you can imagine, and yes chocolate covered bacon is a popluar one, all though I never tried it. sounds too icky

liza36 on 09/24/2010:
Inky does look so cute and innocent. When I was younger, we had a cat who would bring birds as a gift. They think they are bringing you something so wonderful, meanwhile we just want to barf! Good luck with your painting project.

Maria7 on 09/24/2010:
We now have a neighbor's cat from each side of us...camping out off and on over here, one on the front porch, one on the back deck...wanting food from us every day. (Being cat lovers, we do feed them.) We have many squirrels around here and I guess they are too lazy to catch one or not as good a hunter as Inky!) Inky is adorable. One of the most beautiful cats I've ever, ever seen!

moogy on 09/24/2010:
Well, Inky obviously loves you to bring you such a lovely treat. My daughter and I were coincidently discussing a cat I owned when we lived in the Blue Mountains a few years ago, I had some women from church over for an organizing meeting and the cat bought home a half dead rat and deposited it in the living room, still twitching, she loved me as well, but thought I need to learn how to give the killing bite. I was so glad my husband was home, the rat was the size of a squirrel, us girls just squealed and yelled for the man. And rightly so, I say. Careful not to paint yourself into a corner!!!:)

V on 09/24/2010:
She looks super innocent But we all know better! LOL have a good weekend :)

Good morning ladies!

I had a great eating day, yesterday.  Everything controled, no slip-ups.  I ate leftovers, mostly, and a steamed bean sprout dish that was perfectly bland and had to be spiced up with a coriander/hot pepper salsa.

Today's plans include a repeat of yesterday in terms of being in control and enjoying my food.

Also, I feel good that all the window coverings are now up (I borrowed the drill and hammer from my friend, mine are still in the sea shipment) and nobody can see us from outside, at night.

Have a good day, ladies!

Breakfast: oatmeal, 1/2 banana, coffee

snack: almonds

lunch: green salad, black bean soup

snack: edamame

dinner: poached salmon, eggplant relish

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 38 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 09/23/2010:
feijoada??? I looove feijoada, but I know it's not allowed in the diet. Well, I went to a Health Expo a few months ago and I received a pack of healthy recipes, and they had feijoada there, alternated... :)

KathyBlue on 09/23/2010:
coriander is coentros, right? I really dislike that! :) I love salsa.

V on 09/23/2010:
Hi Selina :) That is a healthy yummy menu! BTW did you get a new scale????

loveray on 09/23/2010:
im glad you had a great day with your friend yesterday:) what was up with your scale?!

sweetpea1977 on 09/23/2010:
Oh my gosh, I LOVE Wegmans! I have never been to one, but I used to have to look at their ads for my egg and poultry reporting job with the USDA. They had the best ads out of all of the 350 ads I had to look at each week! Their ads had a a very appealing layout and made all their products so appetizing!

Glad you had a great day yesterday. Today's food plan sound great. Enjoy!

Maria7 on 09/23/2010:
We've got new shades to put up...am tempted to do it myself...(not Hubby's fav thing to do at all)...not my fav thing, either! Have a nice day! :-D

just42day on 09/23/2010:
Congrats on the great day! I see many more in your future....:)

balloonlady on 09/23/2010:

breakaway on 09/23/2010:
YAY for no slip ups! Good job :D I love these entries..keeps me going ;)

moogy on 09/23/2010:
Well, it is always a bonus when noone can see through the windows at night!!!! I know what you mean though, it feels more like home with curtains, blinds etc up. I am glad you had a good day and also that you are planning another successful one. That's great.

just42day on 09/23/2010:
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. While I really haven't lost much lately, I'm still committed. Bit by bit it WILL happen! :)

V on 09/23/2010:
So sad about the Starbucks price increase, you would think that would deter me but NO! LOl I even purchase the beans so I can make it at home but it just doesn't taste the same....Is this all in my head??? LOL

sweetpea1977 on 09/24/2010:
lol, I first heard of male bloody nipples through an episode of "The Office". I think I heard the only prevention for that is to put some kind of bandage on top of each one to keep them from chaffing while running! If I were a man, I think I would rather run shirtless to be extra safe! :)

Weight: 173.0

After having had a feast last night, my new infamous scale weighed me at 168.7lbs!  How crazy is that?  That scale is a piece of garbage!

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Good morning ladies!

Sorry I did not get to catch up with you all yesterday, I was all day just so busy.  Lunch with friend turned out to be fantastic, as we had not seen each other for so long, maybe 7 years, we just couldn't remember exactly.  She is looking spectacular after losing 60 lbs!  It took her 2 years to lose that amount of weight, gained 30 lbs at a certain point, but she persisted and she is now a slim size 4 (I think), beautiful girl.   60 lbs is a really big deal for her body because she is so petite, about 5'1", I think, maybe 5'2" . The most important thing is that she has kept it off for 2 years, now.   She is my inspiration!  Except for the part that she left her husband of 20+ years (we are the same age) and has gone through different relantionships and love affairs ever since.  Her husband didn't lose the weight with her and resented the fact that she looked hot :(  As for myself, I plan to lose weight and keep my husband, too, ha!

Anyway, I had steak and salad and 1/2 french bread for lunch, plus a glass of wine.  She had the same thing, except that she ate her whole bread, which means that she is NOT depriving herself of good food and still can maintain her ideal weight.

She introduced me to this amazing store where they sell all kinds of gourmet foods, so I bought all kinds of things: veggies, mangoes, pinapple, brie cheese, naan bread, hummus, assorted marinated olives, gyoza dumplings, sushi, wine, french baguette, etc, etc, and last but not least, 4 pounds of fresh mussels which I steamed with marinara sauce and we all had a feast for dinner.   My daughter and husband were so delighted because those are their favorite foods!   I still have a lot of food left in the fridge which will last several more days.

So, needless to say, last night was not a very good night for my diet, but that's perfectly fine with me.  Although I did eat and drink with abandon, I didn't stuff myself up and I'll just pick up my diet again this morning.

Have a good day!

Breakfast: none (wasn't hungry)

lunch: leftover mussels marinara, naan bread with hummus 100 about 450

snack: peanuts 100 (550)

dinner:

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 38 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 09/22/2010:
Sounds like you had a really fun outing with your friend yesterday. Always good to spend some time lunching with friends is what I say. Hope you have a wonderful day today. :-)

KathyBlue on 09/22/2010:
That's a big achievement, congrats to your friend! 2 years of consistent dieting, now that's difficult... I started in January 2010, and I'm getting worse by the time - just unable to keep 1400 kcal/day target... hope I get the spirit back. mango, yummmmy, I looooove mango... too bad it's very expensive here (4 eur/kg!!!).

teensybikini on 09/22/2010:
That sounds like an awesome night. You definitely can jump back on the wagon today. We have similar goals and it definitely is do-able. Have a great day. Eat some of those awesome leftovers too!

hollybelle on 09/22/2010:
YAY for the good night and visit with your friend. I'm grateful my husband is healthy weight and lifestyle for the most part.....no conflict for when I look "hot"! We have been married 20 years, too. Recently 2 of our friends - married for as long or longer - have split up. We have been asking ourselves "what are they thinking?" SIGH!

Umpqua on 09/22/2010:
All those gourmet foods sound fantastic! That's great about your friend, what an inspiration. And also encouraging that she's not starving or depriving herself to maintain her wait. Very encouraging!

V on 09/22/2010:
:) Good on losing weight and not your man :) When you are maintaining the weight possible to eat what you want and not gain the weight back, well within reason of course ;)

V on 09/22/2010:
Good job on tossing that scale where it belongs! LOL

sweetpea1977 on 09/22/2010:
lol, that scale would drive me insane!

Glad you had a great time with your friend. What is the name of the gourmet shop you went to? Just curious. I have some relatives that live up there and wanted to tell them about it in case they hadn't run across it. Sounds like an amazing place!!

Have a healthy day!

moogy on 09/22/2010:
It is definitely the scale - it couldn't possibly be you!!!! I have the same trouble with mine. I wish someone would make a reliable form of weighing us!!!!!:) Your day sounded just about perfect, lunch, food perusing and purchasing, a feast for your family - that's lovely. I hope you have another great day.

breakaway on 09/22/2010:
The main thing is you picked up where you left off once you got home. That is SO hard to do...at least if your me it is ;) Wonderful job!
