Hello all!  I'm back from my short trip to Lucern, Switzerland - a nice break from the moving activities.  It rained most of the time, but it was nice, nonetheless, to be there.  Lucern is a beautiful city and the food is just wonderful - my daughter was in the mood for pasta, so we ate dinner at the  spaghetteria in the above photo - I had mussels in marinara sauce, green tossed salad and red wine, my daughter had risoto...  Italian food in one of the most traditional places in Switzerland, lol.  Well, fondue is not the best diet foods anyway, and my daughter hates it :(

So today I'm back home and to my strict eating regime...

Have a great day, all!

Breakfast: Coffee, 2 eggs 1/2 english muffin

Lunch: chili beans, cucumber salad

snack: carrots, laughing cow cheese

dinner: chicken breast/veggies curry,   green tossed  cucmber salad, red wine

I shall not eat any more today, good night!

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

moogy on 08/04/2010:
Glad you are back safely and that you had a good time. Love mussels in marinara sauce, yum!

Great photo and I'm glad you had a nice visit. The architecture reminds me of northern Italy, we went to Bolzano/Bozen on the Austrian border and it was a wonderful mix of language and cuisine.

I booked my trip and hotel acomodations for my trip tomorrow.  HUbby can't come, so I'll go with daughter - must take advantage of the fact that we are still in Europe and everything is so close.  Lucern is only 3 hours away.  Yes, I shall take lots of photos - I hope it's going to be a nice day.  I already asked the parents to pick up their girls at 9am, sharp, because I'm catching the train at 10.

I baked chocolate chip cookies for the girls (daughter and 4 friends) who are eating them in the tent that we put up outside in the yard - so cute.  They don't seem to mind that it's raining and they just love being out there, chatting.  I joined them in the tent for 5 minutes and they all welcomed me in :)  I'm still considered to be the cool mom who goes to watch Iggy Pop with them ;)  I will convince them to come in the house to sleep, though.  I don't think I will be able to sleep much if they sleep outside... I'm a worrier.

Today is the "4th of July" of Switzerland, their national day, so there will lots of fireworks.  We'll all go to the lake to watch the festivities and the fireworks display once they start.

Good night you all!

******************************************************

The weekedn has been great!  Yesterday, I worked on my oil paintings by putting protective coating and making frames for them.  I made 10 wooden frames for my little paintings (6" x 6") and they look really nice!  It's a great feeling of accomplishment.

Food wise, it went very well - my hormones are not wreaking havoc anylonger, so I feel good and in control.

Today I have four 13 year old girls camping in our backyard. My daughter's last foray into camping in the wild, while in the safety of our own enclosed backyard.  They will build a fire in our firepit, roast marshmalows and most likely jump in the pool to burn the energy.  I am in charge of ordering the pizza from our local pizzaria.   I shall be making my own low cal dinner....

Tomorrow I'll be going to Lucern for a two-day trip.

Breakfast: coffee, muesli

lunch: salad, soup

dinner: soup, pasta, salad

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 08/01/2010:
thank you for the sushi vs. teppan yaki explanation! I appreciate it so much! :) I wonder if I'm on a low-fat or low-carb diet.. I think I'm on both, as I am forbidden to eat fats and sweets, alcoholic drinks, enchidos... Two-day trip.. I smell a lot of photos!!!!! :D

moogy on 08/01/2010:
Glad your weekend went well. Good job keeping those girls safe and happy in the backgarden. I can't remember the last time I had a real pizzaria pizza, it must be about seven years ago. I wouldn't eat cheap ones if someone paid me. Have a great trip.

sweetpea1977 on 08/01/2010:
How cute - all the girls camping outside! We set up our tent in the backyard this past spring and Ethan loved sleeping in there (with both of us out there). I slept pretty well out there in the cool crisp air. There is no way I could do it now in this hot summer. I cant wait to go real camping with him and his little sibling! :)

Enjoy your trip!!

Good morning!

So I did take another longuish nap yesterday aftrnoon for I still felt sluggish.  That's how it usually is, at this time of month, so I'm not going to panic or anything.

I did feel hungrier, though, so I had my non-dieting fare of food for dinner, including red wine.    We had guests for dinner and had a lovely evening eating outside on the patio.

Have a great weekend, all!

Breakfast: coffee, tea, muesli

snack:  pistachios

lunch: leftover stuff (chicken bbq, chili beans)

snack: cheese

dinner: thai salad (bean noodles, cucumber, carrots), red wine

I'm done for the day, good night!

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 07/31/2010:

Thank you so much to all the sweet and kind hearts who REALLY helped me out going through a difficult day, with your thoughtful, kind and wise comments - I truly appreciate them.

I finally figured out why I was feeling that way - TOM.  And TOM can be really hard on one when she is going through perimenopause, but then I digress and go into TMI territory.  Anyway, all is not well as yet, but at least I know what's going on and can take the proper medication.

So, I did end up taking a long nap in the afternoon (slept for 3 hours!) and felt much better - like a normal person.

Today is a new day and it's going to be a good one.

Breakfast: banana bread, tea, water

snack: turkey roll ups

lunch: potato/mushroom soup, sausage

snack: cheese popcorn

dinner : chili beans, chicken bbq, salad, stir fried rice/vegies

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

moogy on 07/30/2010:
Well, you sound like a new woman. Or at least a well rested woman. I am at that funny age as well. Never know what is happening from month to month. Anyway, have a wonderful day. I will catch up with your day after I have had a good night's sleep. Hopefully!LOL

sweetpea1977 on 07/30/2010:
aww, sorry you had a rough day yesterday. Im sure a lot of also had to do with the hormones related to TOM. Mine get super-unbalanced right before TOM hits. So, don't blame your mind for the slip-ups. Blame those darn out-of-control-hormones. I am glad you had folks help you through it yesterday (sorry I wasnt one of them, I somehow missed your entry!!). Yesterday's help will make today a better day for ya!

loveray on 07/30/2010:
glad you are feeling better!! have a great weekend. xoxo

Hope you are feeling better when you get this comment. I'm fixing to take off from here and go to the next town over. Catch ya later... :-)

It has been so hard for me to stay good, today, the first time I feel this way since the begining of my diet!   I just ate lunch 2 hrs ago but I am so hungry - ravenous, really.  So I've attacked my daughter's chocolate bar in the fridge - ate about 6 squares.  I wanted to eat ramen noodle soup but decided I must not.   So, in order to kill the urge to eat the noodles I ended up, guess what, eating!  I ate 6 very spicy olives and 3 marinated hot peppers that come with the olives. Let's see if this is going to help - I feel awful, so out of control. I think I will take a nap to see if this feeling goes away.

I had a very good dieting/eating wisely/living in the moment day, yesterday.  I had a lovely afternoon tea, chatting with my visiting friend from London on our terrace.  We watched an ominous looking weather pattern approaching and subsequently pouring icy cold rain on thirsty summer grass. We watched our two, swimming suit clad, 13-year-olds running on the grass in the rain and taking pictures of each other's disheveled state.  Life is sweet!

I also got lots of exercise cleaning the refrigerators and freezer in the garage...

Last but not least, for those who don't know, I'm moving back to the US, yay! Have a good day, all!

Breakfast: muesli, coffee, tea, 1 banana

snack: mozarela cheese

lunch: leftover Chinese food (veggies/tofu/beef), tossed green salad cucumber and shreded carrot salad

chocolate, spicy olives

snack: turkey rollups

dinner: porc tenderloin with grilled veggies. tossed green salad with tomatoes potato soup, sausage, some bread, red wine

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

V on 07/29/2010:

Stress will MAKE YOU EXTRA HUNGRY! Your body may be saying, "Hey, Girl, you've got to have LOTS OF ENERGY to get this MOVE DONE, so you better give me EXTRA FOOD!!!"

Hope you're having a good day today. :-)

Umpqua on 07/29/2010:
That's great that you're moving back to the US, and I agree that moving will make you extra hungry. I hope you have a good afternoon!

biscottibody59 on 07/29/2010:
Oh, thanks for your comment and support as usual! I'm actually thrilled to be doing as well as I am right now--when I wrote the entry I had the image of a climbing wall with the number '154' on one of the toeholds:-) My job is to keep going, but like you mentioned where I am now isn't too bad either! Holding steady can be a good thing.

Your entry rang a bell--I know I eventually will eat what I wanted in the first place in addition to the thing I "should" eat. I think it's a normal response.

Sounds like you're enjoying your surroundings--taking it all in for a few of the last times you can--lovely images you describe! Hang in there and don't be too hard on yourself. Remember how writing your food down can bring things into perspective if you can make time for it too.

Don't give up, but do enjoy yourself!

loveray on 07/29/2010:
hang in there, lady! i know the stress must be creeping up internally. just try to be with the uneasy feelings- its not the most pleasurable task, but you will be rewarded BIG TIME for listening to your emotions rather than covering them up with food. wishing you strength, love and compassion toward self. cant wait for you to be on US soil again!!

legcramps on 07/29/2010:
Awesome! I mean about the living in the moment part of your entry. I live for those moments, and they come all too rarely.

moogy on 07/29/2010:
Moving house, let alone moving continents, is one of the most stressfull things we can do. Be kind to yourself, If you need a little something to feed your hungry body or even your feelings, have an extra healthy meal. It may put you over your calorie count, but your body will use it up and it wont show up on the scale. You have enough to worry about without worrying about losing weight. How about just maintaining until you get settled into your new home?

nita51 on 07/30/2010:
Have a great Friday! Hugs!

So it's been like this every 4 - 5 years in all my married life - we move.  We don't move just across town or another city.  We move to another Continent, to the other side of the globe, to exotic lands, to lands where they speak languages you've never dream of understanding, much less speak.  Miraculously enough, at the end of each assignment I can always manage to speak the language with the locals, make myself understood at the market, make local friends, chat with the neighbors.  It's been a very enriching experience living in French speaking Switzerland in the past 4.5 years.  Au revoir!

I have so much stuff in the freezer and pantry I must use before we move, ugh!

I had wine and a bit too much of dinner last night.  Today will be better.

Breakfast: coffee, tea, muesli

snack: veggie quiche

lunch: chinese stir fry with tofu/veggies/beef strips

snack: 1 piece of chocolate, tea, Japanese rice crackers

Dinner: tortelini with tomato sauce, salad

Had a great day, I'm going to bed. Good night!

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

balloonlady on 07/28/2010:
Sounds like fun, where ya moving next? I travel a lot doing my face and body painting, but can't seem to get my husband to ever leave Oklahoma : ( I have built my dream house here, so its not too bad, but it is all churches and fast food here. I guess thats why we are number 2 on the most fat states...

Maria7 on 07/28/2010:
When I was growing up, we moved around a lot in my Daddy's line of work until I was around 8 years old...I went to one different school after another in different towns (but in the same state).

I know you will miss your friends over there when you leave. But you probably have lots of friends over here in the States looking forward to seeing you again! :-)

Maria7 on 07/28/2010:

moogy on 07/28/2010:
I thought I left a post last night. It was gone this morning. Where are you moving to? Did I miss the announcement. My husband was in the Air Force for 28 years, so we were nomads, every 3-4 years we would get itchy feet and want to move. We got to see a lot of our country - which is a good thing. I believe travelling and living in different places expands the understanding and tolerance of other peoples.

sweetpea1977 on 07/28/2010:
I "met" you in Switzerland and am sad you are leaving there as I have loved hearing about (and seeing the photos/paintings) all your European adventures. However, I am also looking forward to having you back home as we'll be in the same time zone. :)

2luvself on 07/28/2010:
Wow that sounds like a dream. I want to move to Grenada Island but moving abroad seems hard to do when you have in-laws telling you its too naive to think you can do stuff like that. So it gives me hope seeing someone actually doing it.

So I did not "diet" last night at the party, actually, I ate and drank to my heart's content and I don't regret it. Even had dessert, which was some kind of cherry cobbler with whyskey and vanila ice cream.  The truth is, because I've been eating so little recently, I felt that even though I ate to my heart's content, I didn't eat a lot after all - little amounts of each dish did fill me up and I did not feel like going for seconds.  I felt really satisfied, yet,  not guilty.

So today, I don't feel ravenous and it will be much easier for me to stay in line.   I shall be doing some heavy cleaning today, in preparation to the big move in 2 weeks.

The weather has been lovely, in the 60's.  It's sunny but it still feels like fall.  Enjoy while it lasts!  Have a great day, everyone!

Breakfast: coffee, tea, 1/2 banana

snack: 1 poached egg

lunch: tossed green salad, small ww cracker, baked beans

snack: 20 pistachios

dinner: hamburger (no bun) with catsup and tossed green salad, ww yogurt

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 24 lbs to go!

I am glad the party went well and that the weather is fine. Heavy cleaning is really great exercise - I think cleaning walls is the hardest. Looks like a good meal plan. Enjoy your day.

I love parties!! I even went for a party last saturday.. Not much food only Alcohol... It's okay once in a while. I only mix my drinks with Juice and Green Tea (Yuck) I guess that will keep my cal intake down. Lolz... It a cold and windy here in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Was looking at the Temperature During lunch it was 28 degree Celsius / 82.4 degree Fahrenheit

KathyBlue on 07/26/2010:
yummmm, vanilla ice-cream! Parties are cool, I behave on parties. If I want to be really really honest,I dislike people seeing me eating ya know. I'm fat, and they must think "uhh watch the pig eating cakes, drinking etc. etc."

loveray on 07/26/2010:

V on 07/26/2010:
Good that you didn't overdo it! I am also glad that you are not beating yourself over it,IT

Maria7 on 07/26/2010:
You know what? Having had experience with attending dinner parties and having either NOT attended them cause of fear I'd overindulge OR either attending them and carefully counting calories and having that mostly on my mind and not really enjoying them much, I finally came to a conclusion that I would simply allow myself to eat up to 1000 calories if I wanted to at them and go to them if I want to and don't worry about it. This is what I decided probably close to a year or so ago. Glad to hear you had a good time and didn't deprive yourself! :-)

So I did have a good day, yesterday, once the headache was gone and I even lost one pound overnight!  Yay to me!

I enjoyed Saturday doing chores, cooking, cleaning, ironing and enjoying the moment.  Even had some time to sit down with a cup of coffee in the terrace with Hubby, chatting and enjoying the cooler weather that hit the region (it feels like fall, already) Hubby has been so busy at work that we hardly have any time to sit down and chat nowadays - it was a treat just to sit down and chat and laugh.  I cherish these moments...

Have a great day, you all!

breakfast: coffee, tea, eggs, ham

snack: pistachios

lunch: rice cassarole, chili beans

snack: hummus, celery

dinner: don't know yet, we've been invited to a dinner party

The other day, when I was going through my stuff and found a pair of ski pants size 8 (which I donated to good will,) I realized that when I was that size, I clearly remember that I felt fat and felt I needed to lose weight...  I don't know why I'm bringing this up,  honestly.  Just felt like throwing it in here.  I know that if I get to become size 8 again, I shall feel confident about myself....

Good morning!

It was not a very good day, yesterday, after all because I ended up having one too many ribs that I made for my family and friends for dinner, plus red wine.  Oh well. The combination of red wine and the heavy porc ribs is not a very good one - I have a headache right now.

So I am so shocked to learn that the Glacier Express (train from St Moritz to Zermatt, in Switzerland) derailed yesterday and there were fatalities.   It's the very same train I took with my daughter 2 summers ago.  It's one of the most beautiful train rides I have ever taken.

Breakfast: cofee, eggs

snack: hummus, celery mozarela cheese

lunch: chili beans, salad

snack: Pistachios

dinner: rice with veggies (green beans, bell pepper, onions), green salad, green peas

popcorn

good night!

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 25 lbs to go!

it happens... i travelled on the line of Tua (linha do rio Tua), it's a marvellous landscape, north of Portugal near RĂ©gua and Mirandela... and a bit later it derailed and there were also fatalities... there's not much chance when you have the rails next to a riverbed with rocks and stuff.

Drink lots of water and some Tylenol and try to get a nap in and you will feel like a new woman!

Again you're on that "mother of the year" short list in my book--you only have a 13 y/o daughter once--what great memories you'll both have!

Well I overdid it on pasta last night--so I know how you feel! Get right back into your activities and food "watching" today--you'll be okay!

Yes, you bring up a good point. I remember the size I "used to be" and thought I was heavy and would LOVE to be that size again and would not think I was heavy - weird, huh?

Would it help to right down your goals and then break them down into really small goals. That way you can gain confidence as you acheive those goals. Like eat healthy - just for one day - then build on that. I find that looking at ALL the weight I have to lose is too much to cope with, so I only have to eat healthy today. I will worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

You know what?????? I'm a size 8 and I keep checking the mirror to see if I look ANY fat. Even windows I walk by. I don't. But try to tell that to me! Thanks for sharing that. I've really been having to deal with the fact that I'm over 140.0 and feeling discouraged about that, but at the same time, I'm still a size 8 easily. I may be too much a perfectionist about some things. (And others not enough, hahaha!)

Hope you're having a good nite's rest, since it is 7ish pm here, it must be after 12ish am there.

Thanks for sharing your size 8 story with us. Its interesting how a piece of clothing can change they way we look at ourselves. Anyway, you will be a size 8 again. Think positive and take care of yourself and good things will happen! :)

Anyway, I totally appreciate the sweet comment you left me. I guess all the pretend potty runs (him hanging out with us while we used the restroom) really helped. We are pretty amazed at how quickly he came in tune with his body as well as how self-sufficient he is with his potty habit. :-)
