I really like the cod soup I made yesterday, which I had all day long,ha! Very tasty - I religiously followed the recipe (except that I used fish instead of shrimp) and even bought fresh lemongrass and citrus leaves for it - it turned out really good, just like the soup they serve at the Thai restaurants around here. I think I will be able to serve this soup when I have guests in the future. It's called Tom Yum soup, just in case you wondered.

So, I'm thawing the fridge today in preparation for the guests that are coming to town, from the US, next week. I don't remember having to thaw freezers before coming to this country... oh well. I ended up with thawed salmon, cod and chicken breasts this morning, plus so many other things that I just tossed in the trash, what a waste :( so I must cook those items if I don't want to throw them away, too
Yesterday, a couple of young ladies were just behind me on horsebacks while I walked/jogged. Because I didn't like having them just behind me, I jogged a lot, as fast as I could go. 4.09 miles in less than 1 hour has been my record - thanks to those horsies. They NEVER overtook me, ha!

I have set a goal for myself: I shall lose a couple of pounds a week in the next two months. That's 8 weeks X 2= 16lbs. If that goes well, I shall continue the same regimen for another month - my goal is to lose about 25 lbs by the summer, when we move back to the US. Wish me luck!

I went for a 2.5 mile jog with my daughter over the weekend, did very well and had a great time. She is very active (dances 4 times a week) but when it comes to walking/jogging I think we are equals :) Also, I taught her 2 friends who were here for a sleepover, over the weekend, how to play the wii game dance revolution - ha! I just couldn't believe I still could teach these high-tech/computer age kids a thing or two. As a result I'm now considered to be a very cool mom
!
I ran out of cat food and must run to the store...
breakfast: leftover fried rice, tea
snack:none
lunch: thai soup with bean noodles
snack:sushi (too many)
dinner: asparagus with garlic and ginger (very light dinner - didn't feel hungry because of big snack in the pm)
Exercise: 5.5 mile bike ride (went to store to get cat food by bike), later I walked/jogged for 4 miles. Very successful day, indeed!

It's been so freezing cold and windy here that I don't feel like going out for a walk at all.
Hubby had his b-day on Sunday, so we had a party - lots of different types of cheese that I bought across the border in France, fruits, breads of all sorts and lots of wine. And two types of cake as well as chocolate truffles... no further comment.
The people who are going to live in our house, when we move away this summer, came to the party and took lots of pictures of all the rooms so they can get going with their plans to decorate. Since I knew that was coming (the picture taking), I cleaned the house spotless - must have spent a whole day doing it and I hurt my back. Next time, I shall be hiring professionals. But, when I think of all the calories I spent, it really feels good.
Breakfast: tea, slice of bread
Lunch: chicken/pasta soup
Snack:
dinner:chicken curry and rice
1 hr walk taking photos

So, yesterday I walked/jogged 4.9 miles using my nordic poles (BTW, I use Google earth to measure my path when I came back home..) I also did 10 min sit ups in front of the TV - I still feel the sore body parts this morning but I feel good!
We are moving this summer back to the US, Wash DC area, after 4.5 years here in Geneva. I must get the house squeaky clean for the inspectors to come and check for damage/repairs next week... must get going with the cleaning sooner than later. I think I shall leave it for later because I feel like painting today...
Today's food:
Breakfast: tea, oatmeal
Lunch: calico beans (garbanzo, red, white beans with pork and vegetebles, stewed)
S: toast, salami slices
Dinner: red wine (two glasses)split pea soup with bacon, veggies. green salad
Exercise:no walking today, just a few sit ups.
I found pasteis de nata - the most traditional pastry of Portugal, at the local department store food shop. Didn't know about it until our last trip abroad.. now I have another weakness when I go to the patisserie, ugh! I bought only one, though.... Yum!
