I took this photo of L a nc e Ar mst ron g last Saturday when I went to see Le Tour de France near my house.  I live in Switzerland near the border with France, so when I heard that the Tour was going to pass nearby, in the Jura Mountains, about 30 min drive from our house, we went to cheer for Lance.  Anyway, I was SO luck to get this shot of him because he passed SO fast in front of me, like wind!

Just in case you are wondering, Lance did very well on Saturday, when we saw him, but did poorly on Sunday after falling 3 times. :(

So, I'm trying to follow the South Beach Diet just because that's a diet I know, it's healthy and has worked for me in the past. However, nothing is set on stone and although at this stage I should not be eating carbo, I am quite flexible - for instance, yesterday I had a WW craker just because I felt like it.  I also did not exercise but ironed my husband's shirts for 1.5 hours, ha!

I did feel very grumpy yesterday, with feeling hungry and all, but I hope today will be better/easier.

I hope you'll have a great day!

Breakfast: poached egg with small ww cracker, tea, coffee

snack: celery sticks with laughing cow cheese

lunch: split pea soup, tossed green salad

snack: turkey rollup

dinner: grilled chicken breast with roasted vegetables, tossed salad

Progress as of today: -2 lbs lost so far, only 32 lbs to go!

Hello all: With the upcoming move an all (moving from Switzerland back to the USA), I've been very stressed out recently and eating more than I should... actually I was feeling out of control.  So about a week ago, finally, I decide that I must go back to watching my food and step on the scale again.  Of course, I've been avoiding facing the reality of weight control for so long and the results show around my waist, actually, all over my body and on the scale. Ugh!

breakfast: tea, 2 eggs poached

snack: celery with laughing cow cheese

lunch: green salad, grilled chicken and fish kabobs

snack: turkey rollups with cilantro

dinner: roasted veggies (eggplant, peppers, leeks) Lentils (stewed with carrots) tossed green salad

Exercise: wii dance

Progress as of today: -2 lbs lost so far, only 32 lbs to go!

tangalyn on 07/12/2010:
hello, good luck with all of ur goals, im sure ull do just fine reaching them, have a wonderful day :)

loveray on 07/12/2010:
so glad to see you are back- have missed you! where are you moving to in the US? It must be a very sad thing to leave a place as gorgeous as Switzerland. Take your time, take breaks and take care of yourself. I am moving too, and I get easily anxious and want to eat. Im not doing the very best possible, but I guess knowing that there is a possibility to eat more under stress is helpful too. good luck and <3

Hi there! I've been where you are--scalewise--bodywise--and I know how you really hit the ground running when you first started posting here. This journey always has its pitfalls, but you can get out of this one and get back to your routine:-)

You're a disciplined woman and if you ease back into it and treat yourself well, you'll do just fine again!

Glad to see you back!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/12/2010:
your dinner sounds SOOOO good! wow. you always eat things i really enjoy! thanks for the "hello!"

Maria7 on 07/12/2010:
Hi, Selena! So good to hear from you again! I've really missed 'talking' with you and reading your entries! How are you and your family doing? What state are you moving to? Are your 3 cats coming back to the states with you? There is a big black wild male cat that comes here to visit sometimes and I feed him (also feed the neighbor's cat sometimes)...you know how I LOVE cats.

As for the weight thing, DD helps us be accountable to ourselves with the loving support of others who understand and are going through their own battles with getting to their goalweights (and STAYING THERE). I know you got down pretty low before...was it the 150's??? And I know you took BEAUTIFUL nature walks and shared happy, cheerful, uplifting photos with us here at DD. I would sit there a looooonnnnggg time staring at the gorgeous photos you took on your walks and I was going through a very, very difficult time with my Mother not being treated right in the first nursing home she was in and it really helped me during that time. Also, here lately, for the first time, I've begun to have a 'yearning' to try painting. I've begun collecting art...I have some of Thomas Kinkade, and 3 of Nicky Boehme. My Mom was always the artist of the family and she won awards on her paintings way back before I came along in her early years. The more I study paintings, the more I think I can do it! I just don't know where/how to start, nor what to purchase for a basic kit to begin painting with...any suggestions???

When are you moving back here to the states? I know it must be challenging, moving, after being in another country for so long. But you have been blessed and enriched with enjoying the experience of Switzerland and from the photos you've taken and shared, I know it is such a beautiful place!

Hope you have a wonderful, happy day! :-) Love, Maria

KathyBlue on 07/12/2010:
Wonderful news, you're back! Not so wonderful about the weight gain, but I'm sure you'll get back in track again! ;-) I missed u! xoxo

legcramps on 07/12/2010:
Goodness, sounds like you've got a lot going on right now!

Maria7 on 07/12/2010:
What about oil paints? Do you ever paint with oil paint? Any suggestions?

Maria7 on 07/12/2010:
Thank you for the info. I, too, am allergic to different things, one of them paint fumes from someone painting inside (but doesn't seem to bother me outside much). So I hadn't thought of being allergic to oil paint, too. Didn't realize oil paint had a smell to it. (Hadn't thought about it.) I appreciate the recommendations. Thanks a lot. :-)

I really like the cod soup I made yesterday, which I had all day long,ha!  Very tasty -   I religiously followed the recipe (except that I used fish instead of shrimp) and even bought fresh lemongrass and citrus leaves for it - it turned out really good, just like the soup they serve at the Thai restaurants around here.  I think I will be able to serve this soup when I have guests in the future.   It's called Tom Yum soup, just in case you wondered.

I think I walked a little too much, yesterday.  My legs are really sore this morning....

Breakfast: coffee, ww toast

snack: cheese, crackers

lunch: meat/tomato sauce leftover pasta, leftover bean soup

snack: cold cuts, raw veggie sticks

So, I'm thawing the fridge today in preparation for the guests that are coming to town, from the US, next week.  I don't remember having to thaw freezers before coming to this country... oh well.  I ended up with thawed salmon, cod and chicken breasts this morning, plus so many other things that I just tossed in the trash, what a waste :(  so I must cook those items if I don't want to throw them away, too

Yesterday, a couple of young ladies were just behind me on horsebacks while I walked/jogged.  Because I didn't like having them just behind me, I jogged a lot, as fast as I could go.  4.09 miles in less than 1 hour has been my record - thanks to those horsies.  They NEVER overtook me, ha!

breakfast: coffee

snack: thai style fish (cod)soup, crackers

lunch: grilled salmon, salad

snack: more cod soup

dinner: chicken salad, crackers with cheeses - i bought a nice selection of blue, brie, etc on sale, yum!

exercise: 4.9 mile walk/jog in nyon (I'm so tired and will sleep well...)

Progress as of today: 6 lbs lost so far, only 29 lbs to go!

loveray on 03/18/2010:
awesome on the run! thats how i feel when i go trail walking sometimes - i hate when people are right behind me and i start to speed up! kind of annoying, but it ends up being a blessing in disguise. wishing you happiness!

thinnside40 on 03/18/2010:
I can remember my parent's doing a yearly "thaw"...Dad would get out his HUGE salmon fishing cooler and put everything in it and whatever thawed before time to put back in the freezer was what was for supper... Great memories! Us kids HATED it then... ;-)

Great menu! (hehehehehehehe)

I went for a 2.5 mile jog with my daughter over the weekend, did very well and had a great time.  She is very active (dances 4 times a week) but when it comes to walking/jogging I think we are equals :)  Also, I taught her 2 friends who were here for a sleepover, over the weekend, how to play the wii game dance revolution - ha!  I just couldn't believe I still could teach these high-tech/computer age kids a thing or two.  As a result I'm now considered to be a very cool mom  !

I ran out of cat food and must run to the store...

breakfast: leftover fried rice, tea

snack:none

lunch: thai soup with bean noodles

snack:sushi (too many)

dinner: asparagus with garlic and ginger (very light dinner - didn't feel hungry because of big snack in the pm)

Exercise: 5.5 mile bike ride (went to store to get cat food by bike), later I walked/jogged for 4 miles. Very successful day, indeed!

Progress as of today: 6 lbs lost so far, only 29 lbs to go!

Do you have a basket on your bike or did you carry the bag?... Have a good night's sleep!!!!
