Cat-nap in Cairo, Egypt
Ladies, sounds like there are many similarities among us when looking for kicks as well as searching for balances in our lives... the difference lies in the fact that you can get a McD's sunday for 99cents in the US and I have to pay nearly 4 dollars (the Dollar is now so weak against the Suiss Francs) for the same tiny, weeney, little cup of that wonderfully sinful delight that goes straight to one's waist! To tell the truth, I have never been a fan o McD's and rarely frequent one (maybe once or twice a year) and am not going back so soon. Promise!
Last night, or rather, this morning at 3am I had to take my dear hubby to the ER as he complained of chest pains, dizziness and ringing ears. It was scary but all is well - his heart is shipshape but he needs to lose weight (imagine that!) and do some physiotheraphy for a heart unrelated thing.
I shall be taking strategic naps today.
Have a great day, everyone!
B: oatmeal, eggs, coffe
L: salad, hummus, ww crackers
D: chicken/swiss chard/pasta soup

Vegetable stand in Cairo, Egypt
Long weekend for Hubby but regular school day for daughter and a busy day for me. Painted, finished reading my book, cooked, cleaned, ironed - and lived the moment! It was a good day, overall.
So, I was reading Hollybelle's macarroon incident when I remembered that I had a sunday ice cream incident at Mc'Donald's last evening, hehe. I normally walk during the time my daughter is at dance (1,1/2h) but last evening, after 1/2 h walk I decided to stop at McDonalds to sit and finish my book which was getting to the end and was really good. I was split between ordering a cappucino or a sunday ice cream and opted for the later due to my being so tired after walking. It defeated the purpose and it was a daft choice but that's ok. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Breakfast: Coffee, tea, ww toast
Snack:slices of ham with mustard
Lunch:chicken noodle soup, salad
Dinner: steamed fish. green salad, curried veggies
Exercise: 1 hr brisk walk

So what you did yesterday is perfectly understandable to me.
I guess what i'm saying is...it happens. Move on!
Hope you had a great day!

Piramids in Sakkara, Egypt
My cats are on a diet, too! I had asked the caretaker (of the cats) to give them a lot of food when we were away because they tend to get on each other's nerves when they are hungry and they might hurt each other... she did, indeed! So, now they are like joyfull little balls of fur!
Weekend was great: I enjoyed cooking, reading and just hanging out with my family. One of the dishes was this zuchini/leeks/tomato stew dish that tasted very good. Served with salmon, it was even healthier. I hope everyone had a very restful and happy weekend!
Maria: great to hear your mom is doing well after the surgery!

Good morning, everyone!!!
Last evening, I walked in the cold and worked up a sweat - it was nice and I felt so full of energy! I also picked up a beautiful European style antique brass chandelier at the thrift shop where I found my persian rug last year. I was thrilled with the find and with the price - a steal! Must remember to stop there once in a while during my walks to look for more treasures...
I had forgotten how delicious liver and onions are..... yum!
I love the taste of warm poached eggs in the morning - it really warms you up from the inside out!
Weightlossyoyo - Making poached eggs is simple but requires a bit of a skill. Break an egg and drop it in boiling water that has been stired around into a whirl - drop the egg right in the middle of the whirl. The whirl of the water will help the white of the egg gather around the yolk into a neat shape - If you don't swirl the water before dropping the egg, the whites will spread all over in the water. It takes practice but after a couple of tries, you are an expert. Make sure you don't overcook the egg, I cook mine for less than a minute!
Geevee - I make my own hummus, too. It's easy and inexpensive.
Hollybelle - yay for the 11th day!
Maria - I have been posting my Egypt trip photos for you! I hope you are well and healthy!

I've been reading your entries and seeing the photos you are sharing with us. My Mom had surgery Tuesday. She did well through it (DD and I were at the hospital with her) and was still doing well when I visited her yesterday. It was outpatient.
I hope you and yours are well. Sounds like you had some really nice thrift shop finds!! Love, Maria

Good morning! It has been a great day so far and it's not even 11 am, yet! I've spent 1& 1/2 hr shovelling snow and am done with my exercise - my neighborhood is a winter wonderland! Oh, how I love the snow!
Yesterday was a very good day, I ate well and walked, although for only 1/2 hr. There is so much snow on the ground that I think I spend more calories when I walk, hehe.

Good morning everyone!
Thank you so much for the most thoughtful comments you left for me yesterday when I needed most - you made my day! Thank you, thank you! And I shall add some photos of Egypt later, thank you Maria! BTW, the cats were so happy to see us back, Selina follows me around like a dog would and InkyStinky has been more amorous than ever before. And Tony, well Tony has been the same - he is happy as long as he is fed.... wet food.
I'm happy to report that I was able to stick to my eating moderately plan throughout the day and even went for a 45 min walk in the cold, snowy, dangerous paths around the town where my daughter goes to dance class, while waiting for her - it really felt very good to be back walking! I also went grocery shopping - refrigerator was empty of good/healthy foods after being away for so long - now I have a good stash of veggies in the fridge that will keep me away from the more dangerous foods.
I baked a carrot cake with cream-cheese frosting for my friend who lost her mom over the weekend. The temptation of tasting it was enormous but I was good and am very proud of myself.
I'm looking forward to another successful day, today, for this morning I weighed myself and was 4 pounds lighter than yesterday morning (!!!!). Yippeee! I know it's just water, and that's perfectly fine with me!
Breakfast: coffee, poached eggs

As for Tony, he must be the gray tabby cat I saw in a photo on you past entry.
Hello to all! Just returned from my holidays over the weekend and I'm back to DD for motivation, yet again. Last evening I went for a long walk and felt the difference in my stamina (very low), what a difference from a few months back! AND, WHAT A SHOCK TO SEE MY NEW WEIGHT THIS MORNING! It's frustrating and embarrassing to gain back so much, so easily, while it's so hard to lose! I look so big and unhealthy, and just feel out-of-control. For this vacation, I only had a couple of pants that fit me out of my entire wardrobe and nothing looked good. I look terrible it's just so embarrassing. I HIT ROCK BOTTOM! Anyway, I'm in for another challenge. BTW, the sightseeing in Egypt was wonderful, the piramids were just fantastic - so was the food, unfortunately! Have a great day, everyone! I'll do my best today!

and also now craving ice cream, oh no!!! :-) It's ok, there's none in the house, and I'm not about to go outside in this freezing icy weather!
You are making some great progress, keep it up!
