Calories went very well, yesterday, yay!  No exercise because I was beat after 3 days of gym in a row....  today, I'll be back there for sure!

Hubby decided he needs to lose a few pounds and decided to go on the southbeach diet thing.  I went to to the store and bought all kinds of healthy greens, nuts, lean meats, etc.  I even bought okra and collard greens!  We are well supplied for a few days! 

Today the weather is FANTASTIC!  Sunny, dry and cool.  I opened all the windows and turned off the air conditioner.  Will enjoy it until it lasts....  for a couple of hours, haha!

Today's food so far: spinach, egg. cheese omelet 350, coffee with 1/2 1/2 60,  lettuce/tomato,olives,nuts salad 300, almonds 100 (810)mashed cauliflower50, chili beans200, green salad100, blueberries100(1260)

Collard Greens: I LOVE THEM!!! I found a smoked turkey leg and got REAL excited because my friend told me to use that in place of a ham hock. Grabbed the turkey leg and then went to find...the...collllaarrrd...WHAT???NO COLLARD GREENS????!!!! Well, what did I expect!! Cest la vie!! Hopefully someday I will find collard greens in my area! I think it's up there with Broccoli Rabe...another thing I have a hard time finding out here. Oh well!!

I've recovered from whatever that was sucking the energy out of me:  I went to the gym on FRI SAT and SUN, three days in a row, worked up a sweat and felt so good!  Eating was another matter, though, but that can be fixed in the coming days, starting today!  Daughter is in camp for a whole week.  I dropped her off at georgetown university and found the campus SO beautiful!   We got a text message from her in evening and she says that one the obama daughters is in camp with them.  How cool is that!  It's even more special for her because she has been a fan of the POTUS for all these years! 

2coffees with 1/2 n 1/2 60, 1 toast with jam and cream cheese 200 (260), grilled chicken and salad350, blueberries 120, canadian bacon 100, spinach salad with yummy dressing 100, mashed cauliflower dish 100, more of the grilled chicken 100

My daughter just got so busy after my SIL left she wasn't eating, not good because she has diabeties, however, because of the diabeties she lost weight quickly and she put herself on a VLCD and the weight just seemed to drop off her. The benefits to her organs is due to the weight loss. It's a bit of a balancing act with her at all times, lose weight for the organs, diabeties acts up, change of seasons, asthma kicks in!!! All this while coping with Borderline Personality Disorder, and yet we manage, sometimes with difficulty and sometimes with prayer:)

I had a much better day, yesterday.  Went shopping with daughter at kohls and bought lots of stuff, mainly gym clothes for me.  Daughter bought several items that she'll need for her week at georgetown u camp, next week.  I'm excited about wearing my new clothes to the gym.  PT went well, too.  My shoulder was sort of frozen again due to my staying in bed on Tuesday but after the PT session it got better - I'm guessing I just have to keep moving, there is no other way.

I still feel fatigued but things are looking up. I hope you are all doing well!

It's lovely of you to help your friend as you did. I'm sure she appreciated it.

I think you are correct that to keep moving will help your shoulder tremendously. I've found that to be true with my back problems. The more active I am, the less pain when moving. Keep it up!

I'm glad you are feeling better. And yes, you are so right - keep that shoulder moving even when it hurts! I knew I had to keep biking or I would fall in the easy rut of excuses. I'm scared to put back on what I lost. I want to lose more, not go back to where I came from! I really thought with all the biking I could get away with a little more leniency in my eating, but I guess not. 2 days of cake with sugar and I feel bloated... Hope you have a stronger day!

Good news that your shoulder is feeling better :) I love shopping for new gym apparel! So your daughter is headed off to camp soon huh? If I recall correctly this is the same camp she attended last year right? I am sure she will have fun and the house will be quiet without her.. Oh and RYC, about electricity, I have so many friends here that run their A/C year round all the time even when they are not a home and it is a bit ridiculous that on a monthly basis they shell out just as much as a mortgage or rent for their careless use of power :( Okay enough of my rantings..LOL Have a good evening!

You know what they say selina, use it or lose it and as we get older it is even more accurate:) I have been pondering the drawing/painting/watercolour I am going to do of the hydrangea forest in Japan and after that fb post this morning have finally settled and of course now I have settled I need to go and get more watercolours!!! Typical! I am doing a pen and watercolour, which of course was my original idea!! Duh!

It's good to know these routines are good for what ails you (us--haha), but it's a drag that you have to keep doing them too. I hope you reach a "happy shoulder" place in time:-)

Good going on the workout clothes--I have some shorts that are "xx" years old. They weren't s'posed to last this long--I air dry all my "high tech" workout clothes like I do my bras and they have really lasted.

BTW, I got the snapshot of the plants in the roof gutter--will let you know when I get it uploaded. They've grown a lot in a few weeks with the soaking rains we've had.

I feel better today, yes!  I think I had severe allergies yesterday, or, LeakingLife may be right, maybe I overdid at my friend's gardening on Monday.  I took her to the nursery, chose the flowers and plants and planted them all in pots and planters on her deck.  A lot of pots and planters.  There is still one rose bush that I still have to put in the ground, as soon as she decides where she wants it.   Because she didn't have all the pots ready to go, I had to go to her basement and unpack them (they moved last year, but she still has unopened boxes in her basement. Slowly but surely!)   The young lady who comes to help her a few times a week is usually busy taking her to theraphy, etc. and can't help with the gardening, I guess... She can't do any of the unpacking/gardening on her own because of the stroke - she wears braces on her right leg and on her right arm - the right side of her body is paralized - she reminds me of the former arizona representative who got shot and had brain damage.  She smiles a lot and is mostly very positve and optimist although she still can't speak in sentences.  She just throws words in there and after a back-and-forth juggling of our own I sort of figure out what she wants to say....  It's a challenge.

 Anyway, I really enjoyed helping my friend out on Monday, although it was tiring.

I want to eat right today.  Also, I have PT in the afternoon.   I like that.  I hope everyone is doing well.

It is so awesome that you are able to help out your friend..You are such a a beautiful person in side and out <3 I am sure although it is a bit of a challenge,you would do that for any of your friends or family..I hope you had a wonderful day and all the love you put out there comes back to you tenfold!

I've been feeling poorly today, my whole body hurts, my throat hurts and I feel so miserable.   I slept most of the day and feel as if I'm ALWAYS sick!  I told my family that it seems like I'm always sick but my husband and daughter told me that I'm rarely sick, that most of the time I'm healthy and full of energy (which is mostly true)...  see how one's mind plays tricks on you when you are not feeling well?   I hope you are all well!

Our minds do play tricks on us. Maybe you just need a little rest. We go, go, go so much. I used to have a hard time giving myself permission to rest, but not anymore. I rest when I need to. Of course, it's easier these days with no small children, etc.

It's a rainy monday morning, temps in the 60s.  It's hard to believe it's mid-June.  It's summer vacation for daughter, so it's going to be pretty busy around here in our household.  On Friday, last day of school, I took daughter to the dmv for her driver's license permit.  She passed her exam, so now we can start to practice driving.  She had her first lesson yesterday evening at the empty parking lot of our local high-school (hubby was the teacher.)  She is excited and I am a nervous...  In the state of VA, they allow children to get their driver's permit 6 months before their 16th birthday. I'll have her drive today to the store.

We went to a party over the weekend at friends house.  Lots of wine and desserts.  Weekdays are easier to follow a routine healthier diet...   Hope you are all having a great Summer!

Plans for today: take my friend  (the friend who had a stroke and can't do much on her own) to the flower nursery to choose plants, go back to her house and do gardening for her.  She is happy I can help her, I'm happy I can help her.

I worked so hard yesterday at the physiotheraphy session and at the gym that by the end of the day I was BEAT!  Anyway, there is nothing like a 9-hour sleep (and pain killers) to cure all.  But seriously, I do need aleve pills after a session at the PT.  Eating went well but could hav been better....

I used to go to PT for my degenerative disc disease in my spine and I always came out of it hurting more than when I went in. I know what you mean about the Aleve...after long hikes I have to pop two. Awesome getting 9 hours of sleep. Lucky you!! I can't remember the last time for me. For whatever reason, no more than 7 seems to be my limit. Have a great evening!!

Good morning!  I had a pretty good day, yesterday: gym and reasonable eating.  This morning my tummy was rumbling a little, which is a good sign, I think.   I didn't count calories, but I ate normal portions and spent a lot of calories at the gym.  I hope that translates into calorie deficits and I can see results soon.  :)  Hopeful....

My formal outdoor art classes on Tuesdays are finished but we still paint together on our own with our classmates.  However,  I'm staying home because of the thunderstorms forecasted in this area starting soon.  Our group is meeting at the usual place, 40 min from here, but I don't want to waste gas and unable to paint due to rainstorms....  I'll just work in my studio and maybe go to macys later on, this afternoon - they are having a big sale and I need to get a father's day gift for hubby. 

Gym is scheduled for this evening.

Good morning!  Monday is not one of my favorite days but nowadays everyday seems to be a weekend or something due to husband not working his stress full 9-5 job (which was more like 9-8 office job plus blackberry work  24-hour/day).  Nowadays, he goes to language training and hangs out more in the house, and that's a lot less stressfull.  This is the last week of school for daughter, so it's going to be a bit stressful for her - and me - due to the finals and all.  I can't believe Summer is just around the corner... I have been painting and the above is one of my latest -   I painted the potomac river scene en plein aire at the river farm in alexandria va.  Painting outdoors and in oils are a new thing for me.  I've been more of a watercolor painter.  I started oils last fall and I like it a lot.   

Exercise:  not so good over the weekend, except for the physiotheraphy exercises.  Today I'll go to the gym, no matter what!  Have a great day, everyone!

Beautiful painting!! It must be relaxing to draw in the outdoors as opposed to a studio. I always wanted to oil paint, but as I might have mentioned before, I only did oil tinting of sepia toned photos to me it was kind of like paint by numbers because the detail was already provided. Maybe one day I will have the time to dedicate to learning and trying real oil painting! Glad the stress is easing for y'all and the good news is stress for finals is only temporary! I wish your daughter good luck. Have a good Monday!

Oh, I love this one, wonderful movement in those clouds and the greens are exceptional:) I have heard that if you look close enough at landscape oils you can find a couple of insects in the oil. I can imagine that once they land it would be easier to give them a little dab rather than trying to get rid of them!!LOL Love the determination to get to the gym, sounds like you will have the be the calm one in your house for a while:)
