Non eventful day yesterday.  Food intake was ok, not stellar as I had hoped for.   I bought a selection of morning cereals that are all lined up on top of the fridge - not for me as I'm not much of a fan of cereals but I ended up having some when I got hungry in the afternoon.  Very unusual thing for me to do.  Maybe I'm just bored with my healthy foods (????)    I must get a schedule of food intake/calories spent deficit going for me if I want to get going with weight loss....  not a good start for me this morning as I ate some dark chocolate for breakfast. At least it was a very good quality top of the line chocolate.  Whatever...

Today's food so far: coffee, almonds200, dark chocolate200

yea, you might be bored with your foods. Do you have time to look at CookingLight.com? They have a ton of recipes that fit all sorts of food moods. coffee + dark chocolate = good antioxidants

almonds + dark chocolate = lots of MUFA's (healthy fats!)

I did the exercises for about 2 months after insurance stopped paying for therapy. At the point the coverage ran out I was 95% mobile so I worked hard at home because I did not want to EVER be limited like that again. I couldn't even buckle and unbuckle my own bra!! I have to admit, once 100% mobility returned I did stop the exercises. I have never been one to like or do exercises (which is what got me here!!) As I am riding my bike now I will reach one arm all the way up and slowly lower my hand running it from my head down my spine as far as I can reach. I also reverse that by reaching behind my back and running my hand up my spine trying to go past my bra as far as I can. I hated the spider walking up the wall one and as easy as that seems now, that is the one that hurt the worst and was the slowest to progress. I would say it doesn't hurt to continue the exercises. They are by no means cardio, but they are great for stretching and flexibility of the the shoulder and neck. Maybe you could find some other stretching exercises for your legs and make a routine for yourself! Good luck and I hope you find some foods that interest you!!

Well I eat cereal with dark chocolate chips for a snack nearly every night and it's yummy and low cal. So maybe you could start mixing things up a bit for breakfast!

I had my scheduled physiotheraphy session yesterday, and I really like the ladies that take care of me, there. I realize that after I started my sessions, I can rotate/turn my head more.  I also realize that I was probably a driving hazard before, because I could not turn my head so well and didn't know about it... I thought I was just normal.   I can't believe I'm getting so much out these sessions!  I have a painter friend who can't turn her head very well at all  - she almost had an accident the other day, I have a feeling I know why....  So, yesterday, I went back to the gym and spent nealy 2 hours doing everything: cardio, weights, stretches.  Yay for me!  I have checked my weight but have not lost any more weight but haven't gained any, either. So, I'm happy about maintaining - for now.  Stay well, everyone!

I looked into Anytime fitness in Vienna. My parents live in Vienna and I'm often driving thru there, but I chose Lifetime Fitness which is close to my house in Centreville.

Excellent news on your improved mobility, and that is great that you like the ladies there so much. Several of the ladies in my new group are physical and occupational therapists (part time) - seems that the profession attracts really warm and friendly people!

I'm so glad you are making progress with your frozen shoulder. I LOVED my therapist. He was firm and assertive with me, yet very caring and even though some of the exercises hurt, I couldn't wait for the deep massage therapy at the end of the session! I know exactly what you are talking about with the rotation of the head. I had to turn from the shoulders and not my neck and for driving I couldn't get around as far as I should have. BTW, I LOVE your drooly face!! Have a great day. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your paintings.

I was still not feeling up to par due to the procedure on Monday, but I went to my last en plein aire class, yesterday.  It's sad to think that I won't be seeing my paintign buddies any longer.  Of course, we'll stay in touch, paint out a few more times before the weather gets too hot, before my move, etc, etc, but Iknow it's not the same thing.  C'est la vie...

I also went back to the gym and it felt really good to exercise again.  Eating also went well.  I hope you are all doing well, Cheers to all!

Just a funny story about after my colonoscopy last year- I walked home myself after being released and having a snack and on the way home bought three necklaces- one for myslef and two for gifts- nothing that I would have done normally- and I'm not that fond of mine- so good lesson , don't sign any papers or do any shopping after having the procedure.

I had a pretty stressful weekend due to the prep for the colonoscopy this morning (which went well, thank you. I slept through the whole thing.)  Due to the stress over the weekend, I was a pain in the neck with my husband and daughter and lost my cool a couple of times (must apologize later),  I ate too much on Saturday but ate nothing at all on Sunday as directed by the doctor.  I was allowed to drink clear chicken soup and jello, but I did not bother - not much a fan of those items, so I just drank lots of water.  Also, the prep was no fun at all - had to park myself in the bathroom for a couple of hours after taking the awlful thing that makes you go.  TMI, sorry.  Will not need to do this for the next 5 years.

I'm back home and was told not to drive and sign any important papers all day today due to the anesthesia.  I was starving after the procedure this morning.  When the nurse asked me what I wanted to eat (pretzels, crackers, etc) I told her I wanted everything.   After coming back home, I already have eaten 3 eggs overeasy400, toast100, coffee with 1/2&1/2 40, and a tuna fish sandwich400.  I feel satisfied now and will take a nap.

A couple of good things happened yesterday: In the evening I went to an awards ceremony for my daughter who came in 10th in the nation for her French language skills - she looked so happy receiving her award and medal and t-shirt!  My doctor called me with results of blood tests that I had done a couple of weeks ago - he told me all is well (except for blood sugar which is a little high.)

So, I could not sleep last night until 5 am this morning.  I have no idea why.  Since I was tossing and turning in bed anyway, wide awake, I decided to go to my studio and paint...  I went to bed at 5am and  woke up at 6 to make lunch for my daughter and went back to bed as soon as she left for school at 6.30am and slept until 12 noon.  How crazy is that?  Anyway, I just woke up and need something to drink.

I'm having a colonoscopy done this coming Monday, yikes.  This weekend is going to be a tough one for me with the prep and all...

Today is my husband's last day of work - starting next week, he'll have language training and then we'll move on... I can't believe it!

OOOPs I forgot to post today, so here goes:

I went to the physiotheraphy session and was surprised I could only lift my (bad)arm halfway, so crazy!  I missed going to the gym for so many days and skipped the arm exercises all together during the time we were travelling.  I realize I must not stop exercising if I want to have full movement of my arm. After the theraphy session was over, I was finally able to lift my arm sideways, again.  So tonight, I went to the gym for the first time in almost a week.  Physiotheraphy and gym on the same day is definetly unusual for me.  So, good for me!

Last night we had the most amazing torrential rain in the area.  I was curious to see how good of a job the gutter cleaners  had done last week when they came and went when I was running errands.  (I knew they had come because they left me an invoice in my door.)  So, imagine my surprise when I saw that the waterfall over my driveway was worse than it had ever been - a sure sign that the gutter was not properly cleaned.  So I called the gutter service and left them a message explaining the situation.  To my surprise, they came within the hour to see how they could fix the problem.  They told me that they were not the crew that came last week, apologized and flushed the gutters properly (I saw A LOT of stuff coming out of the gutters)  Apparently, the crew from last week just came over to deliver me an invoice without cleaning the gutters!     I was lucky that it rained last night and I saw right away that they just didn't do what they charged me for.   How can I trust people?

Food today were not the best: croisant sandwich for breakfast, croisant sandwich for lunch, portobello mushrooms sauteed, beef curry for dinner, almonds,

Good excuse, but not really feasible is it? Who drives to a person's house just to drop of an invoice? Sounds like they need watching over and to put a hose in the gutter to confirm cleanliness has been achieved!! Good job with the arm:) Having limited movement in my left arm I can empathise! Hope you have a good day tomorrow and are able to avoid the croissants! LOL

Glad you got clean gutters in the end. There is one house in my neighborhood that actually has green shooty things growing in the gutters--I noticed it a couple years ago and they haven't bothered to clean them since then, it appears. It's a really nice fairly new house (so it has gutters all around) and everything is kept up except that.

Oh, glad to hear your arm is really responding to the therapy. Practice practice practice;-) Wait I need that advice too, haha!

Hello all!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend - mine was just fantastic!  My family and I went to the mountains in VA (blue ridge), visited with friends and family, attended a b-day party and painted plein aire.  I ended up with three paintings that I really like.  Good memories.  We came back on Monday night, Tue (today) I got up early to go to my painting class.  Did a painting of the potomac river but am not too crazy about it - will probably just wipe it off.  The heat was tremendous outdoors, I drank so much water but  never had to go to the bathroom.   Anyway, I'm beat today,  so I will not go to the gym.  Because of the holidays and all, I haven't been to the gym in ages!

My knee is doing better - I do feel that I have to be extra careful with it, though....

I hurt my knee and it pains me to think that I did nothing to hurt it.   I was just sitting in front of the TV watching my recorded programs (Revenge - my guilty pleasure show) and had my leg straight out with no suppor on the back of my right knee, with my feet on the coffee table, one foot on top of the other.  Anyway, I guess I stayed in that position too long because my knee hurts so much it kept me awake at night and I had to take a pain killer.  So, I guess it's a pretty bad sign when one hurts herself by doing nothing/watching tv.  I feel sooooo old,  I'm sooo ticked off!

I'm going to costco today to get cat food and some other supplies - must get a gift for a one year old who is having a birthday this weekend.  If I can't find anything at costco, I'll stop at the mall on the way back.

I hope everybody is well.

I've got to get the Fresh Air/Terry Gross podcast about how sitting is so bad, and what to do about it. It was very interesting.

I know what you're dealing with of course. I was sitting in the tub last night thinking I should start a running list of these things that come and go. Sometimes they last for a few days and are alarming and sometimes just for a day and are just annoying. But then I really don't want to dwell on it. Deal with it and move on. Besides I'm not sure if it's a good thing to make a list like that:-)

Talk about too much of a good thing!   It rained so hard yesterday evening, just as I was leaving home for the gym and dance class.   I was not surprised to hear later in the news that there were floods in the area  - the soil is already so soaked with rain in the past week that it can't take it anymore.  The sun is shining again and the temps are still cool.  I guess this is the most pleasant spring I've ever spent in the district. 

Eating and exercising went well, yesterday,  I did the exercises at the physiotheraphy clinic and later I went to the gym for the cardio.  This morning I saw that my weight has decreased, yay!  I shall not post the new weight for a few days because it might be just a fluke.

The bushes in the garden are growing so fast and lush, I must grab my power hedge trimmer today to do some hedge/topiary control  - I've been postponing that job for too long.

My yard is out of control too with all the rain. The grass and bushes have grown so much. I hope it stays dry for a few days now so I can get to it.

We've had wonderful rain two nights in a row only to wake up to beautiful sunshine!  How about that for weather perfection!

I missed posting yesterday, I was out all day - my usual plein aire painting -  and when I returned had to go out again.   I did get to go to the gym - After a brief hiatus, it felt really good to soak in all that energy again.  Today I have doctor's apptm and physiotheraphy session.  Gotta go for the first apptmt.  Cheers to all!
