Weight: 135.2

Accidently deleted the WW post!! I won the 3 months through a raffle. Go figure haha

Today I go home to NY for the weekend....its a pool party at one of our friends house, which means that there will be a bunch of girls that are 0% body fat there and will be judging (not that all of them are like that since I too am from there BUT! i know a great deal of girls from home are!)...wonderful, but its giving me the encouragement to start my "bikini body" phase....Below will be bikini tummy week 1

Measurements: Waist: 29 , Love Handles: 34. Weight: 135

and then one for kicks :D

Every 5 lbs Ill do a look back and see what I need to work on...If only I could target some of the areas! So the next photos will be at 130, then 125, and then 120 :) Should be a nice progression.

Last night (Thursday) was the first time in a long time that I ran. It appears my knee and leg is better so I think I'm gonna take up some running again! :)

Todays plan for food will be interesting again. SInce ill be sitting on a bus to get to NY for 4 hours im gonna try to stay away from bad carbs.

B (630) - Green tea and cereal almond milk

S (930) - Pretzels

L (12) - Salad w/ frozen veggies

S (3) - Green tea

D (5) - pretty bad dinner but lunch was light so I guess its not soooo bad. Chips and frozen veggies again with mac and cheese and fried chicken

WHOOOO HOO once i get to NY maybe my sister and mom and I will go out for a drink. My mom wants to go dancing (she loves it!) but well see how tired I am :)

This weekend I have no idea what food or workout will be like. I'm gonna guess that workout = 0 and food....ill try to behave! Im determined to get to that 129. GRRR

Toodles!

Hello there yourself supercheese:) Looks like some ab work will tighen up that tummy. I am sure V could give you some advice. Excellent work in commiting to feeling comfortable in public in your bikini, but remember, you don't have to be perfect to be beautiful:)

Em17 on 07/05/2012:
Wish you all the best!

V on 07/06/2012:
I am sure you will rock out your bikini body challenge :) Have fun in NY this weekend <3 Nice Gun Show :)

Umpqua on 07/06/2012:
You look great supercheese! The targeted ab work has definitely made a difference for me - I'm heading off to the beach for a week and wanted to be comfortable in a suit and possibly a bikini (if I can work up the courage). Have a great visit!

thenewMLE on 07/06/2012:
Have fun in New York!!! Enjoy your bikini body and don't worry about what they are looking at!! What's it matter anyway? Hope you aren't to tired to dance with Mom - I'm sure she is looking forward to it. Is Zach going to join y'all?

thenewMLE on 07/06/2012:
RYC - hahaha- it's not MY twin but my nephews that are twins!! It's my brother's boys. I only have the one brother and he is 4 years younger than me. I would have loved to have a twin or even just a sister. Is your twin your only sibling?

liza36 on 07/06/2012:
It's great to take progress photos. You'll see a big difference I'm sure. Enjoy NYC!

thenewMLE on 07/06/2012:
Than you could be a great help - what do I get 18 year old boys as a birthday present? I gave them money 3 weeks ago for graduation ($100 each) and since I wasn't going to spend that much for the birthday, the money wouldn't be as good. Any suggestions?

grannyannie on 07/06/2012:
Enjoy your trip! Hope your 4 hours goes by quickly. Wouldn't it be great if we choose what area to lose weight?!

Scales can be evil, can't they?! LOL.

selina on 07/06/2012:
Have a great weekend and party!

The photos of the food were taken at the outdoor restaurant of washington hotel, on street level. I'm not sure if they serve food at the bar on the rooftop - you might check beforehand.

V on 07/06/2012:
RYC..Since you asked if you are not really into all of the Insanity classes, you can create your own routine with a gym/ ab class combo or Select the Insanity classes that you enjoy doing and alternate the Cardio Abs and Insane Abs every other day..Just like any other muscle in the body, your abs shouldn't be worked every day...Also if you still have your Turbo Fire DVDs, Ab 10 and 20 class would be a great to add to the mix..Just make sure to add tougher routines if you can get through the class with ease to avoid plateau..If you would like, I can help you create your own program, just let me know..Also if you want to try "Hip Hop Abs" (that is if you are a fan of dancing) It is short and sweet timewise and awesome results if you give it your all.. I got ya, so let me know your thoughts <3

hollybelle on 07/07/2012:
Great idea to post pictures and target the abs. I need to do more toward ab toning myself. Riding my bike it great and has def helped my abs, but I need to do more. Keep up the good work - I'll be checking in on your diary for more pics! Have fun in NY! Cute bathing suit!

Weight: 134.8

The flux of my weight is so weird. One day im 132 and the next 140....WELL yesterday was fun but I'm still very dehydrated and have a little cold so its gonna be a gallon of water day for sure. I know I shouldnt weigh myself everyday but it helps with my fluid retention knowing since im extremely sensitive to salt, which is really sad cause thats the food i crave. Ill take salt over sweets anyday. Oy

B (7) - Turkey Sausage and toast (white :( ) w/ some fruit (This was a rather large breakfast actually so gonna have a smaller dinner)

S (9) - Pretzels

L (12) - Turkey, Ham sandwich with lettuce tomato and onions....+ Nature Valley bar

D (7) - Not very hungry.....Soup :)

*Water and green tea ALL day

Exercise = 30 min elliptical, 20 min stair, 30 min boxing

Toodles!

Progress as of today: 15.2 lbs lost so far, only 4.8 lbs to go!

Em17 on 07/05/2012:
Try only weighing yourself once a week at the same time.

Umpqua on 07/05/2012:
I hope your cold clears up, have a good one!

grannyannie on 07/05/2012:
Hope you feel better. My weight fluctuates with too much salt, maybe could be your problem? You're workout sounds great. Have a great day!

selina on 07/05/2012:
Hey, I went to the Mall, too to see the fireworks! Had dinner at the washington hotel next to the treasury departmt and walked to the mall when the fireworks started... btw, if you have a chance, when Zach is here, take him to the top of the washington hotel for a drink. They have a restaurant up there and you can have a drink while watching the sunset - the view is great: the white house a block away, treasury dept. next door, the monuments so close by... it's a must! It's special for me because my hubby took me there for our second date, haha!

selina on 07/05/2012:
we parked downtown, a couple of blocks from the Mall in a public parking garage. Getting home to No VA was not a piece of cake either... stay cool!

Happy Independence Day!

Were going down the Mall tonight to see the fireworks here in DC. Wish Zach could be here too :( Hopefully next 4th of july well be together...so far its 2 years missing :( BUT anyway, tonight should be fun!

Weight went down :) But there I went and ate a Five Guys Hot dog for lunch....Could have been worse I guess

Im updating the goal list for this month:
1) Get down to 130

2) Get to a 28.0 in waist

3) Get to 33 in love handle area

4) Drink a lot more water!

B (1030) - PB and sandwich thin

L (1) - Five Guys Hot Dog w/ relish and mustard and ketchep

The way the rest of the day will go depend on me.....Im gonna try to eat pretty light for dinner since well be in DC and food is expensive and since the lunch was kinda high calories.

Have a great day ladies!

Happy 4th! Enjoy the fireworks! Well done on your weight loss. You mentioned bloating yesterday and I find that diet coke, or any soda, makes me very bloated. Could be contributing to yours.

Extremely bloated today......salt is not my friend! Don't feel very good today. Gonna drink lots of water and green tea to make the swelling go down :(

Food today: Frosted mini wheats, almond milk, green tea, left over pasta w/ meat, sodexo cheese and grapes, diet coke, chicken marsala, brocolli, salad, and some chips with more green tea.....

Not exactly the best day of eating but! theres always tomorrow (hopefully)

Exercise: 30 min elliptcal, 20 min stairs, 30 min weights

I love me some water. That is all I am drinking now but I don't like tea. And I love vanilla flav almond milk!

liza36 on 07/03/2012:
Water, water, water! Add a little lemon, that will help too.

Weight: 138.0

I had a very exciting weekend!  My weight went up but I'm not too worried because my measuremnts are way down...tomorrow morning Ill update all of my measurements but this morning I got

Waist: 28.5 in

Hips (hip bone, the flub, the tire, love handles, etc): 33.5-34 in

Last night I ate terribly bad, it was just junk food but I ate really well over the weekend so i guess that will be my cheat of the week.

So, I don't usually drink because 1) it makes me sick 2) I like watching people drink and me be the responsible one 3) its bad for your health...

But this weekend I DID drink and boy did I drink...We also went to a strip club which....hm...lets just say zach was much more appreciative of me and I think I enjoyed myself more than he did HA. Also, one of the strippers "skittles" said I had a stripper body....I almost died...literally...But, I don't think we will be going to anymore strip clubs anytime soon....

DC had unbelievable weather friday night (which i missed) and then NC got terrible weather on Sunday (which I missed too). When I came back to the intern house on sunday, I found out that theres no electricity in the house and we will be staying in the Frat next door...but thats okay because we are going back tonight. One night in a frat house is enough for me!

Food wise today will be interesting. Ill try to eat the healthiest I can :)

B (730) - PB&J on whole wheat

S (10) - Pistachios and green tea

L (12) - hibatchi shrimp steak and brown rice

D (5) - No Idea...Someone said something about pizza but since my lunch was a lot, were gonna have maybe just a salad and chicken.

Exercise = 30 min elliptical, 20 min stairmaster, and boxing :)

Have a great day ladies!!

Glad you escaped the storm! Your measurements are great! I'd love to have a 28 inch waist again!

I'm sure "skittles" meant well-LOL! Funny story - when I was about 22 years old I just moved to my current town. A guy asked me to meet him after work for drinks (I was always the responsible one, too - didn't really drink) but I wanted to get to know him so I said OK and he asked where I'd like to go. I didn't know ANY bars at all, but I had heard of ONE so I named it. He got a funny look on his face and said OK. I went there and when I walked in I almost died! It was a stip joint! He was already there - and died laughing he had gotten there early he said just to see the look on my face when I came in because he figured I didn't know it was a stip joint. We left and he suggested a place down the place - an Irish bar that I throughly enjoyed many nights after that. Good job on 28 in waist. I don't think I've had that waist measurement since I was 13, but I'm working on it. Glad you missed the bad weather.

Have a lovely weekend!!

Umpqua on 06/29/2012:
Just saw your expanded entry from yesterday. I just wanted to echo the other advice you've gotten and say that at some point you just have to nod and smile at parents' advice and then follow the path that you think is best. I won't go into details, but if I had taken my parents' advice I would not have experienced a wonderful 18-year relationship with my husband (married for 13) and would not have 2 beautiful children - and 2 beautiful homes for that matter. They've never encouraged any of my endeavors or acknowledged any of my accomplishments. It's difficult as an adult to realize that parents don't always know what's best or know what motivates their children as grownups (and it's difficult for parents to let go and realize this too) but sometimes the smiling and nodding really is what's best ;) Have a good one!

selina on 06/29/2012:
Umpqua is so wise, I back up everything that she's said!

Did you got to Georgetown cupcakes the other day?

Yes, I do LOVE my physiotherapy sessions, LOL I love the controlled stretching and the pain that goes with it. That just sounded weird.

(Eating healthy and exercising)
Weight: 136.8

So, since yesterday was a bust in the workout and eating department, were gonna try a lot harder today!

So I love working here at APL and if they let me stay longer I think I shall. Currently, I work for Civil Space, which is the Space department for all civilian works aka NASA and private companies. My research project for now is is "meh". Its cool, but I hardly understand anything since I didnt learn any of it and no one is willing to teach me...I think its because my mentor (boss lady) is kinda not excited about it. BUT! I have a new "connections" mentor....which means I get to speak to someone once a week who can give me some advice on how to make my career grow...which is great since he is in the Defense part of everything and works with shinny things, like Air and Defense Missles....stuff I got my degree in. Neato huh?

Now, just from reading my diaries most of you can tell that I'm just a determined person (boy am I determined to lose these last 15 lbs) but my mr. hubby is quite different.  He is too, but needs that extra "GOOD JOB BUD!!" I work because I like it haha.

I LOVE all of your advice on marriage. We are young and still learning. So, here goes:

Zach's parents are very different than mine. Mine are very strict when it comes to school and very strict on the whole "A lady doesnt do that....". Zach parents are very laid back and don't care if he wanted to be a marine or ski bum or doctor or etc. for the rest of his life....My parents expected my sister and I to do a doctor or a lawyer (she's going to law school and I'm working on a future docturate).

What do I think? I'm a mix of both. If zach wants to be a marine for the rest of his life, great. If he wants to stay at home and take care of the kids, awesome. I'm good for whatever....BUT there has been some tension from his side of the family and him. His parents think of me as "such a good example" and think that the reason Zach is going good in college and work is because of me...since Zach wasn't the best of student in high school and quite rebelious.

I disagree. I'm not pushing him any harder...actually, I'm not pushing him at all...I know my husband. He works hard because he likes it and he motivates me to do well.....But his parents never tell him "good job", so hes getting very aggrivated and I think some anger will eventually come out.....I just hope i don't end up in the middle of it!

Tomorrow I shall drive down to NC and give him a hug :)

Food!

B (630) - Almond cereal w skim milk and some turkey sausage

S (10) - Peach

L (12) - Carrots, spinach, and cucumbers w/ balsamic vinegar, AND some cheese with grapes...couldnt resist (WOW, one cup is 550 calories! geez!)

S (330) - Green tea

D (630) - Well the dinner for tonight is something not so healthy (I think people were saying fried chicken, so were gonna have some frozen veggies and etc.)

Exercise = 30 min elliptical, 20 min stair master, boxing

Goal for the day: drink a gallon of water....At this point (10:20am, I have already drank 48 oz and I had to go to the bathroom 3 times lol)

Toodles!

<3 Sara

Progress as of today: 35.2 lbs lost so far, only 16.8 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 06/28/2012:
Your plan for the day looks good and if the chicken is super greasy you could always pick off the skin to make it healthier. Have a good one!

LeakingLife on 06/28/2012:
Oh yeah, avoid the middle position at all costs. It sounds to me like you both pretty much have your heads on straight and any interference from his family in YOUR and HIS business could upset the relationship a bit, or a lot. It's great that he's doing well. Some parents NEVER praise/praised their children except when it was something they were invested in. You're so young--bet you hate hearing that sometimes--it's good you all are thinking of this.

True love is a blessing:-)

thenewMLE on 06/28/2012:
My shrimp and grits really aren't "bad" in a health sense. I saute green onions and white onion in just a little olive oil. Once they are softened I throw in cubed andouille sausage to render. It really is quite a lean sausage so not much fat is released. I sprinkle that with whole wheat flour to start a roux. As the roux cooks out the flour taste it is thinned with chicken broth. Once the chicken broth has thickened I add the shrimp and season it with cayenne pepper, salt, lemon, and bay leaf. The shrimp will then poach in the broth which is now smoky and flavored from the andouille. I serve it over a white cheddar grits. The grits I have adjusted to using 2% milk instead of heavy cream and it is thickened with shredded sharp white cheddar and seasoned with salt and fresh cracked pepper. (So I guess the cheese is a little fat...) It is then topped with a tomato jam - diced roma tomatoes splashed with balsamic vinegar, corriander, salt and fresh basil. The sweet cool tomato is so nice with the spicy hot shrimp and grits! Enjoy your fried chicken and just work it off at your next workout! About marriage, I would suggest STRONGLY that you don't comment to Zach about his parents, but since you recognize the weakness you just accommodate by being the one to praise him. I like your attitude - be what you want to be (where did I hear that before??) and you will be supportive!! My BIL and his wife used to work here in New Orleans for Martin Marietta for NASA. They were responsible for building the breakaway external tanks. 2 years ago the plant was shut down here and they were both fortunate to keep their jobs and relocate to Denver. I'm glad you like your job and are getting to work in the field that you studied. Good Luck!!

grannyannie on 06/28/2012:
You're doing great. As for inlaws etc, you two are doing good on your own w/o family help. Just take things with a grain of salt.

RYC: most definitely this weight is not fluid retention from salt! I wish! This weight is from pizza, cheeseburgers, beer, wine, chips, too much meat of every kind, chocolates....you get the idea. LOL!

So im totally not trusting the scale. I know sodium can be a powerful thing but saying I gained 4 lbs in a day is crazy....so..were just gonna pretend that the CVS scale I bought isn't the best and weigh on a more powerful one....besides my hips (not including butt) are down to a 34 and my waist is a little less than a 29 so were happy :)

Update more as the day goes on :)

B (720) - Special K cereal + almond milk

S (10) - grapes

L (12) - Piece of Lasagna and some edamame

S (3) - carrots

D (6) - Talapia and some greenery lol

Exercise: 50 min cardio, 30 min stregnth

thenewMLE on 06/26/2012:
Wow on the measurements!!! Maybe it's something with the gravitational pull of the moon since I was up 3 pounds yesterday!!! But it's coming down. I just can't imagine that much fluid retention but I do not feel bloated this morning like I did yesterday. Hope you have a great day!! (PS Your hips are almost my waist measurement!!!)

thenewMLE on 06/26/2012:
The lemon really helps for me. Watch the soda water though, it is full of sodium. They say carbonation in general isn't good for you. I put a little of the SF Torani flavored syrups with the lemon or lime in my water. I also grow an entire backyard of mint. A little mint in the water makes it smell and taste like a cocktail!! But I have a hard time swallowing so drinking is a chore for me. Let's do this together - INCREASE OUR FLUIDS!!!

thenewMLE on 06/26/2012:
OK, you made me second guess myself so I looked it up! Soda water is OK, it's CLUB soda that has 75 mg of sodium in 6 ounces. So keep drinking soda water, just not Club soda!!!

Umpqua on 06/26/2012:
Good plan, don't focus on the scale if you are losing inches, that is a much more powerful indicator of progress!

hollybelle on 06/26/2012:
That's why I say scales - Phoooooooey! You know you couldn't gain 4 lbs in a day - unless it's water or something weird. Keep on doing the good things and this too shall pass (maybe literally!! LOL). Go forth and conquor!
