Hi-

I wish I could post something postive but just being here is a postive thing for me. When I'm here I am more aware of what my goals are.

Today- muesli w lf milk for breakfast, cheese melted on wrap for lunch, lean pork & veg stir fry, snacks, rice cakes w/ pb, yogurt, one glass wine.

No exercise today, yesterday fast walk, no running it was hot!, tomorrow will be golf

I think I'm kind of stuck at this weight- not that I won't be able to get below it , but my eating & exercise seem to be keeping me  here at this weight. Need to reevaluate . Hard!

Thanks for the advice on my toe/ feet problems. I will be shoppping for new shoes. I think my shoes may be 1/2 size too large & that my also be part of the problem.

As for your plateau, your foods sound fine, though Im not sure of the total calorie intake. Are you tracking them? You might not eating the appropriate amount for your activity level. The more you move, the more you can eat! I'd definitely look into adding more variety to your weekly exercise routine. You may want to consider adding in one or two HIIT workouts each week (on non-consecutive days) as well as some light weightlifting/resistance training twice per week (on non-consecutive days) to get your metabolism back up.

Good advice above. Your foods also look good to me so it could be a calorie issue, either too many or too few. Good luck on the shoe shopping!

You know, when you've lost weight, your shoe size gets smaller, too. (I wear a smaller size.) As for stuck at your weight, I know how that feels...oh well...we just do the best we can. Hope you have a good day. :-)

I so relate to what you are saying here. I stayed around the same weight for a long time. I am about 10 lbs lighter right now. It wasn't a fast lost - and I still want to lose at least 10 more lbs, but I got here by turning down stuff I knew I should not eat at least MOST of the time and doing only half-hearted exercise most days. I don't know about you, but I tend to be a real gung-ho type and find it hard to settle for anything except a full-out workout. In reality that is very hard to maintain for many and truthfully we just need to do "something" a little bit each day to improve. So I've started thinking smaller and at least I am achieving the small goals - which is better than none.

Hi! Totally agree with everything said above! I actually just increased my calorie in-take a bit because I wasn't eating enough. Maybe increase a little (just be sure to weigh your food) and give it a week or two, then drop it back down again? I always try to keep my body guessing. You're really doing great. Keep it up!

Oh to answer your question from the other day, the date is just a Tuesday, which is my usual weigh-in day--there's no significance to it.

Keep on keepin' on--happy shoe shopping! I'd be sunk without decent shoes--I NEVER scrimp on shoes. Not good for the pocketbook, but I've tried the alternative--not good for my bod:-)

Hi-

Thanks to all for ideas of solving my toe issues. I'm going to try not using the elliptical this week to see if I see any difference. And yes I do think the issue is my shoes & I'm due new shoes but wanted to do a bit of research on shoes to see if certain shoes work better on the elliptical. I think that my toes are pushed forward when I'm on the machine. Or maybe it's just this damn old age catching up with me!

I didnn't help myself last night & should have just skipped the get together before the choral concert- food was preordered & there wasn't much in the healthy variety.

Today egg & 1/2 eng muffin for breakfast yogurt with fruit for lunch, rice cake with PB ( even though I said no pb this week!) for snack. Will eat at the food court for dinner. Maybe chicken & rice, that would be safe.

Exercise- yesterday did an walk/run & enjoyed that so may do that again. Ok- well more of a jog, not exactly running, well maybe a trot, or a fast walk....:)

I use the elliptical trainer pretty often and I think your toes to do get pushed up in the shoe. I always wear socks and frequently wiggle my toes while on the ET and sometimes even make sure I work my foot back in the shoe. I have issues on the ET with the soles of my feet feeling numb, but I make sure every 5 minutes or so that I raise them for a few strides and that seems to help.

Hi-

I'm seeing a little progress, more in my ability to manage portions and not giving in to urges to snack.

Ate out on Friday night but had teriyaki salmon and one piece of sushi so not bad, lunches out Sat & Sun but had salad with 1/2 sand on Sun,& then fruit with chicken satay on Sat. Movies on Sat night, no popcorn. Saw the Artist & so glad it won for best picture.

I'm having some toe issues & think the elliptical might be to blame. well probably the way I'm using the elliptical & the shoes I'm wearing. Anyway kind of feels like my toes constantly feel cramped. So I'll be rethinking my exercise routine in the gym- can always go back to the treadmill & bike.

Today having a lazy day as it started raining- the kind of sideways monsoon rain where i would have been soaked in a few minutes no matter what kind of umbrella I had so stayed in & have just been catching up with  emails & practice my singing. Now starting to clear so may go the the gym or get out for a walk.

My goals for this week are:  Continue to monitor portion control, cut back on wine, try to stay with 1400 calories . Hope if I follow this plan that I can see some type of loss by end of the week.

Yes, it's so sad. I am not near the destruction - it's in E KY for the mot part about an hour and a half away. It was odd when the storms passed our town they went north and south and came back together in the Eastern part of the state. Thanks for thinking of us, though.

Hi there :) LOL no offense taken, I know what you meant :) You know I would love to box as a profession but I am not too keen on sporting shiners..hahaha Anyhoo I hope your toe issues are resolved.You think that you need new shoes? For me sometimes i have toe issues when I wear socks that are too snug or thick.. Have a wonderful day my friend <3

As for your toe cramps, do you think your shoes might be too narrow?? Some shoe manufacturers make several widths of their shoes. I fit into most "normal" shoes, but sometimes I have to buy a wider sandal or flip flop. I believe that with wide shoes, you will see your shoe size followed by a letter. Like 8W or 8WW. It may be different depending on who makes them or where you live.

Hi-

Can't believe that it's March! What happened to February??

OK, yesterday not as successful as hoped but today is going well. The dinner out was shared plates and I think i over indulged. I'm better off having a dinner so I can see exactly what I have. This restaurant serves dishes as they come out of the kitchen- so like the rice first & the curry dish last- after we've finished the rice.

Today- muesli cereal with milk, tuna wrap for lunch- dinner tbd. snacks- yogurt and apple are planned. Today will keep my resolve to end the day with 1400 or fewer calories. No peanut butter today!!

Didn't get to the gym this morning. Had my flower club & must say I put together a nice crescent shape arrangement. This afternoon getting my hair cut.

Anyone who reads this must think I live some kind of dream life- I don't work, go out to eat frequently, do alot of traveling... OK , yes it's true I am a lady of leisure but I did put in my 27 years of work & raised 2 daughters. So I have great empathy for those of you who are raising your family and working.

My client that has twins is doing great, she is a superstar :) The boxer is on the injured list..She pulled her back out playing golf of all things.. She has been out of commission for a few weeks now..I hopes that she gets clearance from the doc to head back to the gym..She is getting a little antsy..I would be too...Anyhoo have a good day my friend <3

Hi !

I now have  more time to concentrate on getting back on track with my portion control and choices and get back to the gym on a more regular basis.

It was good to have my family here, a good visit and now I'm  back to my routine.

Things I need to concentrate on:  having heallthy snacks available so I don't grab chips or other foods that might be around., portion control- so some measuring & weighing to get me back to being honest with my calorie count, and writing down my foods every day.

Today only so-so with eating: B- eng muffin with pb., snack- fruit, lunch- pb & rice cakes- like 6 rice cakes, should have stopped with 2-3. Dinner will be out but I can look at the menu online & select something lower calorie.

Exercise today was golf , 9 holesbut alot of up & down walking.

Hey girl!! So skinny Margs are made with little to no sour mix.I usually sub it out for club soda..Most of the sour mixes has so much sugar and empty calories..The one we use at work is extremely high(100 calories in a 1oz serving?) I just use fresh squeezed lime juice and it is just as tasty :) Have a good one!!

Yes, that sounds like a real good plan, having healthy things to snack on so you don't be caught offguard and have something that isn't what you would have wished you had had instead. Prepare ahead of time! Be READY for the munchies! :-)

Hi all,

Sorry about the lack of postings. My family has been here since I returned from my trip & we've been pretty busy every day. This morning I'm up before everyone so have a few minutes.

Having fun with my granddaughters , BTW , not that I didn't know this, but it all comes back to me about minding 2 children! The 2 girls play very well together for 95% of the time but then !! Of course there is the jet lag factor, the humidity factor and being away from their own environment so all thing considered they are doing very well ( ages 6 & 8). We've been to the zoo, night safari, water park, and to my museum plus other sight seeing.And my daughter & son in law are here so I have them myself just from time ti time.

Just trying to not eat much between meals right now and will get back on track next week Exercise has been keeping up with the girls!

Also this week had to deal with decision to change apartments since our lease is up mid April. we found an apartment in the same complex on a higher floor. These decisions are stressful,  then I tend to have second thouhts, but we already signed the letter of intent. It will be fine & it's a lower rent.

I'll be back here on a more regular basis after Tues.

Hi all-

I'm back from my trip to India. It was a quick trip - just short of a week. Alot to take in- a third world country with contrasts of very poor people living in poor conditions- like under a tarp & using the roadside for their bathroom & wealthy people able to afford all luxuries. Saw the Taj mahal, great palaces, temples, went on an elephant ride & a tuk-tuk ride through Old Delhi, shopping in a wild bazaar. All fun with a nice group. A few people got ill from food or water. We couldn't drink tap water or eat fresh fruits or vegetables- our system isn't used to some of their bacteria. One women stayed sick for most of the trip & neeeded a doctor to come to the hotel. That was scary. I will also say that I'vehad enough Indian food to last me for a few months!

Now my daughter , son inlaw & grandaughters are here & we're having a good time. I have a cold so am taking it easy today.

No change in weight and now not feeling great haven't been exercising the last few days- although have had a some walking while seeing the sights.

Have always wanted to go to India, but everyone I know who has been there did become ill - one had to come hope early, even. It is scary. Curiously - may I ask - did the poverty leave you depressed or more grateful?

Hi-

No I'm not missing, just have been busy & preoccupied. And also not so good about paying attention to my calorie intake.

It's been a stressful week  with my husband's job. Personnel issues can interfere with getting the job done. I won't go into the details but it has been difficult on both of us.

I did pass my final docent challenge of conducting a public tour successfully- so I have my certificate and official badge . It was at 2:00 on Monday & so i had the whole day to fret about it . So after when my mentor bought me a tea & a mini- high tea tray, I just scoffed down those little treats as I had skipped lunch. :) Then went out for a steak dinner with my husband.

Other good things- went to a party on Sat night with wonderful passed hors d'oeuvres & then fire works from the balcony - very cool. Played golf twice last week . And have done alot of walking. Today saw a Hindu ritual that involves people  walking from one temple in Little India to a temple closer to where I live and some of the men pierce their body with large hooks and carry small pails on the hooks along with decorative objects.It is quite a site. I thought I would feel squeamish about the piercings but didn't when I saw them.

So, no I haven't stopped watching what I eat but have been distracted & will get back on track,

Hi-

Ok have to repost my weight as the scale was still a few ounces over today. That's ok as I really need to realize how far back these weeks put me. On the other hand- I am thinkpostive, right- I am on the right track & am in a better position than I was last year at this time.

Had a busy day - museum lecture on religion  & then a talk on the school system here- both interesting , then a lunch on my own, salad with salmon, and some time in the museum, and then  came out to get a taxi & got poured on - like just the time that I was getting into the taxi & putting my umbrella down  got me soaked. Oh well, very typical day here. At least I got a taxi- usually when it rains the taxis disappear. I went to a meeting about my trip to India & found out that I know 2 of the women who are going on the trip & am rooming with one.Funny- one side of the room looked like girls in their 20s and then there was the rest of us.It wil be fine though.

So food today- the salad for lunch, sunflower toast w pb for breakfast, a few bite sized treats at my morning lecture,a handful of peanuts for a snack, and my husband is making dinner- chicken curry I believe. It 's a treat for him to cook but he volunteered & I never turn that down.

Funny- I got an email from my 8 year old granddaughter " I'll bring my umbrella". I guess she got the message about the frequent rain.

Heh, they're interesting. A LOT of work and I'm kind of undecided on the taste. I think it's an acquired taste, not like a typical Western dessert. I probably won't make them again, but I do want to try lots of entrees and other Korean dishes on the site I've been visiting!

How did your museum tour go? That'll be so nice to have your granddaughter visit. I'm lucky my hub cooks 99% of the dinners - as you can tell, curry is his speciality. RYC: quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done. Even harder than dieting!

Hi-

Well getting closer to my posted weight. It just shows that if I put my mind to it I can lose weight. It's simple, 1400 or less calories, watch the carbs  and fat which means mostly fish & chicken+ vigorous ( Ok well vigorous for me not V :)  ) exercise and weight will come off.  And why do I resist this- hard work!! and I do like my wine & ice cream and bread proucts sometimes.

But , if I'm not in the 173 range, meaning not 174, I will repost my weight, which is what I had said I would do if I wasn't there by the end of the month.

I had a good weekend, nothing special- but went to Little India on Sat. & bought a digital piano so I can practice my music for choir, ate a vegetarian meal in Little India, delicious; went to see Haywire on sat night- now there's a woman who is in shape- yow.Sunday a walk around the Botanic Garden & then ran into a friend from the museum & had lunch with her family. Also saw two Shelties ( like little collies) a breed that we have owned , we love to see them , reminds us of our dogs.

Found out that my daughter & family are coming here in a couple of weeks!! All excited about that. My soninlaw has a conference here so my daughter will come with my grandaughters at the same time & he will add on a few days to his trip to visit.

Hope all is well with everyone of my DD friends. And I would be honored to have all of you in my debut tour at the museum.
