                                                                      Hello! I'm in a comfy zone on this day off..........

Went to get car tabs and then to the thrift store first thing today. Used to go thrifting 2-3 times a week, but now work has interfered with that hobby. I'm a junquer! Paring my search down to primitives the last year rather than everything old I like. Anyways, decide to look for some clothes and hit a little jackpot. 25% off entire purchase and some 50% off items. Laundering them now. Even fit into some 18's.... 16 months ago, I was 22/24. Of course makers and cuts fit different, but for most part anymore the 18/20 in anything is where it's at. To fit into a plain 18 felt good. Since starting the vitmain/supplements beginning of the week, I think the magnesium is starting to help with both sleep and less swelling in my feet and legs. Hallelujah! 

Daughter's trip to Canada ended today. Anxious to see her in a couple hours. First time to ever not talk to her for 5 days. Hubby broke down and texted her a little bit ago. I was just letting her time away from home be her own... Surprised that I made it!!! 

It'll be a relaxing Friday night. Tomorrow's 11-9 shift will be a killer and then Sunday after church service I have a surprise b.d. party to attend. A 80 mile round-trip I hate to take alone, but it's necessary to keep the peace. My sister-like friend turned 50 last month and her family all forgot about it. So, they're making up for it so to speak,  She found out about it and kept asking me if I knew anything and I DID NOT. Worried I wasn't going to get an invite, she kept hounding her husband "if there was to be a surprise party for me, you have to make sure J.J. is invited!!!!!" I got the invite yesterday. More to it, just makes me uncomfortable as she had me ask a couple of her family members questions and I fear they think I was asking myself to anything they planned. She is a STRONG personality and if I'd refused to ask those questions..... Well, we also work together. I'll choose my battles! HaHa! 

BREAKFAST: Banana w/ 1 heaping TBS. peanut butter

SNACK: S.F. vanilla breve`

DINNER: Grilled burger patty w/cheese and mustard, avocado, tomatoes 

SNACK: French vanilla coffee

SUPPER: Salmon  (Costco had whole, fresh, wild Alaskan for $5.99/lb.- I bought 2.... Hard to find not farmed and fresh around here), cucumber, cottage cheese

DESSERT: Fresh berries

Progress as of today: 28 lbs lost so far, only 83 lbs to go!

I agree it's good to lay off the texting while your daughter is enjoying a new place and becoming more independent! Did she tell you all about her trip!? How's she back at home now? Was she exhausted after the trip and sleeping / lathargic at all? All the trips I've ever went on have left me sooooo tired! It's hard to fit in so much excitement to come home and have to go back to work - now this year i've made sure to have a day to recover somewhere close to when i get back from my trips...to do laundry, and just rest...lol....I'm a homebody as well as someone who enjoys going out....but being a homebody it's funny bc so many people do NOT understand how i could love to be home for a day or most of a day just relaxing!

that's great you find so many deals thrifting! This weekend i was shopping in low cost / discount sorta stores and came to the realization that i should do this more often for clothes...and not have to pay so much for things that look pretty much as good for half the price...and lower than even Old Navy prices...and such. It's GREAT to pay less! There's an actual dollar store where everything was seriously 1 dollar or less....and i found really nice hair products! for 1 dollar! deoderant for a dollar! dryer sheets packages, $1...and toilet paper, paper towels...i realize i should go there and save big on these types of items now!

Also, you are so beautiful!!!!!!! Beautiful healthy and thick hair (I do NOT have that!) and beautiful face! Lady, you're so pretty! Keep rockin' and i love all the tats...because they look good on you! nice photo!

Got a whole hour sleep last night. Been a very long time since something on my mind has kept me from sleep. I got an answer early morning and had to settle in for "it is what it is", but was too late to get rest before time to get up.

Went to Costco and Walmart after work. Not able to fit in a nap before the guys are home. Will see if hubby wants to take a walk after supper. May replace the melatonin need for this night.

BREAKFAST: Sandwich (Homemade bun, SB peanut butter, all-fruit) was on the go in the car. SF vanilla breve

DINNER: Popcorn shrimp, cherries

30 minute walk

SUPPER: Chicken Wings (marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, onion powder), mashed cauliflower with sprinkle of parmesan, cucumber and tomato. My first attempt at wings. Get tired of same old same old chicken, beef and fish.  Hope they're tasty. Made the guy's spicy with red pepper flakes, chili powder and smoked paprika.

DESSERT: Fresh strawberries and blueberries with a shot of whip

 

Progress as of today: 27 lbs lost so far, only 84 lbs to go!

The guys really liked theirs. Mine tasted good, I just don't care for the fatty taste from the skin. The lemon was just right, not bitter.

Wow…only an hour! I slept soooo deep after having a pretty busy week overall man….I could have slept even 1-2 hours more on top of mine! Sorry about you getting one hour…that’s not easy!....! I hope it wasn’t anything too terrible on the stuff that kept you awake???

Sounds like fun shopping day lol….two huge stores….I am sure it was even a good walk going thru them! Did they have any sampling of food at Costco?? I LOVE when they do that by me when I go with my dad very occasionally (like once a year lol). I love a little snack while shopping around the store!

Yeah, I don’t see anything wrong with occasional use of sleeping aids. I like to sleep in when I can…and when the opportunity is there, I tend to take the sleep pills also so I can really take advantage and get extra rest and sleep in nice and late.

Really nice you make mashed cauliflower. I really need to make that – and cauliflower rice. Maybe on the weekend I’ll cook cauliflower rice!!!!!!!!! I have been dying to make it & I might have a little time this weekend or next to prepare (buy) the ingredients and make it!

Very nice and satisfying as well as natural dessert!

They had samples, but I usually don't eat them. I fall into that trap too easy! Unless it's on the healthier side of the menu. As for sleep aids. Anymore, melatonin is a nightly due to the dentist requesting me to take that or a muscle relaxer. Evidence I'm a heavy night teeth grinder. I catch myself even of a day clinching my jaws.Not stressed, just bad habits from previous stressful situations I think. I got in a very good night's sleep last night. Felt good.

2 weeks ago, I was working a 12 hour shift and then a mini vacation for 6 days. Oh, how I wish we were back up in the mountains. The weather here is HOT! Upper 90's every day. We were in the Mt. Rainier National Forrest for 2 days. Places called Ohanapakosh and Paradise never cease to amaze me in their beauty. Rainier is one of our volcanoes in WA. State. Walking the trails was refreshing to the body and soul.

Scales showed 238 this morning. Won't change it officially until I know it sticks. 

Work from 4-9p.m. today, suppose to have tomorrow off, but anticipating that will be changed by the time I see the schedule today. Most likely be working 11-9 tomorrow. It's freight day and I know of someone who was going to tell management that they weren't going to be working even though they had asked to be scheduled Fri/Sat when they're not working their other job. Their other job pays more and someone quit on Monday, so this person is going to work that job instead.  Fridays are my heavy non-gym workout day. Get in about 20,000 steps, lift boxes, push freight, etc. for 9 hours. I've lost some arm flab and toned my calves without having to pay a dime over the last several months. It's nice to get paid to get in exercise.

BREAKFAST: Scramble (2 sl. uncured bacon, 2 egg whites, 1 sl. cheese), 2 sl. homemade low carb-high protein bread and French vanilla coffee. On days I work til 8:30/9 p.m. I eat a more hefty breakfast due to only eating 2 meals.

DINNER: Stir-fry (shredded cabbage, shredded carrots and chicken breast in a cast iron skillet with 1 TBS. butter), 1/2 avocado. ZippFizz (High B drink with other vitamins and minerals - only dirnk this on days I work. Good for electrolytes and sustained energy on hot days- A/C isn't as good on my side of the building as it is on the opposite end- I'm a sweat beast!)

SNACK: Greek yogurt if I take a break at work

SUPPER: None planned. May snack on raw peanuts or have a TBS. of p.b. if hungry after getting home.

We are very fortunate to live only 1.5 hours away. It costs $25 for a 7 day pass to go to one of the places (Paradise-5,400' elevation) and 21 miles from entrance. I hiked past that many years ago. High enough to be out on a cliff and above the clouds. Majestic!

Oh yes, I've heard of Mt. Rainier! It must have been so much cooler up there in the mountains. I have a friend that enjoys skiing there...

Great job on your exercise, start of weight loss that soon you can lower your # here, and eating! Nice job, lady!

It was 85 degrees the 2 days we were in the mountains. It was 100 at home. Amazing to see snow at that temp, but it was melting. To put our feet in the river water from the foothills of Mt. Rainier was just what the Dr. ordered. Meg got full on in the river with the dogs.

Sleep in day...... Daughter is gone to Canada for the week, my day off. Going to bring the Gazelle into the house to start taking glides every day. Took a visit to the health food store yesterday. Started taking vitamins last night for magnesium, biotin, calcium and thyroid support. Added that to my daily High B-Complex (taken every day for the last 2.5 years- diuretic effect to help stay off b.p. medication). Recently was told by Dr. office of 18 years that they no longer have room for me in their practice. The PA that was caring for me for 15 years left and I'd been seen by her replacement the last 3 years. She left and I was not notified until I called 2 weeks ago for my yearly physical. So, until I find a reputable physician, I'm on my own. Been on thyroid medication for 22 years.   

BREAKFAST: French Vanilla Coffee, 2 pieces left-over pizza from last night's menu

DINNER: Sandwich (egg white/almond flour homemade bun, Smart Balance peanut butter, all-fruit)

SNACK: Remainder of vanilla Greek yogurt from last night's fresh berries

SUPPER: Top round steak, 1/2 c. cottage cheese, sliced tomato, steemed broccoli

 

 

Dessert: French vanilla coffee

Progress as of today: 27 lbs lost so far, only 84 lbs to go!

I was diagnosed with hashimotos thyroiditis about 20 years ago....took levoxyl for a couple of years and then weaned myself off it, also weaned off asthma steroid, cholesterol med and bp meds....took 8 months to get off all....I've been med free for at least 17 to 18 yrs and doing fine...although I did gain weight....haven't seen a dr in all those years....the funny thing is I used to work as a medical secretary .........there is one thing that happens when you work for doctors...you realize they are just regular people...LOL

I believe an urge to have me use sea salt (non-iodized) is what started my hypothyroid. I have difficulty with constant swelling in my legs and feet since a teenager and try to stay clear of a lot of sodium. Summer months are a killer. Once 75+ temps arrive, I have to be super careful to keep from swelling to point of legs breaking out in blisters and red hot rash. Of which, right now Fridays at work get me that way. Been told I probably have an auto-immune disease, but still yet to be determined what it is. At any rate, I bought a thyroid support supplement with supposed ingredients that are healthy. I've taken Synthroid 100mcg for the last 4 years. Started out 50mcg in beginning, bumped 10 years later to 75mcg. Will see how I feel in a couple weeks I reckon. I don't feel bad right now, just sluggish as I'm sure after 9 days without Rx is starting to make changes hormonally.

Yes...we do need some iodized salt, I also have swollen legs which I believe to be lymphadema ( my mother had it)...Hashimotos is an autoimmune disease, if you have low thyroid it is the most common form.....can actually go high and low and high and low...apparently it eventually goes low and stays there but I am recently learning that as we age...low thyroid is not as much of a problem...I don't know how old you are ( I'm 67)...and I' doing fine. I also occasionally eat seaweed for the iodine...I'm careful though about iodine because my mother was very allergic to it and a son is also allergic to seafood....so I go slow with that.

I'm 49. My grandma on mom's side had diabetes, lupus, arthritis, etc.,etc., etc. I've been tested, but no positives yet. I know hypothyroid has oodles of issues and edema one of them.

I hope it works out real well for you, Thin, with the vitamins and getting off the prescription thyroid med. As for the Dr. office, bless your heart. Our long-time Doctor left, too, whom we loved, and altho we go to the same clinic, it not the same seeing a different doctor when we go now, altho he is nice. So sorry to hear they are not allowing you to at least stay at same clinic. Would been nice they'd keep you with you being a patient there for such a very long time.

BREAKFAST: Nothing. Not a habit, just got busy on my day off and didn't even have morning coffee.

DINNER: Salad (naked BBQ hamburger patty, cherry tomatoes, cubed cheese, avocado, 1 TBS. ranch dressing) and 1 piece of homemade bread (egg whites, cream of tartar, baking powder,almond flour) with 1tsp. all-fruit.

SNACK:French vanilla decaf coffee

SUPPER: Homemade pizza (low carb tortilla rubbed down in minced garlic, 2 sl. uncured Canadian bacon, fresh tomatoes, olives, sprinkle of parm. cheese). Didn't eat the whole thing.

SNACK: Fresh mixed berries with a dollup of Greek yogurt.

Early to bed..... Hubby has a CDL physical tomorrow and his BP has to be spot on, so it's a melatonin night around here.

yeah i do the decaf now for same reason - i'm tired of the "lows and highs" i feel from caffeine and i also try to stay away from lots of sauce. it's just extra calories. little olive oil goes a long way on my cooked veggies....

WOW GREAT DINER! i love it. be careful of adding too many fats to your meals: cheese, avocado, dressing...maybe just choose 1 or two next time...like leave off the cheese if you can? bc those things are all high cal...

the bread sounds amazing...do you calculate the calories....bc the almond flour may pack in a lot of cals...unless it's mostly egg white? just asking, please don't take any offense! :-)

The heavier dinner was because of not eating breakfast. I ate the bread because I'd never made it before. It was pretty good. Made a loaf with whole eggs and 6 "buns" with just egg whites. Not counting calories. Trying a different route for a couple weeks to see what happens. The bread is 6 eggs or I altered it to 9 egg whites (we have 13 hens laying right now), 1.5 c. almond flour and then the leavening ingredients. 20 slices in a loaf or 6 "buns". I get a lot of walking in at work. It's usually 25-27 hours a week. On Fridays I open freight usually from 11a.m.-9 p.m. and it's a major workout. The rest of the days are in the fabric dept., but I make sure to walk around and fast. Staying away from soda and vending machines. No offense taken. We've been together on here off/on long enough that I'd put ya in yer place if ya did....hehehehehehe :P

Aging doesn't help my friend..... We're all on that road. I'm at the end of my thyroid medicine and called Dr. office last week to make an appt. for physical.Was told my PA was no longer with the office. Then, Friday I got a return call telling me they didn't have room for me with any other Dr. or PA. After 18 years!!! So, I went to the health food store today and bought some thyroid support vitamins and a couple other things until I can find a reputable Dr. to get into. It may help me to be off synthetic drugs. Will see. God knows what I need and he'll provide.

Hiya Thinny, I did some calculations and for slices I think it comes out to around 100 cal per slice or a bit over 200 cal for the buns! That’s similar to normal calories for any bread slice or bun but the difference is that yours has more protein and probably fiber and has healthy ingredients. Good job using egg whites as a replacement to whole eggs. That’s so cool you have your own hens laying eggs. Yes, you’ll be able to stay away from the vending machines as long as you have alternatives. That’s what I do. I suck on sugar free (but made with stevia, not sugar alcohols so no gas or other digestive problems) candies…and have roasted almonds to snack on when I’m really hungry. I have 100-150 cal cookies and granola bars for days I want a snack and/or definitely for the ride home on gym / jogging days for a small energetic sugar push! Helps my mood and energy levels – takes like 30 min to feel it and I drink a sugar free, also caffine free so I can sleep well!, drink with the real sugar bar/cookie to satisfy my mouth and cravings. Works really well!

Thanks for making sure to put me in my place :-P I do like that!

The recipe said per fitness pal that each slice has 90 calories, so the buns you are most likely correct. I just like the fact that they are mostly fuel calories. Keeps from crashes and craves. For me at least.

Hi there Thinn! What a pleasure to see an entry by you! Wow so I see it’s almost one year since your last entry…nice to see you back with us!!! Yay.

Breakfast sounds tasty! I love avocado bc it’s so healthy and satisfying!! And lately just like you I drink decaf bc I am trying to lesson my caffeine as it doesn’t really have so many positive effects on me. It screws with my skin and my sleep….so I do decaf more often now as I’m trying to clean up a bit of my not so healthy habits. It feels so good to be sleeping better and through the night now!

Does Naked BBQ steak mean no sauce? Dinner sounds good – one bite is a good amount of dessert. You can always have one bite and then drink decaf coffee or herbal tree to keep your mouth busy!

Fruit is so lovely in the summer and the most tasty too! Nice. I’ve been having extra also because it tastes better than eating granola bars on a hot day after work!

Good idea on supper, sounds satisfying. I do peanut butter (whipped bc the air in it means lower cals and still just as rich and satisfying) for breakfast all the time. I go rich on weekend mornings and put two tablespoons of the whipped pb in my hot cereals like hot wheat bran or hot oatmeal. I love PB too!

Decaf is due my weaning off b.p. meds 2 years ago. I've tried caffeinated and my heart races now. Yes. Naked means no sauces.. I'm trying to stay away from processed foods and making sure to make meals/snacks for breaks at work in advance.

Breakfast: 2 pieces of whole grain toast, decaf coffee

Wasn't feeling well. Woke @ 2 a.m. with stomach troubles after eating a few bites of a beef roast I'd fixed for families supper and then went straight to bed. HUGE MISTAKE with AR and hiatil hernia, even though it's pretty much under control through diet/exercise anymore.

Lunch: Smoothie (3/4 c. Greek yogurt, 1/2 c. frozen mandarin oranges, 1/2 c. fresh blueberries, 1 scoop high protein powder, 1/2 c. ultra-filtered NF milk)

Sewing patterns are on sale for 99 cents this week at Hobby Lobby, so I'm headed in early to see if I can find a few to work on when I figure out my mom's fancy sewing machine and serger. Christmas is going to be here before we know it! UGH...............

Supper @ work: Baked sweet potato, 1/4 c. lf cottage cheese, grilled chicken breast

I'm still alive and kicking (well, not too high). Got finished with all the exgtensive dental work, still going to Planet Fitness when I'm not doing yard work or working. Speaking of which, working at Hobby Lobby part-time as of July 18th in the fabric department. On Fridays I average 18,000 steps in a 5-7 hour shift. It's freight day! Working with a very close friend makes for a good, yet sometimes bad situation. Last Friday was the bad side. I was stuck in the middle of a tiff between her and our lead person in the department. Stuck to myself and yet took the trickle down effect. Trust me, even if as the newbie I didn't do something I was accused of doing wrong, I DID IT! Finally had enough and started clarifying that lots of the "wrong" was done before I came along, it's just nobody had apparently been paying much attention. That DID NOT set well with the lead. I corrected it all and went on about my job. The atmosphere is wonderful, co-workers amazing and so thankful this opportunity came along when it did. My brother and his wife are moving to Minnesota in 11 days and our family is going to have another major adjustment with this. 2012 is still fresh on our minds and to have 2 more family members gone (not passed as the other 5 did, but probably the last time we will see them on earth) from our midst. 

Onto the downsizing goal. I changed the numbers to reflect what I've seen for the last 2 weeks. I've no put any poundage back on, just been s-l-o-w/steady. Need to amp up the protein and wean off the other stuff I've been letting creep back in that really shouldn't even be an option. Adjusting to new schedules and routines makes for old bad habits to rear their ugly head from time to time. 

I drink a Zipfizz over a 3-4 hour span a day to get some high voltage B vitamins, still drink the Mother ACV~Honey~Cinnamon~Pure Lemon Juice (not the green bottle kind- PURE!)~ 8 oz. warm water 2-3 times a day, drink 80-120 oz. of H2o, exercise (weight train a little now) and most of the time make my own meals/snacks at home to take to work with me.

Decreased a blouse and pant size since last time I posted an update.

My goal really is to be at my goal weight and/or size by the time I'm 50.  Which is also around the same time our daughter will graduate and a few months later will be our 25th wedding anniversary. 3 major happenings to still fuel the want to on this path of better health, happiness and spreading inspiration in not giving up!

 

Progress as of today: 22 lbs lost so far, only 88 lbs to go!

My 50th b.d. is 5-14-18, daughter graduates h.s. June and anniversary is November. Should be able to hit one of those I'd hope!

I like how you have a goal for these 3 major events. I do this too. It works well for me. It's always possible although when i was younger i didn't understand as much how to go about reaching a goal weight / size. Now, as I've had a lot of experience with weightloss / gain and eating foods to be full, I realize that reaching my goals is always possible (within reason and as long as the goal weight is reasonable!)

I wish I had a Planet Fitness closer to me & one with good parking & in a good neighborhood. Closest ones are around 1/2 hour or more with traffic - and that's over my travel budget in terms of convenience!

Glad that your job is ok & all the people you work with. This is definitely important to your daily life. I like almost everyone at my job too - boy does this help going into work!

I always make my own meals / prepare my own meals at home (almost always even if it's not cooked by me, it's bought ahead of time by me and portioned out into what i feel is healthy & i bring it into work). I don't rely on ordering last minute.

I am in control of the food i eat & it's worked.

You are taking all the RIGHT STEPS to reach your goals.

I'm trying to live life in the midst of behaving. Hubby and I are doing this together. He's more faithful @ PF right now than I am, but I'm adjusting to lots of changes. I do get plenty walking in at least.

1/3 left of a deep dental cleaning is at 3:00 this afternoon. Rather than go to town twice today, opted to not go to PF early this morning with hubby. Going to go @ 1 p.m. Plan is to go for a walk this morning after I drink my coffee and smoothie. Dinner will be another smoothie due to my on-the-go and if my mouth isn't too sore, a nice big salad for supper. Greens, ground turkey breast, tomatoes, olives, avocado, slivered almonds, beets, chickpeas and homemade ranch dressing. Feeling 248 stat is on horizon! Last time that number was seen was late 2014.

Progress as of today: 16 lbs lost so far, only 94 lbs to go!

Thanks Holly! It's been a long time coming. As long as I stick to doing the workouts and walking with the sensible eating, it'll have no choice but to come off in numbers. Inches right now are what's the deal. Building muscle is equaling out what weight would come off if not exercising. I have to keep that as my focus! Measuring this evening.

I hope your mouth isn't too badly sore. :) Glad you are working out before the dentist. Actually, many years ago (prob around 4yrs ago), I got 2 wisdom teeth out & went to the gym that night right after! Doing pushups, my mouth started bleeding again. But, I did work out & took the next day off & enjoyed a walk in the park. Luckily, the dentist gave me strong pain meds & antibiotics so my mouth didn't hurt & healed nicely. i'll never forget how I worked out right after. funny.

My husband skips Planet Fitness on Wednesdays. We used to go in the evening when he got off work and Wednesday nights are bible study. Since switching to early morning workouts, he still skips Wednesday. So, here I am @ 7:30 a.m. still not gone yet. Try to go early, but sometimes just don't. Sunshine so bright through the bedroom window, birds singing and the blankets just didn't want to let me go this day.

Heading out shortly after sipping a cup of coffee while sitting on the front porch, enjoying "just being" for a bit.

UPDATE: Fixed a hearty breakfast for a change. 2 sl. uncured bacon, 2 eggs, 1/2 c. oatmeal, slice of toast, coffee....... Headed to the gym NOW!

Planned menu rest of day is high protein smoothie mid-afternoon. Pacific Creamy Low SodiumTomato soup and 1/2 grilled tuna sandwich for supper. Banana and almonds for snacks.
