Headache of re-programming the body to do without refined sugar, etc....  I'm not giving up coffee, but even diet soda is gone again.... Doing o.k. just have to get through the first 2-3-4-5-6-7 :o) days to adjust to how I should be eating to live and not living to eat.  

 

Breakfast : Nature's Path cereal, 1/2 c. FF milk, 1 c. LS V-8...

Snack : 1 serv. plain almonds, 1 banana

Dinner : Sandwich (flourless bread, tuna, 1/2 avocado, 1 tomato), cucumber....Coffee (not usual of me to drink after morning, but the h/a I'm sure is partly due to me not drinking any @ breakfast...I was in a hurry)

Supper : Sauteed veggies( EVOO, cabbage, brocolli, cauliflower, squash, carrots), 4 oz. salmon

Please excuse the underlining, not sure what I did and can't figure how to stop it....Ridded of the h/a for the most part after a little rest that wouldn't allow for "sleep" and taking something to rid of it...Couldn't go on without taking something and be a pleasant person this evening for our family...Time together at home is so limited anymore that every wake moment at home has to be as pleasant as possible.... Thought process is that time is going to be even shorter here pretty quick, as dad told me today that mom's "nonsense" talk both awake and sleeping is increasing...Despite us thinking that it was a reaction to a streoidal allergy nasal spray last week...She seemed better when she quit it at first... UGH!!! Will be going to a ENT specialist with her tomorrow to see about the dizziness that has kept her bed ridden for 2 weeks now... Cherish your family while you can is all I have to say..... Life is too short to be in a hurry, quabble, fuss, argue or be disgruntled.....

Dessert ) SF Jell-O, 1/2 c. FF cottage cheese

Water ) 80-100 oz.

I love that saying...eating to live not living to eat. That is SO true and that's how we all should be living. It's just SO hard at times. I'm getting closer now ;) Have a great day today!

Sounds like your Mom may have vertigo (dizziness)...as for the 'talking nonsense'...my Mom told me the other day to not talk too loudly, as someone in the next room was recording us! Some days she is herself and very clear and others not. It is so difficult seeing them in these conditions...however, thank the good Lord we still have them with us. Hope you are feeling better and hope your Mom feels better, too.

I understand what you're going through and it isn't easy. My Mom had alzheimers, and she could be coherant one day, and totally out there the next, moving rocks to the back yard so someone wouldn't steal them, and insisting the painters and done the house overnight. Just give lots of hugs and don't try to argue. Take care.

Hi Thinny! I missed you here in DD. Did you know I'm back in the US? We're almost settled except for the sea shipment and the 250+boxes that haven't arrived yet. So sorry to hear about your mom and how her health has so quickly deteriorated. That's hearbreaking! I remember how your dad was the one with health issues... now he is the patient caretaker. It just breaks my heart!

Been very busy..Not home much, but to sleep and spend little time with family, thus not on the computer very often...

Mom has been sick with fluid on the eardrum making her "dizzy" enough to stay in bed all day for several days now...Doc gave her some nasal spray that brought on hallucinations for 4 days.... That shall tell you how it is going in my absence from DD....Between work, driving 150+ miles a week for parental visits and church makes for little time @ home....

On another note, got test results back from Doc today and I must begin chomping down on the finer foods of life... Triglycerides are WAY TOO HIGH, but overall cholesterol is 227... I've been eating WAY TOO MUCH SUGAR and popcorn shrimp and it is telling on me...Vitamin D is half the level is should be, so going to be taking 50K I.U. twice a week and let's see... I think my thyroid that was too low is now up to par... Have to make an appt. for discussion of a "plan"...Gripe!

Not much time remaining before getting the kids from school to go to the parent's house for fresh garden soup supper & see how mom is doing... Oh ya, been treating her dog for ear infections the last 10 days too and she is going back home today!

This week has flown by I can't beleive I haven't posted since last Friday.... Anyway, kids started school, I have more hours to work, 2-3 days a week @ dad/mom's and visits at the nursing home in between... That is my life right now... Awake @ 4:45 a.m. and in bed @ 9:30/10:00 p.m......

Haven't been super diligent about eating properly, but payday is today & tomorrow for us. Plan is to take time to shop & stock up on the healthy "on the go" items to save from the quick grabs of convenience....Saves money in the long-run too..... :o)

LOVE your pumpkin picture! I have a big orange pumpkin (real one) on my front porch. I rubbed it down with oil to keep the squirrels from nibbling on it and in November, we plan to put it out back and it will become 'squirrel-food' during the winter (the cooking oil will have probably evaporated by then)...we usually do this every year and they sure enjoy it...we (Hubby and I) just have to make sure they don't get the pumpkin before we set it out back. So I may have to add more oil in a few days to the pumpkin. :-)

Hope you and your family are doing well. I've been 'under the weather' this week but am better now. Feel SO GUILTY for not seeing Mom in 3 days... But...TRUSTING THE LORD concerning her and everyone and everything else. :-) (I think about the serenity prayer.)

Take good care of yourself. I remember how it was when I was working, taking care of my family AND taking care of my disabled Mom at the same time while working a demanding job. Very stressful. I was not taking care of myself. I eventually had to quit work to take care of Mom.

How is your Grandma? I hope she is better. Hope your Dad is doing well, and your Mom, too, as well as the rest of your family. Take care. :-)

Just got home from work...Getting ready to go to cooking/preparing food for a Friday night of our family playing music with some friends @ the church-house..... Making some healthy choices of fresh fruit salad (watermelon,cantelope,green grapes) pasta salad (veggie noodles,artichoke hearts, black olives,green bell pepper, cherry tomatoes & FF zesty Italian dressing) & then not so healthy home-made buns (pure dee ole' fashioned, no FF to these...shhhhh).....  Was suppose to be just music, but someone suggested the time is when people are just getting off work and they may be hungry...Will behave with eating!!!!!

I had fresh blackberries in my oatmeal this morning...so lishious

A day of running around...Went to work after taking Meg to her Middle School orientation...picked her up @ noon and now home for dinner (lunch to most people) & posting before Ben's appt. @ 1:45..... May go pick some blackberries after that is over...G'ma has oodles of them on the vine just going to waste..... I love them in oatmeal about like the peaches... Yummmmmmmi! Cobblerish in taste..

My attitude (mood) is improving each day I don't over-indulge & lose control in the evening. Re-Learning to think about the consequence of over-eating when I get up the next morning..... I call it DRS (dreaded regret syndrome) The day starts off so much better having the previous day be on track... Each day makes the next easier.... That had been shuffled to the sidelines and the yuck had set in to make me feel hopeless... Now I feel vibrant and ready to tackle.... Peoples reaction I work around when I talk has become "you seem happier" this last couple weeks... Well, in part it is relief from the stress I was under, but I chalk some of it up to just me being happier with me.... Thus, as it goes.."You may get what you want, but then you don't want what you got"... I want the devlish food, but don't want the poundage... So best eat angelic food and get the smaller clothes.... Sure ain't guna buy BIGGER clothes again... That is one thing I promised myself and have stuck to since going from 20>18.. I have even found some nice blouses I would love to purchase @ the thrift store, but they were a 18/20.... I didn't get them cause of the "20"... So reaching for 16 is somewhere I need to mentalize.....

I am so happy you are learning how to make yourself happy by being in control of yourself. That's wonderful. It is funny how we may not look any different to other people, but the way we feel and walk really makes a difference. When we feel good about ourselves it shows in our countenance. Coming from England I always say dinner and then tea, instead of lunch and dinner, can't seem to break the habit. Have a great day.

Good plan! Thanks for the harvest soup recipe! Very yummy! I already went to the store and bought part of what is needed to make it...still gotta get celery and carrots...I got onions, cherry tomatoes, cabbage, okra, corn, ground beef...I may just make some harvest soup with this and add more of the other ingredients next time.

You DO sound much happier! It is SOOO easy to let ourselves get down. By focusing on situations instead of focusing on 'The Answer'...God. By letting ourselves yield to fear. Every day it is our choice to keep the joy the Lord has given us or deprive ourselves of it by letting Satan cheat us out of it. Simply by trusting the Lord, we can stay happy! :-D

Been gone for 13 hours today and am very tired... Work, nursing home, dad/mom's, now home to take a bubble bath to wind down....

Yesterday I fixed a huge pot of garden soup, cornbread & peach cobbler for dad/mom of all which I ate some of....My family came over to eat as well... 

Today I have eaten Cin. Life cereal, fresh cucumbers/tomatoes....Chicken patty sandwich, Tootsie pop, Popcorn shrimp and going to eat a banana here in a few minutes so I can take some Ibuprofen...  A weird late afternoon of a bit of a wig-out spell that happens from time to time still...Had no other choice but to take a nerve pill to alleviate my "wash" of head to toe tingle, head-ache,eye twitches & almost a chill.... Went straight from work to the nursing home....Grandma wasn't doing well, so sat with her for about 3 hours, then went to sit with my mom for the evening so dad could go see his mom...I asked him to visit g'ma, cause she seems depressed and sick n tired of the nursing home already....My mom wants to go so badly,  but her accidents are very frequent right now.....Praying taking her off the Aricept this week will help out these horrible symptoms and help dad out to get some much needed rest... We all need it.....

BUT, I AM DEDICATED TO MAKING THIS JOURNEY A SUCCESS!!!!

because I want it so badly to feel better overall again.....

I'm up this morning at almost 3 a.m. wide awake and went to DD webpage and here's your entry. Wow, what a day you've had...hope you get some rest...you certainly deserve and need it. You worked, sat with your G'ma 3 hours and after that with your Mom so your Dad could visit his Mom. Not to mention cooking the pot of soup. When you have time, if you'd like to share, I'd love to have your garden soup recipe. It sure sounded very delicious. My Mom is also taking Aricept for dementia. I haven't looked up the side effects of it. I don't think it is disagreeing with her however. I really can't tell much if any difference in her taking it at all. The 'tingle' you mentioned reminded me of hot flashes although you said yours was followed by sort of a 'chill' whereas a hot flash is followed by feeling uncomfortably overly-warm. Anyway, hope you get a good nite's rest and have a good day tomorrow. :-)

You are going through a rough time at the moment and it sounds as if it is going to continue. I hope you can find a way to look after yourself as well as everyone else, as an old colleague of mine used to say "Who cares for the carer". The bubble bath sounds like a great way to unwind especially with a little help from the Ibuprofen, I hope you were able to feel a little more centred after your soak. Sometimes when lots of things are out of our control it good to have something we can control - like the food we eat. I wish you strength and healthy eating.

(Pikes Place Market in Seattle, Wa)

The photos above are a place about 3.5 hours from us that I have'nt been to in many years, but it shows the bounty of fruits & veggies that we are in Washington state beginning to harvest to enjoy freshness and nutrition galore.... We put up 15 bags of fresh corn from my dad's garden last night and look to be canning/freezing many tomatoes in about 3 weeks.. Not sure if I'll be able to can peaches or not due to time constraint(s) right now, but will eat the pude out of them while I have local fresh ones to enjoy...Apples are turning bright red,yellow & the such to be picked soon too..... I wish there were a way to preserve the cucumbers that are abundant... Oh well, enjoy those while they last too...   ScRuMpDiLiLiShIoUs  

The scale needle is dead set on 219, so I changed it after going a whole week where it hasn't teetered between 219-220.... WhooHoo!!!!  Looking to set the goal of being back down to the <200 mark by Christmas...Lowest since beginning this journey on Jan 21,2008 was 196 sometime back there in late 2008/early 2009 for a brief visit... I surely can be at least 199 by Dec 25th by remaining disciplined & unhampered by my own let down & allowing stress of life being the excuse of making a uphill battle even worse on myself.... Been this way most of my life and it is time to make it a success til death......

Time for the oatmeal with fresh peaches & getting ready for most of the day away from home....

As for your cucumbers, you can always preserve them as pickles. ;-) I did a search on preserving cucumbers and found an "Yahoo! answer" with pretty detailed directions on various ways to store/preserve cucumbers.

Busy weekend and day today to start the week.... Got lots of walking in today.... Last Friday the kids & I went shopping... Came to conclude I wouldn't be getting new walking shoes after the back-to-school items had been purchased... Stopped by a couple thrift stores to see about finding a couple items for the kids & whala...A blessing was before me in a pair of New Balance walking shoes in my size that were BRAND NEW for $8.99 and across from the shoes was a pair of wlking pants for $2.49 in my size..... I don't believe in luck, just know that my needs (wants) are supplied by the Heavenly Father and at the right time to have me just feel wonderful and thankful for being patient sometimes.... The kids were also blessed with some needs... Wore the shoes today to work and I worked 'em good as I briskly strolled to and fro for 7 hours straight...

Tomorrow will be a day of spending with dad & mom.... Not sure what the agenda is, but know it will be keeping busy no matter....

Off to eat supper of Tilapia, corn & salad. Then, put up some fresh corn in the freezer.... Tomatoes & cucumbers are ripening too....mmmmm so delicious in salads or for a healthy sweet snack....

Oh~ mamanurse ..... I cannot for the life of me remember your new user name...If your still here or reading, please help me out in joggin' the old noggin' please... :o)

What a wonderful blessing! Psalms 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Fresh corn being put up in the freezer...yum. There's ALWAYS room for corn! I love it, especially fresh corn. Tomatoes and cucumbers sound good, too. I used to not like salads but as over the years I've gotten used to eating them, now I PREFERR them! :-)

Now I realise that I should have just thought that those little piggies were darling, but all I was thinking about was having roasted suckling pig, yum!! Do you think there is something wrong with me? LOL. Isn't it funny how those "coincidence's" happen when you really need something. If Heavenly Father is aware of a hair of our head falling, He is certainly aware of our daily needs. You must have been being a good girl. Have a good day.

Woke much earlier this morning...Hubby found my percogesic last night & I took a couple...Ahhhh! much better sleep and less pains/aches now... A dream is what awoke me though... Still trying to figure it out... I'll stop before I hurt my brain...

By getting up way earlier, I am going to work much earlier too...Been taking advantage of the kids sleeping in and doing the same, but plan is to take them to school @ 7:40 a.m. and go to work from there starting the 31st.... My job allows the flexibility, but freight doesn't arrive til 11:00 a.m.  I'm one that doesn't like coming into the previous days freight... That will have to change as well with the earlier schedule... Earlier to work means earlier home is a great concept... Just my mentality of thinking about what is waiting to be done drives me nuts..... Right now each day I leave it is all done...

I can feel fall in the air despite the temps in the higher 90's...Today shall be a bit cooler & maybe, just maybe I'll be able to get out to take a walk this evening.Taking in all the beauty I've been missing out on in my neighborhood for so long.....

What day is your G'ma's birthday on? Reason I ask, is we have 3 birthdays and an anniversary we celebrate that month...10, 15, 18, and 28th.

Love that beautiful picture you put up today! Pretty rainbow and red barn and windmill. Can you imagine living close to somewhere like that where you could see that often??? WOW.

Yes...I agree with you...fall is DEFINITELY in the air!!!....even though a sign showed the temp to be 95 today as one of my Friends and I passed by it as I was taking her home...it was on a lit-up sign at a Walgreen's store. :-)

It's kinda weird, though it's blazing hot--we had a breeze about mid-afternoon that made it feel like fall, if only for 3 seconds or so:-)

So I get where you're coming from though we'll have no respite from the heat for a long time!

Make sure you leave a little time for Thinnie-girl! I know you will . . .

Have been busy and not on the computer much the last few days..... I have been doing alright, but not the best possible... Best described is satisfactory... Haven't felt well the last 2-3 days, but hopefully on the mend from whatever is ailing me... Mostly back/shoulder spasms.

Bold enough this morning to step on the scale.. I wanted to post an accurate weight...Truly figuring I would be entering either 225/226/227.... Usually hover around 225 when I'm not being careful.... Have done that for a very long time..  HA!!!!! I was teetering between 219 & 220.. Whew! I got off/on about a dozen times thinking my eyes were tricking me. That was a pleasant suprise  My food choices haven't been awful, just going long periods of time between eating and becoming over-hungry to over-eat by the time I settle down to take the time....

Going to go catch up on everybody, then get in bed before midnight for the first time in a while..

Progress as of today: 17 lbs lost so far, only 65 lbs to go!

I have never heard of porridge with pumpkin, how do you cook the pumpkin? - my imagination is roasting it in honey and cinnamon and adding it to the bowl of porridge.

Thin, I am so happy for you on your weigh-in. You are 'comin on down!' :-) What a beautiful picture you put on your entry to share with us. That is such a pretty country picture. It reminds me of a place my Hubby and I sometimes visit about 40 miles or so from here. Beautiful. I hope you get to feeling better. I thank you for your comment. It is wise. It helps. Especially the part you said about others coping. It is true.

I know your G'ma be's glad to see y'all when y'all visit her. How is she doing?

I know what you mean about getting to bed before midnite...me, too. I've begun to 'listen' to myself and instead of staying up past midnite, if I feel a little sleepy, I go on to bed now and I think it is helping me get more rest.
