Missed an entry yesterday, but all is well. Received a phone call that changed the day's plans, then some spontaneous plans rest of day.

Last year our Valentines plans on th 13th got cancelled last minute due to my friend's mom being sick. Tried to get her to go to the hospital, as well as paramedics & firemen warning her she needed to be checked out by a Dr. No go. Sadly and surprised as I'll get out, she passed sometime in the night. We could not stay with her, as her aggitation would of multiplied. Recommended we didn't push her. No children or other family members had POA either.

This year we decided we'd do breakfast on the 14th. Nope! Now, a memorial service. Not someone we personally knew well, but some of the the church family do and are helping w/potluck, etc. with recruits. Making for the spontaneousness of our outing last night. I took the driver's seat & we had a mini-progressive supper. Ever do one of those as a group? Kinda fun. Appetizer one person's house and then salad, main course, dessert at others is how I remember it...We just went to Bob's Burgers for main & Shari's for coffee & dessert. Worked out perfect, as I'd not eaten much due to the rapid change of plans and just not stopping to eat. Bad, I know. It happens though.

Today, Meg's out of school. So nice, as not having to wait until 2:30 to run errands, visit nail salon and hopefully get in a walk where we went Sunday. Going to suggest she bring her new 35mm camera received for Christmas. She loves to take photos.

Have a wonderful FRIDAY!

                                                                                  WEDNESDAY

Lord knows my struggles, my heart and my desire(s).... He is my strength every step, every move, every way. Thankful he allowed me to stumble across DD that day back in 2009!

I'm a visual person and like have something to catch attention when coming to update, etc. Helps keep self grounded in the travels of this journey. Habit to put up a picture, affirmation or inspirational phrase... It is me~myself~I here locally as reaching for goals outside of DD and a couple facebookers. My sis-friend is very comfortable where she's at a couple sizes above me and her weight issues aren't on her front burner. I love her tremendously and never want ot hurt her feelings.... Uncomfortable for me to talk with her about reaching for goals, exercising, etc. as no matter how it's mentioned comes across as trying to be a better person and the thought that she should be doing the same. I just try to steer clear and not draw attention to my habits. Hard to do when out to eat, etc. So contraire is the plan... Hubs is 1/2 in and 1/2 out. All supportive, including the kids, but not doing the same thing(s) 100%. Don't expect anyone else to do it if they aren't ready, as one can only want for self enough to make the changes... If what's posted help others? I'm thankful to be of help.. I hope to neveer offend anyone, seem to be "pointed" or manner of posting thought to be a way of getting compliments or comments. Is not the intention. Is what it is, am who I am. How I am....

Anyway, moving on along....................

Much better mental frame today. Headed out for a walk soon as the shoes are on.

10 Oz. acv drink

Grilled cheese sandwich (2 sl. Ezekiel raisin cinnamon bread, fresh mozzarella), Healthy Request Homestyle chicken noodle soup, orange and decaf coffee

3.25 mile walk

Banana, plain almonds, ls V-8

43 min. living room circuit (row, weights 2 x 3lbs., recumbent, dance, Body by Jake -would abbreviate that, but fear if a new diarist came along didn't know what I meant and thought it meant something else.....ACK!). Added 1 mile to the steps (9,114 as of 6:13 p.m. Pacific).Read an article the other day mentioning not forgetting the face/neck/chin in a workout. Did some stretches. Will take picture of today's "twin chin" to compare each time afterwards another is taken. AND going to measure the bust, waist, hips, thighs, arms and neck for the first time ever. Maybe help the mental part of the journey when numbers aren't going down. Did have to pull the pants up a couple times while walking today

10 oz. acv drink

Beans(7 bean mix cooked w/brown rice, carrots, garlic, onion powder, couple dashes worcestershire sauce), few bites of pork riblet, baked sweet potato...

1/2 c. rf monster cookie ice cream

                                                    Much Love~Happiness~Success wished for YOU!

Wishing you a good day and a good walk.

thinnside40 on 02/11/2015:
Thank you!

thinkpositive on 02/11/2015:
I agree with your inspirational message. It would be nice if your sister was in the same place as you, but as you said she's not ready.

thinnside40 on 02/11/2015:
Thank you! People sometimes think we are sisters, that's why I say sis-friend. She is like a sister if I ever imagined what one would be like :) Anyway, she hasn't eaten meat since she was 7 yrs old (now 47). Married to a gvnmt. meat inspector.. LOL!She is a bread, pasta, sweets and diet soda gal. It'll be a year since her mom passed on Valentines Day. Hoping once she heals more, she will want to start a journey of some pounds gone and hope to maybe some inspiration to her at some point.

museumgirl on 02/11/2015:
Oh, I do know what you mean. It is hard to reach your potential when you have someone who could be "hurt" by it, or who feels you are already where you should be, but that is not where you want to be. Keep at it. Sometimes the people who can hold you back are closest to you, and they feel "convicted" by what you chose to do. It is hard to show you love and support her while going a different direction, but please don't let that hold you back. I had a very dear friend for 25 years, and until she was gone, i never realized how much I held myself back from achievement because of her influence. You are the only one to decide where you want to go, and I hope your sis-friend will understand and be supportive and know you still love and support her. Sorry this is rambling, but I hope I said what I meant to say!

thinnside40 on 02/11/2015:
Made prefect sense! She would support me 110%, it's just touchy especially right now. There will be no question when we go out and are together my changes..BUT, she also knows I have to be careful w/ hiatal, acid reflux and such... It'll work out and will be some time before my hard work starts to really show. I'll buy that time now and keep at it. I'm not going to let ANYTHING stop me. I have a goal, like a dog with a bone!!!! Thank you so much for your words of definite substance. It truly does help!

Maria7 on 02/12/2015:
Apparently your Sis-Friend is COMFORTABLE with where she is size and weight-wise and I've been through similar circumstances of people very close to me, and much heavier, asking me how much do I weigh and advising me to not go lower (when I was on a mission to reach my goalweight)...nevermind that I told them what my 2 doctors at the time and my nutritionist advised for me to weigh, which they 3 were in agreeance with each other that my best weight for my height was 140, well that meant little if anything to them...at the time, looking back I think my being at a healthy weight for me made them feel uncomfortable with their being at a heavy weight. I am glad you aren't afraid to differ from your close ones and do what is RIGHT and HEALTHY FOR YOU. Have a happy day.

Maria7 on 02/12/2015:
PS: Really LOVE your sign at the top of your entry...AMEN! :-D

Umpqua on 02/12/2015:
I love the sign too, so very true. I think we have to be sensitive of those around us, but ultimately we have to do what's best for us. I'm very lucky that I have a bunch of friends who are on the same path as me with health and fitness, but there are always those on a different path who can discourage, and I just try to let that bounce off me. Not always easy, but letting things bounce off you is a very valuable skill, one I work on every day haha ;)

                             Tuesday

Been a mental struggle day. FINALLY made it out for a walk despite morning's "my give a hoot is broken" and really no intention of doing anything outside of sheer necessity. No plans to overeat or eat wrong things, actually opposite with not even caring if I ate. Made sure to eat though. The fresh air did good(just like the convo between me~myself~I concluded it would). Meg came along and brought one of the dogs. What a blessing she was. Made sure to let her know how much I appreciated her going with me. Not many 15 year olds would care to go with their overweight mama on a walk,  but she did and I took her to Zumba later.

Valentines is a few days away. Anticipate there will be either a breakfast or supper "out" as Paul is about going out on special occasions. Staying on track all other times to allow outings is important to this journey.

Need ALWAYS do like doing today in not letting the mind take over until waiting til the last minute so to speak. History tells that end of day beating self up for not isn't worth being idle. Can get so much done in my mind, but the feet just don't always want to hit the floor to bring it to fruition.

End of this story and putting this matter to bed here near 9:30 p.m. for us. Praying the wake of tomorrow to be opposite of this day's "plfffffffffffffffffffff"

ACV drink = 10oz.

Oatmeal, 1 TBS raisins, 1 TBS. pumpkin seeds, 1 TBS. chopped black walnuts, 1/4 c. milk...decaf coffee

Orange, plain almonds

2.60 mile walk (made sure to clock it when taking Meg to Zumba w/Explorer to compare with cell app- spot on!)

1/2 Miliani honey nut bar, banana

ACV drink = 10 oz.

Salad (mixed greens, thin sliced left-over steak strip, cucumber, tomatoes, hemp hearts, avocado, no oil ranch)

Some of my best memories are from daily walks with my mother when I was in high school. We walked 4 miles a day, and it was neutral territory - we could talk about anything. You're setting a great example for her, too. I hope she sticks with it. I wouldn't trade those days for anything.

thinnside40 on 02/11/2015:
I used to go w/ my mom too. I was telling Meg yesterday, she would always where a silk scarf around her head. She suffered w/ ear infections for years. I miss her! But to have the memories, wouldn't trade them for the world. Sis is good to me too. She is a tall girl, not overweight.. But, she does try to keep exercise going to prevent extra pounds creeping on with our ancestor history :)

                                                                                                  Monday

Woke at 4:45 a.m. this morning. Contemplated getting up then and getting the day started, but......Nope didn't do it. Can't remember what woke me. I do know I was dreaming and wanted to know how it ended. Darnit!

Anyway, got up to read the paper and have a cup of getty-up after Paul and Ben got off to work and Meg to school. Figured I'd make it the day of Mt.Washmore tasking with doing a small stack of dishes between the laundry shuffle. Between the first wash load and hot water soaking pans, decided best before rain got to heavy to take a walk with the 2 year old Golden Retriever (Mollie)...Whom I've never walked with alone before to steer the leash. Will rethink that one again if it's sprinkling like today. Manuevering a leash and umbrella wasn't the worst, just not my cup of tea per say. The walking is so much more of a mental refreshment for me, not exercise.... I consider it a perk that it helps burn calories. Having the rain made long more for Spring with the clearing out of Winter haze.

Vinegar drink= 8 oz.

2 backyard poached eggs, 2 sl. Ezekiel toast, r.r. grapefruit (it was very sweet n juice-yum), decaf coffee....

2 mile walk

Apple & pb (2 TBS. Smart Balance p.b. mixed w/ 2 TBS. hemp hearts), ls V-8

Living room circuit workout 50 minutes = change of each song was rotations of dance, weights, recumbent, rowing, BodyByJake, repeat) (1.12 miles walk/stepping, 1.30 mile bike)

                                     SUNDAY

Been a good day so far. Went to the grocery store after morning church service and came home to fix one of my favorite sandwiches for dinner. Had an Italian seasoned turkey breast in the oven for the family and made my plain sliced thin in a skillet. YUM!

Yesterday was a day of dissapointment at first as hubster was going to town to do his diecast hunting. TOld him I would go with if we could go to the gym @ his work place beings he would be closeby. Got our shopping done, got to the shop and "oops" he forgot the clicker to open the gate. New alarm system made it to where Meg couldn't squeeze through as had been the case before if need be. Meg wasn't happy either, but we compromised and asked if he would consider walking with us instead. Bad part was his knees and ankle started bothering him tremendously before we got back to the car. He was complaining that they had stretched out too much... Well, Ben wears 13 and Paul a 10.5 and they wear near same style... Good grief! Came home to confirm my suspicion. He was wearing Bens!!! Today he went walking with me in HIS shoes. So much better

8 oz. a.c. vinegar drink (2 TBS. unfiltered/mother vinegar, 1 TBS. raw honey, 1 tsp. lemon juice)

Steel cut oats, cinnamon, cranberries, banana, black walnuts, 2 sl. Ezekiel raisin cinnamon toast...Decaf coffee, O.J.

Tangelo

8 oz. vinegar drink (added 1 tsp. cinnamon)

Turkey breast sandwich (2 sl. 10 grain toast, thin sliced turkey breast, 2 Tbs. Greek yogurt cream cheese mixed w/ 1/8 c. whole cranberry sauce and chopped English walnuts, lettuce- I wanted to have alfalfa sprouts, but the store we were at doesn't sell any kind of sprouts anymore due to salmonella possibilities???)

1.5 mile walk, 1 mile recumbent bike, 10 minutes rowing machine, 30 hands behind head BBJ pull-ups, 30 BBJ push-ups, 3 different useages x 20 with 3# ball weights.

15 plain almonds, Greek yogurt

Tuna, ls Triscuits

I've heard of the vinegar drinks - do you like it? What does it do for you? I've been having a bit of water with some cider vinegar, but not sure what it is supposed to do for me....I probably read it somewhere and forgot.

thinnside40 on 02/08/2015:
I do like it. Not with the cinnamon too much though. This is what one group on facebook says... A friend sent it to me knowing I already drank it. Just not w/ cinnamon until trying yesterday.... https://www.facebook.com/healthdigest/photos/a.187939824672351.44283.187938474672486/448160371983627/?type=1&theater

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)

This Junk Queen (named by friends) is one happy lady coming to this end of Friday. Went to the thrift store for their 50% off media sale that started today and was also facebook Friday for an extra 25% off $20 or more entire purchase. WHOOPWHOOP! Somebody must of not wanted to stick to their New Year Resolution, cause the jackpot was hit

Here's the breakdown shakedown of Monday and today spending $35.88 on $800+ worth of merchandise:
Stamina 1399 Air Rowing Machine normally $299 + shipping (like new for $9.99 minus 25% off = $7.49)
Lifegear Recumbent Bike normally $169 + shipping (like new for $9.99 minus 25% off = $7.49)
Body by Jake Bench w/ video, recipe book & instruction sheet normally $249 shipping (like new for $12.99 bought Monday- no discount)
7 DVDs (4 never opened - The Help, The Great Debaters, The Boy In Striped Pajamas, The Way Back, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, The Clearing, Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius) normally $7-$15 each ($1.50 each @ 3 day sale of 50% off + additional 25% off = $1.13 each)

Paul was with me. He usually isn't, but it's his day off & I told him they had Hot Wheels and Johnny Lightnings there yesterday (yes, I go 2-3 times a week~ we buy-sell misc. from time to time). He wanted to go of course. It was a good thing, as he came home from his 6 month check-up urologist appointment a bit disguisted as he told me he weighed in @ 245#. GULP, he's always been in the 225 range since we married. Stinks tremendously yet though as I've been more than he has most of our post-childbearing marriage time. Blah Blah Blah......Anyway, when I asked him to try out the rowing machine and recumbent bike so I didn't have to publicly humiliate myself, they both grew on him instantly. He says he wants to do some home workout with me... What a bonus! Thankfully his check-up came back he won't have to go back for a year now whereas the last 6 years have been every 6 months. 2 biopsies (12 injections each time) that have both came back negative for cancer although PSA has been way too high for his age (until this last year- he isn't driving 200+ miles day anymore with a promotion to foreman of his shop), but erring on the cautious side as his brother and dad both had the same issue cancer... Whew!

Now, this evening comes the time to figure out the arrangement of equipment. The living room is large enough since re-arranging it last week. So the stuff will have to be dealt w/indoors until the weather gets warm enough to take it outside under the covered patio. Not in the mood to dress like an Eskimo and do a workout. Although there was that time when I was walking 6 miles a day, I bundled up in the freezing temps and came home with frosted hair....

Hope your Friday has been pleasant, your goals set for the day have been accomplished and your ready for a fun/relaxing weekend.

2 sl. Ezekiel toast, 2 backyard eggs, grapefruit, l.s. V-8...decaf coffee

24 oz. "whole lotta nothin'" (aka "why bother") latte

Left-over bean soup

60 minutes work-out (mixing the dance, recumbent, rowing, BBJ) I really liked this!

Banana, grapes

Orange, 12 plain almonds

Coho salmon, salad (romaine hearts, grape tomatoes, English cucumber, hemp hearts, avocado and Uncle Dan's ranch- powdered mix made w/ sour cream & buttermilk ~ trying to get away from the nasty oils, msg, etc. in premade salad dressings)

Kids both not home this evening. Asked for seafood night to be post-poned til Saturday...

Pizza (Ezekiel tortilla, fresh tomato slices, skiff of mozarrella, black olives, 3 sl. Canadian bacon, pineapple, artichoke hearts (water canned) )

Popcorn

H20= 64 oz... unfiltered a.c. vinegar drink = 8 oz.

                                                      THURSDAY

The "off" of yesterday was not planned, but wound up that way and a bit of experiment. I didn't exercise and I ate a chicken strip dinner (breast strips, small order of fries, 1 sl. of toast) and a couple molasses cookies at supper time. Scale was down by another pound this morning. I remember from times past, the ocassional "off" makes a change like that for whatever reason(s).

Weather here is like we live in Seattle this Winter. It's 300 miles from us, but the rain is taking place of snow we're used to. Today, no exception. Have to get out for dog food and a few groceries.

Steel cut oats, raisins, banana, hemp hearts, drizzle of honey, 1/4c. milk.....decaf coffee

Orange, 12 plain almonds

45 minutes dance/stretch/movin' n groovin'

15 bean soup w/ sprinkle of shredded mozarella, 1 strip beef steak, 1 sl. sd toast

NF Greek yogurt

H2o= 64 oz.... unfiltered a.c. vinegar drink = 8 oz.

Have a great day.

Thanks!

museumgirl on 02/06/2015:
I have noticed the same thing - splurge on an ice cream and lose a pound. Go figure. Have a great day!

thinnside40 on 02/06/2015:
So glad that our bodies allow it and don't revolt against when doing it in moderation.

grannyannie on 02/06/2015:
I've noticed that as well. Occasional splurge seems to give your metabolism a boost and you lose weight.

thinnside40 on 02/06/2015:
Yes, a metabolism boost! Yay.......

liza36 on 02/06/2015:
Nice going on the scale. I agree with the occasional "off" day. Seems to work.

thinnside40 on 02/06/2015:
Thank you!

Umpqua on 02/06/2015:
Having a higher calorie day now and then is good for "shaking up" the metabolism. I've heard it called zig-zagging and some people do it regularly - plan high and low calorie days to get their metabolisms moving. Whatever works is a good thing - congratulations on your loss!

thinnside40 on 02/06/2015:
I'd heard it before too and remembered in times past, especially one Easter. I was shocked to of went down 2-3 pounds that weekend... Thanks for the congrats!

biscottibody59 on 02/06/2015:
Good going on the loss! Even with the stumbling block of the cold and stuff, your consistency looks like it's paying off for you!

thinnside40 on 02/06/2015:
Thank you. Keep plugging along how we know and eventually it'll come off. :)

                                    TUESDAY

My body has felt like it's been hammered today. Working muscles with the dance, Gazelle and Body by Jake each day is starting to feel in all the areas sat dormant too long. Thought about forgoing it today, but pushed through. Will see tomorrow if it feels better or worse. If worse, may step back a hint until better adapted. Don't want to not like the routine.

Did get the doctor style scales the other day... To have the 150-200-250 marks helps my mind. So anxious to be able to put the marker on the 200 and out of the 50+'s.... It's incintive to say the least. They are accurate w/ the scales I had been using. Thank goodness!

Steel cut oats, raisins, 1/4 c. milk, hemp hearts, chopped blak walnuts...O.J. decaf coffee

15 plain almonds

SB pb & all fruit sandwich

50 minutes dance/stretching/movin' n groovin', 10 min. Gazelle (.50 mile)), 25 BBJ pull-ups (hands behind head)

Homemade cheeseburger (xxlean grund beef, shredded cheese, tomato, avocado, lettuce on Ezekiel toast), homemade sweet potato fries (sprinkled w/olive oil)

100% cran-pom juice w/ seltzer

H20 = 48 oz. Unfiltered a.c. vinegar drink = 8 oz.

It's good that you're feeling the effects of exercise but also important not to overdo it. I always take a rest day when my muscles are really sore and feel much better about tackling it again the following day. Have a good one!

mcwoo40 on 02/04/2015:
Homemade cheeseburger.....mmmm my mouths watering.Tried sweet potato once, baked not too impressed, maybe better into fries.

thinnside40 on 02/05/2015:
It was tasty... Broiled hand pressed thin patty... Baked sweet potato is o.k. w/me if it's baked long enough. I don't like them watery like they can be sometimes.. Had to learn to like them. :)

RYC: Nice of you to remember me for that:-)

Just wanted to say I'm a fan of Ezekiel Raisin Bread. It just hits the spot!

You're really kickin' it all around--keep up the good work!

thinnside40 on 02/07/2015:
Have you had the English muffins? They're good too!

museumgirl on 02/05/2015:
you're doing great - that workout sounds good.

thinnside40 on 02/07/2015:
Thank you!
